i have DSL router in my home using wifi by it... it is on sharing by DHCP mode. and my question is how to restrict bandwidth to other users? like full access to one use and 50-60 kbps to another user?
I have a Linksys WRV200 and I wanted to know how can I restrict the internet speed for each computer on my network. Example: if my connection is 2 Mbps, One computer should have 1 Mpbs guaranteed, and the rest should split the rest.
WRT54GL has an option to restrict or share the bandwidth equally to each ethernet port or wireless? I need this option in a low bandwith area because the first computer connected to the router who makes some traffic (e.g. youtube) takes all the bandwith allocated by the ISP. url...
How to restrict my Router by putting in a Pass word so my neighbours could be stopped using my highspeed internet and thus makinit weaker for my household.
I have an issue that my 4 daughters are accessing the internet at all ungodly hours of the night via their mobile phones and ipods. Not only should they be in bed but they are racking up our internet useage. We can't turn off the router altogether as one of those daughters, is also up at ungodly hours, with Uni work and another doing her finals for Year 12. Am i able to block their access somehow through the router without loosing the entire internet?
I have a 16 port hub (NM-16ESW) installed in this router. Is there a way to lock down this hub so that only whitelisted machines will be allowed to connect to its ports? ie: by mac address or some other type of permission method? How to be able to plug their computer into the hub and join the network unless their device has been ok'd first.
I've purchased a WRT310N router to replace an existing wired router, and am in the process of setting up the outbound firewall rules. While I see settings to restrict access to all sites (or specific sites) for a specific protocol, I don't see an easy way to only allow access to one specific site.I want to restrict outbound SMTP to one server (my ISP's).
is there a way to restrict the upload and download of computers on a wireless network (or at least get the router to favor one computer over the others?)i have a tp-link TD-W8960N router and the computer i need the extra bandwidth on is connected to the router via cable
With M10, I cannot restrict internet access for specific time period. Parent Control feature doesn't satisfy the situation, and there is no build-in access-policy in web-based setup. Are you going to upgrade firmware or Cisco Connect with more flexible access time control?
I have a Cisco 887M router which I wish to restrict the devices allowed to be connected/allocated an IP address to two, and *only* two.
I can't, for the life of me, find out how to allow these two devices to connect to ANY port - I can configure a MAC restriction on a single port, but I don't know how to make it so that I can allow JUST these two devices to connect to any port in the 4 port switch/VLAN (VLAN 1 is used because the mongrel who set this up was lazy). I know the MAC addresses I want to allow
How I can do this? I *can* restrict any given port to the two MAC addresses - but if I try to add the MAC addresses to another port, they get removed from the initial one. I need to be able to have them connect to ANY port and work, but allow NOTHING else to work.
For those wondering, this is to counter a user who is utilising company resources for purposes not approved - and costing us quite a bit of money in the process.
I have a XSR-1805 (Version 7.5.0.0) enterasys router here. Got SNMP server to work successfully. The thing is that I couldn't make the router restrict a range of address allowed to use a community. Only 10.1.0.13 is allowed to use SNMP in this case.
I have a WRT54G router and for some reason I'm unable to receive the media stream at my home, but when I connected to my friends N-type router it works fine. I have no other connectivity issues. The only thing that I remember doing that may have caused this was to upgrade my firmware because my droid phone wouldn't connect.
I am using 3945E Router as Easy VPN Server, with 15.1 IOS. On router I have bunch on usernames for VPN authentication, I want to restrict Router management access for them(ssh, telnet, http and so on).
We have 1 mpbs bandwidth line, but most of the time we are getting only 300-500 kpbs download speed, i want to send statistics report to our ISP, what will be best procedure to test the bandwidth report, i have checked in some websites like bandwidthplace and speedtest but these sites are not accurate, how to check the actual bandwidth we getting from ISP against 1 Mbps. We have solarwinds monitoring tool in this i have configured the WAN interface for 1 mbps
In our neighborhood we have about 10 residents on a LAN controlled by 1 resident. For connection I have a LAN modem which connects wirelessly to an aerial at resident 1. I have 2 computers one with Win 7 Ultimate and one with XP SP3. Thinking incorrectly that I was setting up a home network, in trying to get my 2 PC's to talk to one another I have permissions set up for everyone on both machines. However I have discovered that now all 10 residents can see my 2 PC's. While I can see both PC's from either machine, in trying to change the "Everyone" to restrict access to the names of each of the 2 pcs only, I can only see users and Administrator on that particular machine only and cannot add a user/name of the other PC. How can I stop the other residents from seeing my machine but allow me to see either of my machines from one another?

I'm paying for a 50 mbs connection. So what should I expect to have as a general connection speed? I know it changes depending on where you are and where your downloading from etc. But I have this old killxenos nic that might be restricting my download speed? Im getting about 3mbs. Ive gotta be able to get more then that right? Like don't tell me I'm paying for 50 but I only get 3.
got myself the Netgear internal PCI wifi adapter today & it works just fine on my Windows XP SP3 desktop.
The only problem I have is the question of restricting access to kids @ home. If it was an external USB adapter, I could have just taken it away but the concern is the device being an internal & always available one. The user configuration on the PC is such that there is 1 main administrator (The actual windows "administrator" account) that no one uses. Apart from that,
- 1 user with admin privileges (me)
- 1 limited account for the kid
- 1 admin privilege account for the kid again (for purposes like installation of games which require an admin account as mandatory)
I would like for the wifi PCI card to work only when I login to my account. There must be someway by which I could disable the device or make the internet inaccesible in the other accounts,, (but pls bear that 1 of the account that the kid uses also has admin privilege)
I tried disabling the device from control panel but in vain.. (tried something like the sys admins do in corporates ..) disabling the usb ports on the PC's in my office..!
We're planning to ope a coffee house for teens at my church. We want the internet to be accessible to them but want to restrict what sites they can access so homework, games, etc. can be accessed but not the stuff rated for violent, rrisky behaviors.
Have a new DIR-825 setup at home for coverage to another part of the house. I want to completely restrict clients using this WAP from accessing a couple internal IP's (that I use for work-related things). Restriction meaning filesharing, ping, RDP, etc - everything. Can this be done on the router side?
I have joined my ACS box to the domain and can auth users in active directory groups. I thought about this somewhat and would prefer to only use AD users in ACS groups. Is this possible, I can only seem to do local users in local groups and AD users in AD groups. Many people have access to AD so I don't want anyone to be able to move users in and out of AD groups and get access to equipment.
I live in rural Alaska and use satellite internet with 1.5mbps rate and 4gb rolling weekly download limit. I was wondering if there are any wireless routers I can buy that I can set a bandwidth limit for the specific router. Due to teenage girls in the house we hit the weekly limit in a day or two because of all the music videos and such that they watch on you tube, it is annoying getting limited to the 256kbps download rate so often.
I've been using "Linksys by Cisco Wireless-N Home ADSL2+ Modem Router WAG120N". I can restrict internet access to only 8 computers using their Mac adresses but there are no ore entry fields for Mac adress than 8. What shall I do when I need to block internet access to more than 8 computers say 20 computers on wired LAN? I don't like the option blocking the internet access via IP address. I found they are not that effective as the option Mac adress
