Linksys Access Point :: WAP54-G V1 Accepts Domain Name In Ssid
Jan 24, 2011
I set up an older WAP54-G v1.1, it would not work effectively on the network, so I checked and its firmware had never been updated ( still using v 1.09) I updated it to the newest firmware today. It worked better and finally would accept changes in the SSID field. I changed and it immediatly accepted and started to broadcast appropriately, as I was planning to put a few more of these up around the school I changed its IP to 192,168,1,246 it immediatly crashed and would not allow me to see it on the browser. After sometime I simply reset it and reconfigured it again. Now it has changed in the SSID field but when a wireless device reads it the ntwork is note detected, however an open linksys system is. you can join it and go to the internet, but not the network.
Sometimes it lets me see controls and other times not, when it does not work, powering cycling it seems to make it is able to be seen.
Trying to setup secure net but when I type in the router IP Address, it shows Netgear, Type in printer IP address and it shows Linksys. How can I access my Linksys to make changes? I believe the Netgear shown is Comcast modem...
I have two WAP200's code level version 2.0.4.0 connected to two SFE2000 24port, one switch per building. I have 3 vlans that I want to bridge between those two switches. I know the trunks on the switch are setup correctly because I can connect them directly and test all vlans.
I am able to get the untagged Vlan 1 to work fine with the bridge, but I have issues with the tagged Vlans 2 and 3. I have checked that I have the correct SSID tied to the correct Vlan number. I cause the whole network to lock up when I try to add the other SSID MAC addresses to the AP Mode -> AP Mode -> Wireless Bridge -> "Remote Wireless Bridge's MAC Addresses:" section. The wireless lights and ethernet lights go solid.Should I be adding the additional MACs there?
I reset the wap610N,after establishing connection, my iphone see my network domain but does not connect. I heard of dual band setting, how do i go about that. What must i do to establish connection with the iphone.
i live in a two story townhouse. under the stairs, there is a small closet where the modem and router are. there are also three ethernet ports, one that leads to each of the bedrooms. However, the only one that is being used is my room (my roommates dont need ethernet) so what i decided to do was run the ethernet port from the modem directly to my room and then connect the router to it using the ethernet port in my room. (my room is upstairs)
Now, this setup works great for me. I can connect my HD to the Airport and my printer via ethernet and my desktop as well. BUT ever since i moved the router upstairs to my room, the internet has been EXTREMELY slow downstairs
so this is what i was thinking, I want to get another wireless router and put it downstairs where the modem is, and use my airport Extreme as the "second" router. But, i want to use a different SSID for my airport extreme. is this possible?
I was thinking to connect the new router downstairs like normal, and disable the DHCP server on the airport extreme and change the IP address to make sure it isnt the same as the new router, then connect the new router to one of the three ethernet ports on my airport extreme.
Is that the correct way to set it up? and if i do that, would i be able to connect all my devices without a problem? (in addition to the devices mentioned earlier, i also have a second printer, a PS3, a home entertainment system, and sometimes my laptop, all connected to the airport via an ethernet switch) and lastly, will I be able to access the internet without a problem? will this slow down the internet that i get?
the reason i want to do this is because 1) I dont want any of my roommates or their guests to access my hard drive (i know, i can put a password on it. but still) and 2) if my printers are on the same network as their computers, they like to "accidentally" wirelessly print to my printers. I want to avoid that because they print. alot.
i have one buffalo aoss accesspoint and i already create an ssid which is cfl. but now iwant to change my ssid as cflho. and i try to change it .but it is not update i save and reboot the device after changing the ssid
I'm wondering if there is an easy way to change the regulatory domain on a lightweight access point. The reason I'm asking is someone accidentally placed an order for AIR-CAP3502I-N-K9 access points instead of the AIR-CAP3502I-A-K9 flavored ones. I can see how it happened, since undoubtedly someone asked for the "N" access points, thinking 802.11n, and the other person was thinking AIR-CAP3502I-"N"-K9.
do I have to RMA them, or is there a way to magically turn them into the ones flavored for the Americas?
We have an autonomous AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 AP with software release version 12.4(25d)JA1. The access point is configured and an SSID is broadcasted. However when users are trying to connect to the AP, authentication seems to be accepted but users are not connected. I suspected the issue in DHCP but even on static IP the user is not connected.I dont believe any LAN issue is there cause I connected a PC to the same interface where the AP is connected and it took an IP from the required VLAN (1234) [code]
i've been looking for a way to isolate clients on a Cisco Aironet 1121 on a certain SSID, and i cant find anything, tried pretty much everything i coudl remember, but since im no expert on Cisco wireless.

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.
I just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network. My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1. My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems. The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.
I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390 but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.
The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.
I have a WAP54g hardware version 1.0.I install de last firmware on this access-point but, this access-point reset automatic after a random time..It’s it possible to downgrade de firmware from this access-point?
Have a WRT320N router at one end of the house in the basement. Would like to boost signal to other end of the house. Which product should i use, an access point or a range extender? My house is also wired with Ethernet cable and I could plug the access point into an Ethernet port at the end of the house where the signal is weak.
I've got a AP WAP54G. I've managed to get into the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.
The issue I'm facing is that when me and my roomate try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects second as one that has 'limited connectivity' and hence cannot use the internet. The 1st laptop however works fine! The settings for the router have all been left to default.
I'm not sure, but does this problem have anything to do with the fact that the router in configured with a static IP. If so, then there is another issure which is that whenever I try to change it from static to automatic/dynamic IP, the page fails and the router doesn't even get connected to the configuraion page(192.168.1.245) after that. The only way to get that page again is the reset the router.
Also I'm not able to directly get into the config page when I connect my router to my laptop via lan. I need to change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.x where x is >1.
What I want to do is the opposite of most configurations. I live on a small island with only one DSL connection. The modem is wired connected to a WAP54G Access point. To extend this access point want to use a WRT54G.
I'm using a WRT120N and have had no problems connecting most wireless devices, but a Nintendo DS and DSi owned by my family are unable to connect to the access point. My wireless security mode is disabled, network mode is set to mixed, SSID is the same as on the DS/DSi, Channel width is 20Mhz only, Standard channel is set to 6, but I tried using channel 1 and 11 without success, SSID broadcast is enabled.
I've tried every work-about I could find and always get the 51300 error code, and am at a loss as to what else I can try to get the devices to connect to the access point.
I have 3 E3000 Routers and would quality input regarding using 1 of the E3000 Routers connected to my Broadband Modem (Roadrunner) and would like to know how to configure the remaining 2 E3000 Routers to be hardwired to my main Router as Access Points located approximate segmented 1/3rd areas throughout my house which really is only 1800 Sq.Ft. in area. How to be configure these routers as access points as well as configuring the main router that will be connected to my broadband router. This is my first network to utilize streaming video, Internet Television Programs, Internet Radio, Accessing the Internet in all rooms of my house and outside the immediate adjacent patio area.
I have tried to find mib for my Linksys WAP54G acces point without succeed. Any body know how I could find it?? I want to program a software based on SNMP protocol. Is there some databses for mibs?
My E4200 router no longer accepts any WIRED connections. I can connect from the modem to the computer and everything works as expected. I can connect other computers wirelessly to the router. I cannot connect any laptops WIRED to the router. Nothing has changed on the systems to restrict internet access. There is something wrong with the router and the WIRED ports. I tried going through the troubleshooting on this site but it was of little to no assistance. The Cisco Connect utility doesn't appear to accomplish anything either. My guess is because I cannot connect to the WIRED ports on the router to connect to the internet to allow for whatever troubleshooting that needs to be done.
The internet went out and when it came back on I tried to reconnect to the internet. Our connection is secured so when it prompted for the passcode I typed the passcode in on the box and it did not accept the passcode.I do not know what to do now.I tried unpluggin it and restarting the motorola box and it didn't work.
How would I bridge a wireless connection with a distance of 400 feet? Would twoAP1262N-A-K9 be able to make this happen? Or is there another wireless bridge that you all can think of?I would be connecting one AP1262 of off a 3750g switch and at the far end (400 ft aproximately) another AP1262N-A-K9.
I had a new AIR-AP1042N-N-K9 access point and I tried to convert it into lightweight mode with the image c1140-rcvk9w8-tar.124-21a.JA2.tar . I used all the methods but the AP is getting hanged at one position after decompressing the new IOS. The capture of the process is below: [code] After this I am getting the junk characters and everytime AP hangs at this position.
I am trying to find an effective way to extend the wireless signal across our home. I have tried various different solutions. Currently, I have an e4200 primary router that is cascaded with two additional e1500 routers that have been configured as access points. The Linksys support team hosted my computer and configured the devices. The e1500 routers are connected via ethernet wires running through the walls. And, this seems to be working well. Here's my question. The e1500 routers are configured with different SSID names, which Linksys advised was required to avoid conflicts in communications from the three router devices. Is there any way to configure this set up or something similar so that the entire wireless network has the same SSID and is seamless. In the current configuration, I have to specifically connect to the primary router or one of the two access points.
My network is such that I want to extend the signal of the GUEST account. I have a WAP54G set up for that purpose and am getting a very strong signal. I can access the main network, but not the Guest, I cannot even see the GUEST access. Any setting change that needs to be made that will allow me to access the GUEST account from the Access Point?
I just tried to upgrade the firmware of my WAP54G to the most recent version; however, I got a message on web browser with legend "Update fail" and then I lost the communication with device. Now, I just goty Power and Link LED's, but nothing on Act (green led, indicator of WiFi),I tried to reset using button, and to connect via LAN, but setup wizard is unable to locate the device.
I have seen 5-port network switches (for home network use)for sale that list CAT5 and CAT5e as the cabling. My question is, can CAT6 cable be used with these switches without performance issues?
