With M10, I cannot restrict internet access for specific time period. Parent Control feature doesn't satisfy the situation, and there is no build-in access-policy in web-based setup. Are you going to upgrade firmware or Cisco Connect with more flexible access time control?

Used devices:
1x SRP 540 router
1x SG 300-10P managed switch
4x AP 541N accesspoint
What we want to do:
1. Around 100 laptops and desktop computers need wireless internet access, but some of them on limited times during the day.
2. Not all wireless devices are allowed on using the wireless network.
3. There are also wired desktops that don't need restrictions.
4. We need the possibility to restrict most of the wireless devices to access certain websites or use certain applications on those computers to use internet access during the times that the computers are allowed to access the internet.
5. We want to restrict the clients for using torrents or other possibilities of downloading illegal content.
What we were able to do:
1. The accesspoints (AP 541N) are clustered to achieve 1 large wireless network.
2. Only mac-adresses that are listed in the accesspoints are capable of using the wireless network. Other mac-adresses are not allowed to use the accesspoints.
What we tried already:
1. adding the mac-adresses for the accesspoints to the list of "internet access policy" in the router. Internet access seemed still possible during periods the access wasn't supposed to be possible.
2. adding the mac-adresses from all clients in this internet access policy seemed useless. Only 10 Internet Access Policies seem to be possible to program. 8 mac-adresses per policy. Knowing there are (at least) two policies needed to restrict a group of 8 macs to access the internet in 24 hours (because blocking the internet from f.e. 22u in the evening to 6 in the morning is not possible because 6 is smaller than 22 - or 10PM).Besides, after blocking internet access, we need also to write policies in blocking some websites or keywords.
How to block a specific website with a specific time (office hours) for example "facebook" I want to block facebook within 8AM - 12Noon then 12-1 they can access the website, then 1-4 block again the website .

how i should set up my new valet m-10.Im currently using a WRT54G as my main router connected to my modem in my home office, and a WAP54 set up as a repeater in the living Room. We have multiple devices still using Wireless G, and a few that have Wireless N so im wanting to use the valet just for my N devices and My WRT54 & WAP54 for the G. So do I just cascade the valet off the WRT54? or should I make the Valet the main Router and cascade the G routers? the reason I have the repeater is because the wireless signal is weak in the living room and bedrooms.

No apparent sign that it's alive. I've owned it troublefree for just over a year, but it is out of warranty. Any way to tell if there is hope of reviving it or if I'm just out of luck? Nothing happened at my end to cause this -- no power interruptions or other odd occurrences.

I select a computer (and it automatically adds the MAC address) and then the days/times I want the internet to be accessible. However, when I click "add" (to add my internet allowance to the scheduler list) it just says 12:00 to 0:00, which is essentially permanently blocking the internet for that computer.

I thought that the problem could be with Comcast, but I tested my Mac with a cable directly connected into the cable modem and it worked fine. I was able to access every site.
It could be a problem with browser security, but I even tested with different computers (Mac, PC's, Ipad, Smartphones) and none of them were able to access the [URL] wirelessly.
It seems something strange with the router. I tested some forum solutions (MUT, QoS) but they didn't work.

At around 18.00 i returned home and i was trying to connect to the wifi with my android phone, and suprisingly it did not work. I tried on my laptop and on a android tablet. It did not work. I called my ISP who said there was nothing wrong on their end. Plugging directly into my modem allows me to access the Internet. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT54GS router that I have installed dd-wrt on.My household is overloaded with wireless devices, and living in a home of 6, speeds for everyone seem to slow down drastically later at night when everyone is simultaneously connected and streaming media -- whether it be Netflix, YouTube, etc.. My typical speed wired to the router with no other connections is around 25 mb/s down and 1-2 mb/s up.Obviously, it's going to slow to a crawl when we have an iPad, 3 iPod touches, an iPhone, a Wii (playing Netflix) and 4 PCs all connected simultaneously.What I need to do is give my personal computer priority and throttle all other devices. So that I myself will have decent speeds while hampering all of the other household connections. I rely on those speeds for my job and that should have priority over my brother watching music videos on YouTube.

Let's say I'm using a Linksys E4200. Is there a good way to configure the above scenario with the default firmware? Is it possible with non-default firmware such as DD-WRT or Tomato? I do not have experience with this but have no problem learning.
My understanding is that this can be done by placing "Machine C" in the DMZ. Unfortunately, I am told a lot of home routers do not have a secure way of setting up DMZ by default. The two routers solution can work but still requires restricting administrative access from "Machine C" and adds an additional potential point of failure.
I've purchased a WRT310N router to replace an existing wired router, and am in the process of setting up the outbound firewall rules. While I see settings to restrict access to all sites (or specific sites) for a specific protocol, I don't see an easy way to only allow access to one specific site.I want to restrict outbound SMTP to one server (my ISP's).

My ISP dynamicly assigns IP's so I have my New E4200V2 set up as Automatic Configuration DHCP. I want to be ablt to use a specific DNS server rather than the one issues by my ISP.No matter what values are in the Static DNS 1, 2 and 3 the router continues to pull a DNS from my ISp. My POS old D-link 615 was able to utilize a custom DNS server with no issues so surely ther emyst be a way to do the same on the E4200.
