Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Setup Fails To Even Connect At All?

I have comcast Triple HD cable internet and I have been using a low end 5 year old Linksys Router. I decided to upgrade and get the E3000. So far I have had no luck at all getting it to work. Setup fails to even connect at all. I spent 2 hours on the phone with tech support. There were in trying to get it up and running but we have been unable to get a TCP/IP number from my provider (comcast). I hooked up the old router to see if any of my settings looked unusual but they seemed normal.
I have tried repeatedly to upgrade my firmware from 1.0.03 to 1.0.04, but it always fails with a message :cannot upgrade at this time..." I've tried both IE and FireFox, and both wired and wireless connection to my PC (Windows 7).
I've small corporate network with Cisco 800 as main DSL router/firewall/DHCP. I'd like to setup Linksys E3000 (firmware: 1.0.01) as bridge (no DHCP, only wireless repeater), but there is no "bridge mode" in E3000 interface
I upgraded from a WRT54GS. I have an XBOX that I am trying to setup a static IP for. Every time I try I get an error message stating invalid static route. All I am trying to do is set it up the same way my old router was so when I specify my XBOX as DMZ Host I don't have to worry about my XBOX ip address changing like it currently does.
My router wasn't giving out proper ip addresses so I went through the steps to reset the router to factory defaults. After I tried to run the setup off of the cd which came with the router and the program is saying it can't find my router
I just installed my new Cisco E3000 and configured it over the HTTP interface, as I have on previous routers. I am unable to find any setting for the "Guest" wireless network (outbound internet only), or the Parental controls. Both of these are features of interest, and they're simply not listed in any of the web-based settings.
Puzzled, I did a Factory Reset and configured it via the Cisco Connect instead.. this had the Guest feature and Parental controls, but none of the other features I need, like QOS, or Port Forwarding, or DHCP disable.
It seems like the Web interface only configures some settings, and the Cisco Connect configures other settings, but I can't use them both.
Where does one set up the additional password for Guest access? Other than this, the router works fine on 2.4 & 5 GHz, nice..
I'm trying to set up an Iomega Home Media Network Cloud NAS and I'm having problems with opening ports 50500-50599. I have opened port 80 and 443 successfully and included the above port range above as well, but when I check it on www.yougetsignal.com the ports 50500-50599 are still closed. I even tried to split the range in two parts, and still no success. I have been in contact with my ISP and confirmed they do not block any ports in the 50500-50599 range and that the cable modem (a Motorola SBV5120) is operating in Bridge Mode.
I am finally duffing my WRT 610N (N=Never consistent in performance) main router and WRT54G that I am using up in my shop as an expander. Now I am going to a E4200 Main Router and E3000 for my secondary router (Truthfully a dual band expander).
Am I going to just simply Flash my 610 to default , disconnect it and pack it away , Setup my new E4200 , Plug in my E3000 into port 1 and go about giving it a separate IP Addy? Or can I expect a **bleep**? Any setup tips?
Wirelessly I am running 2 laptops , a PS3 , Xbox 360 , Epson printer , a picture frame and Samsung Blue Ray and TV, and on occasion 2 android phones. On the Wired side (Ethernet) I have a Sling Box , a Desktop , and the router up in the shop. This is the normal load and never everything all at once (Although it has been done).
I got E4200 with latest firmware (updated two days ago) and WD Studion with 2 Tb drive (it is HFS+ file system)Once I connect this drive to router I am not longer available to access 192.168.1.1.
I have a new Linksys 1500 router which I am using to replace an older WRT54GS. They are connected to a wired router (BEFSR81) to allow a wireless network to work in conjunction with my wired one. The WRT54GS ran as an access point. The 1500 does not seem to have that option. I have successfully been able to set up the new router and use it with laptops, ipads, etc. Where I’m running into problems is with my Squeezebox. Although I can see the network and enter a passcode into the Squeezebox, it never connects (the light on the Squeezebox is green (acquiring IP address from network). It never gets beyond this point. I am trying to set up my E1200 router to Frontier FIOS internet. I went thru the setup and it failed to connect to the internet. What settings do I need? Frontier says that it should find the connection automatically.
shows connection to cable modem, shows IP lease, able to renew and release lease. shows all DCHP clients, but does not allow internet to get through. tried cloning old routers MAC, no dice.
I just purchased an E3000 to replace my WRT54G.I set up the E3000 through a wired connection from my Comcast modem to my desktop (running Windows 7).Through Cisco Connect, I was unable to connect to the internet. The desktop connects to the E3000 but the E3000 does not connect to the modem. I've tried to reset the E3000 and power down both the E3000 and the modem yet I still cannot connect.I swapped my WRT54G back into place and my connection is fine while I figure this out.
E3000 uses WPA secutiry...Nintendo DS ONLY works with WEP security.
Can I change my E3000 to WEP? on a Nintendo support site per this issue, it says:
Routers using the Cisco Connect software default to WPA security, which is not compatible with online multiplayer with Nintendo DS Game Cards. To change your wireless security mode to WEP, you will need to use your router's web utility instead of Cisco Connect.
A) is that true
B) if so....HOW?
Bottom line, I NEED to be able to do this. If it's not possible, than I made a very bad purchase decision & will never do so again
I have a Linksys E3000, have had it successfully connected for three months now. Recently I attempted to connect my xbox 360 to the wifi and had issues connecting it. So I called ATT to obtain the PPPoE username and password, which they reluctantly gave me. Entered that into the xbox and still unable to connect, so I have given up on the xbox for the time being, I'll post that issue in a different forum. Where my issue is now is since contacting ATT the WPA2 password I set up for the router no longer works. I cannot access the router setup page, and I cannot add any new wifi devices. Although, all of the previously connected wifi devices are still connected to the router despite this issue. Is there anyway to make the old password work, or do I have to reset the router and start from scratch, and God forbid contact ATT again?
i was having issues with one of my devices after a power outage. all my other devices worked (laptops, xbox, iphones, etc)i thought doing a reset on the router would get the odd device working again but all it did was mess up my internet. i don't have the key or cd any longer from when i set it up.
My network is Cable modem -> RVS4000 (does my VPN) -> E3000 (does my wireless)Cisco connect seem to deal with this issue and I want to use the guest feature of the wireless.
I've had my E3000 for almost a year now and it's been great - until recently. Latencies have become patchy for some users and most surprisingly, the 5GHz network has stopped using two channels. I did a 30/30/30 reset on it a few minutes ago and re-configured the whole thing. It's set to use 40MHz Only and WPA2 Personal, but speeds at the physical layer are still just 144 Mbps and in the web interface's Status page it clearly says "20 MHz".
Why might this be? It was fine for so long, only to refuse to use two channels now. I've checked what the other wireless networks in my area are like, and none of them are even 5GHz-capable as far as I can tell, so the relevant spectrum shouldn't be overcrowded. It's rather nice to have the two channels for NAS transfers and streaming and such.
After manually specifying a base channel (48 at the moment), it actually kicks into 40MHz. The problem is now that my clients, both using a WUSB600N, are getting "Unable to connect to (SSID)" pretty much instantly after clicking the network in Windows.
I have a cable modem with an E3000 router, wired to my desktop. Internet connection is fine for my desktop, wired to Xbox, wifi for Iphone, Ipod, but no connectivity to my laptop wirelessly. I have Cisco Connect and E3000 router running on Mac OSX 10.5.8. The router is working and I want to add another device, but when I try to start Cisco Connect, it starts to launch, but it stops and will not launch. The icon starts to appear on the Icon bar and then fades away. What should I do?
I just bought a e3000 and I have a 24 ports switch. I would like to plug more than 8 pc...how do I proced ? I used to have a dlink router and just plug a cat5e from the dlint to the switch ... but it doesn't work with the e3000
I've not been able to connect to my to Linksys E3000 when set to 5GHz "N" only Network mode. Connections to the 5GHz can only be done in mixed mode. I do not need to have A-Mode enabled, so I do not wish to use mixed.
I have the E3000 router. I set it up about a month ago and had my laptop and iphones and ipads all hooked up and working great. About two weeks ago, all of my devices are having problems connecting to the network and if they do connect, it is unstable (slow speeds or constantly dropping from the network). I know it is not the internet due to the fact that my LAN connection (hardwired) runs great. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why. I have restored to factory defauls and started over setting it up with no change in performance. I have the latest drivers on the router and the laptop. I thought maybe it was vista and my laptop or network card, but the fact that I cannot get my phones or ipads to connect with good performance I am starting to think it is something to do with the router. Also, just for more info, I am using Chater cable internet. I am running vista 64x on the laptop.
I have been using OpenDNS for a long time, and I just got the Linksys E3000. When I tried to change the settings to add OpenDNS it said that some changes may cause the Cisco Connect software not to work anymore.
If I change the Static DNS 1 and 2 [URL] will I still be able to use all of the functions in the Cisco Connect software?
Not sure how I got here, but I cannot now connect to the E3000 using the Browser Utility. USing https://10.x.x.x, shows certificate warning page, then when I continue "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".DId NOT change the host hame.Last time I used the Browser Utility (weeks ago) was to disable the wireless to check something. Reenabled the wireless, no apparent problems until today when I tried to access via the Browser Utility.As I never ran Connect, there are no settings to change, and now it cannot detect the device.I guess I'll wait until I HAVE to change something, and do a 30-30-30 reset.
I just bought a new E3000 router less than 2 weeks ago. I spent hours with my tech guy setting up the router so that I was getting excellent internet speed and the connection between my computer and my nas was maximized. In the process of setting up the router my laptop (Windows 7) and the basement laptop (Vista) were set up to access the router. I can't get them to connect. I spent an hour with a guy at Cisco tonight who just couldn't seem to get past the idea that it was not the laptop that was the problem.
Woke up this morning to the friendly 'No Internet access' message in the system tray. Thought it was the laptop but it wound up being the router (I guess).I can connect directly to internet via the cable modem (Comcast) but can't get a connection through the router.There are no IP addresses listed on the router admin page.Renew IP doesn't work.Everything was ok last night. I had a simple PPTP VPN server running behind my old DLink router. When I installed the E3000 the VPN clients could no longer connect. The port forwarding for PPTP is turned on and VPN passthrough is enabled. The PPTP server reported GRE47 checksum failed. The linksys chat tech was not beneficial. How to get a PPTP route to work?
I tried all methods: Cisco Connect (on Vista), http and https, but none works. However, the router seems function correctly. My laptop can acquire DHCP address and browse via the router. But I just cannot connect to the router to perform Admin tasks.Problem: when I launch CiscoConnect: the GUI shows "Cannot access your router", even though I am using the router to browse the net wirelessly and wirely. Using browser to navigate to http://192.168.1.1 and https://192.168.1.1 also give me cannot access error!
Connecting The Internet by Ethernet Lan-cable (without a router), ping to Yandex.ru is 4 ms. If we connect by router ping is 27 ms. If we ping by web-interface it is 4 ms. Connecting by Wi-Fi it is 27 ms.I' ve substituted the cable connected router and computer. So my questions are: why ping is rising when I connect to the Internet by router?
