DLink DIR-655 Router Maxed Out On Allowed MAC Address?

Nov 30, 2011

I use a DLink DIR-655 router but it only allows around 24 MAC addresses to be specified in the filter list of ALLOWED MAC ADDRs. With a few laptops in the family, a game box, NAS, printer, e-readers, smart phones, I'm maxed out. Alternatively, could I daisy chain them to have one handle wireless devices only and another handle wired devices? If so, I could probably dealt with 24 max wireless MAC addresses specified for a while. If there's a better router out there that's not so limited, I'll upgrade.

SNMP Couldn't Make Router Restrict A Range Of Address Allowed To Use A Community

I have a XSR-1805 (Version 7.5.0.0) enterasys router here. Got SNMP server to work successfully. The thing is that I couldn't make the router restrict a range of address allowed to use a community. Only 10.1.0.13 is allowed to use SNMP in this case.

Cable Modem To DLink Router Can't Find IP Address

May 2, 2011

we were happily getting along with our RCN cable Motorola modem and DLink wireless 655 until the last couple of weeks. The internet would intermittently not be available, without warning. First couple of times we power cycled the modem and router, and it worked, but then stopped being available altogether. I got some support from RCN, the cable provider (they own the modem and it's old, so naturally that was my first thought). I now have a new modem and the situation is exactly the same. The error message that I get is that the IP address for the network cannot be found.

I got internet access by bypassing the router, connecting the modem directly to my (Windows XP) PC, releasing and renewing the IP address, and power cycling the modem. However, the internet still intermittently shuts down, and of course turning off the computer necessitates the whole procedure again. And now we have no wireless. Should we assume it's the router, and a new one would solve our problem? Of do we just need to reset the IP address of the router?

Cisco Firewall :: Maxed Out With ASA 5505

Jun 17, 2012

Looking at upgrading an ASA 5505 I've inherited.  Wondering what type of license(s) I need to get (or if I should look at a different solution) to "max it out"

So.. there are 8 switch ports.  I know I can create vlans, and assign vlans to individual switchports.  But can I fully use ALL 8 ports? and have 8 security segments? If I wanted to 'max out' the available subnets, would the following arrangement be feasible?

Port Level VLAN Name (Function)E0/0 o 1 outside (ISP)E0/1 100 100 inside (corp)E0/2 20 20 sec_logs (security management/logging)E0/3 30 30 dmz_prod (PRODUCTION DMZ)E0/4 40 40 guestaccess (Internet access for guests)E0/5 50 50 labnet_1 (test lab subnet)  E0/6 60 60 labnet_2 (test lab subnet)E0/7 70 70 labnet_3 (test lab subnet)

Finally, I'd really like (not NEED) to have this config with GigE ports vs FastE ports.  Money is not unlimited, but I do need to stay as low as possible (and still stay Cisco).. I'd love to see some maxed (or nearly so) sample configs (sanitized, of course).

Setting Up A Wireless Connection Is Not Allowed

Feb 13, 2013

I just moved into a university residence. Setting up a wireless connection is not allowed - instead we have one ethernet port on the wall. As a result, we can only have one computer connected to the internet at a time via this wired connection. The problem is, I live with my partner and we both need internet access for our separate computers. We both need to be online at the same time. What is the easiest and most simple way to accomplish this? I don't know much about hubs, routers, and switches. I imagine there should be some sort of basic splitting device I could plug into wall which would allow 2 computers to use the ethernet port.

Cannot Reset Dlink 615 Router

Jul 28, 2012

For reasons that are slowly pushing me over the edge of insanity, I have to reset this dumb router!!

I press the stupid little button on the back of it, the lights go out, one amber one comes on etc. etc. but when I go to 192.168.0.1, everything is still the same!!

Like the passwords are still there and nothing has changed! I thought resetting it was supposed to wipe all that stuff out so you could start from scratch? Also pulled the power cord in and out a zillion times but no way it will reset!

As an aside, I am having no end of problems getting my iPads (2) and iPhones (2) to connect to the wireless network! The "Network Discovery" button will not stay checked and though I have done all the Googling and been into Services to start things running, no way it is going to work!

But I digress, how do I get this fool of a router to reset properly?

I was able to establish that my computer is still able to access the Internet through wireless (which we don't often use on account of it been spotty).
