I have WRT54G2 router. All settings are more-less default and the behavior is following.You start up the router. If you do not connect wireless device within 10 minutes, then you have to restart the router.You have assigned IP via wifi, and when you connect cable device to the router, the wifi PCs are disconnected.
View 3 RepliesMy internet (wired and wireless) usually works fine, but occasionally (read: every few days to weeks) the connection will suddenly black out for a period of time, anywhere from an hour to a day. I have tried resetting both my router and modem, and going through all the settings on my laptop, but I'm pretty sure it's not my computer, as no other devices can connect either. During the blackouts, when I look at the modem, the internet light will turn on for a second, then go off and then the red "alarm" light (aka "something is wrong" light) starts blinking like crazy, and this keeps repeating. This resolves itself after anywhere from a few hours to a whole day and everything is normal again. The light show, and the fact that I can't find any other problems, leads me to believe that it could be a problem with my provider (or the network itself) and not a hardware or software problem, but I can't be sure of this.Also, during the blackouts, I can connect to the network, but it shows that limited connectivity symbol (exclamation mark thing) and says no internet.

After a few hours, it looks like the WAN port stops forwarding traffic to the Internet gateway IP of the device.If I unplug and then plug in the network cable connecting the WAN port of the SR520W to my the modem, traffic startings flowing again. Also, if I restart the SR520W, the traffic will flow again.

It gets IP, but writes "isn't internet connection, WiFi network don't find" and also in the admipage of my wrt320 I can't see Time Capsule as client.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've tried all sorts of settings, and I'm still holding out that its a setting possibly, but I have a E3500 and devices on both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz... Most of them, probably when idle, seem to stop working over WIfi. They still have decent connection, but every internet related request just times out. Disable and reinable the wifi and it works great again.
Could this be defective wifi radios? or could it really be interference? I have it happening on multiple devices. Also, I'm not far away from the router when it occurs, and when I reconnect, it seems to work just fine for a while. Basically the big problem is on the cell phones and tablets because I'll miss notifications... I'll turn off the wifi and turn it back on when I use the device next, then a flood of notifications will come in. Again, it's not just a phone thing, tablets and laptops have the same problem, that's just the main reason I want it fixed.
I recently purchased a X2000 ADSL modem/router combination. For some reason the current time will not stay set to the time zone. Rebooting clears the discrepancy for a short time before it drops an hour exactly. I'm in the central time zone and the setting are correct on the basic setup.?

View 3 Replies View RelatedCiso 1941 router frozen once a day, sometimes after 2 to 7 days. When the router frozen, no internet connection and cannot login/ping ethernet ports. I can login to console port and copy the error messages below. Reload the router and it will return back to normal operation. Re-installed IOS but still the same.

- when i open more than 2 or 3 browser windows or anything that access internet, it stop routing
- shutdown and power up make it work again (then stops again after some simultaneous tcp connections)
- hard reset dont work

I just bought a WAP321 Wireless AP. I wonder why it cannot sync with our time server automatically. Every time I reboot it, the system time become "Fri Dec 31 1999 12:00:00 UCT". I have to do the sync manually by clicking on the "Save" button under the menu Administration > Time Setting.

I also have Qos Engine on for allowing me to have 2 xboxes on Open NAT.problem is my wireless signal for some wired reason is VERY weak. A while ago it used to work really far way outside. It was around 150ft distance at 4 bars. Now for some reason I can't even go upstairs without getting a 1 or 2 bar signal.

I have a Philco PHN 15006. My drivers should be up to date. Since I've started using it, I noticed I lose connection with internet and then I have to restart the switch/router. Then, it starts working again. I used to have to just open the Solve Problems and then it would connect again. But now, I tried just unplugging the Ethernet Cable and plugging it again. It had the same effect as restarting the switch. So, the problem must be in the notebook.The wireless internet is worse, because it connects for a while then stops connecting, while my other computer connects with no problems.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 2911 router with 4 T1 connections. Two are set as a multilink and the other two are for two other locations. The router will run fine, but after a month I cannot ping the gigabit ethernet 0/0 interface. I would have to manually reboot the router to get it to respond again. Before I noticed a lot of interface discards which would shutdown the 2911 and a manual reboot would be needed, but for this time it isn't the case. Where would I start with this the memory and cpu usage are fine.

my timer warner router connect to a swith (linksys), and the swith connect to 2 computer. When i restart one of the computer, the internet don't work, but the networking is working, i need to reset the modem by unplug and unplug the line of one computer (so only one computer is hook up to swith and then to the router).... after i got the internet connection from that computer, then i can hook up another computer successfully. But after I reboot one computer, the internet connection won't work again

View 2 Replies View Relatedi recently bought an E1200 to replace my old Linksys router that died. I set it up smoothly and i can connect any device to it easily. But i have one major problem with it, it always disconnects every time at 1am or something. I usually leave my PC to sleep mode and when i wake up i just take it off sleep mode, now i had this router for about 4 days and every morning when i turn the PC on the internet connection is gone/disconneted. I cant repair it from the Network Sharing Center, i need to restart it THEN repair it and it always says that the Local Area Connection is disabled even though i didnt even touch any of it. I tried putting it in sleep mode in the morning and then turning it on again but the internet is still connected, it just happens when i go to sleep at night, really weird.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a brand-new WRT160N router (just installed FW v3.0.02) that I am using in mixed mode, 20MHz only, Channel 11, not filtering anonymous requests, beacon at 2306, RTS at 2307, fragmentation at 2346, MTU at 1400.
These settings bring the response from a simple ping command over the wireless network down to approximately 6ms on average, which is good. However, when I still noticed inconsistency with my internet response over wireless, I decided to do a test.
By simply running the "ping" command on 192.168.1.1 (the router address) over the wireless network repeatedly (approx 3 seconds between commands), I can see that approximately every 65 seconds or so, router response time increases to over 100ms for a few seconds, then decreases down to 6 ms or so for another 65-70 seconds. See the chart below. The interval looks pretty consistent to me, with the exception of one stretch where it goes for over two minutes without a spike. I see this pattern regardless of what else I'm doing over the network. I do not see this behavior running the same test when physically wired to the router (ping response time is a flat line at 0ms).
I bought a e4200 router about 3 weeks ago and after a power outage it decided it didnt like being connected to the internet anymore. So i got on the phone with cisco they determined the router was no good, mind you my laptop would connect wired. So they sent me a "refurbished" one, so i set it up. The new setup was wonky because it said the same message "Your connected to your router but..." then after trying to get the connection its self and failing it came up with "congratulations you are now connected to the internet". That lasted 3hrs and 45mins then died, so i went upstairs to power cycle it, it decided to connect with the old settings. That lased 25mins then died, so i reset it and reconfigured the router. Wouldnt connect, i checked my mac address and it was using my wireless one and kept turning on my wireless connection durring the install. So i cloned my wired mac address and got the internet for roughly an hour... then it died. So i reset it again and kept the wifi off got it going and decided to go to sleep. I wake up and its still working after 8hrs, i go down stairs with my tablet and i dies again. This time it refuses to reconnect, refuses to reset back up just doesnt want to work.

At around 18.00 i returned home and i was trying to connect to the wifi with my android phone, and suprisingly it did not work. I tried on my laptop and on a android tablet. It did not work. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have the e4200, well, I have had 2 e4200s and they both have had the same issue.I set up my e4200 manually with wpa2 security and I was getting about -50db rssi at my recieving device. Everything tested/worked fine and I went on with life.Without moving the router or anything else over the course of about 3 days the signal had dropped to -71dbm. I power cycled the router and it went back to -53dbm. I tried multiple channels and the same thing keeps happening.The same thing happened a few more times, I contacted tech support, but they just had me change channels.I took the router back for an exchange and the new one has done the same thing in LESS time!The router has the latest firmware and I keep it on an elevated plastic stand to prevent overheating.

It was initially fine, however now the internet is disconnecting at an absurd rate, at least 3 within an hr, sometimes more, and the only way it would reestablish connection is by unplugging and replugging.I have called time warner's customer support and they said it was because of the router. I have searched through various threads and saw and some had similar problems, but they were related to wireless instead of wired ( my case) so is there some settings i can change within the linksys to minimize the amount of disconnections? Becaused based on the log from the RCA,it seems that they are not reading each other too well. Are there any other routers that may establish a connection better than the GS?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe recently upgraded to the linksys ea4500 router. My brother plays call of duty on the PS3 and I play call of duty on the Xbox. The issue is we cannot figure out how to have open NAT on both consoles at the same time. I've read multiple support guides, but they don't seem to work. I'm pretty sure it's possible since I've gotten both to be open after reseting the router. The problem is it doesn't stay open on both for very long. We can get one to be open, while the other is stuck on moderate.
We've tried port range forwarding and port range triggering. By default, the PS3 is open. To get the Xbox to open, i disable 'filter anonymous requests' in the security settings, and disable UPnP. (With UPnP enabled, the is ps3 is open & xbox is moderate, with it off, xbox is open and ps3 is moderate).

I use this router to replace the FO rooter that my ISP provides with the service as it's too limited (no NAT name translation, closes NAT, no uPnP etc...)
So the WR841ND acts as my main router, DHCP server, WiFi AP for all my network. My problem is that once in a while ( every 1 or 2 days) the wireless loses functionality, I still can see it from my devices, but can't connect, even fixing the IP (apparently not a DHCP issue then). The only way to fix this is to shut down the router 10 sec and restart it.
This brings another issue, I have another router (WR741) in WDS dispatching the signal to another part of the house to wired devices (Xbox , wd tv live hub) and it loses the WDS link, again the only way for this router to recover it is to restart it which is annoying.
Since lion is there for a while, it is still not possible to make a time machine backup on an USB hdd that's connected to the router. is Cisco coming with an firmware update?
