View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT54GL v. 1.1 that has been dropping connection speed (starts at 54mb, then drops to 48mbs, 36mbs, 28mbs, down to 1mbs) then disconnects, then reconnects at 54 mbs. After a short while, it will drop the speed again until it disconnects and reconnects again. This is the third Linksys WRT54GL that has done this. The first one was 5 years old before it started doing this in February, the second was 3 months old, and now the replacement Linksys sent to me is doing this?
What is going on with my router? I am able to connect fine with the Cat5 cable, but wireless seems to be the problem. Even my phone(s) get disconnected from the wireless router. This problem just recently started and I don't know why, no settings had been changed on any of the routers until after the problem had already ocurred, then the Linksys phone tech support had me make multiple changes.
I have a linksys WRT54GL with the latest firmware. I know QoS feature can limit bandwidth based on priority. But QoS feature is only for wired network, is there any good ways to limit bandwidth?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThere is no "blinking light" indication on my E3000 at the Internet (Yellow label) and Ethernet port no 4. I tried plugging in 2 cables at all of the ports. I got the blinking indication at Port 1 through 3. The same cable's have no response at Port 4 and Internet port. As a result my I am not able to connect to the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased a Linksys WAG320N (firmware V1.00.12) to replace my old ZyXEL P-660H-D1.I've managed to set it up roughly the same in terms of the ports I want open and port forwarding, with one exception: I can enable a port to be forwarded to an IP address on my network, but I can't find anywhere to set it so that the port is only allowed from a specific IP address outside of the network, e.g.
Accept port [some number] from [some Internet address] into 192.168.1.2 but reject attempts from others.I thought it might be in Access Restrictions but that only covers internal IP addresses.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was very happy working with my WRT610N connected to the ethernetport of my previous internet modem. Recently I had to switch to a new modem CISCO EPC3925. Unfortunately this combination does not work anymore. I don't get an internet connection on my WRT610N anymore. I therefore have to connect all computers (LAN and WIFI) to this EPC3925. Especially for the WIFI I'm not fully happy. My IPAD2 sometimes does not want to connect, a problem which never occurred when connecting to WRT610N.
I probably need to change a setting, but where? In the EPC3925 or in WRT610N?
A couple hours ago, I set up a temporary AdHoc to share or "tether" the internet connection from a laptop (which got its internet from a router), to my iPod Touch. It worked fine and everything, in fact I was pleasantly surprised by the speed of it. Since it was a temporary AdHoc, I disconnected, and the network was deleted as expected. After a while I wanted to do it again, but when I tried to make the AdHoc, the option to "Share Internet Connection" has disappeared. I'm really puzzled as it worked just a while back, and now even the option is gone. Did some research on it and found out that it's some weird bug that had never been addressed. It had to do with the LAN and Wireless network adapters apparently and one of them had to have the ICS option checked and the other one didn't (something like that). Here are the screenshots of those settings on both my network adapters. Both adapters are enabled, except the LAN isn't "connected" since my primary way of getting internet is through a router connected to another computer.

I have a WRT54G router and for some reason I'm unable to receive the media stream at my home, but when I connected to my friends N-type router it works fine. I have no other connectivity issues. The only thing that I remember doing that may have caused this was to upgrade my firmware because my droid phone wouldn't connect.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a spare WAG160N lying around which I want to test to see if I can get a better range with it than my current router.My internet is connected via a cable modem which I connect to the ethernet port 1 on the WAG160N - which in my experience with other wireless routers - will work and broadcasts internet through wifi. However I can't seem to get it to work.After doing a bit of searching I found that some people say this isn't possible on the WAG160N while others say it's possible if I switch the port 1 to "Use as WAN port" in the ethernet setting tab page (Tried it, still doesn't work). I can obviously connect to the router setting page but no internet is flowing through (And the internet LED does not light up)
What settings do I need to use to make this work or is it indeed impossible? It's in bridge mode only at the moment with other settings untouched from factory defaults.One person says it's possible but I can only get it to work with 1 device because it's assigning the public IP on the cable modem onto the one device - but I couldn't get this to work either.
I have both a Sony XBR52HX909 and a Sony BDP-S580 connected to my router (WRT54GL)via ethernet. When I try to connect to the internet, both show the wired connection as good but neither can connect to the internet. The BDP-S580 also has wireless connectivity, but it can’t connect to the internet wirelessly. I have two desktop computers connected via ethernet and two laptops connected wirelessly to the same router and all have internet connectivity. I have tried the “auto” settings on the TV and Blu-Ray player and also tried entering the network information in manually. I still can’t connect to the internet.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to use a WRT54GL with U-Verse. The problem is that the router does not get a connection to the modem. It can't ping the modem, and it doesn't show up on on the list of devices connected to the modem. DHCP assigns an IP address of 127.0.0.1, which is outside the range of the modem [192.168.1.1 ... 192.168.1.253]. The router is also showing a default gateway of 0.0.0.0, and a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0. (And yes, I have released and renewed the lease, rebooted the modem, and reconnected the modem.) The router WAN side is set to DHCP, and the operating mode was changed from gateway to router (the gateway setting doesn't work either, for that matter).

I am wondering if there is any benefit with using an 802.11n wireless router to access the Internet? The maximum theoretical speed of the WRT54GL router is 54 Mbps (802.11g), which is faster than the 15 Mbps provided by my ISP.
I know that 802.11n has a max bandwidth of 300 Mbps, and it would work for intra- house transfers, such as streaming video from one computer to another.
But is there any benefit to 802.11n for Internet activity, such as web browsing, gaming, and streaming video from Netflix.
