i want my computer to make connections to only a single port (53 in this case)......how can i do this? i am using a wireless broadband data card. i am using windows 7 ultimate. is there any way to make such settings in my pc and if so how do i set or make the settings so that my computer will only make connections and also listen to the single port 53?

I recently upgraded my ADSL to a 1Mbps line and I got a new Fritz box(7390) with it and i bought a linksys ae3500 wireless router. I am using Bit comet to download my torrents and my listen port stays at a yellow light. I previously had only the Fritz box 7170 and my listen port was always green.

So here's the deal, my friend has horrible down speed, usually less than 1MB/s according to Speedtest.net, sometimes it hits 2MB/s. However, his brother's in the house have at least 17MB/s, which I can assume is their actual speed that my friend should have... however, he specifically does not.He had a very old wireless card that was installed on his motherboard (desktop PC) that I assumed was the issue upon him first telling me, and from the issues I was personally able to see. For example, he'd constantly disconnect... his internet would just die for him specifically, and then come back. His brother's never lost internet when he did.
After that, I figured his very old wireless card that was installed was just kicking the bucket, so I instructed him to replace it. He went out and bought a new wireless USB adapter, and then uninstalled the network card.Even after all of this, his internet is still poor in terms of down speed. HOWEVER, rather than his internet dying for a few minutes at a time every so often, his internet "stays connected" if that makes sense? For example, we'll be on Skype in a conference call, and his internet will be loading pages very slowly, and Skype will constantly show that it's going from "green - online" to "gray circle - connecting". During this, he's still in Skype, but it's very poor quality from him speaking, and laggy as well.
I have an old computer that is currently running XP at 2.1GHz Athlon AMD with 1.5 DDR RAM, would I be able to turn it into a dedicated server? More importantly, should I? all I have is a small home network running a couple desktops and a printer off one and connected by a wireless router to the internet, would it make a difference at all in processing speed or connectivity on any of them?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'll start out with the fact I work mostly with Wi-Fi and not a lot in the security realm... If I plug my workstation into the 3560, my wired client adapter can get an IP address. But the WLAN adapter will not when associated to WLAN.Usually this is not a problem since you may only have two access points on the controller and a dozen or so hosts. In my case, however, I want to put a few of the ports on the 3560 into the same VLAN as the WLAN on the 2106 so I can give them the same guest access as the WLAN. The hosts plugged into the 3560 get an IP address without issue from the ASA. When I disable dhcp proxy, the WLAN clients get an IP address, but then the APs cannot get an IP address from the internal DHCP server on the WLAN controller, and cease to function when rebooted since they cannot get to the controller without an IP address.
Any way to configure the ASA to accept the modified DHCP packets from the WLAN controller? It appears to me that the ASA is not able to accept DHCP relayed packets.
I purchased 3 AE2500s to connect 3 machines in my house.2 of the machines it works great. However on the 3rd machine, when I start browsing around (2.4Ghz or 5Ghz), things start going wonky and then the device basically loses connection, and the LED indicator starts flashing consistently indefinitely (with no connection).Removing and reconnecting the USB device will allow me to reconnect to my network and do stuff until it happens again. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on the computer I want to make the connection on.I am also using Verizon FioS internet (comes with default router/modem combo) to which I have the DIR-655 router connected. I am able to connect to both WiFi's fine and they work correctly.I think the Verizon router is set to block incoming VPN connections and I think this is why I cannot get anyone to be able to access my computer / internet via VPN. I need to send data back and forth between a server on the inside network and a device on the outside network on port 44818. No amount of configuration is allowing this to happen. The packet tracer always fails on of the implicity "deny" rules, even though my other rule should explicitly permit it. I also realize I need to set up routing from my outside network to the inside network, but I cannot see from the documentation how to do that on this particular port without simultaneously breaking my outside connection.
The inside IP for the ASA is 192.168.25.1
The outside IP for the ASA 192.168.11.54

Is there a way to forward a single port, while leaving the others alone? For instance I want to forward all https traffic on a public IP to an internal server on port 4443. At the same time traffic on all other ports for this IP needs to be forwarded on the original port. It looks like creating a Network Object will allow a single port to be forwarded, but what happens to the remaining traffic? I attempted to create Service Objects that I then assigned to NAT statements.

I would like to forward port 10100 to port 25 to my mail server. There are times when our people are at a hotel and they block port 25 and I have done this in the past on a BEFSR11 and BEFSR41 router. There does not seem to be a Single Port Forwarding setup page and the Port Forwarding setup page only allows you to forward a range to a specific computer, it does not give you a different port you can assign an incoming port to.
I have the most current firmware revision, 2.0.0.11, and Hardware Version WRTR-221G_V01.
I was wanting to port forward a port that was 25565 for a game of mine, but everytime I try it won't work.
By the way, it's 7AM and I didn't sleep yet so i'll explain more detailed in the morning.

We are migrating from a nother brand to an ASA Cluster running 8.4.5
We have a web-server on an inside interface listening on a non standard port - 20111. We have created a static NAT translating the public ip to the private, so If I do http://public-ip:20111 it works. (we are using a seperate public IP for this service only).
Now I need to create a NAT rule that will forward requests on BOTH port 80 and 443 to the same private ip and the same port number (20111)
The Private address is 10.99.250.20 and the "public" (I've replaced it in this example) is 172.16.16.16 I have managed to create a NAT that will translate 443 to 20111:

But if I try to add another rule like: nat (Private-DMZ,Outside) static 172.16.16.16 service tcp 20111 http It will simply replace the first one.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have been using static NAT to map between a single server behind an ASA 5505 and a single public IP address. In other words, I've been doing this:

Now I would like to start using the clientless VPN feature of the ASA, so I of course don't want that particular port forwarded to the server. Is there a way to define such an exclusion? I've tried several things, including setting up a separate NAT rule to direct that port back to the ASA's interface, without luck.
If that is not possible, what configuration would I need to move to in order to get the behavior that I want? It is important that all (non-VPN) traffic is passed exactly as it arrives at the firewall (whether it is coming from internal or external), with the exception of changing the IP address (i.e., I need static port mappings for some of my services).
At the E4200 there is a limit of (free to make) 15 Single port forwarding and 15 port range forwarding to fill in.I get as suggestion that I must give up a total range of ports where all the ports I use where in.But for security reasons I will not do that.

My router is actually communicating with my computer (physically plugged in), since I can save all other settings EXCEPT the port-fowarding ones.I am trying to save settings for a gaming application in the Single Port Forwarding section of my router settings. After clicking both ''save settings'' and ''continue'', it simply returns to the Single Port Forwarding section, except everything is blank, as though nothing was saved.

Say I have two devices, one on a 10 subnet and the other on a 172 subnet, but i only have one wall jack for both devices to plug into. So I use a mini switch to connect both devices and connect the switch to the wall jack; and of course this all leads back to one switch port. When I go to enter the switchport access vlan 172 cmd, how would I also make it so the device on the 10 subnet could route out ?

From each of the two non-cisco device, i am taking 2 ports each to connect to the 4500.On each non-cisco device side, two ports will bundle together as one aggregated interface (ae1) and the other will be called ae2.
my query is how do i do the configuration for etherchannel on the cisco 4500 side , as it will need two different Po's( port channels).I need a single ip address on both sides of port channel to be present for routing.
I'm new to an ASA 5510 running 8.4(3) and am trying to figure out something regarding time ranges in ASDM. I simply want to allow a single port during business hours only (I'm not concerned about open sessions needing to be closed). So as an example I add a rule something like:
(RULE1 on the internal interface) SRC=INTERNAL DEST=ANY SERVICE=RDP ACTION=PERMIT with a time range set for weekdays 8:00-16:59. I did a test after 5pm on a weekday and was still allowed to do RDP to a server (from INTERNAL), and after using the packet trace tool saw it was still passing through due to a rule a couple lines down (rule 4) that allowed a port range that happened to include port 3389. So my question is if I specify an "allowed" time range and someone attempts access outside that time range, why doesn't it drop it right there? I guess I'm assuming that anything outside the "allowed" time range would be dropped but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm also assuming the rule base is processed top to bottom.
My home web hosting used to work. But because of changing ISP from Verizon to TWC, TWC gave me a modem-router and I bought my own Linksys E2500 router. Both Verizon and TWC services I subscribed are Dynamic IP. I use a third party to redirect the web traffic to my home.TWC gave me a simple modem-router in a box. Input is coax and outputs are 4 ethernet ports. I use one of the 4 ethernet outputs of the TWC box to connect to the internet ethernet input port of the E2500. All my wire and wireless devices are now feeding off the E2500. All wireless and wired devices work and can browse internet through the E2500.I have assigned one computer as the web server and set the internal IP addess of this computer as 192.168.1.128. This is the same for the setup with Verizon before.I loaded the CD came with the E2500 router and can see the LAN 192.168.1.128.My problem starts from here, I do not know how to set the port in E2500 to make the web traffic to 192.168.1.1281. Using the E2500 CD, I click to "APPLICATION AND GAMING", then "SINGLE PORT FORWARDING". under the APPLICATION NAME, I select one of the box to HTTP and type in 128 under "TO IP ADDRESS". I then click ENABLED, then "save settings" . The 192.168.1 is fixed in this window, I can only type 128.This does not work. I can browse internet but cannot access my website from any machines using domain name.Then I tried:2. with item 1 above, I continued to do SETUP>>BASIC SETUP>>DHCP RESEVERSATION. I can see the compute/sever name and the 192.168.1.128. I then click the "select" and save the client.I restarted the computer/server, I unplug and plug the E2500 power. I check the server internal IP address and it is still the same. But I just cannot browse to my website. I can browse other places.

The port is connected to my ISP router which has a bandwidth of 20mbps.Policing won't work on a l2 Port and shaping cannot be applied on a port level. url...I have been reading thru the qos guide for nexus release v6 and have problems understanding the different queues.
