Wgr614 V6 Wireless Router Only Allows One Device Or It Crashes?
Feb 3, 2013
I have a wgr614 V6 router, yes its old. I had 3 devices connected to it just fine before without any issues. But now It only allows my laptop, when I try to connect with my ipod touch or desktop, not only does it fail, the entire network crashes and my laptop loses it and its gone. It then takes about 2 minutes to come back up. So whenever I attempt to connect with another device the network crashes. so right now only my laptop is connected.I downloaded & updated to the newest firmware, did not work.I tried resetting the router, and made the network all over again, did NOT work.
We have several RV082s here which are intended to connect to a central ASA5510 firewall. The VPNs are configured and do work basically, however in our test environment the RV082s kept crashing after an apparently unpredictable amount of time (sometimes after several days or even weeks). All the RV082 have the newest firmware installed (v4.1.0.02-tm).
When further investigating the issue, I found out that the crashes can be reproduced when enabling the keep-alive option on the RV082. When powering up the RV082, they boot, start up the VPN, and then they crash a few seconds after the tunnel has been established (one or two pings usually get through). When crashing, the RV082 becomes completely unreachable, ie no ping, no webinterface etc.
There is a note in the firmware release notes saying that enabling the keep-alive option would not work the way it should. However it seems that enabling that option lets the router completely crash after its next reboot. This makes the keep-alive option basically worthless, however we need this since the routers will get installed at remote sites with no personnel available there.
Is there any way to enable the keep-alive option without making the routers crash immediately after startup?
I have a Netgear wireless router(WGR614 v9) and im trying to connect a second laptop to it. The laptop is accessing the internet when I have it connected to my modem via Cat 5 Patch cable. When I detach the cable from the laptop and modem, it doesn't connect to the internet. I went through the whole installing with the cd that comes with the router but after I finish I get the same results.
According to System properties:
Microsoft Windows XP (theres a sticker on my laptop for Windows Vista) Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3
Posted below is my computer info from using ipconfig.
i am trying to connect my netgear wgr614 v7 wireless router and i can't do it. i have the actiontec m1000 modem which is thru qwest i have read the setup manual available online on how to setup the modem with the router but it just doesnt do anything?
I just added a wireless router netgear wgr614 and I secured it and it worked for one day and then after that no internet connection. I've rest and unplugged both the modem and the router and still nothing.
I have a Netgear WGR614 wireless router connected to my WOW DSL modem and utilize WPA as security. wireless signal is good on first floor but drops significantly in my basement. I have a Netgear WG102 AP I would like to configure as a repeater and place in my basement to boost the WGR614 signal strength. What configurations must I apply to both or either devices to achieve this setup?
My primary home wireless is a Linksys WRT54GS Broadband Router. I have an older Netgear WGR614 Wireless Router that I would like to setup as a wireless bridge to use in another room to connect my other electronics to (i.e tv, blu-ray, Wii).
I have a prob with my laptops, wireless setup although it shows wlan on it will not work without a connection to the router, netgear wgr614,I have gone into Devise Mng and found the following faults,Serial cable IRDA problem code 43 & SRTSPX code 24 not working.
Can't get into my netgear router to config it. I have tried using 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1. So far it will not give me a window to log in. It has allways work before on xp pro, but now i am using win 7 on my new computer.
I need to replace my Netgear WGR614 v6 router which is a good 4 or 5 years old, and i think is the cause of a very slow internet connection. Download speeds are reaching 1.1mb/s but browsing on the internet is unbelievably slow and fails to load pages most of the time saying the DNS look-up failed. I was thinking of purchasing the Buffalo Wireless-N300 Cable Router. I'm with Virgin Media, i think on 10meg broadband. I think it will support moving from wireless G to wireless N, but my laptop is fairly old too - Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook C series.
I have a router TP-Link (without wireless) connected in my modem wich have this subnet : 192.168.0.*, that work fine. But I need a wireless connection too, my wireless router had this ip given by the TP-Link router: 192.168.0.13.
I have a NETGEAR WIRELESS-G ROUTER WGR614 which gain 192.168.0.13 but I need that gives ip's in the same subnet that TP link router. If the person connect to my wi-fi it should receive an ip like 192.168.0.*, I already try to disable the DHCP server in the NETGEAR but it's not working too. How can I do that ?
I am using a netgear wgr614 router and the laptop I'm trying to use won't connect. It shows up as available but 'Windows was unable to connect to NETGEAR' pops up. Futher troubleshooting brings up "Investigate router or access point issues" but turning off the router did not fix the problem.
This is what is on my Desktop:

I saw a thread from early 2010 which described the issue I am currently having to a T. I am on a Belkin Wireless G with Mimo router and it runs perfectly either on LAN or WLAN, until my new roommate's MacBook gets on there at the same time. As soon as the MAC connects, I get a blue screen of death and the PC restarts. I have been battling this issue for over a week now and have absolutely narrowed it down to the Mac/wireless area.
I have already uninstalled/reinstalled my wireless drivers and thought that had fixed the issue(it worked fine for 4 days), until the roommate returned from out of town and connected the Mac to the Wireless....then WAMMO, like clockwork, back came the BSoD. This seems like a very unique problem, as I have done many searches online and the one I mentioned on here is the only one I could find that accurately described my issue.
For reference, I have posted the link to the previous case below. Unfortunately, no solutions, other than reinstall drivers (which I have already done) are posted. I tried everything in that thread and my settings appear to all be the same as his. Is it possible this is just some rare Windows 7 glitch that has never been resolved?
I'm connected through the router, a few times a day I cannot open web pages, getting error: Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address.Skype continues to work. Here are the results of pinging:

One technician said that this is the providers problem, but I don't think so. When I restart the modem everything works.I have a Netgear WGR614 v9 router.I use ESET 5 security. Btw, connection drops on all computers connected through the router, so it's not my firewall.
I have two mac laptops and am trying to copy a directory with a number of PDFs in it. The files aren't particularly large, but there are many of them. At some point in the process the router stops and must be turned off and on before it will respond again either wirelessly or wired. I have tried the same experiment with both devices wired and the router works fine. I have tried changing the MTU, channel, beacon setting, etc. as other forum posts have tried. I tried reflashing the firmware, resetting to factory defaults and reconfiguring. So far no success. Cisco support wants me to return the router. Frankly I'm at the point of considering the former Linksys/Cisco products complete rubbish. I am going to have to buy a new router even if I return this one since I can't be without a router for any length of time.
In hopes of fixing some "flaky" connection issues with my WRT54G V2 Wireless Router, I downloaded and applied the new firmware version released on 08/18/2011, Ver.4.21.4 for my Version 2 Router. I downloaded, went through the application process using the router's firmware update process, it said it was successful and then the router restarted and didn't work. Couldn't ping the address, constant flashing Power light, no response at all from router. Tried again, same result. Performed hard reset, same result. Tried a few other recovery techniques found on the web with no success. Finally I did the process found here [URL] This reset the router and I re-uploaded this same 2011 version. Router still broken. I ran through the process again after downloading an older version of the firmware, specifically version V3.1_4.00.7, the upload ran, and the router worked again! This was proof to me that the newest version completely BRICKED my router. I'm so relieved I was able to reset the router and manually recover, but most will never try this. I recommend Cisco retest this ASAP and pull the new release for the V2 router until they get this resolved!
I bought a tp-link WA701ND and a netgear WGR614. i wish to pick up signal using 701 and then let 614 repeat it. no more tech support coz im already broke.
At my office we have a simple network using a Netgear WGR614 V7 router. 4 XP machines are connected via Ethernet cable and three other people are connected wirelessly (one XP laptop, one Win7 laptop and one Win 7 netbook). It appears that whenever the netbook is on the network, the other two laptops lose connectivity. The wired machines are fine. Power cycling the router and rebooting usually solves the problem.
I am attempting to setup a wireless access pointand want to deny access to a group of IP addresses. When I go to Wireless, MAC setup, Deny or Allow, and select "Edit MAC Address List" my browser crashes. I have tried this on two different Linux systems and three browsers, Firefox, Mozilla, and Seamonkey.Tech Support tells me to downgrade to Firmware version 4.30.2, the only compiled version available on the Linksys website, but with no way to go back to 4.30.5 if the problem isn't fixed or if worse problems come up I am reluctant to try this fix, The only other suggestion Tech Support offered was to replace my WRT54GL with a WRT54G.
DSL Modem>E4200>100' Cat6>SE2500>6' Cat6>Dell XPS 420 Windows 7 In this setup windows 7 crashes everytime about 2 mins If I go Cat6 to computer there is no issue at all The first 6' cable I used would only give a 10Mb connection The second 6' give 1Gb but still crashes everytime The E4200 has only to ports used one for the SE2500 and one for a Cisco SD2005 The SD2005 is connected to a Revue, Squeezebox, Sony BDP, and a Dish Network 722 I am also using WET610N to a trendnet 4port switch with a Dish 922 and a Sony BDP which I am tring to eliminate the WET610N by hard wiring everything. This is the purpose of the new ES2500.
I recently upgraded the firmware from 2.0.2.1 to 2.0.3.3 and when the router rebooted the interface was missing many items. On the basic setup page the boxes were missing to set the local ip address, subnet mask and anything below that. On the Wireless Security page the security mode box was half it's size and did not have any options in it. The wireless isolation wpa algorithm, preshared key and key renewal boxes were missing too. I rebooted the router and still got the same thing. I was able to get into administration and reset to the factory default. Once the router rebooted I was unable to get into the interface at all. It wouldn't come up at all. The power and light were blinking but I was unable to connect to it. I tried to connect with 192.168.1.245 and the one I had set manually but no luck with either. I was able send back the router for an exchange with Cisco. I received the new one today. It started up and everything worked great. I decided to try the firmware upgrade again. I went from the firmware version that was on there(I didn't right down) to 2.0.2.1 and the upgrade worked as the other 3 I have. I than tried the 2.0.3.3 upgrade and I got the same thing as the other router I sent back. I have 3 other routers in place that I will not be upgrading at this point. I should not have tried the upgrade again on the one today but being a bank the examiners like everything up to date and it's part of the monthly check.
I've two routers, one which i got from BSNL when opted for internet connection. Its a Utstartcom Type II wireless modem and the other which i got from a friend is Netgear WGR614 wireless modem/router.Now coming to the real picture. I've the BSNL wireless modem connected and working perfectly on the 3rd floor on one PC, but NOT configured for wireless access and i've another PC on Ground Floor where i need an internet connection. Fortunately, i got a router/modem which is Netgear WGR614. I do not want a wired connection between these two PCs then wanted to try the wireless way?

For a while now, my wireless network at home has been very unreliable. I posted on these forums before, asking for assistance to fix crashes that seemed to be random. I was largely unsuccessful, and the problem continued. However, as I continued to experiment with different methods to keep my network up and running, I noticed that as long as I had at least one device connected to the network around-the-clock it never crashed. This was easy enough, as I own an iPod touch and a dock (I would leave it sitting it the dock unlocked all the time). But it's annoying to never be able to leave the house with it, and I'm ready to finally get a solution to the problem once and for all. I would prefer not getting a new router, but if worse comes to worse I will.
To sum it up: -Works perfectly (when up) at full speed, never crashes unless there are no devices connected to it. -When it does crash, it is very difficult to 'coax' it back into working again; it's been down for weeks at a time before. -For some strange reason (and maybe this is a clue), newer game systems such as a Nintendo DSi or PS3 can make it start working again. I, of course, own neither of these. -I'm using a WRT160N V3, latest firmware as far as i know.
I have an E1000 that is connected to my main computer via Ethernet and have found that it crashes almost every time I run a particular type of operation.I'm testing software and running PHP scripts that invoke cUrl to fetch data from a few different web services via SSL. I would say that at least every other time one of these operations begins, the router crashes -- I am unable to ping its internal IP and I have to power-cycle it to get back up and running.
I don't experience the crashes in any other context and I use the router all day long. I'm one release behind on firmware but the release notes on the most recent version don't suggest that upgrading would make any difference -- no mention of any bugs fixed, for example.
Any issues on Cisco ISR / ISR G2 routers running 15.x code while doing NAT for large quantities of users (3000+) involving lock ups? This seems to be an ongoing issue for a customer. The symtom is present on 2811, 2911 and a 3945. The 3945 never spikes over 10% processor or memory utilization, yet still has these issues. The routers have been tested running 15.0(1)M5, 15.0(1)M7 and 15.1(4)M4 which all showed simular results. Other router side services are running such as NetFlow v9 to two destinations. Another interesting symtom, doing a "show ip nat translations" command will crash the router if executed at its peak usage period. NAT is to a single IP (sourced from outside interface), not a pool.
My BEFSR81 is my primary router and has DHCP turned on. The router's DHCP range is set to accommodate 12 devices. I have three computers wired to it and their Host names (as specified in the set-up of each computer) show up in the router's DHCP device table. I also have two printers (one old Brother HL5250DN laser printer and one new HP Photosmart Premier C410a inkjet printer) connected and there are blanks where the Host name should go. I would like to be able to tell which printer is which when I am looking at the DHCP device table. How can I get a names associated with each printer's IP address in the router's DHCP device table? (The real problem is that the router seems to have both printers at the same IP address (192.168.1.100) and if I can get one of them to change I'd like to know which one it was!)
I have about a Netgear WGR614 router and a few CentreCom FS708 switches. Is there a way to create a home network so every safe an secure computer can access the internet and another network where I would fix machines that have virus's or machines that I don't want to access the home network.
How would I go about doing this? Or do I need a better router with DD-WRT installed on it?
New Cisco E2000 (wireless N router) not compatible with WMP54G (2.4GHz) adapterCan't find new drivers. Crashes computer to blue screen. Can the two be made compatible? Windows XP Home and Pro (both computers have WMP54G and blue screen).
I have a D-Link DIR-615 router, hardware version E3, firmware 5.10
When I go to get a list of servers when playing games online, my router lights up and then crashes, and I cant get on the internet again until I exit the game. Although, some games do work. There are no problems with my firewall, and if I connect directly to my modem, I can play fine.
We bought a cisoc 2911 Router with an EHWIC-VA-DSL-A Card. I did the Dialer Setup without any problem but if i set the ATM interface with the commands: [code]The Router crashes after some seconds. I didn't connceted the phone line to the DSL card. [code]
Essentially when my friends computer disconnects from the router, everyone elses computers cannot access the internet, even though windows says they are still connected.
