I had a simple PPTP VPN server running behind my old DLink router. When I installed the E3000 the VPN clients could no longer connect. The port forwarding for PPTP is turned on and VPN passthrough is enabled. The PPTP server reported GRE47 checksum failed. The linksys chat tech was not beneficial. How to get a PPTP route to work?

I have a laptop with an Intel Centrino 6300 Ultimate-N wireless card. With the previous firmware I was able to reach 300mbps while on the 5GHz band. Since I updated my E3000 to the latest firmware (1.0.04) I can only reach speeds of 144mbps. I have done a factory reset on the router and stll get the same result. Is there any way I can get it to reach 300mbps again with the current firmware?
Also, yes I have uninstalled / updated the driver software for my wireless card. I have also changed the appropriate settings for the 5GHz band. (40MHz channel width, using WPA2 encryption)
I would like to put an E2000 in an office where clients are coming and going throughout the day. When the documentation says that there is a maximum of 10 guest network users allowed (with a default setting of 5) what exactly does that mean ? I don't want the first 10 guest-clients who come in, connect to the guest network, then leave the office to consume all 10 slots for the day.If I have 50 people that come and go from the office throughout the day who connect to the guest 192.168.33.X network and attempt to enter the password (but no more than 10 guests authenticated at any given time) will all 50 be successful in connecting ? Or do I have to reduce the Client Lease Time to something less than the default setting of one day ?
View 1 Replies View RelatedBeen having random connection drops for the past few weeks where I would see the network connections to the router just drop either on a wireless connection or a wired cat 5 connection. As of tonight I cant connect to the router at all. If I disconnect and reconnect the power after 30 seconds it will come up for a short time but then I will lose it again. linksys as my router is out of warrenty. I'v searched around for similiar problems people have been having, but it seems like mostly involve just the internet connection. I still have the same firmware for the routers as the day I purchased it and the router sits on my desk in a ventilated area not overheating. I can do to further diagnose the problem, I have even tried resetting to factory defaults. I try to diagnose the problem or see if my router is just dead.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had no problems with the WUSB54GS connecting to the WRT54GS up until last Friday...it can no longer connect to the router and reports that the network cannot be found.When i refresh the list of available networks i can "see" the router on the wireless PC but when an attempt to connect is made,it fails.OK,i rang up Linksys tech support today and we tried everything possible to work out what the problem was e:g uninstalling/reinstalling the software,updating the routers firmware,disabling security,trying all channels 1 thru 11,using WEP,using WPA,changing SSID name,using secure easy setup,using windows wireless configuration,changing USB leads nothing will make the device connect.

if I do a dev I get nothing. If I do a dir flash: I get "bad device name". My cookie shows FF in all positions.
If I remove the entire WiFi Radio card (both boards), then It boots fine, cookie appears intact, devs appear, IOS loads, just without the WAP.
Any chance this is a matter of a file getting deleted or corrupted or is this certainly bad hardware? The router sans Wifi appears fully functional.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just purchased an E3000 to replace my WRT54G.I set up the E3000 through a wired connection from my Comcast modem to my desktop (running Windows 7).Through Cisco Connect, I was unable to connect to the internet. The desktop connects to the E3000 but the E3000 does not connect to the modem. I've tried to reset the E3000 and power down both the E3000 and the modem yet I still cannot connect.I swapped my WRT54G back into place and my connection is fine while I figure this out.

i was having issues with one of my devices after a power outage. all my other devices worked (laptops, xbox, iphones, etc)i thought doing a reset on the router would get the odd device working again but all it did was mess up my internet. i don't have the key or cd any longer from when i set it up.

So far I have had no luck at all getting it to work. Setup fails to even connect at all. I spent 2 hours on the phone with tech support. There were in trying to get it up and running but we have been unable to get a TCP/IP number from my provider (comcast). I hooked up the old router to see if any of my settings looked unusual but they seemed normal.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had my E3000 for almost a year now and it's been great - until recently. Latencies have become patchy for some users and most surprisingly, the 5GHz network has stopped using two channels. I did a 30/30/30 reset on it a few minutes ago and re-configured the whole thing. It's set to use 40MHz Only and WPA2 Personal, but speeds at the physical layer are still just 144 Mbps and in the web interface's Status page it clearly says "20 MHz".
Why might this be? It was fine for so long, only to refuse to use two channels now. I've checked what the other wireless networks in my area are like, and none of them are even 5GHz-capable as far as I can tell, so the relevant spectrum shouldn't be overcrowded. It's rather nice to have the two channels for NAS transfers and streaming and such.
After manually specifying a base channel (48 at the moment), it actually kicks into 40MHz. The problem is now that my clients, both using a WUSB600N, are getting "Unable to connect to (SSID)" pretty much instantly after clicking the network in Windows.

About two weeks ago, all of my devices are having problems connecting to the network and if they do connect, it is unstable (slow speeds or constantly dropping from the network). I know it is not the internet due to the fact that my LAN connection (hardwired) runs great. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why. I have restored to factory defauls and started over setting it up with no change in performance. I have the latest drivers on the router and the laptop. I thought maybe it was vista and my laptop or network card, but the fact that I cannot get my phones or ipads to connect with good performance I am starting to think it is something to do with the router. Also, just for more info, I am using Chater cable internet. I am running vista 64x on the laptop.

USing https://10.x.x.x, shows certificate warning page, then when I continue "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".DId NOT change the host hame.Last time I used the Browser Utility (weeks ago) was to disable the wireless to check something. Reenabled the wireless, no apparent problems until today when I tried to access via the Browser Utility.As I never ran Connect, there are no settings to change, and now it cannot detect the device.I guess I'll wait until I HAVE to change something, and do a 30-30-30 reset.

I spent hours with my tech guy setting up the router so that I was getting excellent internet speed and the connection between my computer and my nas was maximized. In the process of setting up the router my laptop (Windows 7) and the basement laptop (Vista) were set up to access the router. Both work perfectly.These are now the only two devices in the house that can get internet access.The other devices that should connect are:
-2 Laptops (both Vista)
-1 iPhone 4
-2 iPhone 3gs
-1 Printer
I can't get them to connect. I spent an hour with a guy at Cisco tonight who just couldn't seem to get past the idea that it was not the laptop that was the problem.

I plug the Ethernet cable into both to configure the printer and I cannot access the printer via its IP address. I suspect the printer is reporting the wrong IP address or it the IP is not being assigned by the router or it is being blocked by the router. Routers firewall is off. I use the Samsung software and it does not see the printer either. It seems the router is not seeing the printer or allowing it access to the network. Spent much time with a good Samsung support person and tried everything and narrowed the problem down to the router connection. Is there a setting on the router which needs to be changed to allow me to see the printer to configure it for wireless access?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have tried to connect my Kindle to my E3000 without success. The Kindle shows that the router is there but after entering my password in the Kindle it will not connect. I tried going into Cisco Connect and enable "Guest" user. Again the Kindle shows that the router is there showing "Guest User" and after entering the password for the guest user it still will not connect. The Kindle does connect to the internet through a router that is shown - I have no idea whose router it is - but at least it proves that the Kindel will connect to the internet.

Irrespective of what wireless settings I use they all seem to connect at around half speed. My laptop for example insists on connecting at 144.4 Mbps though it supports 300 Mbps. Periodically it will connect at 300Mbps, but the next time the I reconnect or I make a settings change on the router (irrespective of what the change is) the speed drops back to 144.4. Clients that support 150Mbps connect a consistent 65Mbps.I'm running FW 1.0.02, though the problem existed with 1.0.01 (I hard reset before and after upgrade) and I've tried re-flasing the 1.0.02 firmware.Any combination of channel, width, mode and security type etc doesn't seem to influence the performance. Nor does distance (the client above is 3ft from the router).My previous router was located in exactly the same place as the E4200 and I had a solid full speed connection all over the house.
