View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 887M router which I wish to restrict the devices allowed to be connected/allocated an IP address to two, and *only* two.
I can't, for the life of me, find out how to allow these two devices to connect to ANY port - I can configure a MAC restriction on a single port, but I don't know how to make it so that I can allow JUST these two devices to connect to any port in the 4 port switch/VLAN (VLAN 1 is used because the mongrel who set this up was lazy). I know the MAC addresses I want to allow
How I can do this? I *can* restrict any given port to the two MAC addresses - but if I try to add the MAC addresses to another port, they get removed from the initial one. I need to be able to have them connect to ANY port and work, but allow NOTHING else to work.
For those wondering, this is to counter a user who is utilising company resources for purposes not approved - and costing us quite a bit of money in the process.
I have a XSR-1805 (Version 7.5.0.0) enterasys router here. Got SNMP server to work successfully. The thing is that I couldn't make the router restrict a range of address allowed to use a community. Only 10.1.0.13 is allowed to use SNMP in this case.

We have two network (one have internet access and other doesnt have) within a same office and some pcs are connected to both the network using two NIC. So i am planning to implement a router in between those network and as it implement default routing so we can share all the resources. make both the network secure from virus as one of the network should be worm free. What i personally think that implementing a router will reduce worm replication.

I have 2 computers one with Win 7 Ultimate and one with XP SP3. Thinking incorrectly that I was setting up a home network, in trying to get my 2 PC's to talk to one another I have permissions set up for everyone on both machines. However I have discovered that now all 10 residents can see my 2 PC's. While I can see both PC's from either machine, in trying to change the "Everyone" to restrict access to the names of each of the 2 pcs only, I can only see users and Administrator on that particular machine only and cannot add a user/name of the other PC. How can I stop the other residents from seeing my machine but allow me to see either of my machines from one another?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are in the process of installing time clocks at some of our sites around the USA. Our security department has asked that the time clocks be completely isolated from the rest of the network. The time clocks will be administered by ADP via a centralized firewall utilizing NAT. We have multiple subnets available at each site. Let me give an example to calrify what I would like to do. Example: Site A has 10.168.19.0 /24 user subnet and is configured for VLAN1 using 10.168.19.1 on the router as the default gateway. I would like to use subnet 10.168.20.0 /24 for the time clocks, configure it for VLAN2 and use 10.168.20.1 as the router gateway address for VLAN2. This should allow me to NAT one of our additional public IP addresses to the 10.168.20.1 gateway address thus completely isolating the time clocks from the remainder of the network. Problem is I have not done this before so I'm a little confused about how to configure it in the Cisco 3750 switches.
