I had windstreams modem "speedstream 4200" but parents for whatever reason thought the 4300 would change everything. With the 4200 I was open for gaming, could connect. With this 4300 I can't connect to anyone at all. I disabled DHCP server in my rotuer and that aving more fails than succeeds. (in connecting to people). My router doesn't have bridge mode but my modem does, I don't know what it does in the modem. My friend had the exact same problem I did and he put his router in bridge mode which I do not.
I have the E4200. I have two networks, a 2.4 for internet, and a 5gHz for media. I want to have a wired connection to the 5gHz network as some of the media is on my PC. However, it seems I can only have a wired connection to the 2.4gHz network. Is there any way to do this?
I am using a cable company called Cox.net for the internet. The cable modem is Motorola brand.Sometimes, the modem got disconnected due to outage in my area. But after Cox fixed the outage, I have to reset the modem. The problem is I do not know when the outage is fixed. Sometimes, I reset the modem and call cox all day long. Is there a modem which can reset itself after there is the internet signal? The second question is my desktop pc, which connected to the wireless router through a cable, sometimes displays a error page in IE8 (Internet Explorer). At the same time, the laptops using wireless can view IE8 pages.I think what happened is there is a internet signal outage in my house but the laptops got re-connected to the internet automatically and the desktop did not re-connect. Sometimes, I can ping a website on the desktop but I cannot see the pages in IE. Re-open IE does not fix the problem. The solution is to re-boot the pc. Is there a network card or software I can use to re-connect to the web after the internet signal becomes available? My pc's mother board has the network device to plug in the cable. The brand is Gigabyte.
My brother's Speedstream has died. Lights don't work, etc. etc. He has ATT DSL in Detroit; Detroit does not have an internet wireless service, so he has to deal with ATT. He's po'd that he's paying $92 a month for service that doesn't work. I told him he needed a new DSL modem.
I fiddled with the configure screens using the admin/admin id/password and using the settings from the modem I was given from YAK I now have the SpeedStream 6250 working! If you enter in all the addresses into the various locations the modem will work. Even though it's the Bell interface"
I have a network set up currently with a cable modem that goes into a router, the router then goes to a 16 port switch and the switch goes to computers, printers, and my server. I am trying to figure out how to make the modem plug into the switch instead of the router. I'm guessing my problem lies with the default gateway since that is the router. Any suggestions on this? Or how is the best way to set this up? I have 2 NICs on my server and the server has windows 2008 r2.
We have a modem at home but it doesn't have built in wifi so we have it connected to a router. We have fast internet (ADSL2 i think) but running through the router, it's very slow. So i was wondering if i could somehow make my laptop a modem? Or a router as well because it would have to be faster than the one we have now. Im running a Acer Aspire 1830 Notebook 32-bit windows simple language when replying
I am trying to add my Hisense LED42T18GP to my home Siemans Gigaset SE568 WAN. The TV has two modes of setting up access to the Network Neighbourhood DHCP IP (AUTO) and Fix IP (Manual) I can't get either to connect and I suspect I have to change something on the Router. When I select auto setup I get "On: DHCP not ready!" when I set the fixed IP I get "On: Can't get any IP" The TV handbook is no goog, there are 3 things to be set 1) IP address but it does not say IP address of what - Router, Desktop computer or TV. 2) Network mask is no problem. 3) default gateway does not specipy if this should be the IP address of the Router, WAN or desktop computer. I have tried every combination of each and always get the same result. The router has Full internet Gateway Device IGD support enabled.
I have a DSL connection and obviously it coming through the phone line. Is there any kind of software that I can use to make landline calls through my computer? The DSL modem is ZXDSL. I know I can use Skype, vBuzzer and Google Talk etc etc. But I want to make calls through my landline using my computer or laptop.
I'm trying to hook up a Siemens Speedstream 4100 and a Linksys E2500. The internet works fine when I plug the modem directly into the computer. When I try to run it through the router, though, the router install appears to work right but I get a message saying that my internet connection might not be working. I power-cycled everything - unplugged all the cords and waited 20 minutes before restarting. It sounds like putting my modem in bridge mode might be the move? When I type in 192.168.0.1, I get a message that says "Server says: Linksys E2500." It also wants login information, and I'm not sure what that would be.
Does it matter what kind of modem and wireless router to make DSL the fastest? Also is a modem with built in wireless better than having separate units?
I have a PC modem and recently purchase a netgear N600 wireless router. Do they make a splitter of some sort. So I can use both the PC and IPad? If they make a splitter?
My wifi connection seems to 'brown out' but not consistently. I just had comcast tech out yesterday and he said things seem good up to the cable modem.I just replaced my cisco e3000 with new cisco 4200. No problems when plugged into lan but my gut is telling me it still is in the "feed" and not the router. Anyway to track the latency of the broadband? See if if it comes and goes intermittently?
I'm trying to enable LAG between WLC and a Juniper switch EX-4200 but it is not working.
In the lab i managed to enable LACP between Cisco 2960 and juniper EX-4200 and works with the atached configs that i found on juniper forum. Also LACP between Cisco 2960 and WLC works with te same config, but never between the WLC and Juniper. I've tried with passive mode and slow mode, always seems that juniper is not seeing the WLC BPDUs. I tried with WLC 4402 and 5508 both with 7.0 firmware.
I have a small network of computers and printers in my tax office and consist of three computers running in window xp professional, one computer is designated as the server workstation and the c drive is the share drive and the other two work stations are mapped to the share drive c on the server workstation . so i am using peer to peer networking and these three computers are connected by a seven port router and two other printer are attached to the router also. i am having a problem printing from the computers to these printers, one is a hp laserjet 4200 and another is a hp laserjet all in one 3055.
In the past i just click and i would print, but a few day ago when i click print from either workstation it would que it to printing but it would have a message that it could not find my printer on the network. dont know why it all of a sudden stop working. do not know anything about setting up a printer on a network. do note the printers are connected to the router and not directly to the server workstation computer via usb. So the two workstation and the server workstation have the printer software on the C drive of each computer but for some reason it could not find the printers on the network. How to network a hp laserjet 4200 and Hp laserjet 3055 in a network that is connected by by one seven port router. why is the printers not in the network?
I would like to explain my situation. My house has 2 floors. My broadband modem is on the 2nd floor. I have an ea 2700 linksys router there, connected to the broadband modem. However, i can't get a good wireless signal on 1st floor, therefore i bought a second router, an e 4200 linksys.
I searched the web, and connected both routers via Ethernet cable, plugging them in lan ports. The ea2700 was only configured wireless security passwords. The e4200 had it's ip renamed to 192.168.1.2 and DHCP server turned off. Well, i have a problem here. the second router, doesn't give me access to internet.
To improve the security of my 4200 v1 router, I turned on in the router configuration "Access via HTTPS" and after the reboot I could not access my router via the browser even when I click on the browser message to continue. What do I need to configure either in the router or my browser to use HTTPS?
My HP Microserver (Ubuntu +Samba+Apache) is connected via LAN. I have notebook (Windows 7). To my server (FILE+WEB) I have access only when I connected via LAN cable. In windows 7 i see my server and have access to the files. Webserver works also properly: access with the name of the server in web browser.
But by WiFI connection, there is no access ! The server has the reserved local IP-address, like 192.168.1.200.
What should I do to solve it? By typing "192.168.1.200" i see the localhost page, but nothing more!
My linksys 4200 was set up some time ago for me, (unsecured) and was working fine. I was having problems with just 1 desktop that was using a usb wireless adapter, so I went and purchased a new cisco ae2500. While connecting I used the push button that it described, only it knocked out the network, and all the other computers are now off of the network. The new network(s) are Cisco_WPS_42526 (secure) and Cisco_WPS_42526-guest. Not knowing the network key and the guys that set it up are gone, I tried the guest. WHICH REQUIRES A PASSWORD!!!! I can now not get ANY of my computers online! How do I find the security, or the password? Why would you need a password for an insecure network anyway?
I am working on a Perl script to be ran on our different subnets to see what hosts are down (and make the assumption that if the host is down the IP address is free to be used). This is not being ran on a Linux system, so I can't use grep to filter out everything except down hosts. I know there are modules for Nmap that would make this task easier, but my plan is to install Nmap to our network monitoring server, compile the script for Windows, and have it create the report for what addresses are down. I don't want each person running the script to have to have all the modules installed, etc. Or can you compile the script with the modules in it?
I work at a boarding high school at nights and as such I have a lot of free time. However the internet here is very restricted due to obvious concerns about children and unrestricted access. I have private internet at my room on campus but its too far away to connect to. I was wondering if it would be possible to setup my laptop/tablet to connect to my home computer and access the internet through them without restriction. And if so how would I go about doing that?
Using ACS 5.2, under Network Resources>Network Devices and AAA Clients>, I can only filter by:
Name NDG:Location NDG:Device Type Description
How can I find a device by its IP Address? or how can I enable this option?
On this link:[URL] I read the following: ''Network Device Filters—Based on the AAA client that processes the request. A network device can be identified by its IP address, by the device name that is defined in the network device repository, or by the NDG'.....
Am I wrong but the only way to filter external routes - type 5 - is with a stub area, and area 0 can't be a stub? As far as I know OSPF can't filter on the route tag, so should I be filtering with a route-map?
In my building there are 2 wireless access points connected directly via switch into the router. So the problem is i dont want to set a password for the wireless but i want to be able to filter all computers that are connected wireless to my internet because many of them are mass-downloading torrents movies etc. and it slows the internet massively. What do i need to do to make it like a filter , which would be like a ISA server or something.
My main goal i want to filter certain sites including facebook not to be accessible within the network and block all torrets including maliciuos site. I was advised to get Cisco ASA 5505 which i already got a quote. But now i want to know if is the ASA 5505 good enough for this purpose, is there anything additional required to succesfully overcome my main goal?
Im using my upstairs neighbors wifi with permission. It has no protection whatsoever but recently i havent been able to use it anymore, and they both just went on vacation yesterday. Their dad was there for a day or two before they all left, my assumption is he thought i didnt have permission and did something to prevent me from connecting without mentioning it before they left. Its full bars (its directly above me) but the router almost instantly doesn't respond when i try to connect. Did he mac filter my wireless adapters adress? I tried changing my mac address on my wireless adapter (aka, desktop, as it doesn't have a nic) but Tmac cant change it successfully. Tmac is able to change my laptops mac though, but even after doing so i still cant connect to the network.
Other issue - right now im using a crappy 2 bar connection called ddrtvap on my laptop. The laptop sitting right where my wireless adapter for the desktop would be and it connects fine, but my desktop cant connect to this network (it connects to the network, but no internet) while the laptop does just fine. Windows repair is super usefull as it tells me something is wrong with my adapters settings but gives no clue as to what.
I have used all the spots on the form to filter mac addresses. Is there some way to add more? I have a lot of friends that come over from time to time. I also have plenty of my own wireless devices.I like using the mac address filter so not using it is not an option. Hopefully there is a way to add more, instead of being limited to a predetermined amount.
I am trying to block port scans originating in the Russian Federation, thousands per day. I entered 77.88.26.0 as the Remote IP Start and 77.88.26.255 as the Remote IP End, setting the action to Deny. It shows in the inbound filter rules list but my linux server still receives thousands of scans daily from an ip address in that IP netblock. My DIR-655 is running hardware version A3 and firmware 1.34NA.
Most of our VPN connections are done with our Cisco 3030 and the internet goes out the ASA. We are able to filter all web traffic by doing a a span port for web traffic.
When we move VPN connections to the ASA we will loose the ability to span web traffic becuase its coming in and going out the same interface on the ASA. We will loose the ability to filter web traffic when this happens.
How we can filter web traffic on VPN connections on the ASA. We are using websense. I know there is some integration that can be done with the ASA and websense but it doesn't have all the capabilities as doing a span port for websense to monitor.
