I mistakenly downloaded and installed version 4 firmware when i should have installed version 2. My system (windows ver. 7) no longer sees the wireless router (WRT54G). I no longer have the install CD and the version 2 firmware does not seem to be available on the website. Is my router now dead in the water?
View 1 RepliesI had an Iomega 1TB External Hard Drive connected to my E4200 router. I had shares confgured and they were properly running on the network.
As of yesterday, this all stopped working. The router does not see the drive; it is as though it is not plugged in.
I rebooted the router and it still does not work. I've connected the hard drive directly to my PC to verify that it works there, and it does. The router is running Ver.1.0.03 (Build 14) of firmware (the latest).
So I have a WRT54G router since a couple of years now. Laptop (Win7 64bit), ipod, ipad, phones can connect to it without a problem, but new computer (Win7 64bit) can't. I can connect the PC via ethernet without a problem though.
I powercycled my devices, I changed broadcasting options off and then back on, changed my security mode, tried the MAC Cloning (after doing the MAC Cloning, I lost internet connectivity even through ethernet), resetted my security settings, changed SSID, I'm broadcasting through channel 11 2.462. I also tried deleting the HomeGroup
Important fact: the network is in the list of available wireless network, but Signal Strength is No Signal and I can't connect to it. My network adapter is ASUS 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, drivers are up to date. I've upgraded to the latest router firmware.

I have a wireless network in my home. I reliably get solid connections on our various devices such as the Wii (netflix streaming), a net book, a laptop and Wi-Fi connections on android phones. When I first set up the 930L I thought it was defective because I couldn't get a connection. Until I did it in the same room as the router okay, that worked. But I move 2 rooms over and I no longer connect.
Seriously, I can go a few rooms away and easily stream an HD movie via netflix to my net book. But if I set up the 930L at the exact same location it will not connect. If I move the camera within about 20 feet of the router with only maybe 1 wall between them, it will connect.
At this level of wireless power it is nearly worthless for me. Is my camera defective or are all of them this lower powered?I am running a dlink router, 300N, WPA security. Like I said, I can connect if I'm literally 10 feet away. But any significant distance or anything more than a single wall in between and the router no longer sees the camera. And all other wireless devices have strong, reliable connections all through my house.
I have had a WRT54G V3 router working successfully for a number of years now with a couple wireless PCs through a cable modem with Comcast as my ISP. All of a sudden yesterday, neither PC could access the internet. No changes had been made to the router.
I contacted Comcast and they of course had me hard-wire one of my PCs into the cable modem. That worked and I was able to access the internet. However, when I tried to put the router back in place (in either a wired or wireless fashion), I could not access the internet.
I've tried following the online Linksys troubleshooting document ion. The lights that should be lit on the router are lit. I can access the router setup web page which shows the settings still intact. I've tried going through the power sequencing to no avail. Comcast says my router is the culprit of my problem, but I don't know why it would all of a sudden stop working. My wireless printer still works so it detects a signal and my PC shows it's connected, but no internet access is possible.
What do I need to do? Are there any other diagnostic tools available? I'm out-of-warranty.
I have one system running as a fale server in my house, upgraded my wrt54g to an e2000 and that server cannot get through therouter. if I switch to dhcp it works fine, then switch bake to a static ip outside the dhcp range and use the same mask, gateway, nds,etc I can ping the router but can't get through it. If I then reboot the router it will work for a short time but eventually stop and I have to reboot the router again. I haven't setup any kind of restrictions or other security, server is wired not wireless.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI work from home on a Lenovo Laptop. I connect to my work network, and ultimately to a midrange ISeries. For the past year I've had no major problems with my Netgear Linksys WRT54G. I switched to a Netgear N300 last weekend because my husband's desktop was having a lot of issues. His connection is much better now.I'm able to connect to the internet with no problem, and I can access my company network & email pretty well. But, when I log on the ISeries it slows to way less than a crawl. According to my netwok icon, the connection is anywhere from 104 to 130 MBPS at any given time. But it freezes up so badly that it takes about 20 - 30 seconds just to type each letter, or to go from one window to another, or just to move the cursor down one line. It's infuriating. Every once in awhile if I disconnect and reconnect it works almost normally for awhile, but eventually slows down almost to a stop again. I actually worked for about 90 minutes the other day with no problem before it started acting up again. When I put the old G router back it works fine again. My laptop has an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 620 wireless adaptor. As long as I don't connect to the iseries, I have good speed and no issues with the internet or work intranet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been running WHSV1 for at least 3 years now without any problems. Upgraded my client to Windows 7 and stream movies etc.. no issues at all. I gave "guest" account enabled with full access on the WHS server machine and just mapped theshares on my laptop..Anyway, I did some updates on my windows7 laptop and now the computer can no longer see the "server" machine."Server" appears in "other devices" in windows explorer but I can't do anything with it. Just takes me to a page server.com by godaddy.Also, I can no longer use RDP from within my own network! Says the SERVER machine does not exist.I can log in to the server just fine using logmein.
Also, made sure the windows machine has the network that it joined set to "home." I've had a similar problem years ago when I used to use zone alarm but I don't know how to fix it now. It's as if a firewall is blocking it or something.
My E4200 is rebooting every time it sees traffic on any port, including the internet port. It does not reboot itself if there is nothing plugged in.
Already tried: soft reset (power off for 30 seconds), soft reboot via back panel button, hard reset (press reset for 30, unplug and hold reset for 30, plug in while holding reset for 30).
I have a Linksys Wireless G Model WRT54G2V1 using WEP encryption. I recently added a laptop. It can access various non-decured netowrks. It can see my home network but is unable to connect despite entering the correct passcode. how to get the laptop and secured network to communicate?
View 1 Replies View RelatedTwo days ago there was a quick power outage here, just one of those flicks off flicks back on deals, but when it came back on I noticed my internet wasn't working. Couldn't figure out what the deal was so after trying a few other things I ended up eliminating my Linksys WRT54G router and just using my DSL modem. Internet works fine.
Now, I've always been kind of sketchy on networking stuff, but I don't think there router is broken I just think it's been reset or something and now I don't know what setting I need to change to get it back to working order.
Here's the kicker though. I had the DSL modem in bridge mode and the router handling traffic before but I had a huge issue with that where my Steam would only download at 10-15 KB/s. Not only that but it would take forever to login and crash constantly. This would happen on my brother's computer too, which is on the same network. I could never figure out how to fix it as forwarding ports had no effect and every other fix I could think of amounted to nothing as well. Hell, I even did a fresh install to no avail.
Now going straight into the modem my Steam is downloading at full speed and there's no slow login or crashing issues. The thing that boggles my mind though is that more than once before I tried doing this very same thing, going straight into the modem, and it didn't fix the problem.
Ideally I want to get the router back up and running and keep my Steam in full working order, essentially to have my cake and eat it too, but the priority is to get the router back up in running as I have another PC on this network, plus a 360, a PC, a wireless printer, and two Wii's.
Ok BEFSR81 (192.168.1.1) is connected to the Modem. I have a cable from one of the BEFSR81's LAN ports going to WRT54G (192.168.2.1) WAN port. My computer is connected to the BEFSR81. I can not access the setup page (http;//192.168.2.1) from my computer, maybe I am not suppossed to be able to do that. The Laptop sees a Linksys wireless connection, but there is a yellow exclamation point over it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedBeen having random connection drops for the past few weeks where I would see the network connections to the router just drop either on a wireless connection or a wired cat 5 connection. As of tonight I cant connect to the router at all. If I disconnect and reconnect the power after 30 seconds it will come up for a short time but then I will lose it again. linksys as my router is out of warrenty. I'v searched around for similiar problems people have been having, but it seems like mostly involve just the internet connection. I still have the same firmware for the routers as the day I purchased it and the router sits on my desk in a ventilated area not overheating. I can do to further diagnose the problem, I have even tried resetting to factory defaults. I try to diagnose the problem or see if my router is just dead.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy E2500 was working great for the past 3 months, and now it seems to be broken since I cannot access the internet anymore. I can connect to the router via wireless or wired at 192.168.1.1 and play with all the settings. On the status page, I have entries for Internet IP Address, Default Gateway, DNS1, and DNS2 as though I was connected fine to my DSL modem.If I connect my computer to my DSL modem then I can access the internet perfectly fine, so I know the modem is working. However, if I connect the E2500 to the modem, and then my macbook to the E2500 then I cannot access anything other than the router config pages. I have also tried, from the router admin page, to ping "www.yahoo.com" and "8.8.8.8" to no avail.
I have tried without success:
1. Renewing IP address from the router status page.
2. Cycling the power on the modem.
3. Rebooting the router.
4. Unplugging the power from both the modem and the router for 10 minutes and reconnecting it.
5. Resetting the router by holding down the reset button for 30s.
6. Using a different computer.
7. Turning off the firewall.
8. Reinstalling the firmware (1.0.01 build 3 May 6, 2011)
My lap top and other desktop are able to detect the internet but not my main computer with this router.

My laptop and ipad are working fine with the router but i can't get my iphone hooked up and dont think i have the correct password. I dont have any software on my laptop to even figure it out. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have connected a Seagate Free Agent 500GB to the USB port of my E4200 and while it does work fine, When the drive has been idle for a while, it goes into power saving mode, turning the spindle motor off. This means it takes a few seconds to access the disk. Not a problem, but apparently, those few seconds are enough for either Windows or the E4200 to decide that the disk is no longer accessible. The share is still available, but I get missing folders and files, files won't open or are not found, and backups job with Acronis True Image will fail because it thinks the share is unavailable.Sometimes, constantly refreshing the view and opening files at random will revive the share, but often, the only way to get it back is to restart the computer.
The problem is definitely related to the power saving. If I leave a video clip playing or similar, so there's always some disk access preventing the drive from entering power save mode, it works fine. But 15-20 minutes of no disk activity immediately causes problems.
I have a BEFW11S4 router when to put in password for the router and must have had a typo as I can no longer access router.Tried the factory reset on the rear of unit to no avail. Is their any way to get access as I have the main computer wire to the router. I need to get into the unit to move the channel number.

We bought a new E4200 to replace our old Linksys router which no one knows the admin pw to. We have four switches for 50 connections throughout the four story house and when switching the connections over to the new E4200 all of the wired connections no longer work. Switch back to the old router and presto. How do I need to change the settings with the E4200 to get it to work?
Also, as it's a thick old house the E4200's wireless only covers maybe half of it...I purchased two wireless repeaters to put on the 3rd and 4th floors, are these simple to install with the router?
After updating the firmware of th EA6500 to Ver.1.1.28.146072 I have no longer access to the GUI options of Speed Test, Guest Access, Parental Controls, Media Prioritization and USB Storage. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new Linksys E2100 that was working well with an old Verizon modem. Then recently that modem gave up the ghost and I was issued another one (Westel Model 6100G). I have no problems with internet connectivity when connecting directly from my harddrive to the Verizon modem. I am also not having trouble connecting to the Linksys routher as I am able to see my wireless connection with no problem. However, when I try to set up the connnection with the E2100 in the loop (yes, it's connected correctly) I no longer have internet access.
I tried de-installing and re-installing the Linksys software (thinking maybe there was some new configuration that would be auto-detected with a new set-up), but this didn't work. I suspect that if the problem is with my Linksys router and not with my Verizon modem that there might be something that could be done to reconfigure something manually but I do not know enough about connections and wireless systems to trust myself not to mess something up.
At this point I'm assuming it's a Linksys issue since I know that my Verizon modem can connect me to the internet, so works properly. Is there some known incompatibility with this Linksys model and the Westell 6100G modem?
I have an E1200 model 1 router. I've owned it for over a year and it's given me no problems until now...Hardwired ethernet connections work fine, but the wifi no longer works consistently. I have several wireless-N wifi devices that either cannot connect to the router at all (they present an error message), or do connect but will not load anything over the connection, or will load web pages very very slowly and then suddenly drop the connection.When I go to the DCHP client table, I see all of my ethernet connections but it does not show any wifi devices, even if the WiFi device is showing a connection to the router.The wifi connection is secured via WPA2 Personal.I have tried changing channels to one that was not congested with any other nearby routers. I have also tried a 30-30-30 factory reset. I am updated to the latest firmware version (1.0.03). I am sure I am entering the correct pass phrase to connect over WPA2. All of my wifi devices are confirmed to be wireless-n, not g or b.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop with an Intel Centrino 6300 Ultimate-N wireless card. With the previous firmware I was able to reach 300mbps while on the 5GHz band. Since I updated my E3000 to the latest firmware (1.0.04) I can only reach speeds of 144mbps. I have done a factory reset on the router and stll get the same result. Is there any way I can get it to reach 300mbps again with the current firmware?
Also, yes I have uninstalled / updated the driver software for my wireless card. I have also changed the appropriate settings for the 5GHz band. (40MHz channel width, using WPA2 encryption)

It is a Seagate drive that is listed on the Cisco tested - passed - approved list. It worked prior to this update. I have disconnected the drive. Reconnected it. Rebooted. Turned machine and router on and off and its still not recognized.

When starting my laptop it no longer connects to the preferred network. It has been trying to connect to my neighbors unsecured network. I have tried the netsh settings but it searches for another network and will not connect to the one it is supposed to unless I force it to.
E4200 connects to wrong network.
I have a file server running windows 2003 and five computers (1 windows 7, 4 windows xp-sp3).There are two shares on the server.When the router is setup with wpa2, three of the windows xp machines will have problems with mapped drives. Directly after the drives are mapped, everything works, but 10 or so hours later, users can no longer access these mapped drives and there is no way to reconnect them it seems.The other two machines (windows 7 and one windows xp machine) have no problems whatsoever.
The only thing that the three computers have in common is that they are also sharing a printer (an hp j4680) attached to one windows xp machine (not the server).If I set everything to wpa, everything works fine, but of course my wireless network speeds drop to 56mbps.
