View 4 Replies View RelatedHaving some problems connecting up my "new" AP My current set-up consists of a Netgear "Virgin Superhub" cable modem/wireless router, a ZyXEL WRE2205 (repeater) in the hall on the first floor, and Ethernet connections through to a number of rooms, including the loft. I can't get wireless access in the loft, and I want to put the AP up there, connected through Ethernet. I want to use the same SSID and security for the AP as on the router and repeater so I can roam around(!) That's possible isn't it?What I've done so far (which hasn't worked) is connected via laptop to AP, set AP into AP mode(!), set the AP to dynamic IP, set the SSID / security the same as the router/repeater, plugged the AP into the Ethernet and tried to connect.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an existing wireless network using a Cisco/Linksys WRT400N wireless router (which in turn is connected to a cable internet provider). I need to extend my wireless coverage and so purchased a Cisco/Linksys E1000 to act as an additional access point. Purchased from BB, the local 'geek squad' rep instructed me to follow the users guide for the set up. After login into the admin service on my E1000, I followed the 'Advanced Routing' instructions and disabled the 'NAT' option and subsequently enabled the 'Dynamic Routing (RIP)' option. Everything worked like a charm to this point, but now I'm stuck. What steps do I need to follow to allow clients to log onto my wirelss network via the E1000 (secondary access point)? I've established WEP security keys on the WRT400N (primary access point) and want to use the same network security parameters on the E1000.

View 9 Replies View RelatedTo put it simply, my parents live far enough in the middle of nowhere that they have no access to high speed internet. Of course, there are always wireless solutions, but the options around here are pathetic and comparable to dialup. They were content with this; I moved back in with them for the time being and am not.y solution has been to dump just shy of $1,000 into a point-to-point wireless bridge setup that claims to have a range of 5 miles non-line-of-sight. I have one antenna set up four miles away on top of a building that has high speed internet.Unfortunately, I was a stupid fool and set that end up without enabling security, thinking that it wasn't a big deal. Nobody in that town has a mind for anything but farming and drinking. That was my mistake. Some asshole set a password and forced me to do a factory reset on the access point and now I can find no IP address. It's like it only reset halfway to factory defaults or something
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy set up is a 2wire router that connects to the internet, with an ethernet power plug connected to it. Over the other side of the house, I have the other ethernet power plug connected, with a Netgear router in access point mode. The main router is on 192.168.1.1, and the access point is on 192.168.1.3. The DCHP server is enabled on the main router with range 192.168.64 to 192.168.1.253. The access point has the DCHP server turned off. The routers have the same APN and security (WPA2-PSK).Also, the wireless channels don't overlap, channel 1 and 11.Now to my problem:The internet always works fine for a few days when the routers are turned on. But at some point between 1 to 3 days later, every computer can't obtain an IP address while connected to the access point. But all computers can connect to the main router (i.e. when closer to the main router than the access point), and then go near the access point and it keeps the connection. If I reboot the access point, then everything works again for a few days.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought a Linksys WAP610N today, i placed it so i could get a signal where i can't normally.
The thing is i configured it correctly, well at least i think, i can see it on my wireless network, with a good signal, but on my Android tablet (Google Nexus 7), it can't get past the "Obtaining IP address".
I called the technical support, the person there tried to assist me for about 1 hour, we tried different settings, we upgraded firmware from 1.0.01 to 1.0.04, but it didn't worked. Now he said someone will call me tomorrow during the afternoon.
My router isn't Linksys, it's a Netgear, i don't have wireless problem when i connect my tablets or any other wireless device on it, it's just that i bought this WAP610N to have the signal in my bedroom, where i don't get any signal normally.
Trying to setup secure net but when I type in the router IP Address, it shows Netgear, Type in printer IP address and it shows Linksys. How can I access my Linksys to make changes? I believe the Netgear shown is Comcast modem...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have changed from a DSL internet service to a Comcast cable system. I have setup my E4200v1 router as an Access Point, to extend coverage in my building. It works fine, but I can no longer log on to the unit using its' IP address 192.168.1.1. The browser returns the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." If I want to tweak the settings the only thing I can think to do is to push the reset plug, back to factory settings and go through the whole process. Is there a way to discover the new IP address of the reconfigured router? I left the default address as it was when I made the changes to AP status.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI reset my WAP54g v3.05 to factory default to allow an older computer access to my network.
Now I've reinstalled it for better security using my newer laptop: no SSID broadcast and encryption set for WPA2-personal. However, when I enable Mac filtering and permit my newer laptop, the WAP54g does not recognize it.
Disable Mac filtering and my laptop is back on the network.
When I change my WRT320N routers IP address to use it as an access point only and bring it in the IP range of my ccombined modem/router I'm not able to view the setup page via the new IP address. I have tried to change the IP from the default 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.178.2. After changing and applying the changes I restarted the router and tried to access the router via the new address. This was not possible am I doing something wrong or did I forgot something?

Is there a setting to increase that will allow longer time trying to obtain an IP?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a wrt54gs v7 and a wap54g v3.1. Both have latest firmware on them. I set the access point to act as a repeater and entered the mac address from the router (It said to use the lan mac address. is that right?). I have them set on same subnet with static ip addresses. They have same wireless ssid and password with one using channel 10 and the other using channel 2. I can receive an ip address from the router and connect to internet. I cannot get an ip address from the access point. I tried a static ip on the computer and it will connect, but I don't have internet. Am I missing something in the setup? Can this access point act as a repeater for this router?

View 13 Replies View RelatedDoes ASA 8.4.3 check the source IP address of a DNS reply and drop it if the reply address is different to that in the query?
Customers DNS server does this due to a recent change, their server now has a virtual address, but replies are sent from its physcial address. This is temporary. Their PIX is happy with this.
Replace the PIX with the ASA, DNS fails, the only reason I can see is due to the way their internal DNS operates.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network. My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1. My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems. The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.
I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390 but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.
The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.
