shows connection to cable modem, shows IP lease, able to renew and release lease. shows all DCHP clients, but does not allow internet to get through. tried cloning old routers MAC, no dice.
View 6 RepliesI just purchased an E3000 to replace my WRT54G.I set up the E3000 through a wired connection from my Comcast modem to my desktop (running Windows 7).Through Cisco Connect, I was unable to connect to the internet. The desktop connects to the E3000 but the E3000 does not connect to the modem. I've tried to reset the E3000 and power down both the E3000 and the modem yet I still cannot connect.I swapped my WRT54G back into place and my connection is fine while I figure this out.

I just bought a new E3000 router less than 2 weeks ago. I spent hours with my tech guy setting up the router so that I was getting excellent internet speed and the connection between my computer and my nas was maximized. In the process of setting up the router my laptop (Windows 7) and the basement laptop (Vista) were set up to access the router. Both work perfectly.These are now the only two devices in the house that can get internet access.The other devices that should connect are:
-2 Laptops (both Vista)
-1 iPhone 4
-2 iPhone 3gs
-1 Printer
I can't get them to connect. I spent an hour with a guy at Cisco tonight who just couldn't seem to get past the idea that it was not the laptop that was the problem.
Woke up this morning to the friendly 'No Internet access' message in the system tray. Thought it was the laptop but it wound up being the router (I guess).I can connect directly to internet via the cable modem (Comcast) but can't get a connection through the router.There are no IP addresses listed on the router admin page.Renew IP doesn't work.Everything was ok last night. I've had the router for a year or so and except for having to reset it every week or 2 for WiFi connection issues,it's worked pretty well.I soft-reset the router but then couldn't connect to 192.168.1.1.Hard-reset and still can't connect to 192.168.1.1.I do see connection lights. Just can't get to it.

just bought an e3000 and want to use it with wireless internet- usb modem. when setting up it wouldnt go any further than the 'searching for connection' page as it couldnt detect a connection in the 'internet' lan (wan?) port.can i set it up to accept the wireless usb modem?

So far I have had no luck at all getting it to work. Setup fails to even connect at all. I spent 2 hours on the phone with tech support. There were in trying to get it up and running but we have been unable to get a TCP/IP number from my provider (comcast). I hooked up the old router to see if any of my settings looked unusual but they seemed normal.

Latencies have become patchy for some users and most surprisingly, the 5GHz network has stopped using two channels. I did a 30/30/30 reset on it a few minutes ago and re-configured the whole thing. It's set to use 40MHz Only and WPA2 Personal, but speeds at the physical layer are still just 144 Mbps and in the web interface's Status page it clearly says "20 MHz".
Why might this be? It was fine for so long, only to refuse to use two channels now. I've checked what the other wireless networks in my area are like, and none of them are even 5GHz-capable as far as I can tell, so the relevant spectrum shouldn't be overcrowded. It's rather nice to have the two channels for NAS transfers and streaming and such.
After manually specifying a base channel (48 at the moment), it actually kicks into 40MHz. The problem is now that my clients, both using a WUSB600N, are getting "Unable to connect to (SSID)" pretty much instantly after clicking the network in Windows.

About two weeks ago, all of my devices are having problems connecting to the network and if they do connect, it is unstable (slow speeds or constantly dropping from the network). I know it is not the internet due to the fact that my LAN connection (hardwired) runs great. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why. I have restored to factory defauls and started over setting it up with no change in performance. I have the latest drivers on the router and the laptop. I thought maybe it was vista and my laptop or network card, but the fact that I cannot get my phones or ipads to connect with good performance I am starting to think it is something to do with the router. Also, just for more info, I am using Chater cable internet. I am running vista 64x on the laptop.

The card is suppose to be 10/100/1000 card and E3000 is the same... so why can't I connect at 1000?Max transfer I get to my NAS is 64-80 Mbps. Is there any way I can get this to be faster? I plug the Ethernet cable into both to configure the printer and I cannot access the printer via its IP address. I suspect the printer is reporting the wrong IP address or it the IP is not being assigned by the router or it is being blocked by the router. Routers firewall is off. I use the Samsung software and it does not see the printer either. It seems the router is not seeing the printer or allowing it access to the network. Spent much time with a good Samsung support person and tried everything and narrowed the problem down to the router connection. Is there a setting on the router which needs to be changed to allow me to see the printer to configure it for wireless access?

I tried going into Cisco Connect and enable "Guest" user. Again the Kindle shows that the router is there showing "Guest User" and after entering the password for the guest user it still will not connect. The Kindle does connect to the internet through a router that is shown - I have no idea whose router it is - but at least it proves that the Kindel will connect to the internet.
