Cisco VPN :: VPN 3000 Setting Two Concentrators At Different Sites To Create Ipsec Tunnel

May 20, 2011

I'm currently setting up two VPN 3000 Concentrators at two different sites to create a IPsec LAN-to-LAN Tunnel. I have gone through all the basic configuration guides on the CISCO site, but a LAN-to-LAN session is never created. I have enabled the logs on the Concentrator and it displays no errors at all - it appears the Concentrator is not even trying to establish a IPsec LAN-to-LAN Tunnel. After running through the standard setup provided by CISCO, is there anything I need to do to make the Concentrator try to create a Tunnel, or should this be automatic once all settings are in place?

Cisco VPN :: 877 IPSec Tunnel With Dynamic IP Address

Aug 3, 2011

I'm having some trouble configuring 2 cisco routers (877) with ipsec vpn tunnel. The 2 of them are linked to the internet with dynamic adsl's - their ip-addresses changes all the time.when the configuration is based on ip addresses it's working ok, but when I'm trying to use host name with the DDNS feature, it's not coming up, I get a lot of errors...

I've searched google and various posts regarding that issue. It's seems like it's possible to do a dynamic-ip to dynamic-ip ipsec tunnel, but I found zero manuals and configuration.I've added the template that I'm using to configure the tunnel with ip addresses.

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5500 - IPSEC Tunnel Via Hostname Instead Of IP Address

Mar 1, 2012

Is it possible on an ASA 5500 device to connect an IPSEC tunnel via hostname instead of the IP address?  I have a site without a static IP address that is currently connected via Easy VPN but I want to change one of the sites to a regular IPSEC site to site as one side, the one with the dynamic IP, is being changed to SonicWALL.  I will have DDNS setup on the site with the SonicWALL so I want to know if I can point the ASA device to the hostname instead of the IP.

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5520 / Define Specific IKE Proposal For Specific L2L Tunnel?

May 24, 2011

ASA 5520 running 8.0.4
ASDM v.6.1

Need assistance understanding how in ASDM/Configuration/Site-to-Site VPN/Connection Profiles/ "Any Entry" I can specify that I only want to offer an IKE Proposal of pre-share-aes-256-sha?

The IKE Proposal field has a number of possible options including: pre-share-aes-256-md5, pre-share-3des-md5, pre-share-aes-256-sha, pre-share-aes-192-sha, pre-share-3des-md5, pre-share-aes-sha and pre-share-3des-sha.

I am able to pick a specific IPSec Proposal w/o issue but when I attempt to do the same for the IKE Proposal, and click OK the choice does not "stick" but rather returns to the entire list as defined above.

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5510 Maximum Tunnel Count Allowed

Apr 18, 2012

We have a ASA 5510 (v8.2.2 with ASDM 6..4.7, 256Mb mem) with a license for 250 VPN Peers. The machine has currently one site-to-site VPN active. I've added a remote-access IPSec VPN for some users but when connecting from the remote site the connection is dropped and the ASA reports %ASA-4-713239 Tunnel Rejected : The maximum tunnel count allowed has been reached.

I've searched for info relating to this message but I found none. Before I plan a restart (it's up for 222 days), is there something I could do on CLI to fix this ?

Cisco VPN :: 5520 Are RA IPSec And SSL VPN Ports Allowed By Default

Mar 27, 2013

We have set of PC's who will be connecting either RA IPsec or SSL VPN to another location. On our site, our perimeter device is an ASA 5520 8.2(3). The interfaces on this ASA doesn't have Access Lists applied, so from what I understand, there is a default policy applied globally (class-default). Now my question is: If we set up vpn clients on our pc, are the ports used by the clients to the VPN server allowed by default or do we need to tweak the class-default?

Cisco VPN :: ASA 5505 - Configure Allowed Bandwidth On IPSec Tunnels?

Oct 25, 2011

ASA 5505 8.2.1
ASA 5520 8.4

We currently have a tunnel configured between 2 ASAs

1-  Is it possible to assign 1.5 Mbits of Bandwidth(BW) to this tunnel?. Then if Tunnel number 2 is configured I could assign 2 Mbits to that one for example?

I am not referring to prioritizing certain type of traffic over the IPsec tunnel, I am referring to Tunnel 1 has 1.5 Mbits of BW guaranteed for all traffic that goes thru it. Same for tunnel 2

Then

2- How to monitor the amount of BW in an IPsec tunnel?

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5520 - IPSec Tunnel Without Private Network

Apr 11, 2013

I'm trying to achieve a site-to-site ipsec tunnel to a Cisco ASA 5520.  Most examples feature the ASA with a public interface that terminates the tuennel and a private network on another interface that the tunnel interacts with.  Where my scenario differs is that the interface that accepts the tunnel is part of a public /29 network where I want the remaining hosts on that subnet to be able to route thrugh to the other end of the tunnel.  My tunnel gets established, but any attempts to route via the IP assigned to that one interface result in the ASA rejecting traffic. If so, what configuration options should I consider?

Cisco Routers :: RVS4000 - IPSec VPN Tunnel / Cannot Ping From One Network To Other

Aug 5, 2011

I have a RVS4000 at one location and a second RVS4000 at home.  I have established an IPSec VPN tunnel between them and it is UP.  I can ping the routers from each end no problem.  I can ping  the IPs listed in the "Local Group Setup" and the "Remote Group Setup" from both ends no problem.  I can even open up a shared resource from a Win 7 machine (e.g. by typing \10.10.10.100 in start-run from a computer on my home network).

But - i can't ping anything else on one network from the other.  What gives?  I need to access a 10.10.10.101 machine but can't even ping it.

- both RVS4000 boxes have latest firmware (V1.3.3.5)
- home RVS4000 setup with IP 10.10.11.1
- home network has a server with IP 10.10.11.20
- other location RVS4000 setup with IP 10.10.10.1
- other location server setup with IP 10.10.10.100

Tunnel settings on home RVS4000 (the other location properly mirror these).

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5540 - 3000 Simultaneous IPsec Connections

May 15, 2013

We are planning to use an ASA 5540 to terminate about 3000 IPSec connections. The maximum supported IPsec VPN Peers for this platform ist 5000, so this should be ok in theory.

What is a bit unclear to me is what exactly happens when (for whatever reason) all 3000 clients try to connect at once ? Perhaps it's not at once but depending on timers this could mean 3000 incoming IPsec connection within 10-20 seconds.

Will the the ASA cope with it ? I can't find any info regarding this on CCO. It's also not that easy to test/simulate.

DLink DIR-655 Router Maxed Out On Allowed MAC Address?

Nov 30, 2011

I use a DLink DIR-655 router but it only allows around 24 MAC addresses to be specified in the filter list of ALLOWED MAC ADDRs. With a few laptops in the family, a game box, NAS, printer, e-readers, smart phones, I'm maxed out. Alternatively, could I daisy chain them to have one handle wireless devices only and another handle wired devices? If so, I could probably dealt with 24 max wireless MAC addresses specified for a while. If there's a better router out there that's not so limited, I'll upgrade.

Oct 29, 2012

Does ASA 8.4.3 check the source IP address of  a DNS reply and drop it if the reply address is different to that in the query?

Customers DNS server does this due to a recent change, their server now has a virtual address, but replies are sent from its physcial address. This is temporary. Their PIX is happy with this.

Replace the PIX with the ASA, DNS fails, the only reason I can see is due to the way their internal DNS operates.

I'm not a very technical person so I don't really understand all this network business.
