View 1 RepliesI've been trying to resolve this problem for a while now, but finally decided to post the question on the forums.live in a collage dorm. internet connection is behind a router that does NOT support port forwarding (no uPnP either). However it'd be great if I could access my computer from the "outside".I figured if I could connect to the computer in the dorm by using some 3rd party server (having dorm comp connected to the 3rd party, and me connecting to the 3rd party). However idk if anyone provides such services (preferably free ) also I don't know how such a service is named, so I can't really do any searching.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHaving an issue with a Cisco Linksys E1500 on a home network. The device has a feature to provide a guest wireless network but the guest network can't get to the internet. A wired connection is fine, as is the normal wireless network but not the guest. The cheesy thing is, that it doesn't list an option for what type of wireless security protocol you want on the guest network. I'm assuming that it uses the same security protocol that the normal wireless network uses, but who knowsEspecially weird is that it asks you what password you want on the guest network but then the guest network show to be insecure when you try to connectthought maybe it was something funky with some of my configurations so I went ahead and factory defaulted it and just set it up with an insecure network for both the normal and guest networks. This didn't solve it. The guest network still couldn't get to the internet. In fact, the guest network can't even ping the router.

I am trying to connect my android to my home network how do i go about that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a work supplied laptop. Used to be able to connect to my home wireless network - this stopped working last week. It can connect to other wireless networks, both at the office and other public places, but can't connect to my home network.
I've tried: Manually creating the wireless network Removing the profile from regedit Removing the profile from ProgramDataMicrosoftWlansvcsProfiles
It sees the network and attempts to connect, but never successfully connect. I have other laptops at home that are working just fine. The network is setup with WEP security, and I've entered/reentered the password several times.
Note, when I started this, the home network did not appear under the Manage Wireless Networks list in the Network and Sharing Center.
for example, there are 3 sites, A, B and C. A and B are 1.5 km apart and both are separate LAN(mixture of wireless and wired). C is 35 km apart from A and B. I have to connect A, B and C so that they can communicate with each other. Security is required.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy Vista computer and my XP computer had been happily "talking" to each other, sharing files and printers. I got tired of paying $70 a year for Norton Internet Security, so I uninstalled it (using the Norton removal tool) and selected the Windows Firewall. I also installed Avast! and SuperAntiSpyware. Now neither computer talks to the other. When I run "\FamilyRoomHPOfficeJet" I get "Windows cannot access \FamilyRoomHPOfficeJet" . Check spelling, etc. Get error code 0x800704b3 "The network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist or the network provider is not currently available..." What have I messed up by going from the Norton firewall to the Windows one.

Let me start by saying i know pirating is wrong. Dont tell me i shouldn't do it. I download TV shows so i can watch them when i want.Okay, With the Six Strikes Program set to start this week. Major ISP's like AT&T and time Warner are going to start sending you stuff when you download torrents. And throttling your bandwidth after so many times.

View 6 Replies View RelatedBeing a university, we get the occasional copyright infringement notice. We outsource our student housing, so we don't get near the number we used to or near the number of most other universities, but we do get them. Maybe one or two per week. And I typically trace them to wireless users. We have a Cisco ASA 5580 firewall. We have several ranges of public IP addresses and mostly do 1-to-1 NAT. We leave the last few addresses for PAT translation if all the NAT ranges are exhausted. When I receive a copyright infringement notice, if they were assigned a NAT address by the ASA, it's no problem to track down the user. However, my problem is if they have been assigned a PAT address (which is happening much more often this semester). I don't know how to link the info that the RIAA or MPAA or whoever sends me to the info I get from the ASA logs.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI have a hobby network at home, the structure of which follows:*Modem * - active SPI firewall -- Then the E4200 distributes data via wifi to/between the following machines --*Server - providing services such as http, FTP, VPN, Mail, MySQL, OpenDirectory, Plex media server, etc.*Two other workstations that access their user details/settings from open directory on the server. Now the purpose of this network other than providing standard access to Internet services from within the LAN is to provide access to the services maintained on my server to users on my LAN when they leave it/go mobile. Now with my limited knowledge of networking I have been using port forwarding to direct service requests through the firewall, however I have found with the E4200 that I have a limited number of custom port fields to use (about 15) which is extremely limiting when I have as many potential services that my server can provide.I could move the Server to a DMZ but then dosen't that put all my other services that have no need to be exposed at unnecessary risk.Do I need to invest in a separate hardware firewall and put it after the modem and before the router?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Netgear Router WNR 2000 v3 and installed it. I got inside the router and could set up a Network Name and security key. However, I can not access the internet when I chose a security password using WPA 2, WPA-PSK + WPA 2 PSK, or WPA/WPA 2. It only accesses the internet when I chose None.( no secured ).At this time, my network is unsecured because there isn't way I can access the internet when I create a security key using the 3 options the router offers.
Note : I have tried the 3 security options creating a key number and my computer connect to the wireless network but don't access the internet. It only access the internet when I select None ( no secured )
I have a Time Warner Cable business class service with no static IP, with a wireless modem which is plugged to a CAT5 distribution panel. On the jacks (2 other rooms on the house) I have a Linksys E3000 and a Linksys Valet router for signal boost and gadgets usage (TV, cameras, etc). The main router (TWC) has it's own external IP which TWC assigns to me and internally distributes via DHCP the range 192.168.0.x. With that said:
- The E3000 has a 192.168.0.6 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The Valet has a 192.168.0.7 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The main router has the 192.168.0.1 as the gateway and web-interface
Whenever I connect something to the E3000, it is distributing the 192.168.1.x range and the valet 192.168.2.x range. That works perfectly for my home based business until I decided to use more stuff on the network such as a IP printer, IP cameras, etc.
- The IP cameras are connected to the E3000 due to signal strength and I have manually assigned them the 192.168.1.15 and 192.168.1.16 IPs and ports 9001 and 9002.
- The printer is connected to the E3000 and I have manually assigned the IP 192.168.1.30.
Issue 1: Port forwarding On the main router (TWC - UBEE) I have tried to setup a port forwarding by informing the Local IP as 192.168.0.6 (E3000 IP), Internal Port 0, Public Interface IP (0.0.0.0), Ext Start Port 9001, Ext End Port 9001, Protocol - Both, Enabled Yes. On the E3000 I did the same config (screen shot attached e3000.png).This is not working properly. I can't get into the camera.
Issue 2: Printer/ The printer is only accessible if I connect to the E3000 (because it is on the 192.168.1.x network)
Issue 3: How to configure all the devices on the same subnet? If I want everyone to be on the 192.168.0.x network, how to configure properly the E3000 and the Valet? I have tried to force them into the same network but it would not work properly. It would not get an IP from the UBEE router (main).
Through experimentation I recently found that the video viewing problems on my computer are being caused by the wireless router. If I bypass my router and plug my computer directly into the modem, I have no problem viewing videos. But then that causes my laptop in another part of the house to loose its wireless connection to the net.I understand there is a way of bypassing the router without losing the laptop wireless connection. It has something to do with entering CMD and I.P. Config and a couple of other proceedures of which I am not sure how to do.
how this is accomplished. It is described in a video on [url.... but I cannot play the video long enough to get all the details and the guy giving the instruction talks much too fast to catch the portion that does play.
I work at a boarding high school at nights and as such I have a lot of free time. However the internet here is very restricted due to obvious concerns about children and unrestricted access. I have private internet at my room on campus but its too far away to connect to. I was wondering if it would be possible to setup my laptop/tablet to connect to my home computer and access the internet through them without restriction. And if so how would I go about doing that?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a situation that may be a little unusual here. I need to have the DNS servers used by the router be for our isp, but the DNS servers used by our individual pc's to point to a different location. The reason being that we are filtering web browsing on the PC's, but setting that at the router level messes up our VOIP and CC processing. I know how to set the DNS servers on the PC's themselves. But as stated we have problems with the phones and cc processing equipment if I change from our ISP's DNS servers and/or uncheck 'Enable DNS Relay', which makes the filtering work on the pc's but the other devices no longer have a connection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm moving into a new place pretty quick, and my ISP has just introduced those lovely (read: awful) modem/router combos. I want to use my router running DD-WRT however. If I disable all firewalls, etc. and the DHCP server on the built-in router, and then have that all enabled on my DD-WRT router, everything should work, right? That way the combo unit would basically just be acting as a modem.

I want to do this to clean up the computer room wiring a bit and to run line drops to different rooms in the house where the internet will be utilized.Currently there are two PC's, a laptop, a tablet, sometimes a phone, and an XBOX using the internet.
