My Belkin Wifi router which was working fine earlier has stopped working now. It shows a red/orange light and nothing else ( it normally shows a green light ). The light doesn't blink or flash. As a consequence, my wifi devices aren't connecting to the internet, however i can connect via my pc normally through my modem. I have a iball Baton modem and the model number of my wifi router is F7D1301 V1.

I was told by my Internet company that my router may not be compatible with my new modem (from them). I have a Basic Wireless Router. Model f7d1301. Purchased about 1 year ago. I was told that Belkin designs it this way so we have to buy a new one regularly. But 1 year!!! That is terrible. Is it true? Is this older router no good? I have purchased a new one and it seems to,have solved the problem. It does take me very happy that I already have to buy a new one....

Networking is almost an unknown to me. An ip config on the computers in the network brought the realization there are 2 sub-nets ... at least it looks like there are 2 sub-nets (192.168.1.x, and 192.168.2.x).
My gut tells me the above mentioned modem/router cannot be connected & configured to be used transparently for the computers connected to the other modem/router without additional hardware. Is this right?
I am attempting to upload some files to my school server will Filezilla. It worked the very first time I attempted to do this. A box popped up and read something like, " The key is unknown, this may not be the computer you think it is", there was a check box asking to approve this server and save the key. I ticked this box and everything was fine, it was connected. I disconnected from the server and went back an hour later to upload something and got this message when attempting to connect, "server has unexpectedly closed network connection", then, "unable to connect". I get it every single time I try to do this from home. However, I have been able to connect everywhere else but my house. I can connect with the same computer from my friends wireless at his house, and from the wireless at work, all from the same computer that will not connect at home. I have also tried different operating system, Ubuntu, and nothing same error message. I have reinstalled the program, and tried other programs,,nothing. I have also deleted that key in the registry, from the check box earlier. At home it does not have that pop up saying " the key is unknown" anymore, even after deleting the key. Yet it does from all the other locations. I do not check it from anywhere else from fear that this will happen everywhere and then I can use it at all. The only difference I can see in these situations is my router, as my friend uses the same ISP, and the same computer was used from each location.
View 9 Replies View RelatedMy belkin 54G was working few years now. Just hours ago, I try to connect my iphone 3GS with belkin wifi. I go to the 192.168.2.1 (on my laptop - wifi), MAC address filtering and enable it. After insert my iphone 3gs ip address i press OK.
Here's the nightmare begin, after minutes. My internet connection is not working both on my laptop (wifi working but not internet) and the PC facing problem on internet connection. i try login again 192.168.2.1, hoping can restore it but it fail to load the page.
how to restore it?
Below is the screenshot of what I did.
1. my ipconfig show new IP address, 169.254.242.229. i try using this address to access but fail to load.
2. ping 192.168.2.1 but unreachable.
3. detail of my network connection details.
4. set my TCP/IP properties
5. ipconfig manage to change it and ping working now.
6. to my disappointment, 192.168.2.1 still not working. can't enter it's web interface.
I am using Belkin router for my laptop . Once I shut down my laptop suddenly the router stops working and hence if some one else is using the wi-fi network, he is loosing the connectivity. For that I have to restart the router everytime when ever I shut down my laptop.

Each router has a different SSID, and WPA2//AES/TKIP is the security. The purpose of the second router is to act as an access point and extend the wireless range. Now I need to extend it further, but without through wireless. I had a G bridge connected to the second Belkin, and it in turn connected to a third router which was G. This worked but was sporadic. I bought an Amped SR150 N repeater to replace the bridge and third router.The repeater will connect to the second router with no problem. It shows the IP of the main router as the gateway IP. The laptop that the repeater is connected to then received an IP from the main router. However, the laptop has no internet. It also will not go to the IP of the main router.I tested the repeater by connecting it to the main router. That works fine, and the laptop gets internet. I tested the second router capability by connecting the laptop to it through wireless. That works fine to, and the laptop can go to the home page of both the main and second router. When I put the repeater back into the mix, the laptop does the same tihng: It gets a new IP from the main router, but no internet, and it will not go to the homepage of the main router.

I have a old G5 Mac without wireless so have always connected through my old belkin modem with Powerline adapters over my house wiring circuit:confused. I can't get this tablet to connect to the server I have put in all the ssid and the name of the server. Previously I had a Netgear router and it was working no problems at all.I have port forwarded (virtual server on Belkin) port 3389 TCP to the servers IP address.I can get Remote desktop connection to work when I am within my LAN by just typing the computers name.However when I try to connect via the IP address, as I would if I were away from home, then I get the message that says "remote desktop cannot connect for one of these reasons
1) remote access not enabled (it is because it worked before)
2) remote computer is turned off (no it isn't)
3) remote computer is no available" (yes it is cause can connect from LAN)
Turned off static IP for my server and let the router assign IP, and changed the IP address in the port forward, same, no connection.Double, triple checked my IP address, as this obviously changed when I plugged in the new router.Have updated to latest firmware for router and NIC.
I recently purchased a Belkin Dual Band Router and connected to the internet at our side-house we have connected to the house. I'm getting a poor to fair signal out here. Just to mention, there is a lot of traffic passing at all times of the day and night. Busy highway. Is there a way I can boost my wifi signal without buying an actual wifi booster?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem with my Belkin router since day 1 when i got it.( not new, got from buddy's place) It's Belkin HI Speed Wifi G router, and what's really frustrating is, everytime i connect to it, I need to manually change the DNS address and switch between 4.2.2.2 & 4.2.2.4 in order to get internet access! Sometimes it even cuts off the internet during a session, without me even disconnecting from the wifi network, where I would again need to switch back and forth to the 2 or 4 ending!

The internet on the main desktop is on and used constantly all day, with 2 laptops and ipad used intermittently. Constantly thorughout the day the internet freezes up and has to be unplugged and restarted though there is no pattern to the freeze, perhaps only be the main desktop may be in use alone, perhaps all the above may be in use. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3 Kindles (2 Kindles with keyboards and 1 kindle touch) that have wifi and they were working fine until our 2Wire router died and we got a new Westell DSL Wireless Gateway from ATT (model: B90-755025-15). All of our other wireless devices are working fine (Ipods, laptop, Ipad) with the new wireless router, but the Kindles will now not connect to our wifi network. I type in the same network key that I did for the other devices but it doesn't work. Amazon said all sofware was up to date on the kindles and it is a problem with the settings on the router because they were working before we got the router. AT&T won't work for me because they say the other devices are working so it must be a problem with the Kindles. Is there a setting I can change on the router or does the Westell router just not work with the Kindles?
