Connect My Wireless Security System To D-Link (DCM-202) Router?

Sep 4, 2011

I have an older D-Link DGL-4300 wireless router, I've purchased a wireless home security system and can't seem to get the 2 connected. I've tried resetting the router & modem (powering down & waiting from 1-5 minutes), and my router just won't read the port that I've plugged the security system ethernet cable into.I think the problem is my firewall but I don't know how to set it to allow the router to read the port that I've plugged into, or it could be the firewall that my anti-wirus has or possibly both.My equipment is Comcast cable, router (as noted above) and a D-Link DCM-202 modem, Windows XP 3, and Norton anti-virus. Now I also have my phone through Comcast and it has it's own modem.

Jul 18, 2011

Ive got an E system 3087, it had a virus and got restored but now wont connect to my wireless router which is an Echolife HG520b Broadband Wireless router. It is recognised on the laptop but when i have typed the network key in it constantly says aquiring network address and keeps connecting and disconnecting. The router is still connected to my iPhone and PS3 fine, its just the laptop. I have done the usual, switching everything on and off and re typing the network key but nothing has worked, it normally asks for our password when we're setting something up with the router

I've made an observation that the newer routers above my E3000 don't have LED icons to indicate the port is connected/active and also to show Wi-Fi is active? I find this good at a glance without having to go look in the back of the unit to see which ports are open etc.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54g - How To Allow System With Static IP E2000

May 27, 2011

I have one system running as a fale server in my house, upgraded my wrt54g to an e2000 and that server cannot get through therouter.  if I switch to dhcp it works fine, then switch bake to a static ip outside the dhcp range and use the same mask, gateway, nds,etc I can ping the router but can't get through it.  If I then reboot the router it will work for a short time but eventually stop and I have to reboot the router again.  I haven't setup any kind of restrictions or other security, server is wired not wireless.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G / Switch From G To N Causing System To Freeze Up?

Feb 4, 2012

I work from home on a Lenovo Laptop.  I connect to my work network, and ultimately to a midrange ISeries.  For the past year I've had no major problems with my Netgear Linksys WRT54G.  I switched to a Netgear N300 last weekend because my husband's desktop was having a lot of issues.  His connection is much better now.I'm able to connect to the internet with no problem, and I can access my company network & email pretty well.  But, when I log on the ISeries it slows to way less than a crawl.  According to my netwok icon, the connection is anywhere from 104 to 130 MBPS at any given time.  But it freezes up so badly that it takes about 20 - 30 seconds just to type each letter, or to go from one window to another, or just to move the cursor down one line.  It's infuriating.  Every once in awhile if I disconnect and reconnect it works almost normally for awhile, but eventually slows down almost to a stop again.  I actually worked for about 90 minutes the other day with no problem before it started acting up again.  When I put the old G router back it works fine again.   My laptop has an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 620 wireless adaptor.  As long as I don't connect to the iseries, I have good speed and no issues with the internet or work intranet.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E1200 System Suddenly Stops Working?

Oct 30, 2012

Right now I have my computer (iMac early 2012 summer purchase) plugged directly into the wall via ethernet cable for internet access.  I have only begun doing this in the past week because my E1200 wireless router has stopped working properly.  I have reinstalled and reset to factory settings and set up with Cisco Connect and setup manually over the past week troubleshooting every possible way I have ever known how. My internet, obviously, is working.  And when I set up the wireless network it connects properly and obtains an IP address and the lights on the back of the unit light up correspondingly and correct.  But I cannot connect to the internet via the router, wirelessly or plugged directly into it.  Yet when I take the internet cable and plug it straight into my computer it works.Mainly just need to know if this can be fixed or if I need to go return this unit and get a replacement.  The router was purchased two months ago and has not had any issues since I first set it up until a couple of weeks ago and my phone is using up all of my cellular data plan without being connected to my wi-fi...

Linksys Wireless Router :: Setup A DVR Camera System And Two Webpage Server Boxes Behind A WRT54GL?

Apr 6, 2010

I'm trying to setup a DVR camera system and two web page server boxes behind a Linksys WRT54GL.  The problem I have is that all of the devices want to use port 80 to generate the web page.  Individually, I can get the boxes to work, but when I try to put it all together everything seems to fall apart.  I've got to the DVR set to External port 80, Internal Port 80 IP address 192.168.1.254.  The web page server box I try to set to External port 8001, Internal port 80, IP address 192.168.1.200, when I try to save this setting I get the error message Internet IP address and LAN IP address are in the same subnet.  If I change the web page server settings to External port 8001, Internal port 8001, IP address 192.168.1.200, it will save the settings, but it won't work that way because it won't actually generate a web page when I try to access that port.The error message doesn't seem to make since as all I'm changing is the port number, not the IP address or subnet mask.

I recently formatted the flash drive of an 1800 router and replaced it with an updated image. However, the new features within the new image aren't reflected in the router. I believe that this is because a reboot would be required for the updates in the new image to be reflected in the router i.e. the image needs to be added to the system. How to get the image to the system without a reboot and if by doing so I would get all the new features from the image.For example, the show version below shows the old image in the system as [code]

D-Link DIR-655 :: Router Was Noticeably Slow To Respond When Navigating Menu System

Apr 14, 2011

I have the revision b version of the dir-655. I'm having a couple issues which im not sure if are related to the dir-655 or something else.

I used to be able to do this, then all of the sudden (I may have changed something) I cannot anymore. The issue is: If I try and access my linux server using http://[My Public IP Address]/ from *inside* my LAN, It will time out and not connect. If I try and access my same public ip address from *outside* my LAN, it works fine.

My router was noticeably slow to respond when navigating the menu system. Then, I changed the ip address to 192.168.0.2 (previously it was 192.168.0.1) and all of the sudden its fast again. I tried rebooting and power cycling before I changed the IP and it was always slow using 192.168.0.1.

XP Windows Not Taking To New Wireless System

Feb 14, 2013

My old Actiontec M1000 modem recently died and my HP nc6120 with windows XP can not connect to the wireless network through the new Actiontec C1000A model.It connected wirelessly through the old M1000 moden. Window icons on the screen indicate no wireless network is detected. When I view the available networks and log in to the assigned network with its password, it looks like it is trying to connect but does not. It will connect through the ethernet link-up. I don't have any other wireless devices to connect to the network. I have updated the drivers for the wireless card through HP. I have taken the HP nc6120 to the Geek Squad and the wireless card connects with their network. I seem to have a compatibility problem with the old HP with its XP windows operating software and the new modem system. I have tried to reset the ip addresses, but this has had no effect. However, I do have purchased AVG protection software operating on the system, which I am not sure how to shut off. Is this a problem with a too advanced modem for an old style HP with an XP operating system? Is there a modem that I can downgrade to if it is? [code]

PCI Wireless Card Causes System To Stutter?

Sep 25, 2011

My old system developed a stutter. It would freeze for a half-second at a time in short bursts. The stutter would appear off and on at random, and went on for a good year, coming and going. I couldn't locate the source, but it seemed to get worse when either the graphics card or the sound were called on heavily. Near the very end, the hard drive started getting corrupted, more and more swiftly. I had to replace my machine.So I created new, a fresh, home-built system:

* Asus P8 Z68-V motherboard
* Intel i5-2500k
* 16 GB RAM
* Radeon 6850
* 465 GB WD platter hd
* 128 GB SSD with a fresh install of Windows 7

After completing the installation of Windows, I brought over my old DVD drive, my old wireless card, and my old hard drive. I copied my old data to the new drive, and was relieved that I was able to do so successfully. Almost immediately, I began to get the stutter again! I did some troubleshooting, and discovered that the stutter went away when I pulled out my wireless card. I tried switching it to a different PCI slot, but the same thing continued. When I was able to test the machine with an ethernet cable plugged directly into a router, the stutter was gone. I bought a fresh wireless card, but the same thing happened immediately.
