i am trying to connect my netgear wgr614 v7 wireless router and i can't do it. i have the actiontec m1000 modem which is thru qwest i have read the setup manual available online on how to setup the modem with the router but it just doesnt do anything?

Download speeds are reaching 1.1mb/s but browsing on the internet is unbelievably slow and fails to load pages most of the time saying the DNS look-up failed. I was thinking of purchasing the Buffalo Wireless-N300 Cable Router. I'm with Virgin Media, i think on 10meg broadband. One technician said that this is the providers problem, but I don't think so. When I restart the modem everything works.I have a Netgear WGR614 v9 router.I use ESET 5 security. Btw, connection drops on all computers connected through the router, so it's not my firewall.
At my office we have a simple network using a Netgear WGR614 V7 router. 4 XP machines are connected via Ethernet cable and three other people are connected wirelessly (one XP laptop, one Win7 laptop and one Win 7 netbook). It appears that whenever the netbook is on the network, the other two laptops lose connectivity. The wired machines are fine. Power cycling the router and rebooting usually solves the problem.

The laptop is accessing the internet when I have it connected to my modem via Cat 5 Patch cable.When I detach the cable from the laptop and modem, it doesn't connect to the internet. I couldn't connect wirelessly to my NETGEAR router because of the "DNS server isn't responding" error.I then eventually made the rather dumb mistake of doing a factory reset, so now the router isn't even in range apparently Therefore I connected to the router with a wired connection and after a "Investigate router or broadband modem issues" error I eventually came to the error in the title.Currently I'm connected directly via my virgin modem with a wired connection, so this is my means of creating this thread.

I am using a netgear wgr614 router and the laptop I'm trying to use won't connect. It shows up as available but 'Windows was unable to connect to NETGEAR' pops up. Futher troubleshooting brings up "Investigate router or access point issues" but turning off the router did not fix the problem.

I have a wgr614 V6 router, yes its old. I had 3 devices connected to it just fine before without any issues. But now It only allows my laptop, when I try to connect with my ipod touch or desktop, not only does it fail, the entire network crashes and my laptop loses it and its gone. It then takes about 2 minutes to come back up. So whenever I attempt to connect with another device the network crashes. so right now only my laptop is connected.I downloaded & updated to the newest firmware, did not work.I tried resetting the router, and made the network all over again, did NOT work.

My wireless only works sometimes if I reset the router every once and a while. Even then it will connect properly with my computer for two days tops. The wireless works on the other computers in the house, just not mine. I've checked all of the wireless settings to make sure they match correctly to the network .

The Zyxel modem connects to my NETGEAR router. When I play online either wireless or wired from the Netgear modem I have major connection issue.However, if I disconnect from the netgear modem and connect from the Zyxel directly to the ps3 I have zero problems.

I don't know if this is a common problem but I cannot seem to find it on the web and thought I would ask here. The problem seems to only happen after someone restarts their computer.
What happens is 9/10 times on startup the internet will connect just fine but the 10% of the time it will say "Unable to connect to Shaun" (my wireless router) Sometimes if we restart the computer it will fix itself but usually we have to reset the router and it will fix itself and wont happen again for another couple of weeks.
I called comcast about it and their tech support said it was a router issue, that's when I put in my newer one (the rangemax) and its still happening. We even upgraded the comcast modem recently too, and since it fixes itself when I reset the router I don't doubt its the router.
I can't seem to update the firmware on it, not sure if that will work. (It says not enough memory to complete) Should I buy a new router?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an E2500 router. I have until now been using a Netgear DG834G v5.
I have tried multiple times but my success has been limited. I turned off DHCP in the Netgear, set the isp login question to no, and set it into bridge mode. I managed to use Cisco Connect to connect the Netgear and the E2500, but there was no internet.
I logged into the E2500 and entered by ISP details in the PPPOE section. I went to status and clicked connect, but a message would eventually pop up saying that an IP address could not be found. In the Netgear I could set up VPI and VCI etc manually, but can't find those settings in the E2500. My ISP also requires a dynamic IP - does this mean that DHCP must be off in both the Netgear and the E2500?
I factory reset the E2500 and tried Cisco Connect again, but it said that it couldn't find the device.
I would like to connect a WRT54GS to a Netgear FVS318 router to proivde wireless access to my network. My current setup has my DSL modem connected to the FVS318 to provide my network computer with wired internet access. Can I simply connect the WRT54GS to the FVS318 using the LAN port? I've read other threads that mentioned changing the WRT ip address to 192.168.0.150 and disabling DHCP. i've don'e both, but I still don't get wireless access. My wireless devices can connect, but they don't have internet access. I have some questions below:
1. In the WRT setup, what do I use for the Internet connection type? Since my Netgear has that information already, do I need to put anything here?
2. In Setup -> Advanced Routing, do I neet to change the operating mode to Router?
3. Any other configuration changes that I need to do?
I had a Linksys WRT54G Router with a Netgear GS116 Switch and everything worked great. Upgraded to a new Linksys E4200 Router for faster wiress, default settings, and it won't connect to my switch, here is the breakdown...- No LED's light up when I plug the Switch into the E4200 LAN ports via patch cable (Switch has auto uplink so no crossover needed)- E4200 Ports work fine when I plug devices directly into them, LED's light up and everything.- Switch works fine when connected to the WRT54G, LED's on both devices light up when connected to eachother.- Tried different ports, different patch cables, even tried setting E4200 to bridge mode to just see if I could get the LED's to light up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently puchased a new E4200v2 router and one of the devices that I have on my network is a Level1 WCS-2040 wireless network camera. My old router was a Netgear WPN-824. I was able to (and I'm still able to) connect the camera to the Netgear router with WPA-PSK but not to the new E4200v2. The only way for me to connect it to the new router is with WEP, which I obviously do not want.
I'm at a loss for what the problem is because the setup is easily done. I'm thinking it's an issue with the E4200v2 but I'm not sure what... hoping that the issue could be resolved in the next revision of the firmware. I've tried WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode, WPA Personal (which I understand is the same thing as WPA-PSK) and WEP. The camera supports WEP and WPA-PSK. When I have the camera configured with WPA-PSK it simply isn't connecting to the E4200v2, only the old netgear.

When the wired connection is removed from the camera and powercycled, the E4200v2 does not list the camera as a connected device. I've power cycled everything, multiple times and tried everything I know of. What could be the problem? Note that the MAC address for the camera is the same for both wired and wireless adapters. And no, Password1 is not my default password... just what I was testing with for the purpose of screenshots.
I have a desktop and laptop and im on my desktop which has internet...I have a wireless router that is working and its called:NETGEAR WIRELESS-N 150 ROUTER WNR1000V2. The router network comes up on my laptop when I look for avaliable networks but..I try to connect and type in the exact password for the router but says "windows cannot connect to network" On my laptop im running windows vista home premuim service pack 2.
