View 1 RepliesI have a router TP-Link (without wireless) connected in my modem wich have this subnet : 192.168.0.*, that work fine. But I need a wireless connection too, my wireless router had this ip given by the TP-Link router: 192.168.0.13.
I have a NETGEAR WIRELESS-G ROUTER WGR614 which gain 192.168.0.13 but I need that gives ip's in the same subnet that TP link router. If the person connect to my wi-fi it should receive an ip like 192.168.0.*, I already try to disable the DHCP server in the NETGEAR but it's not working too. How can I do that ?
i am trying to connect my netgear wgr614 v7 wireless router and i can't do it. i have the actiontec m1000 modem which is thru qwest i have read the setup manual available online on how to setup the modem with the router but it just doesnt do anything?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup my network in my home, so that I can extend the wireless signal from my main router by using an access point (a tenda w311r+).But, I want to do it so that the access point isn't connected to the main router with a cable, I want it to be connected to the main router wirelessly. It does say on the box that it can 'bridge' multiple wireless routers.
The access point I have also has 4 ethernet ports on it, so I will use one of these to plug my xbox 360 into.I also want the main router to be responsible for the DHCP.
can i use a netgear wg602 access point to connect my xbox 360 to my home network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought a DGND3700, but can't get wifi working. It connects to the internet fine, but devices can only connect via ethernet cable. I can see the SSIDs - both 2.4GHz and 5GHz - but whenever I try to connect, after entering the password I'm told that "Windows was unable to connect to (SSID)". Of course, the Windows troubleshooter, but no luck. This problem happens across all my PCs and phones. The router has the latest firmware version. All blocking, access control, etc. settings are turned off.

p.s. the router is a Netgear model # WGR614
I need to replace my Netgear WGR614 v6 router which is a good 4 or 5 years old, and i think is the cause of a very slow internet connection. Download speeds are reaching 1.1mb/s but browsing on the internet is unbelievably slow and fails to load pages most of the time saying the DNS look-up failed. I was thinking of purchasing the Buffalo Wireless-N300 Cable Router. I'm with Virgin Media, i think on 10meg broadband. I think it will support moving from wireless G to wireless N, but my laptop is fairly old too - Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook C series.

It appears that whenever the netbook is on the network, the other two laptops lose connectivity. The wired machines are fine. Power cycling the router and rebooting usually solves the problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a brand new Sony Vaio laptop VPCEH2. I have tried to connect wirelessly to my Netgear router (DG934G). The router and broadband is supplied by Sky. The laptop is running Windows 7. The router is sending a wireless sending fine to our desktop and two smartphones but the Vaio is unable to connect.
The Vaio finds the signal which is says is excellent but does not connect. Using an ethernet cable the internet connection is fine. I have been on the phone to Sky for nearly 2 hours across two nights and they have given up. We have tried setting up a new router password, disconnecting and reconnecting, establishing a connection in the Network and Sharing Cente using WPA security with no joy. I asked them if the router needed a firmware upgrade for Windows 7 and they were adamant that it did not - the firmware version is currently V2.02.44. I have checked the Windows 7 compatibility listings for Netgear routers but couldn't find the DG934G (or the DG834GT - which I believe is a newer version), listed.
The funny thing is that when Sky create a wireless connection in the sharing centre is did work for around 30 seconds where I was able to access around 5/6 webpages. The browser then stopped working and the connection was lost (with yellow warning triangle across the signal to bottom right of screen). Another thing to note was that Sky originally blamed the fault on a McAfee update. I looked into this and deinstalled McAfee and even spoke to them for a while and they confirmed that it had deinstalled and did some other tests and said it was definitely not their software causing the problem.
I've two routers, one which i got from BSNL when opted for internet connection. Its a Utstartcom Type II wireless modem and the other which i got from a friend is Netgear WGR614 wireless modem/router.Now coming to the real picture. I've the BSNL wireless modem connected and working perfectly on the 3rd floor on one PC, but NOT configured for wireless access and i've another PC on Ground Floor where i need an internet connection. Fortunately, i got a router/modem which is Netgear WGR614. I do not want a wired connection between these two PCs then wanted to try the wireless way?

However, i can connect to it through wired connection. Others in my apartment can connect to the router. They dont have windows 7 (they use vista, ubuntu). Its working fine for them. View 1 Replies View RelatedI couldn't connect wirelessly to my NETGEAR router because of the "DNS server isn't responding" error.I then eventually made the rather dumb mistake of doing a factory reset, so now the router isn't even in range apparently Therefore I connected to the router with a wired connection and after a "Investigate router or broadband modem issues" error I eventually came to the error in the title.Currently I'm connected directly via my virgin modem with a wired connection, so this is my means of creating this thread.
Below is what i got from ipconfig /all using a wired connection to my router.

One technician said that this is the providers problem, but I don't think so. When I restart the modem everything works.I have a Netgear WGR614 v9 router.I use ESET 5 security. Btw, connection drops on all computers connected through the router, so it's not my firewall.
I bought a tp-link WA701ND and a netgear WGR614. i wish to pick up signal using 701 and then let 614 repeat it. no more tech support coz im already broke.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'll try and keep this brief, we were having problems with our netgear router (DGN1000) mainly with connection when online gaming with PS3, generally poor connection - so purchased a TP-Link router (TD-W8960N). We could usually access the netgear wirelessly on our laptops Dell and Acer Aspire 4820T (both Windows 7) without any problems and were still doing so last night. However hubby attempted to install the new router last night and all seemed to go fine but after installing we couldn't connect to the wireless network through laptops, iphone ps3 etc - even though we could see the network with excellent strength, after hours of trying called TP-Link they went through everything they could think of and still no joy. Gave up in the end and went to reinstall the netgear Router and now we have the same problem with this router, even though earlier in the night it wasn't a problem - we deleted the previous networks so there was nothing stored in memory & tried everything we can think of (although neither of us are brilliant with IT we do usually get by).We even set up an unsecured wireless network (on both routers) and still couldn't connect?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a AP WAP54G. I've managed to get into the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.
The issue I'm facing is that when me and my roomate try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects second as one that has 'limited connectivity' and hence cannot use the internet. The 1st laptop however works fine!
The settings for the router have all been left to default.
I'm not sure, but does this problem have anything to do with the fact that the router in configured with a static IP. If so, then there is another issure which is that whenever I try to change it from static to automatic/dynamic IP, the page fails and the router doesn't even get connected to the configuraion page(192.168.1.245) after that. The only way to get that page again is the reset the router.
Also I'm not able to directly get into the config page when I connect my router to my laptop via lan. I need to change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.x where x is >1.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Virgin Media Netgear VMDG480 broadband modem/router. Whilst the Ethernet performance is strong the Wifi signal strength is weak and only provides signal to half of my house. I've seen various comments on other forums that this is a common problem for this device. To overcome this I propose to install a Wireless Access Point at the far end of the house and connect this to the VMDG480 via powerlink. (I already use this powerlink connect to a PC at the far side of the house and this works really well.)
My concerns are:
1. Will the VMDG480 recognise the Wireless Access Point? I've seen some comments that suggest that this may be a problem.
2. Is there any specific type of Wireless Access Point that I should use to ensure compatibility with the VMDG480?
3. Is the use of a Wireless Access Point across powerlink a sensible approach?
4. An alternative approach is to use a Wireless Range Extender. Is this a better approach? If yes should I use a Netgear device to ensure compatibility?
I have tried to set up a wireless access point using an old Netgear DG384G router as the access point. This is connected by wire to a Buffalo WBMR-G54 wireless router.I have switched off DHCP and set a static IP of 198.168.11.99 on the netgear and it is using WPA-PSK security. Buffalo is on channel 6 and on WEP, Netgear channel 11.All was working fine, could connect on laptop, Ipad and iphone all working ok and then suddenly at about 6.00PM the connection became very slow (Last 2 Nights)Tried rebboting router, switched off security and no difference.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem with my network setup. I have a netgear DG834GT ADSL router which runs fine with my Belkin 51B64C wireless router but when I enable "Use as Access Point" in order for me to see my wireless laptops connected to it the internet performance goes bad, the traffic cuts out momentarily for about 7 seconds at a time, its pretty difficult to surf the net having to wait. The setup is as follows:
Netgear
Gateway IP: 10.0.0.1
Subnet Msk: 255.255.255.0
DHCP Enabled
Belkin
Gateway IP: 10.0.0.9
Subnet Msk: 255.255.255.0
DHCP Enabled
as I said above the reason I enable "Use As Access Point" is so I can see the devices in Explorer for file sharing. Is there a way I can use port forwarding on the router to see the devices it would solve the performance problem.
