For some reason I can no longer make Wi-Fi calls with my E1200 router. I have checked with my ISP and T-mobil. They both tell me that everything on their respective ends is working correctly. The only piece of the equation is the router.

I've owned it for over a year and it's given me no problems until now...Hardwired ethernet connections work fine, but the wifi no longer works consistently. I have several wireless-N wifi devices that either cannot connect to the router at all (they present an error message), or do connect but will not load anything over the connection, or will load web pages very very slowly and then suddenly drop the connection.When I go to the DCHP client table, I see all of my ethernet connections but it does not show any wifi devices, even if the WiFi device is showing a connection to the router.The wifi connection is secured via WPA2 Personal.I have tried changing channels to one that was not congested with any other nearby routers. I have also tried a 30-30-30 factory reset. I am updated to the latest firmware version (1.0.03). I am sure I am entering the correct pass phrase to connect over WPA2. All of my wifi devices are confirmed to be wireless-n, not g or b.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a new Linksys E2100 that was working well with an old Verizon modem. Then recently that modem gave up the ghost and I was issued another one (Westel Model 6100G). I have no problems with internet connectivity when connecting directly from my harddrive to the Verizon modem. I am also not having trouble connecting to the Linksys routher as I am able to see my wireless connection with no problem. However, when I try to set up the connnection with the E2100 in the loop (yes, it's connected correctly) I no longer have internet access.
I tried de-installing and re-installing the Linksys software (thinking maybe there was some new configuration that would be auto-detected with a new set-up), but this didn't work. I suspect that if the problem is with my Linksys router and not with my Verizon modem that there might be something that could be done to reconfigure something manually but I do not know enough about connections and wireless systems to trust myself not to mess something up.
At this point I'm assuming it's a Linksys issue since I know that my Verizon modem can connect me to the internet, so works properly. Is there some known incompatibility with this Linksys model and the Westell 6100G modem?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy 1200 v 1.0 was working fine until I tried to link a wireless internet camera. Apparently I screwed something up in the setup such that I've lost my WiFi connection to my laptop and one wireless desktop. Fortunately my wired connection still works. I've carefully tried to restore my system following the online procedure and while the setup looks OK it doesn't link. In the process I have reset the router to the factory setting several times and have installed the latest firmware version. I contacted Linksys support and using remote diagnosis they reached a point where they said that something was wrong with my computer and to investigate further there would be a fee charged. I balked at that since I had tried the setup from several different wired Window 7 and XP computers.

The only problem is when we log into her wifi it says "No Internet Access". I'm moderately okay when it comes to computers but not expert and I'm horrible at the whole wifi router thing. Through my laptop I've done a Windows Network Diagnostic to see what was wrong and it says that my "computer is correctly configured but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding."

Wife's Mac laptop wireless, same speed. What is going on? I updated the firmware, tried altering some settings based on other entries here suggested (WPA-personal, channel to "6") but no effect.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the E1200 and since I installed this router, the wireless download speed on my iPad and iPhone has been only around 4 to 5 Mbps when my other wireless devices could get to 7 Mbps and ethernet gives close to 10 (my ISP gives 10 Mbps max).I know many people experience slow download and normally disabling the WMM would solve the issue. But this doesn't work for me and I've made sure i'm on the latest firmware.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe wireless router, which is a linksys E1200 is completely new. I setup the entire wireless and there was no problems on that front.The problem is the wireless connection. Even when I am within a few inches of the router, I couldn't even load a youtube video properly. It buffers every 2 seconds. But when I plug the cable into my computer, it works completely fine. The signal strength is excellent all the time.
I tried using inSSIDer to look for the number of connections within my area for the one with the least inteference and found that I'm already on the good one, or actually, all of them looked more or less the same. But I tried changing anyways from 1 to 6 to 11, and none of them made a difference.I then tried changing my Wireless Security to WPA2 Personal. Then I tried changing the Wireless Network Mode to Wireless-G Only instead of Mixed and the wireless speed increased.
I recently purchased an E1200 to replace a broken router. I have had good experiences with this model in the past which is why I bought it. However this has not been so pleasant. For some reason the internet connection over wifi is INCREDIBLY slow. I don't know why. It is fast when connected via ethernet to the router. I changed the MTU on the router to 1400, I set the wireless width to 20MHz and the channel to 11. I set security to WPA2. And yet it is still very very slow. It's not a matter of how many users are on the network; I live in a house with five other people and it's slow regardless of whether everybody's home or nobody is home. It's like this on Macs, PCs, phones and even the Xbox 360. I just did a speed test. Wired was about 14MBps down, wireless was around .7MBps down. I simply cannot comprehend this discrepancy. The old router was very unreliable in terms of connectivity but at least it was always fast. And my laptop is fast at my mom's house where she has an E1200. I use a MacBook Pro from 2009 but like I said,this seems to be affecting everybody in the house regardless of hardware.The modem is a Ubee modem from Comcast. I'd upgrade it to a SURFBoard but my landlord controls all the utilities and I'd rather not have to explain to him how to call Comcast and tell them to register the modem's serial number to the account or whatever.

These symptoms are stumping me:
WiFi drops 80% packets from new computers (Win7, IPv4 andIPv6 enabled) to reliable internet hosts. WiFi is OK (0% loss) from new computers to E1200 itself (ping E1200 IP address).Old computers, mobile devices, and wired are OK to reliable internet hosts.Basic Wireless Settings are Mixed, Auto Channel Width. Wireless Security is set to WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode. Guest Access enabled.
I just bought the Cisco E1200 about two weeks ago to replace an older Linksys non wireless router. With my old Linksys, I had an Acess Point installed, a trendnet TEW-638APB. Now that I have the new Cisco E1200 which itself is wireless, I'd like to add my TrendNet Access Point to the netowork and extend the wireless range. However the place in the house I want to put it does not have any CAT-5 cable running to it so I'm trying to set up a bridged connection between the two. I'm a bit new to netoworking stuff but I catch on pretty quick. I've been doing research on it all day between the TrendNet AP and the Cisco E1200 but I'm still a little lost. I've got WDS enabled on the TrendNet AP and have the first MAC address set to the Wireless MAC address of the E1200 but I don't get what to make the next three MAC address. Somone told me to make all 3 of them 00:00:00:00:00:00. Is that correct?
I also have both the E1200 and the TrendNet AP set to the same channel, both are on a 20Mhz channel width, Both have the same SSID though I'm pretty sure that doesn't matter in the long run from what I've read. Also, no incryption on either (no need for it out here).So I guess I'm just wondering how do I use the E1200 as a Wireless Base Station? If that's what it's called? I have upgraded the firmware of the E1200 from 1.0.00 to 1.0.03 but that didn't change anything in regards to seeing an option for a bridging mode or anything. Other than that I'm not sure what else to do.
We have a Linksys E1200 modem and I have been having problems with keeping my son from using the wireless interenet. I did change the password and that worked for about 24 hours and then he was able to get onto it again. He has a nintendo dsi and he is smart enough to figure out how to dismantle any parental controls on his gaming device. I think that he resets the modem in order to get back onto the internet in order to use his gaming device. Someone told me that you can register each item individually in order to keep kids from using it but I have no idea as to how this works. We have two iphones, a lap top, and two tablets.

I have gone through everything to try figure out how to make my S.S.I.D. to not be broadcasted, but seems like the only way to make it hidden is to use the Origonal Firmware make it as hidden, then install the New Firmware and software. Seems like Cisco may have missed this option. I do know a lot of people would prefer their Networks hidden for a little security. I know it isn't much, cause if someone wants to get that info it's not hard to get it. But for people who don't know or don't want to waste all the time to find the Hidden Network name can be turned away, for going through that extra step.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just bought an e2500 to replace my WRT54g, hoping that it would fix my call dropping problem. I had tried installing some friend recommended third party firmware on the WRT54g that he said would fix my problem, and with my infinite technological wisdom and experience ended up bricking it.
My problem is that randomly during skype calls with my family back home, I will lose internet connection. It drops the skype call and then I cannot open a web page or anything for about 60 seconds. My internets dead, then it just starts working normally again by itself. I can have anywhere from 60 seconds of connectivity up to 20 minutes or more while skyping. This all happens over a wired connection. Changing the router didn't change a thing, the problem still happens in exactly the same way. I have good bandwidth and all that stuff.Also, I watch netflix on my Xbox 360 over a wireless connection. Sometimes it will just lose connection in the middle of a show. However, the difference is that I can reconnect almost instantly after an interruption on that device. I have fixed the settings on the two different channels according to one of the other post I found in this community, and have not tried those settings out yet. This doesn't worry me as much as the wired connection issues.

I also have a Linksys WRT54G router and I'm wondering if it's possible to put the Linksys in the other area of the house and capture the signal from the Tompson. Then connect to that signal with my laptop. Maybe this will work to give me wifi in all areas.

I can receive a call and make a call one at a time. If a second line rings in and is picked up the first call and the second go dead air. I am sure that it is a security setting somewhere that I just can't seem to figure out. I sure would like to get some direction on this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBeen having random connection drops for the past few weeks where I would see the network connections to the router just drop either on a wireless connection or a wired cat 5 connection. As of tonight I cant connect to the router at all. If I disconnect and reconnect the power after 30 seconds it will come up for a short time but then I will lose it again. linksys as my router is out of warrenty. I'v searched around for similiar problems people have been having, but it seems like mostly involve just the internet connection. I still have the same firmware for the routers as the day I purchased it and the router sits on my desk in a ventilated area not overheating. I can do to further diagnose the problem, I have even tried resetting to factory defaults. I try to diagnose the problem or see if my router is just dead.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy E2500 was working great for the past 3 months, and now it seems to be broken since I cannot access the internet anymore. I can connect to the router via wireless or wired at 192.168.1.1 and play with all the settings. On the status page, I have entries for Internet IP Address, Default Gateway, DNS1, and DNS2 as though I was connected fine to my DSL modem.If I connect my computer to my DSL modem then I can access the internet perfectly fine, so I know the modem is working. However, if I connect the E2500 to the modem, and then my macbook to the E2500 then I cannot access anything other than the router config pages. I have also tried, from the router admin page, to ping "www.yahoo.com" and "8.8.8.8" to no avail.
I have tried without success:
1. Renewing IP address from the router status page.
2. Cycling the power on the modem.
3. Rebooting the router.
4. Unplugging the power from both the modem and the router for 10 minutes and reconnecting it.
5. Resetting the router by holding down the reset button for 30s.
6. Using a different computer.
7. Turning off the firewall.
8. Reinstalling the firmware (1.0.01 build 3 May 6, 2011)
My lap top and other desktop are able to detect the internet but not my main computer with this router.

My laptop and ipad are working fine with the router but i can't get my iphone hooked up and dont think i have the correct password. I dont have any software on my laptop to even figure it out. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had no problems with the WUSB54GS connecting to the WRT54GS up until last Friday...it can no longer connect to the router and reports that the network cannot be found.When i refresh the list of available networks i can "see" the router on the wireless PC but when an attempt to connect is made,it fails.OK,i rang up Linksys tech support today and we tried everything possible to work out what the problem was e:g uninstalling/reinstalling the software,updating the routers firmware,disabling security,trying all channels 1 thru 11,using WEP,using WPA,changing SSID name,using secure easy setup,using windows wireless configuration,changing USB leads nothing will make the device connect.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have connected a Seagate Free Agent 500GB to the USB port of my E4200 and while it does work fine, When the drive has been idle for a while, it goes into power saving mode, turning the spindle motor off. This means it takes a few seconds to access the disk. Not a problem, but apparently, those few seconds are enough for either Windows or the E4200 to decide that the disk is no longer accessible. The share is still available, but I get missing folders and files, files won't open or are not found, and backups job with Acronis True Image will fail because it thinks the share is unavailable.Sometimes, constantly refreshing the view and opening files at random will revive the share, but often, the only way to get it back is to restart the computer.
The problem is definitely related to the power saving. If I leave a video clip playing or similar, so there's always some disk access preventing the drive from entering power save mode, it works fine. But 15-20 minutes of no disk activity immediately causes problems.
