Bypassing An Internet Filter?
Jan 12, 2013
I work at a boarding high school at nights and as such I have a lot of free time. However the internet here is very restricted due to obvious concerns about children and unrestricted access. I have private internet at my room on campus but its too far away to connect to. I was wondering if it would be possible to setup my laptop/tablet to connect to my home computer and access the internet through them without restriction. And if so how would I go about doing that?

Through experimentation I recently found that the video viewing problems on my computer are being caused by the wireless router. If I bypass my router and plug my computer directly into the modem, I have no problem viewing videos. But then that causes my laptop in another part of the house to loose its wireless connection to the net.I understand there is a way of bypassing the router without losing the laptop wireless connection. It has something to do with entering CMD and I.P. Config and a couple of other proceedures of which I am not sure how to do.
how this is accomplished. It is described in a video on [url.... but I cannot play the video long enough to get all the details and the guy giving the instruction talks much too fast to catch the portion that does play.

I have a situation that may be a little unusual here. I need to have the DNS servers used by the router be for our isp, but the DNS servers used by our individual pc's to point to a different location. The reason being that we are filtering web browsing on the PC's, but setting that at the router level messes up our VOIP and CC processing. I know how to set the DNS servers on the PC's themselves. But as stated we have problems with the phones and cc processing equipment if I change from our ISP's DNS servers and/or uncheck 'Enable DNS Relay', which makes the filtering work on the pc's but the other devices no longer have a connection.

I have been trying to play WoW but it seems it is blocked by my netgear firewall. Thus, I tried using a proxy server [URL] but it seems that only allows me to surf the web but not open up the actual game client. So, now im not sure what i need to do to bypass the block.

I'm moving into a new place pretty quick, and my ISP has just introduced those lovely (read: awful) modem/router combos. I want to use my router running DD-WRT however. If I disable all firewalls, etc. and the DHCP server on the built-in router, and then have that all enabled on my DD-WRT router, everything should work, right? That way the combo unit would basically just be acting as a modem.

We have a network, with a MAC filter for the internet acces. Every body can just have one MAC adress entry on their name for internet acces . My idea was to give the MAC adress of another router(that i can control), plug the LAN cable in the WAN of the second router, and then connect more computers to that router. Would that enable Internet acces for all the computers behind the 2 router?would it work if i make one computer with an extra network card, register that computers MAC adress and forward internet by the second network card to a router or other computer?

I'm trying to remove my router from my home network and connect my computer directly into the line coming into the house. I'm doing this to, among other things, run some tests to evaluate the impact of my router on my bandwidth. However, removing the line seems to be causing problems.Everything is fine when I'm behind the router, but once I unplug the line from the router and plug it directly into my computer, I can't connect to the internet. I get a "limited or no access" error on my Local Area Network. Once I reconnect the router, though, everything's fine.I've tried several things.I've tried turning off the Windows Firewall to no avail (I have no other firewalls on my computer).I've checked to make sure that "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" are checked, which they are.I ran ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew only to receive the following error:"An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out."I'm running Windows 7 behind a Linksys WRT54G router. My line is (I think) fiber-optic, since there's no modem anywhere in the house, just a small beige termination box.I've posted dumps of ipconfig /all with and without the router. What do I need to do to get online without the router? [code]

I'm trying to bypass the parental block on a Linksys Router. When i try to connect (i already entered the password) it just says Unable to Connect. So my question is how does the router identify my computer and how can I change it. Its usually a time triggered block. but right now its blocking me 24/7. A few people mentioned MAC address is whats filtering me.

I am using a linksys wrt600N with easylink advisor version 1.6.0042. I am trying to install a video camera and the instruction manual says under "known issues": LinkSys routers have a factory default setting in the firewall menu called "filter anonymous internet requests". If you want to access your camera from the internet you have to uncheck this option."I see this option in the WRT600N manual, but it references a software choice that I don't have.I have gone to the website and downloaded the latest compatible software version, and I still don't have the choice to uncheck this option.

Using Cisco ASA5510 Security Plus (Post May 2010) with 8.2(1)
I was trying to limit the number of internet IP Address that can initiate Remote Access VPN connection to the firewall. I have plan to only allow internet IP Address from few ISPs for control.
However, blocking AHP, ESP, ISAKMP, NON500-ISAKMP, and IPSec Over TCP Port Assigned in the firewall outside interface doesn't work. But it works by putting the ACL in the router before the firewall. It seems that the firewall have a "hidden" process VPN first before user entered ACL (or explicit rule), similar to Checkpoint FW's implied rule. How to get around it?

I would like to push route for admin services (Vlan20) to bypass the firewall via an other connection (CSI to CSE). So my first choice was to create a route-map in (CSI) but I don't know how to do it. On my Firewall ASA, I don't have any Context License, that is why I would like to do it like this.
I have included some part of my initial configuration CSI and CSE and diagram.
CSI configuration (Switch L3 3750) {
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1

no switchport

I've been trying to resolve this problem for a while now, but finally decided to post the question on the forums.live in a collage dorm. internet connection is behind a router that does NOT support port forwarding (no uPnP either). However it'd be great if I could access my computer from the "outside".I figured if I could connect to the computer in the dorm by using some 3rd party server (having dorm comp connected to the 3rd party, and me connecting to the 3rd party). However idk if anyone provides such services (preferably free ) also I don't know how such a service is named, so I can't really do any searching.

I am working on a Perl script to be ran on our different subnets to see what hosts are down (and make the assumption that if the host is down the IP address is free to be used). This is not being ran on a Linux system, so I can't use grep to filter out everything except down hosts. I know there are modules for Nmap that would make this task easier, but my plan is to install Nmap to our network monitoring server, compile the script for Windows, and have it create the report for what addresses are down. I don't want each person running the script to have to have all the modules installed, etc. Or can you compile the script with the modules in it?

Using ACS 5.2, under Network Resources>Network Devices and AAA Clients>, I can only filter by:
Name
NDG:Location
NDG:Device Type
Description
How can I find a device by its IP Address? or how can I enable this option?
On this link:[URL] I read the following: ''Network Device Filters—Based on the AAA client that processes the request. A network device can be identified by its IP address, by the device name that is defined in the network device repository, or by the NDG'.....
How could I do this on my ACS server?

In my building there are 2 wireless access points connected directly via switch into the router. So the problem is i dont want to set a password for the wireless but i want to be able to filter all computers that are connected wireless to my internet because many of them are mass-downloading torrents movies etc. and it slows the internet massively. What do i need to do to make it like a filter , which would be like a ISA server or something.

Im using my upstairs neighbors wifi with permission. It has no protection whatsoever but recently i havent been able to use it anymore, and they both just went on vacation yesterday. Their dad was there for a day or two before they all left, my assumption is he thought i didnt have permission and did something to prevent me from connecting without mentioning it before they left. Its full bars (its directly above me) but the router almost instantly doesn't respond when i try to connect. Did he mac filter my wireless adapters adress? I tried changing my mac address on my wireless adapter (aka, desktop, as it doesn't have a nic) but Tmac cant change it successfully. Tmac is able to change my laptops mac though, but even after doing so i still cant connect to the network.
Other issue - right now im using a crappy 2 bar connection called ddrtvap on my laptop. The laptop sitting right where my wireless adapter for the desktop would be and it connects fine, but my desktop cant connect to this network (it connects to the network, but no internet) while the laptop does just fine. Windows repair is super usefull as it tells me something is wrong with my adapters settings but gives no clue as to what.

I have used all the spots on the form to filter mac addresses. Is there some way to add more? I have a lot of friends that come over from time to time. I also have plenty of my own wireless devices.I like using the mac address filter so not using it is not an option. Hopefully there is a way to add more, instead of being limited to a predetermined amount.

I am trying to block port scans originating in the Russian Federation, thousands per day. I entered 77.88.26.0 as the Remote IP Start and 77.88.26.255 as the Remote IP End, setting the action to Deny. It shows in the inbound filter rules list but my linux server still receives thousands of scans daily from an ip address in that IP netblock. My DIR-655 is running hardware version A3 and firmware 1.34NA.

Most of our VPN connections are done with our Cisco 3030 and the internet goes out the ASA. We are able to filter all web traffic by doing a a span port for web traffic.
When we move VPN connections to the ASA we will loose the ability to span web traffic becuase its coming in and going out the same interface on the ASA. We will loose the ability to filter web traffic when this happens.
How we can filter web traffic on VPN connections on the ASA. We are using websense. I know there is some integration that can be done with the ASA and websense but it doesn't have all the capabilities as doing a span port for websense to monitor.

I've got a PIX running 7.2(4) with its outside interface on the Internet. The only thing this PIX is doing is acting as the endpoint for an IPSEC LAN-to-LAN tunnel with an Internet-connected ASA on another network.
I'd like to filter inbound Internet traffic to this PIX so that only the designated ASA can attempt to establish an IPSEC connection -- in other words, I want to prevent any other device on the Internet from even being able to attempt to establish an IPSEC connection to the PIX. As far as I know (and have seen), this can't be done with an access-list on the outside interface, since that access-list doesn't apply to traffic to the PIX itself.

We have our aggregation layer here composed of two N7K with vPC between them. Every access switch is a N5K. Security policies state that we have to filter unnecessary vlans going through the trunk between N5K and N7K. So we use the 'switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,20,30' command. My question is: Do I have to include the native vlan id on this command?

(in connecting to people). My router doesn't have bridge mode but my modem does, I don't know what it does in the modem.
