Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT120N Blocks Access After Some Time?
Mar 4, 2013
i have router lynksys WRT120N and the latest 1.0.0.7 firmware. And the problem occured frequently. At about 13.00 i went out, wifi was working okay. At around 18.00 i returned home and i was trying to connect to the wifi with my android phone, and suprisingly it did not work. I tried on my laptop and on a android tablet. It did not work. The only thing that i could figure it out is to reset the router. I checked the settings, and there was no access policy e.g. time based access blocking.

I have a Cisco WRT120N Router and a Cisco Valet AM10 wireless adapter. Almost every time the computer reboots, I loose my network and I have to redo the AM10 setup. The AM10 is the only device that loses the connection, my lap top and printer do not lose the connection.
Problem 2: Everytime I upplug and replug the AM10 a window pops up saying I need to check the drive for errors but none
are found.
Problem 3: I downloaded the AM10 install program, Downloadable.Setup.AM10.1.2.10148.2. It does not work. If I try to run it Iget an error message that the setup canot be completed and to call in for support.
Problem 4: When I can get it working is shows that it is Wireless Connection 5. Why 5 and not 1? Where are the other 4?

I can't access the web based setup via 192.168.1.1. I've had this problem since I swapped to Static Ip from PPPoE. I changed internet provider and now when it type 192.168.1.1 in the browser it says Internet explorer can't show the web page. I've tried Crome and FireFox but with the same result. I followed the instructions in [URL] but to no result.

My Wireless-N Home Router WRT120N with version 1.0.07 seems to have a problem blocking Sites through scheduling with Access Restriction "Allow" ...I notice that... when I enable access restriction, with policy and some range of computers connecting to my router , and set it to "allow" from "monday - friday" from "8am-6pm" .. with a purpose of blocking some social networking sites, example facebook, It works perfectly fine. But when the "scheduled" time comes ( before 8am and after 6pm ).. I cannot access the internet.. router is working, it detects my modem.. but no internet connection. It always happen before and after the "scheduled time" before the configured access restriction takes over. I have to disable the Access Restriction to continue our internet access.

I have the CISCO Linksys Wireless Router Model Number: WRT120N. My laptop is finding the router, and connecting to it fine. However, when I try to log onto the internet, it says no internet connection (same in the available net work section in the menu bar).Internet (Charter) they have checked the modem and there is no issue. I have also plugged the Ethernet cord directly from the modem into the computer, and unable to access the internet.

I reset my router (WRT120N) and used a laptop with cable connection to reconfigure the router. With the laptop I can acces the router admin wireless, but with my home pc I am not able to acces the router! I get "The username or password you've entered is incorrect. Please check and try again." Like I said, wireless acces with laptop is no problem. Is this a security issue that allows only acces with computer that you configured the router?

I have been using Mozilla Firefox for about 5 or 6 years now, and I have always been able to access any router setup through Firefox. Now though, I strangely can't. I try to log in from Firefox and I get stuck at the log in dialog box even if I use the correct password. If I cancel, the router assumes that I do not know the password and I get the standard Linksys access denied page. I then start using IE[current version], and I can log in absolutely fine. I can still use Firefox to browse the internet. I can ping the router. I can use Firefox to access the router setup from a different machine.

WRT120N router: After several hours on the phone with Technical support I got nowhere. Guy had me putting in "admin" in the user name then the PW. I kept getting the 401 authorization required message. After all that I reset my router and used the disk to setup again. After that I went again to the 192.168.1.1 and got the request for authorization, entered admin in the PW and it does nothing, just reloads the request and browser keeps connecting. I have WIN 7 HP, use Firefox 5.0 mostly, but tried on IE8 as well and it does the same thing. I am attempting to open a port.

Have a PS3 that will connect to my wrt120n if I unplug the modem and router then plug back in after 2 minutes. if I shut off my PS3 or after approx 1 hour, PS3 drops my connection. I'm trying to access my router page online but after entering the default into my browser, the pop up box will not accept any combo of entries to allow me access. I have an SSID name and my router is password protected. It does not connect me when I use any combo of user name or password or the default "admin".

Before, I can access admin panel of router via 192.168.1.1 on any computer, be it wired or wireless. This time, I can't anymore. This time, I can only access admin panel on 1 computer only. The computer in which it's directly connected to the router, wired. All other computers, connected to a switch, which the switch is also connected to router, can no longer access admin panel.I can still open 192.168.1.1 with a username/password prompt but I can't log in. It's like it's always wrong password. Same with accessing from laptop (wireless). Before, I can access admin panel from any computer (wired), even from laptop (wireless). There are times that I have to restart router in order to fix my internet connection. Only this time, I have to access it from the computer that's directly connected to router (wired). How do I revert it back so that all computers will be able to connect to admin panel of router?I have just finished upgrading firmware from 1.0.05 to 1.0.06 but I still have the same problem.

I have NM 5.5.9195.0 and WRT120N Linksys router. I have an Ipod using WIFI to connect to the network which I would like to restrict times for. Using the access restriction page in the manage/setup of the router seems to not work well. The system does recognize the MAC address of the Ipod but setting times to allow or deny gives me odd results. The allow button actually denies use for one thing. Secondly, the deny time ends, but the Ipod still cannot connect sometimes. It is like the system gets stuck in deny. I have tested using a random 5 minute deny time period, yet the Ipod is denied all times. The system is consistent in denying the Ipod (actually using the allow button) but not on the times.

I have a WRT120N with Firmware 1.0.06..First peculiarity is that I can't access the web based admin screen from Firefox 7.0.1. The password prompt appears but won't proceed from there.Second, and main issue is that frequently (several times a day) I get a 'Limited Access' error on my wireless connection. On mouse roll over Windows 7 Pro gives the error message 'no internet access'. This problem appears to resolve itself after several minutes or straight away if the router is powercycled. During these 'Limited Access' moments I am unable to connect to the route web based admin page nor ping or tracert. [code]

With M10, I cannot restrict internet access for specific time period. Parent Control feature doesn't satisfy the situation, and there is no build-in access-policy in web-based setup. Are you going to upgrade firmware or Cisco Connect with more flexible access time control?

I have a Linksys WRT310N V2 wireless router. Last week it started blocking access to our family website. That website appears to be the only one that is blocked. Every other website we have tried works just fine. I have tried the following.Remove the WRT310N router and plug a computer directly into the broadband modem. After this everything works fine for the one computer I have hooked into the internet.Remove the WRT310N router and substitute an old Linksys non-wireless router. Everything works fine for the hardwired computers on the LAN. Again, not really an option, need wireless access.
Unplug the router and so a soft reset. Still blocks this one website.I have not done a hard reset to factory specs. I wasn't looking forward to redoing everything I had set up.I looked over every setting in this router and can't find anything that would cause it to block a web page. I am far from a networking expert, but most of the settings seem pretty obvious.

No problem setting up the FTP server on the router. It's working perfectly from inside the LAN. But any attempt to access the built-in server from the WAN side is fruitless. I found that if I turn off the IP4 SPI on the router, I can suddenly connect to the built-in ftp server without issue from the Internet. If the SPI option is checked, its a no go.
Is this a bug? I can't imagine that it is intentionally set up such that you have to turn off the firewall in order to use the FTP function externally. At least it isn't mentioned anywhere I can find and it wouldn't seem logical.

ATT Uverse modem provides internet for the house. Uverse modem also includes a wifi router. The HP C410a printer is connected wirelessly to the Uverse router. The printer is able to access the internet, and all computers (including the problem Mac) can print wirelessly when wirelessly connected to the Uverse router. The Mac sits at the opposite end of the house, far outside the range of the Uverse router. To solve this, we have a Netgear Powerline adapter connected to the Uverse router to provide internet over powerlines throughout the house. At the opposite end of the house, the Linksys E1000 is connected by ethernet to the Netgear Powerline outlet. This setup works - all computers, including the Mac, can wirelessly connect to the E1000 and there is fast internet access.
Two different PC's can print wirelessly to the HP C410a while connected to the E1000 - it works perfectly. However, the Mac can't print via the E1000 - I have to carry the Mac over to be in range of the Uverse router and then print. When you try to print on the Mac, it can't "find" the printer. However, if I open the HP print utility on the Mac and manually enter the IP address of the printer, a new printer pops up and I can make it print test pages. But I still can't print anything else from the Mac.
The Mac can print if the E1000 is bypassed with a physical ethernet connection to the Powerline outlet. So the conflict is definitely between the E1000 and the Mac, because everything else works in every other combination.I think something in the E1000 is preventing the print driver on the Mac from sending data to the printer, because the Mac can "communicate" with the printer via the HP print utility software, but whenever you try to print using the driver it can't connect to the printer. I disabled the E1000 firewall

I am currently using a Linksys E2500 router and cannot get a strong enough signal to an upstairs bedroom for my wife's iPad 2. I have a spare Linksys WRT120N that I would like to utilize to increase the signal upstairs. There is no way I can run a CAT 5 cable to that room. I believe both routers have WDS.

The old configuration was a Linksys/Cisco WRT120N plugged into a NETGEAR ProSafe VPN Firewall FV336GV2. I will list the settings below, but the short of it is that the WiFi router was in charge of getting the wireless clients but the Firewall was the one that assigned IP addresses and all that. This setup worked out just fine except that the WiFi router was in the basement and clients could only connect to it while still in the basement. They wanted to be able to connect to the network wirelessly while on the third floor, but couldn't even see the basement router from there. We shipped out an identical router configured beforehand exactly the same way, save for its MAC address and local IP address (those having premonitions, during troubleshooting I try setting different radio channels as well). The client plugged an Ethernet cable from the wall to port #2, and a desktop to port #3.
The desktop has internet access. Wirelessly, however, had issues The client only had a single laptop to test with, an XP SP3 machine. Unfortunately I couldn't pull specs from it as of this post, so I don't know if it connected by G or N. This laptop, which worked fine in the basement, wouldn't connect upstairs (it would sit trying to get an IP address forever) until I had him "forget" the basement network. At this point, he was able to connect to the upstairs router and access the internet. However, he could then no longer use the access point in the basement. I tried the same troubleshooting steps, like having him delete the wireless profiles from his network card and rebooting the router, but he couldn't even see the basement router while down there anymore.
Occasionally, it would show up for a moment, then disappear before he could connect to it. To make sure it was the basement router that was briefly appearing, I renamed the upstairs router to something else; this confirmed that indeed it was the basement router that was doing the "now you see me, now you don't" act. I then tried setting the basement router to Channel 1 while leaving the upstairs one at Channel 6. Still nothing, even though the laptop was about 25 feet away from the basement router and I had him wipe the wireless profile again. Rebooting the computer didn't solve the issue either. After this, I named the upstairs router back to the same as the downstairs one and had him go upstairs to test; he could connect to it right away.
I figure this is either a configuration issue on the laptop or routers (or firewall). Unfortunately, there weren't any other wireless clients to test with, and I'm not sure there will be when I continue troubleshooting on Monday. By the way, I looked for a "bridge mode" option on the WRT120N and couldn't find one; I'm told that the firmware doesn't support it. I don't feel comfortable putting on alternative firmware unless it's literally the only thing that will solve this. The configurations for the networking equipment are listed below.
NETGEAR ProSafe Firewall:
IP Address: 192.168.50.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
DHCP Server: Enabled
Starting IP address: 192.168.50.50
