SNMP Couldn't Make Router Restrict A Range Of Address Allowed To Use A Community

May 3, 2011

I have a XSR-1805 (Version 7.5.0.0) enterasys router here. Got SNMP server to work successfully. The thing is that I couldn't make the router restrict a range of address allowed to use a community. Only 10.1.0.13 is allowed to use SNMP in this case.

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5512x Restrict Email Delivery To Ip Address Range

Feb 2, 2013

I was wondering how to tighten the security of my email delivery to a range of ip addresses (I know how on my old firewall but the cisco is quite a bit different).  Right now anyone sending email to a particular ip address on my firewall can do so.  I want to restrict that to two ip address ranges it will accept deliver from.  I'm thinking I need two network objects for the two ranges then add to a network object group.  Configuring the ACL for delivery using that group if I'm correct about that ?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200v2 DHCP - Make Manual Reservation Of IP Address Range?

E4200v2, firmware 2.1.39.145204

Router says "Invalid IP address" when I try to make a manual IP address reservation of the IP address range.

Example: local network 192.168.1.0/24, where .1 is a router, .2 is a reservation, .20-.50 is a range for DHCP.

Before upgrade I didn't have this problem.

Cisco :: C6500 - Create SNMP For Couple Of Servers / Access List For Separate Community

Jun 4, 2013

On C6500 series I have to create a separate community to send a SNMP trafic for a couple of gig interfaces.The user that will collect these informations has a Monitoring server and is only interested in monitoring traffic on those link and maybe pps.

I understood to create a an ACL pointing to his IP of the server, and that create a community and associate this access list with that community. Those commands I have, but I need to send the user the MIBs or other relevant info on how to collect and forbid everything else but thos interfaces.Do I need to give the SNMP HOST command and associate with this community after that.

D-Link DIR-600 :: Couldn't Get Any IP Address From Router

Jun 22, 2012

I've recently noticed an issue with the D600. A few days ago, I could not get any IP address from the router (wireless connection) on one of my laptops. I checked the router and it did something never done before: It restarted automatically (orange lights). Everything seemed to work fine but now when one of my device connects to the network (ps3, iPhone, laptops...) no IP address is given by the router so everything is on limited connectivity which is really annoying. I have to turn it off/on to make it work. It happens most of the time.

Note that I already returned the router a couple a year ago or so (I cant recall what was the issue), so I have to say that the quality of this device is far behind my expectations.

DLink DIR-655 Router Maxed Out On Allowed MAC Address?

Nov 30, 2011

I use a DLink DIR-655 router but it only allows around 24 MAC addresses to be specified in the filter list of ALLOWED MAC ADDRs. With a few laptops in the family, a game box, NAS, printer, e-readers, smart phones, I'm maxed out. Alternatively, could I daisy chain them to have one handle wireless devices only and another handle wired devices? If so, I could probably dealt with 24 max wireless MAC addresses specified for a while. If there's a better router out there that's not so limited, I'll upgrade.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WMP300N Couldn't Get WAN IP Address From ISP's Cable Modem

Jan 12, 2012

there could be complications, but it appears the WPM300N is 'bad'?my wife's computer (XP SP3) recently started freezing at random times. Once while surfing she got a BSOD. The last few days it had gotten much worse, sometimes the freeze occuring during the boot process, and again at random points.

What I tried was determing all new s/w installs and deleting them still didn't fix the problem. Next I used some Norton Ghost back-ups restoration from the time period she had the freezes... still was freezing. Next an image from long ago and it still froze. Got me thinking it was h/w related. She has a wireless mouse and keyboard. Put in wired units, still froze.

A few days ago my router died. It couldn't get a WAN IP Address from the ISP's cable modem. ISP verified the modem was working by having me attach directly to it one of my wired computers. This router was a new (2 months old) ASUS RT-N56U. I put back my old LinkSys WRT600N. In doing so I had to change the passphrase. This turned out to be a big assist to me determining what went wrong.

On each of the restores of an image, the system never froze, not until I connected to the router by giving the proper passphrase, but usually after that. When it happened (I did multiple image restores) when I was in Safe Mode with Network as it was connecting, the implication was clear it was the WMP300N.

As luck would have it, I had another card taken out of my old computer. Put that card in and so far, he computer has NOT frozen up. I've restored all the deleted items and Windows Updates and all other Updates (Norton ISS, Flash, Adobe) and it is running fine.

Unknown IP Address Range On Router DHCP Client List

Nov 19, 2011

I keep getting some additional IP addresses logging onto my home network that have an address outside what should be allowed by the router. The server is running at 192.168.2.1 and is set to only allow clients from 192.168.2.2 - 192.168.2.10 so a total of 9 clients should be allowed on.The problem is that something keeps logging in with an address of 192.168.169.2 or 3 etc. Sometimes more than one device at a time.I have assumed that it is some automated or virtual client as I'm pretty certain my network has not been breached. I have a 9 character password with a relatively random alphanumeric combination, although I haven't tried changing the password (I live in a share house with with a bunch of devices using wireless, so I haven't yet bothered). What I don't understand is how it has connected with the xx.xx.169.xx range at all. I have a Belkin 'Share' Wireless N Modem Router and at some stage there was a 'guest' network but that has since been disabled and I still am seeing the extra address. I have attached a screen shot of the DHCP client list on the router.The following is a list of devices that may be on the network at times, I'm thinking one of these may be responsible for the problem:

Windows Vista Desktop - Only LAN device
PS3
Macbook
Epson wireless printer
Android HTC Desire Mobile Phone
Laptops running various Windows versions (XP, Vista and 7)

A few thoughts I had:

- the android phone is capable of running a wireless hotspot, may have to look into it to see if if has been operating as an access point into the Belkin router, but assumed this wouldn't bring up clients connected to the phone on the home router.

- The desktop has PS3 Media server installed to stream video to the PS3 over the network (not that I have ever managed to get it to work), however this is not ever open on the desktop.

Cisco :: Getting Mac-address-table Through SNMP On 1811

Jan 26, 2010

trying to fetch the equivalent of the mac-address-table on a 1811 with SNMP. I want a mapping between active MACs to a port ifIndex (not a VLAN interface ifIndex).

- I've snmpwalked every MIBs on this device (including all the proprietary MIBs supported by the IOS)

- I've upgraded to latest IOS from the 12.4(24)T series and also tried latest from 12.4(15)T series

- I am aware of the community index (@ sign in read-only community to split per vlan)

- I've exhausted all my google skills

On 29xx, 35xx, we obtain that information using the BRIDGE-MIB, community indexing and the following OID:

1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.2 (dot1dTpFdbPort)
ex:
# snmpwalk -v 2c -c public@1 192.168.1.61 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.4.3.1.2
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.4.3.1.2.0.23.89.208.164.62 = INTEGER: 24
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.4.3.1.2.0.23.101.255.67.177 = INTEGER: 12
SNMPv2-SMI::mib-2.17.4.3.1.2.0.24.25.113.78.52 = INTEGER: 11

D-Link DIR-655 :: How To Make Sure PC Only Use 1 Assigned IP Address

Feb 6, 2011

I have set up DHCP reservations to assigned IP addresses based on MAC address. I have to block my kids access at times, and when I do this they simply change their IP address and they circumvent the blocking.Other than punishing the kids (which hasn't worked  - and they need computers and Internet for homework), is there anyway to lock a computer to MAC address to IP address so if they change it they won't get network/internet access?I also tried to set up network filtering and I put in all the PCs and devices I wanted to provide access for, including the router, but when I save changes I can no longer access the internet or the router. I have to do factory reset to get back into router config.Also, I'm on 1.30WW. I know 1.34 exists, which I tried on a previous router which died and was replaced by RMA; but this didn't solve any problems.
