Wan't To Create 2 Wireless Network With Single Router?
Sep 25, 2012
I am using D link DIR 615 router for my network. My ISP sent me a letter few days ago that they can provide me total separate wireless connection other than my regular connection. But they will charge me $10/month for this. just wondering do we have any way to create two separate wireless network so that my clients can access that free wireless connection when they are in my store. But on the other side they don't interfere with my regular connection and its good for my network security too.
I have DSL with a Comtrend router/wifi (WIFI1). I would like to connect the WRT54GL to the physical network and have it create a separate wifi network (WIFI2), so my laptop will connect to WIFI2, get passed to the LAN and on to the Internet. Cant make this work - tried setting up the WRT for DHCP server, DHCP pass through (to the comtrend), and the best I can do is get connected to WIFI2 and have access to the LAN but not the Internet. Ultimately I want to put a high gain antenna on the WRT to make it reach another building about 400' away and do away with comtrends horrible WIFI, but I cant get to first base.
At home I have a D Link DSL-2640R wireless adsl router/modem in my downstairs office.I would like to use the cable which goes to upstairs of the house to link to some sort of extra router or switch in order to provide more network ports upstairs.
I have sent up a wireless network in a large building using WAG120N Modem Router and four E1000 wireless routers set as access points. The E1000's have the DHCP switched off to enable roaming so the WAG120N takes care of all that.
We have two network (one have internet access and other doesnt have) within a same office and some pcs are connected to both the network using two NIC. So i am planning to implement a router in between those network and as it implement default routing so we can share all the resources. make both the network secure from virus as one of the network should be worm free. What i personally think that implementing a router will reduce worm replication.
I recently bought a new computer and router, and want to hook up the router. I read that you can have two routers by connecting one to another with a really long cable, but how does that work? I don't know how and i don't want to mess up my current internet.
I have got a cisco 1841 router. I am able to create different vlan in the cisco router and I have got only 2 ports, fa0/0 and fa0/1. Now, I need to create different network in the same router at least four networks. FA0/0 is used for external networks. Now I want to create 4 vlan in this router. Namely, 10. 10. 10.1, 10.10.11.1, 10.10.12.1 and 10.10.13.1. The FA0/1 is connected to a 48 port normal switch. In the switch I am going to connect the cable of all the 10. 10. networks. Is this possible to access creating four vlan and routing all of them to the external networks with the fa0/1 port only. Is dot1q possible with only the router and a normal switch or is there any other possibility for this case.
As the title states, I am want to set up a single ADSL connection, using 1 router across 6 apartments. The apartments are 2 floors and from the top they look like this The Router is on Apartment 1. Between apartment 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and 5 and 6 is a normal cement wall. Between 3 and 4 is Cement and stone, so are the outside walls of each house. I was thinking of doing it simple and using 3-4 range extenders such as the Linksys RE1000. From what i searched on the internet, and what the documentation states, the signal will get bottle-necked for the last house due to the RE1000 giving half of the bandwidth. Quote from Linksys FAQ: Quote: 7. Can I add more than one RE1000 to my existing wireless network? Yes. But since the RE1000 only gets half of the wireless signal from your main router or access point, adding multiple range extenders can provide you with even lower signal, thus, giving lesser bandwidth to your wireless computers or devices that you are going to connect to these additional extenders. So, what would be an optimal solution to this? Should I go ahead and install the RE1000's? Is there something better that i can do?
I want to Single SSID in my network .I have 3 cisco 4410 WAP. ISP router Have the Wireless .How to get the single ssid in the network .same time i want to do configure in the isp router for wireless?
I need to buy wireless dongle & I'm most likely going with 3.
Can I create a wireless network from a dongle to connect an Archos A28 (Android portable tablet). Like Laptop (Vista Business) connected to internet through dongle in USB slot & Archos can also access internet through said dongle?
Or will I need to buy something like the Mifi thing that is designed as a portable wireless hotspot & connect my laptop & Archos to this?
I am connecting to internet via 3g HSDPA modem which is connected to my PC. And i have a i touch 4g and i need to get wireless access to it via HSDPA modem, So is it possible or is there any device and a method where i can create a wireless network via HSDPA modem? Btw my PC has Windows XP.
I have a working wired network and really all I want to do is set up my DIR-655 on it so that it provides internet only for wireless users, but doesn't allow access to the rest of the local network. I though that's what the Guest network would do, but when I connect to that I can still type in local IP addresses and get to those devices.
"Enable Routing Between Zones" is unchecked in the Guest Zone settings.
We have recently aquired a remote location which has a pre-existing flat network (172.16.X.X/16). Before we are able to convert them over to our new IP scheme, they have a need to have wireless connectivity on site. We have 4 1142's which I need to configure for them. I have experience configuring WLC's and autonomous AP's for networks with multiple vlans but have never configured AP's for a flat, single subnet network. I need to configure them for either guest access (internet only) or corporate access to network resources with radius authentication. Do I configure a native vlan as I would for a typical multi vlan network? Do I configure the switch port as an access port as opposed to a trunk beacause of the lack of layer 3? I basically need a sample configuration for this situation.
I have window 7 64 bit with amd phenom 840 and msi 880 gm series. I installled d link dwa 525 wireless pci card. Window recognises it but cannot create a network or cannot connect to other network.
I am trying to connect my wireless router into the wired ethernet so that i can create a private wireless network for our room. The thing is, my school realizes what you are trying to do and your browser only displays "you are attempting to access (college.edu) network on an unauthorized wireless network. My friend has made it work by turning off the dhcp with his airport extreme and setting it to create new network instead of extend, but after I turn off dhcp I dont know what i should put in for a static ip/ dns/ what to do at all. I can look at all the connections with ipconfig/all , I just don't know the magic things to put in after turning off dhcp to make this work. I have a netgear wireless wndr 3400 n600 router.
I'm able to to create my main network, but unable to create guest network. Already create CP and when connected to the guest SSID, the guest could still see my main network. How to create Guest network?
I can't create a network bridge in windows xp or well i can, but then my wusb600n says it is not connected, it can find networks but it wont connect to them? I tried take out the lan cable and create but with same result, is this normal that this adapter can't handle network bridge? If i make a virtual machine in Virtualbox i can use the internet, but i cant when i create a network bridge connection in windows xp..
I have a laptop in my Office that connects to the internet via a USB dongle. The USB dongle is my only access to the WWW. (as there is no cable in the area) I want to add a wireless LAN to the laptop using wired connection to a wireless ADSL Router in the adjacent building. (there is no ADSL available. Just want the Router for it's HUB capabilities)I have connected the LAN port on the laptop to one of the LAN ports on the ADSL Router via a cable. My plan was to then create a LAN in the adjacent building by adding wireless and wired devices (PCs, ipCameras etc...) to the ADSL Router. When I attempt to setup the ADSL Router, the laptop sees the Wireless Router as conflicting with the wireless attributes of the USB dongle!
I have more than 5000 sq. ft home and have some dead places other end of the house. Now I am looking for Range Extender/Repeater to boost signal. My primary wireless router is Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 and Secondary Linksys E3000 (planning to update firmware to DD-WRT). So I wanted something such that I can roam between the two routers without switching SSID (use single SSID name for primary and secondary DD-WRT routers) and connect automatically to whichever the best signal (or) strength router. In work place we have same thing like that single wireless SSID name which automatically connect wireless SSID from one end to another end of the building.
I've 4 ISP in my office. In my network all the machines are connected through unmanaged switches. Now if I need to shift any one machine to other ISP then I need to change his IP.Is the following possible:
I connect all the four ISP's to a machine(say Server), then I take out a wire and connect it to the switch so that I can distribute all the ISP into the network. Now on the basis of the MAC Address I can change the assign any ISP to any of the other machine in the network. Also is it possible that I can monitor their data usage as well as can CAP there bandwidth.
I just bought a Linksys EA6500 (AC 1750). Now after a week, seems to stop rresponding at times and I am get 5+ MAC Addresses from 1 IP address. I have only one NIC installed and it is configured to have a static IP.
See attached screen capture. ( Server-PC, IP: 192.168.1.130)
How to forward a single port to a different port to a specific computer for the WRV210 router?
I would like to forward port 10100 to port 25 to my mail server. There are times when our people are at a hotel and they block port 25 and I have done this in the past on a BEFSR11 and BEFSR41 router. There does not seem to be a Single Port Forwarding setup page and the Port Forwarding setup page only allows you to forward a range to a specific computer, it does not give you a different port you can assign an incoming port to.
I have the most current firmware revision, 2.0.0.11, and Hardware Version WRTR-221G_V01.
I tried searching through the threads but didn't see anything on this. Recently bought the E4200 so that when guests come by they can use a separate network instead of mine. I have guest network set up for one user but I am able to connect more than one computer to the guest network.
I purchased 3 AE2500s to connect 3 machines in my house.2 of the machines it works great. However on the 3rd machine, when I start browsing around (2.4Ghz or 5Ghz), things start going wonky and then the device basically loses connection, and the LED indicator starts flashing consistently indefinitely (with no connection).Removing and reconnecting the USB device will allow me to reconnect to my network and do stuff until it happens again. Speedtests on speedtest.net ALWAYS fail on upload test, I lose connection then.Streaming a movie across the network immediately causes this (exclamation mark on network icon) Regular browsing causes it also Checking event logs, I get the following error wlan extensibility module has stopped bcmihvsrv.dll The router is an E4200 I have tested all 3 AE2500s on this single machine, and they all do the same thing.Out of the 3 machines ONLY the one that doesn't work is Windows 7 32bit, the other 2 that do work are Windows 7 64bit Considering the event log is complaining about bcmihvsrv.dll, I know the 64bit version uses bcmihvsrv64.dll, could it be a bug in the 32bit drivers?I have attempted at trying different slots, uninstalling the drivers, removing and disabling any other network components in this single machine, lowering the power output in the advanced options, tried 2.4ghz and 5ghz, tried Wireless G only and then Wireless N only...
I have given IP as mentioned below to 1 to 30 pc connected in First Switch.
IP Starts From : 10.10.10.5 To IP : 10.10.10.30 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.224 Gateway: 10.10.10.2
For 31 to 50 Pc in Second Switch
IP Starts From : 10.10.10.40 To IP : 10.10.10.65 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.224 Gateway: 10.10.10.34
IP Starts From : 10.10.10.74 To IP : 10.10.10.85 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.224 Gateway: 10.10.10.69
Pc are connected internally in separate switch. but can not connect all three switches & with server. Only Gateway 10.10.10.69 is connected with server.
At the E4200 there is a limit of (free to make) 15 Single port forwarding and 15 port range forwarding to fill in.I get as suggestion that I must give up a total range of ports where all the ports I use where in.But for security reasons I will not do that.
