Linksys Access Point :: WAP54-G V1 Accepts Domain Name In Ssid

Jan 24, 2011

I set up an older WAP54-G v1.1, it would not work effectively on the network, so I checked and its firmware had never been updated ( still using v 1.09) I updated it to the newest firmware today. It worked better and finally would accept changes in the SSID  field. I changed and it immediatly accepted and started to broadcast appropriately, as I was planning to put a few more of these up around the school  I changed its IP to 192,168,1,246 it immediatly crashed and would not allow me to see it on the browser. After sometime I simply reset it and reconfigured it again. Now it has changed in the SSID field but when a wireless device reads it the ntwork is note detected, however an open linksys system is. you can join it and go to the internet, but not the network.

Sometimes it lets me see controls and other times not, when it does not work, powering cycling it seems to make it is able to be seen.

Linksys Access Point :: Difference Between Wumc710 And Netgear R6300

Feb 16, 2013

I´ve recently purchased a Netgear r6300 and a wifi ac bridge (Linksys wumc710) When hooking up my Readynas Pro to the r6300 via the wumc710 I only get transfer rates at max 8MB/s. That´s not very impressive, and even with the bridge located within 10 feet of the router, no walls in between. What am I doing wrong? I´ve set the MTU on the Readynas and the r6300 to 1500.When doing a wired test between the r6300 and the Readynas Pro I can copy a file from the Nas to desktop at approx 80-100MB/s, but with wireless ac via the wumc710 only at 4-8MB/s.

Linksys Access Point :: Configuring WAP54G With Existing Netgear Wireless?

Apr 26, 2013

Having some problems connecting up my "new" AP My current set-up consists of a Netgear "Virgin Superhub" cable modem/wireless router, a ZyXEL WRE2205 (repeater) in the hall on the first floor, and Ethernet connections through to a number of rooms, including the loft. I can't get wireless access in the loft, and I want to put the AP up there, connected through Ethernet. I want to use the same SSID and security for the AP as on the router and repeater so I can roam around(!) That's possible isn't it?What I've done so far (which hasn't worked) is connected via laptop to AP, set AP into AP mode(!), set the AP to dynamic IP, set the SSID / security the same as the router/repeater, plugged the AP into the Ethernet and tried to connect.

Linksys Access Point :: WAP610N - Unable To Obtain IP Address

Dec 14, 2012

I bought a Linksys WAP610N today, i placed it so i could get a signal where i can't normally.

The thing is i configured it correctly, well at least i think, i can see it on my wireless network, with a good signal, but on my Android tablet (Google Nexus 7), it can't get past the "Obtaining IP address".

I called the technical support, the person there tried to assist me for about 1 hour, we tried different settings, we upgraded firmware from 1.0.01 to 1.0.04, but it didn't worked. Now he said someone will call me tomorrow during the afternoon.

My router isn't Linksys, it's a Netgear, i don't have wireless problem when i connect my tablets or any other wireless device on it, it's just that i bought this WAP610N to have the signal in my bedroom, where i don't get any signal normally.

Linksys Access Point :: E4200 Discover New IP Address Of Reconfigured Router

Feb 14, 2013

I have changed from a DSL internet service to a Comcast cable system.   I have setup my E4200v1 router as an Access Point, to extend coverage in my building.  It works fine, but I can no longer log on to  the unit using its'  IP address 192.168.1.1.  The browser returns the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."   If I want to tweak the settings the only thing I can think to do is to push the reset plug, back to factory settings and go through the whole process.   Is there a way to discover the new IP address of the reconfigured router?  I left the default address as it was when I made the changes to AP status.

Linksys Access Point :: WAP54g Doesn't Recognize Laptop's IP Address?

Jan 9, 2012

I reset my WAP54g v3.05 to factory default to allow an older computer access to my network.

Now I've reinstalled it for better security using my newer laptop: no SSID broadcast and encryption set for WPA2-personal. However, when I enable Mac filtering and permit my newer laptop, the WAP54g does not recognize it.

Disable Mac filtering and my laptop is back on the network.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Change WRT320N IP Address To Use It As An Access Point?

Oct 9, 2011

When I change my WRT320N routers IP address to use it as an access point only and bring it in the IP range of my ccombined modem/router I'm not able to view the setup page via the new IP address. I have tried to change the IP from the default 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.178.2. After changing and applying the changes I restarted the router and tried to access the router via the new address. This was not possible am I doing something wrong or did I forgot something?

Linksys Access Point :: E2500 Obtaining IP Address Timing Out While Connecting

Dec 5, 2011

I have a E2500 router and 3 WAP610N access points.  Users are having a difficult time connecting to the AP's.  The client device just sits there trying to obtain an IP and then times out.  If they get within range of the actual wireless router, then connect instantly.  Is there a setting to increase that will allow longer time trying to obtain an IP?

I am using the same SSID for roaming, but am using different channels (1, 6, 11) for the overlap.  See diagram below.  Not sure if this has some impact?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Wrt54gs V7 And A Wap54g V3.1 - Unable To Get IP Address From Access Point

Mar 1, 2012

I have a wrt54gs v7 and a wap54g v3.1.  Both have latest firmware on them.  I set the access point to act as a repeater and entered the mac address from the router (It said to use the lan mac address.  is that right?).  I have them set on same subnet with static ip addresses.  They have same wireless ssid and password with one using channel 10 and the other using channel 2.  I can receive an ip address from the router and connect to internet.  I cannot get an ip address from the access point.  I tried a static ip on the computer and it will connect, but I don't have internet.  Am I missing something in the setup?  Can this access point act as a repeater for this router?

Linksys Access Point :: Connect And Configure WAP54G Access Point To New Cable Modem?

Nov 1, 2012

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.

Linksys Access Point :: WRT54G - Unable To Find Access Point In Home Network

Aug 29, 2009

I just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network. My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1.  My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems. The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.

I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390  but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold  from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.

The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.

Using Wireless Access Point With Netgear VMDG480?

Jan 10, 2013

I have a Virgin Media Netgear VMDG480 broadband modem/router. Whilst the Ethernet performance is strong the Wifi signal strength is weak and only provides signal to half of my house. I've seen various comments on other forums that this is a common problem for this device. To overcome this I propose to install a Wireless Access Point at the far end of the house and connect this to the VMDG480 via powerlink. (I already use this powerlink connect to a PC at the far side of the house and this works really well.)

My concerns are:

1. Will the VMDG480 recognise the Wireless Access Point? I've seen some comments that suggest that this may be a problem.

2. Is there any specific type of Wireless Access Point that I should use to ensure compatibility with the VMDG480?

3. Is the use of a Wireless Access Point across powerlink a sensible approach?

4. An alternative approach is to use a Wireless Range Extender. Is this a better approach? If yes should I use a Netgear device to ensure compatibility?

Netgear DG834GT ADSL - Use Access Point And Router?

Feb 23, 2011

I have a weird problem with my network setup. I have a netgear DG834GT ADSL router which runs fine with my Belkin 51B64C wireless router but when I enable "Use as Access Point" in order for me to see my wireless laptops connected to it the internet performance goes bad, the traffic cuts out momentarily for about 7 seconds at a time, its pretty difficult to surf the net having to wait. The setup is as follows:

Netgear
Gateway IP: 10.0.0.1
Subnet Msk: 255.255.255.0
DHCP Enabled

Belkin
Gateway IP: 10.0.0.9
Subnet Msk: 255.255.255.0
DHCP Enabled

as I said above the reason I enable "Use As Access Point" is so I can see the devices in Explorer for file sharing. Is there a way I can use port forwarding on the router to see the devices it would solve the performance problem.

Linksys Access Point :: WAP54G Access Point Unable To Connect To More Than One PC?

Apr 25, 2011

I've got a AP WAP54G. I've managed to get into the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.

The issue I'm facing is that when me and my roomate try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects second as one that has 'limited connectivity' and hence cannot use the internet. The 1st laptop however works fine!
The settings for the router have all been left to default.

I'm not sure, but does this problem have anything to do with the fact that the router in configured with a static IP. If so, then there is another issure which is that whenever I try to change it from static to automatic/dynamic IP, the page fails and the router doesn't even get connected to the configuraion page(192.168.1.245) after that. The only way to get that page again is the reset the router.

Also I'm not able to directly get into the config page when I connect my router to my laptop via lan. I need to change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.x where x is >1.

Setup 3600HGV As Modem Only / Have Netgear DGN3500 As Wireless Access Point

a) the 3600HGV has no Gigabit switch and runs on wireless G

b) the DGN 3500 has a Gigabit switch and does wireless N. So in a nutshell I want the 3600 as simple modem and the 3500 as a wireless N access point with Gigabit switch.
