I've been having some trouble with my ATT router. I've had it for months and there have never been any issues until now. It does not seem that it is broadcasting WiFi like usual. It will not show up on the WiFi network list on both my iPod and my laptop. I've tried resetting the router (by unplugging it and plugging it back in).
View 5 RepliesI have an HP dv6000 that has an atheros ar5007 b/g card built in, windows vista home premium, the system was recently restored to start fresh for a new user (my daughter).The ethernet port on the side works fine to get online, the wifi is on and does find connections out there including our att uverse, it will connect to our library's and our community rooms free wifi, and to a neighbors unsecured connection as well, but no matter what I do I can't get it to connect to OUR att uverse!I do know the passkey and its verified with all our other laptops, iphones, ps3 etc, i tried updating the wifi cards drivers from the hp site, i turned off the firewall, re-tried the passkey, its not erroring on that just won't connect.There is this diagnose thing that does nothing, I have also reset the att uverse and restarted the laptop all same results.Then I thought maybe windows updates were needed, so plugged in via ethernet cord did those restarted, still same thing (won't connect to our att) but strangely still does connect to other wifi so i am pretty sure its not a bad card inside the machine or anything.

I had it connected and for other reasons I went into the router setup and disabled wireless, did nothing else. When I enabled wireless again (and did nothing else) I could not connect my Win 7 computer. Everything else connects just fine so I know it's not the router but this Win 7 computer.When I click on the connections icon it shows me all the available wireless networks and the Uverse show but has a red X on it and the popup says something to the effect it's trying to connect but the connections are not the same as are in the profile or the info.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe've had UVerse for about a year now - but lately we've had weird problems:
-about every 2-4 weeks, the router will spend a night constantly locking up and rebooting itself. ATT says they don't know why, and wanted me to check the power?? When it does this, it will do it for 30 minutes to TWO HOURS.
-every couple of days, the channels will freeze. If we change channels and then back, it returns to normal for a bit. Sometimes for a while, sometimes only for a minute. We have two boxes, each one does it. Even affects DVR playback. Internet doesn't seem to be affected, so I had originally though it was the boxes. ATT has remoted in, and can't find anything out of the ordinary.
I have att uverse which is wireless G. I want to add a 2nd router behind it that will have wireless N. I've made the connection. I see it on my list of networks but doesn't allow me to access it.

I would plan on running a cable from my U-Verse modem to my router then to my switch giving me wireless and 8 gigabit ports. Would that work? I've never done this before so I wasn't sure if I was missing something or not.

The laptop connects to the router but shows up as local connection only. Uverse tried all kinds of differant things to no avail. I am using my wireless adapter..a Linksys AE1000..to connect to a friend's ATT U-Verse high speed internet for a few weeks. Due to a petty argument with his girlfriend..I overheard her and her friend and discovered that she had logged into the Uverse router/modem (192.168.1.254), which shows all devices that are connected. On this page it has links to access files for each device. Clicking on that, she was able to read all my files. Nothing to hide, I just don't like snoopers and even wonder if she could change settings or do something to mess up my computer. I cannot figure out how to block access by her Uverse thru my Linksys wireless adapter.
I normally do not allow any sort of file sharing and everywhere I have looked on my PC, nothing is enabled to file share or remote desktop share or anything like that. I'm not a total noob but have no clue if and how I can change this on my end so that she cannot get into my PC while I'm connected to their internet. Their router/modem is a 3800HGV-B.
I have a WRT300n router and want to connect to my Uverse Gateway. When I connect them & try to use the internet connection I get an error that says a connected router must be capable of using DYnamic IP addresses.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 3 Kindles (2 Kindles with keyboards and 1 kindle touch) that have wifi and they were working fine until our 2Wire router died and we got a new Westell DSL Wireless Gateway from ATT (model: B90-755025-15). All of our other wireless devices are working fine (Ipods, laptop, Ipad) with the new wireless router, but the Kindles will now not connect to our wifi network. I type in the same network key that I did for the other devices but it doesn't work. Amazon said all sofware was up to date on the kindles and it is a problem with the settings on the router because they were working before we got the router. AT&T won't work for me because they say the other devices are working so it must be a problem with the Kindles. Is there a setting I can change on the router or does the Westell router just not work with the Kindles?

A few days ago my internet suddenly stopped working. I plugged in the ethernet cord and everything worked fine. Checking the properties in the device manager showed the device was working properly, I also tried resetting it to make sure it was enabled but it did not work.
Upon troubleshooting, the "Windows Network Diagnostic" said the problems was that the Wireless adapter was not turned on. Using the switch on the front of the laptop as well as the function keys does nothing. Usually a graphic pops up showing if the WiFi is on or off, changinging transparent to show the WiFi is disabled. Now when I turn the switch on it always appears transparent, effectively going from off to off
So I know the computer reads both the function keys and the switch on the front but both methods never actually turns the adapter on. I just finished a system restore and nothing has changed
We got a lynksys model at our home. it seems that everything is working the pc's connected with cables are working with internet. The wifi sends out and you can get on it. But internet isn't working with wifi also if it says connected etc.

I am not sure how to set it up, so I connected it to E4200 which is located in another room using CAT6 flat cable and set it to "Bridge mode". But whenever I open the TV box, the wifi won't work, and when it's closed, it works. :s how weird is that. Are there any problems? The modem with wifi will always work either way I open/close the TV box, but the E4200 wifi will only work when I close the TV box. I asked my service provider about this and they tell me it's not their problem anymore.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 3 computers, all Macs. Two are hooked into my WRT54GP2 via ethernet cables, and one is using WiFi (Airport Extreme). All get an IP number from the router via DCHP (no hard numbers). The router is also hooked up to a Motorola Surfboard cable modem.The two Macs using ethernet have no problems at all, and can access the internet and share files and printers. The WiFi Mac, however, can access the Internet fine, but cannot mount the other machines as file servers. It doesn't even ping them. What is going on in the setup of the router that is preventing the ethernet machines from being seen properly by the WiFi Mac?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've tried all sorts of settings, and I'm still holding out that its a setting possibly, but I have a E3500 and devices on both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz... Most of them, probably when idle, seem to stop working over WIfi. They still have decent connection, but every internet related request just times out. Disable and reinable the wifi and it works great again.
Could this be defective wifi radios? or could it really be interference? I have it happening on multiple devices. Also, I'm not far away from the router when it occurs, and when I reconnect, it seems to work just fine for a while. Basically the big problem is on the cell phones and tablets because I'll miss notifications... I'll turn off the wifi and turn it back on when I use the device next, then a flood of notifications will come in. Again, it's not just a phone thing, tablets and laptops have the same problem, that's just the main reason I want it fixed.
I have a E4200 updated to the latest firmware I have problems with the wifi on the 2.4GHz band, in fact, at power on, many times wi-fi on the 2.4GHz band doesn't work but the 5GHz band works normally. After some reboots the wi-fi operating normally on both bands.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI recently "upgraded" to Uverse from DSL. While the speed boost is nice, UVerse comes with a 2wire residential gateway. Unfortunately you can't disable the DHCP functionality in the 2wire router, nor can you disable the router functionality completely and just run it as a modem, which has pretty much made it impossible to integrate into my network.So the partial solution anyway is to keep using the rv082 (yey!) behind the 2wire, assign a public static IP to the rv082 WAN1 i/f, disable the firewall in the 2wire for the rv082, and up and running again.The problem I'm facing now is that I had 3 devices on the LAN that were published using individual public static IPs. With good-ol'-DSL, I could use the one-to-one-NAT feature in the rv082, block any unwanted traffic in the firewall, and everything works. Unfortunately with the configuration options in the 2wire, I can only assign a single public IP address to any one device hooked up to it, in this case the rv082 WAN1 port.i have the one-to-one-NAT configured sequentially on the WAN and LAN side on the rv082 with nothing else hooked up to the 2wire. For example, one-to-one-NAT configuration in the rv082:
WAN range: 66.77.88.91 to 66.77..88.93
LAN range: 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.4
The 2wire is allocating the first public static IP in the range to the rv082 (i.e. 66.77.88.91). This works 100% reliably for this address - however because I can only assign a single address in the 2wire interface the other devices are no longer accessible externally. Curiously it kind of partially works, but not reliably. I can briefly connect to one of the other addresses (say xx.92), but then connectivity is lost to the others.Someone suggested I try using the Dual-WAN feature to get at least two addresses assigned to the rv082. Seemed like a good idea in theory, i.e. because the 2 WAN ports have different MAC addresses, the 2wire should see two different devices and allow me effectively to assign two public IPs to the rv082, e.g. 66.77.88.91 to WAN1 and 66.77.88.92 to WAN2. Of course failover mode won't work here, because only one is connected at a time. However the load-balancing mode did seem like it may work, but something is going on that I don't understand. Internal connectivity is working fine and I can access the internet, but for some reason the 2wire is getting really confused and constantly re-assigning IP addresses to the rv082. I don't know if this is because the host name is the same for both WAN1 and WAN2 ports, or there is something in how the rv082 does the load balancing.
- Is there any tricks to getting the Dual-WAN to work in the way needed to essentially have two simultaneous internet connections?
- Would it be possible to buy a 2nd rv082 and have it on the same LAN? How would I configure this?
- Is there an alternative Cisco router that may work better with what I'm trying to do?
Today, while surfing the web my internet connection on my PC just randomly shuts off. I go check on my laptop and its normal. My WiFi says that I am connected to an Unidentified network with no internet access. So i got frustrated and checked all the forums and nothing seemed to work. So i restored my computer to factory settings and I still got this problem. Does this mean my Wifi Card is bad? Is it a virus? I can see other networks fine but i just cant connect to mine!

The 3801 currently feeds a wired lan through three 16 and 8 port switches, and feeds way too many wireless users too. Plus, the 3801 also feeds the VOIP phone system and TV (non HD). I now know the 3801 has a max of 10 or 12 IP addresses that it can handle (where was that little detail in the AT&T material?). The 1701 can and has fed more than 50 wireless and wired connections easily for years. So, what needs to be done make the 1701 feed the wired and wireless lan from the 3801 gateway, as well as let the 3801 continue to feed the VOIP, TV, and some of the wireless lan needs at the same time?
