I have a DSL connection and obviously it coming through the phone line. Is there any kind of software that I can use to make landline calls through my computer? The DSL modem is ZXDSL. I know I can use Skype, vBuzzer and Google Talk etc etc. But I want to make calls through my landline using my computer or laptop.

I got a new broad band connection , its with an ADSL modem (ZTE ZXDSL 831). Now i want to plug in my TL-WR841N to use my WiFi and to connect to my second machine!! no matter what setup i try, i'm unable to connect
For some reason I can no longer make Wi-Fi calls with my E1200 router. I have checked with my ISP and T-mobil. They both tell me that everything on their respective ends is working correctly. The only piece of the equation is the router.

I am setup with a SIP provider, so all my incoming and outgoing calls use SIP.So my question is, how does my ADSL modem handle incoming SIP calls,e.g the SIP call comes in and reaches my adsl modem. Then, how does the modem find the actual port that has my ATA adaptor (analog phone) or CME router attached ? I know port forwarding would handle this, but I am not actually using any configured port forwarding rules.

But after Cox fixed the outage, I have to reset the modem. The problem is I do not know when the outage is fixed. Sometimes, I reset the modem and call cox all day long. Is there a modem which can reset itself after there is the internet signal?The second question is my desktop pc, which connected to the wireless router through a cable, sometimes displays a error page in IE8 (Internet Explorer). At the same time, the laptops using wireless can view IE8 pages.I think what happened is there is a internet signal outage in my house but the laptops got re-connected to the internet automatically and the desktop did not re-connect. Sometimes, I can ping a website on the desktop but I cannot see the pages in IE. Re-open IE does not fix the problem. The solution is to re-boot the pc. Is there a network card or software I can use to re-connect to the web after the internet signal becomes available? My pc's mother board has the network device to plug in the cable. The brand is Gigabyte.

View 9 Replies View Relatedmy computer randomly disconnects from my modem and will not reconnect until I restart my computer (do not need to restart modem). When I check the modem, it always is still running. The lights on the modem do the exact same thing whether the internet is working or not. The disconnection is entirely random. Sometimes it will disconnect immediately, sometimes it will take up to a few hours. I do not have a router hooked up to the modem, and the only other thing the modem is hooked up to is our tv. But even when the tv box is off, we still randomly disconnect.

I have a network set up currently with a cable modem that goes into a router, the router then goes to a 16 port switch and the switch goes to computers, printers, and my server. I am trying to figure out how to make the modem plug into the switch instead of the router. I'm guessing my problem lies with the default gateway since that is the router. Any suggestions on this? Or how is the best way to set this up? I have 2 NICs on my server and the server has windows 2008 r2.

With this 4300 I can't connect to anyone at all. I disabled DHCP server in my rotuer and that aving more fails than succeeds. (in connecting to people).My router doesn't have bridge mode but my modem does, I don't know what it does in the modem. My friend had the exact same problem I did and he put his router in bridge mode which I do not.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on the computer I want to make the connection on.I am also using Verizon FioS internet (comes with default router/modem combo) to which I have the DIR-655 router connected. I am able to connect to both WiFi's fine and they work correctly.I think the Verizon router is set to block incoming VPN connections and I think this is why I cannot get anyone to be able to access my computer / internet via VPN. It is not giving off a wireless signal. It works as a router just fine. I have my landline ethernet cable coming into it, and then a cord going to my desktop and a cord going to my laptop and the internet works fine. However, it give off no wireless signal.
I tried resetting to factory settings and that did not work. I've attached a pic of the router when it's turned on. You can see the middle button is Orange and the wireless icon is not lighted at all.

What I did was go into my Linksys router, setup the port I want to forward to my 3389 (RDP port on the specific machine). Let's say port 45000. In the past, before Windstream took over and I had DSL with a local Telco, I would just enter my IP address and port number and I was in to the machine. Example: 171.234.54.191:45000 That would be the IP address of my modem (which just passed though the requests) to the router. Now when I do the same thing I just get an error message that looks like this: It seems that the modem/router is not passing though the request to the router. This is why I didn't want their new router/modem which the HAVE to charge $120 for worse quality machine than what I already had.

It tells me the SSID etc but when I connect to it, it becomes an unidentified network and has no internet connectivity. This problem only occurs on my laptop via wifi, wifi still works fine on other computers and my phone so I assume it is a problem on my laptops end. Also my laptop can connect to other wireless networks, ie my schools public network, and they work fine. I'm running windows 7 home premium.
