Essentially when my friends computer disconnects from the router, everyone elses computers cannot access the internet, even though windows says they are still connected.

I am experiencing loss of internet access when browsing to amazon.com. In addition to losing internet access, I am unable to connect to my BEFSR81 router when this happens. To resolve I have to walk over to my router and reset it by cycling the power.

So I have a really strange problem where I cannot access my credit union's website at all through any computer in my house. I've tried on 3 different laptops both Mac and PC, along with PC desktop and my iPhone.What's weird is that I can access the website on my iPhone if I turn off wifi and use 3G - no problems. But once I'm on the wireless network again it just loads for 20-30 seconds before saying it can't connect to the server. The URL is which I also checked on down for everyone or just me - the results came back immediately saying it's just me!t this point I literally have no idea what to do... tried resetting the router, logging into the admin via 192.168.1.1 and couldn't find any firewalls or blocked URLs. I'm fairly knowledgeable with computers and OS' but networking I'm no savant.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I have anything else connected to the network (anything being my Xbox 360, or my smartphone) and I turn on/wake up my computer, the entire network crashes and I have to power cycle the router and modem in order to get it to work again. What would even cause this? I often forget to turn off the wifi on my smartphone before I turn on the computer, which results in a lot of very tedious power cycling. It's also frustrating if I'm playing some vidya on the 360 and my wife gets on the computer, resulting in me getting kicked off and her unable to even do what she wanted to do in the first place.
The stranger part is that if I have my computer already on, and I turn on the 360/smartphone, it works fine. So there's something going wrong in the process of my computer connecting to the network, I guess. I have set a static IP, and I also made sure to turn off the energy saving feature of my wifi card, but neither of those things solved the problem.
I am connected to a public wifi in my building thru built-in adapter of my laptop. I am running Windows 7 Home Basic. The connection allows only one device to run on one login name. I need to share this connection with my other device by turning my laptop into hotspot or thru ethernet. I have tried using Virtual Wifi Miniport and Connectify. I have tried LAN also. But I encounter the same problem in all the cases. As soon as I turn on internet sharing thru the properties of my public wifi connection, the Virtual Wifi or the LAN turn "Unidentified" and there is no internet on my other device. I even tried using a usb wifi adapter to connect to public wifi and sharing the internet over my laptop's adapter and vice versa but to no avail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor a while now, my wireless network at home has been very unreliable. I posted on these forums before, asking for assistance to fix crashes that seemed to be random. I was largely unsuccessful, and the problem continued. However, as I continued to experiment with different methods to keep my network up and running, I noticed that as long as I had at least one device connected to the network around-the-clock it never crashed. This was easy enough, as I own an iPod touch and a dock (I would leave it sitting it the dock unlocked all the time). But it's annoying to never be able to leave the house with it, and I'm ready to finally get a solution to the problem once and for all. I would prefer not getting a new router, but if worse comes to worse I will.
To sum it up:
-Works perfectly (when up) at full speed, never crashes unless there are no devices connected to it.
-When it does crash, it is very difficult to 'coax' it back into working again; it's been down for weeks at a time before.
-For some strange reason (and maybe this is a clue), newer game systems such as a Nintendo DSi or PS3 can make it start working again. I, of course, own neither of these.
-I'm using a WRT160N V3, latest firmware as far as i know.
So I have a Toshiba Satellite L555D-S7005. When I put it into Hibernate mode (I dont like turning it off, takes too much time) it paralyzes my whole wireless network. It makes it so that anybody else on WIRELESS gets disconnected, and cannot reconnect easily (they must restart the router). This gets very irritating when my brother is on the X-BOX/Laptop and he cannot continue playing games or whatever. If I disconnect my laptop the network goes down for them, but not for me. I can log right back on and connect with no problems. The wired computer has no problems with internet when I turn off my laptop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust replaced Dir 625 with Dir 655. I have Sony KDL 46NX700 TV. When the router is on the tv turns off and on, like a reboot. The longer the tv stays on the longer between the reboots. Also if the wireless device is turned off in tv settings it does not turn off and on. Have talked to Sony, they can't resolve the problem. Had me call local repair. He thinks it may be the power supply. He said he would order one. That was before I discovered it was the wireless signal causing it to turn off and on.

When I troubleshoot, it says about the ethernet cable. When I plug it to the ethernet slot on the back of my computer, it would not flash an orange light. Am I required to buy another ethernet cable or it's just my router who had just lost power?

I have disabled both windows firewall and my virus software but nothing seems to work. It seems to be a timeout issue as FTP and ping sometimes does work but FTP is increadibly slow when it works and the ping time is very high 670ms and above. I am running windows 7 and my router is a netgear n150
Apparently when watching TV after the show is over and the TV is turned off the lights on the router dims and their wifi router is not able to be found any longer and they have to reset the router in order to find it again. I downloaded the newest firmware version 4.21.5 yesterday since they had the original firmware from years ago thinking this may solve the problem. It worked for a day and then stopped with the router having the same symptoms. They have this router located very closely to their plasma TV for the past 3 months, however, I was reading that wifi routers do not cause any interference with plasma TVs. They had this router placed near their old rear projection TV for years and never had any problems.Could the router be going bad? Could the router be too close to the TV?

I called my ISP who said there was nothing wrong on their end. Plugging directly into my modem allows me to access the Internet. When I wake up in the morning, the connection is back until 11 or later again. I ran WireShark but I'm not sure what to be looking for. The cameras require that I unplug the cameras before they will respond. When the cameras are unresponsive I cannot access the camera via a web browser, the D-View Cam software, or the setup wizard. This is a problem as they are all mounted in positions requiring a ladder to access.

Is there a way to configure our HP 5406 with an absolute rate limit on "WAN" port for that server's IP range? The IKE Proposal field has a number of possible options including: pre-share-aes-256-md5, pre-share-3des-md5, pre-share-aes-256-sha, pre-share-aes-192-sha, pre-share-3des-md5, pre-share-aes-sha and pre-share-3des-sha.
I am able to pick a specific IPSec Proposal w/o issue but when I attempt to do the same for the IKE Proposal, and click OK the choice does not "stick" but rather returns to the entire list as defined above.

I want to assign a specific IP to a specifig host by MAC .. for example i want the ip 192.168.1.10 to be assign to the host "client1" by mac.I've been creating a new dhcp pool static:

This seems to be an ongoing issue for a customer. The symtom is present on 2811, 2911 and a 3945. The 3945 never spikes over 10% processor or memory utilization, yet still has these issues. The routers have been tested running 15.0(1)M5, 15.0(1)M7 and 15.1(4)M4 which all showed simular results. Other router side services are running such as NetFlow v9 to two destinations. Another interesting symtom, doing a "show ip nat translations" command will crash the router if executed at its peak usage period. NAT is to a single IP (sourced from outside interface), not a pool.

I have two mac laptops and am trying to copy a directory with a number of PDFs in it. The files aren't particularly large, but there are many of them. At some point in the process the router stops and must be turned off and on before it will respond again either wirelessly or wired. I have tried the same experiment with both devices wired and the router works fine. I have tried changing the MTU, channel, beacon setting, etc. as other forum posts have tried. I tried reflashing the firmware, resetting to factory defaults and reconfiguring. So far no success. Cisco support wants me to return the router. Frankly I'm at the point of considering the former Linksys/Cisco products complete rubbish. I am going to have to buy a new router even if I return this one since I can't be without a router for any length of time.

I am on a Belkin Wireless G with Mimo router and it runs perfectly either on LAN or WLAN, until my new roommate's MacBook gets on there at the same time. As soon as the MAC connects, I get a blue screen of death and the PC restarts. I have been battling this issue for over a week now and have absolutely narrowed it down to the Mac/wireless area.
I have already uninstalled/reinstalled my wireless drivers and thought that had fixed the issue(it worked fine for 4 days), until the roommate returned from out of town and connected the Mac to the Wireless....then WAMMO, like clockwork, back came the BSoD. This seems like a very unique problem, as I have done many searches online and the one I mentioned on here is the only one I could find that accurately described my issue.
For reference, I have posted the link to the previous case below. Unfortunately, no solutions, other than reinstall drivers (which I have already done) are posted. I tried everything in that thread and my settings appear to all be the same as his. Is it possible this is just some rare Windows 7 glitch that has never been resolved?

I have a wgr614 V6 router, yes its old. I had 3 devices connected to it just fine before without any issues. But now It only allows my laptop, when I try to connect with my ipod touch or desktop, not only does it fail, the entire network crashes and my laptop loses it and its gone. It then takes about 2 minutes to come back up. So whenever I attempt to connect with another device the network crashes. so right now only my laptop is connected.I downloaded & updated to the newest firmware, did not work.I tried resetting the router, and made the network all over again, did NOT work.

When I go to get a list of servers when playing games online, my router lights up and then crashes, and I cant get on the internet again until I exit the game. Although, some games do work. There are no problems with my firewall, and if I connect directly to my modem, I can play fine.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis first started happening a couple of weeks ago when a piece of software was put on to the computer off an external hard drive. First the wifi would turn itself off but after turning it back on it might happily stay on for a few hours before switching itself back off.The day before yesterday it decided to start turning itself off straight away. I plugged in with ethernet, uninstalled the old drivers and reinstalled new ones, this didn't seem to do anything so I turned on my firewall and titanium defense and after a while it decided to start working again.Earlier today I connected my DSLR camera to my USB 3 port to download pictures, this killed my wifi straight way. I reconnected with ethernet and I'm not sure what I did but now the wifi has decided to work again.

This seems to have started after a McAfee update that created screen blanking issues corrected by Dell and McAfee. I can find no reason so have turned off the sleep. Device driver is up to date.
