Cisco Firewall :: ASA 8.4 Newer Check Point Conversion Tool?
Feb 8, 2012
Is there a newer tool for current versions of Checkpoint to ASA 8.4? I notice a lot of similarity between checkpoint and 8.4 now, but I still have to do it all line by line which has become a PITA.
I have seen links out there for a conversion tool to convert commands on a Catalyst type switch (6509) to newer IOS type switches(4500-e) switches but they all error out on me on a 404. Any link where I can get this conversion tool?
I am working as a Network Administrator. Here I have to manage Cisco Switches 2960 and 4500 Series, Active Directory, Database Server, Exchange Server, File Servers, IP Telophony, Fortigate Firewall, 2960 Router, Wifi availability within Company. Although, in case of any disaster we will contact to vendor for solution, but the management told me to deploy any Software/Network Monitor which will facilitate to manage all this, i.e, overall network Health check, Performance Measurement, Fault Tolerance.
It is remote monitoring ASA, so I need to nat user networks (10.1.x.y, 10.2.x.y) to something that I can use (10.16.x.y, 10.17.x.y...)
Also, since it my device, I have them configure snmp and syslog server on client's network to use 192.168.1.1, so I have dynamic NAT for two SNMP servers and static NAT for one of them (which is syslog server).
create 8.4 version, so I can apply it? I tried few things, packet tracer shows that they are NATed, but I have only Denc packets, because hosts see request coming from my public IP...
i need to move from a pix 515e. V 6.3 to a asa v 8. From what ive read i can use the pix to asa tool to get the converted configuration file to the new asa. So far so good, however, the pix has conduits which i read must be converted via the occ tool. So i ran the pix to asa conversion then ran the occ tool on that output but i keep getting errors. It is not liking the nameif outside, inside, and dmz lines. If i manually edited them out before i run the occ tool it runs but warns there are no interfaces.
I am in the process of migrating a production firewall from PIX 6.3 to ASA 8.4(2). This is going to be a complete firewall rebuild and I will not be upgrading the configs because they have become out of date and very bloated. I am in the process of converting the NAT commands.[code] I am hoping these commands would be enough to replicate the previous functionality. I removed all the static identity NATs because NAT control is no longer in place so those rules are not required. Additionally I didn't re-create the rules that had NAT ID 0 or 1 because it didn't look like they were doing anything. correct way to do the static NAT commands at the bottom.
I would just like to double-check a point with the forum on licensing on 4710 Appliance. If with version 4.2 and above 2Gbps Bandwidth licence is required, the output of the sho license status should be?
I know that configuration in 8.2.x and 8.4.x is different in terms of NAT and object groups.
I just want to know is it possible to do a direct upgrade from 8.2.3 to 8.4.x ?Secondly, will ASA automatically convert all the configuration from 8.2 to 8.4 format during the reboot after the upgrade?
We have three Cisco ASA 5520 with 8.2 code in each tower. There are many configuration on the device hence we are using ip to Name to identify the naming conversion. Out of three one firewall naming conversion is not working, I mean after adding name for a IP it is not reflecting vpn tunnels or access lists or Nat config.
I am trying to migrate checkpoint configs to ASA 5585 using SCT tool, this tool asking me to feed it *.W file from checkpoint which is suppose to be a rule definition file on CP, but I cant find it
We are in the process of migrating to the ASA service modules on both our 6509E switches from our current FWSM. We have used the Cisco conversion tool and applied that to the service module. When viewing the context in ASDM we are unable to view the object names in the right hand pane.
On the FWSM I would see the following under Network Objects:
Network Objects - JQ-Test - JQ-Test2 - JQ-Test3
Network Object Group + JQ Group - JQ-Test - JQ-Test2 - JQ-Test3
Now I have run the conversion tool and applied that to the ASA's I now get the following results.
Network Objects - 10.1.1.1 - 10.2.2.2 - 10.3.3.3
Network Object Group + JQ Group - 10.1.1.1 - 10.2.2.2 - 10.3.3.3
I am aware that the naming convention on the ASA's are different to the FWSM as you can no longer use the "name 1.1.1.1 JQ-Test1" format but I was hoping that the conversion tool would do this for me.
Is there any way I can get the names of the object back without having to script something that takes the old FWSM format and convert it into an ASA format?
i know in Cisco PIX til 8.2 OS, if i have Nat control disabled and ACL permitting connection from Low Secirity ( DMZ ) to High Secuurity (INSIDE) then connectino should be successful, and i dont need any STATIC identity nat of inside IP to be created.
But i have Cisco PIX 525 with Version 7.2(2) Which is not allowing connection from DMZ to INSIDE , although nat control is disabled. and giving RFP check failure, any thought?
PIT525PIXINET# sh running-config nat-control no nat-cont
ASA running 8.2(5).When I enable ip spoofing on my network interfaces I see this getting logged:
Deny UDP reverse path check from 10.100.100.102 to 10.100.100.255 on interface SPECTRA-LAN
This is because interface SPECTRA-LAN (VLAN50) is the interface connected to the network with ip 10.100.100.0/24 but the interface do not have a ip address so it does not exist in the routing table I believe? However interface INTERN do also belong to network 10.100.100.0/24 which also is the management interface and the default route for hosts in network 10.100.100.0/24, but has no vlan.
1. move the management0/0 to SPECTRA-LAN and give SPECTRA-LAN ip 10.100.100.1?
2. give SPECTRA-LAN a ip address in the 10.100.100.0 range?
My routing table and interface list is:
Current available interface(s): DATA-BACKUP Name of interface Redundant1.10 DMZ Name of interface Redundant1.900 GUEST Name of interface Redundant1.990 HOSTING Name of interface Redundant1.100 Infrastruktur Name of interface Redundant1.20
Does ASA 8.4.3 check the source IP address of a DNS reply and drop it if the reply address is different to that in the query?
Customers DNS server does this due to a recent change, their server now has a virtual address, but replies are sent from its physcial address. This is temporary. Their PIX is happy with this.
Replace the PIX with the ASA, DNS fails, the only reason I can see is due to the way their internal DNS operates.
i allowed one of internal ip using static nat and public ip is 203.18.137.22 and i want to check which IP are hit this public ip ?Is there is any command to check which ip is hitting 203.18.137.22? I have the cisco 5520 asa firewall.
When we setup a connection between two hosts we receive the message "TCP checksum incorrect" , This is between a settop box on the outside and a server inside the firewall. This STB used to communicate with the server on port 443 which is NAT-en to port 12697.With a new settop box image which uses on the inside and outside port 12697 we receive this TCP checksum incorrect on the Firewall with wireshark.
Strange is that on the outside of the firewall we see an MSS of 1460 and on the inside it is 1380 (don't know if there is a relation with this and the issue we have)
I am looking for for details meaning of license because I cannot found the details install. The license call
FLASR1-FW-RTU(=)
that is used to enable the firewall function in ASR 1000 series. But I don't clear about what feature inside, it is because it only show the "firewall" from website. Is that same as IOS firewall?
I current have 20 x cisco AP 1142 with WLC 4400 series, I'm looking for newer/latest Cisco AP for expansion. I was looking at Cisco 3500 series but not sure how good/flexible they are when comparing to 1142 and other AP series.
