View 1 RepliesI own a cyber cafe. I was told that switches are smart enough to distribute the same speed to all the clients. So I was not worried at first. But now if 2-3 customers starts watching youtube videos the rest starts complaining about the speed. I googled for the solution but got none. How to limit the speed,I want to lock the bandwidth of each computer.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to enable an absolute value rate limit using QOS on a HP ProCurve 5406 switch for a particular IP range on a specific port? Is there a way to configure our HP 5406 with an absolute rate limit on "WAN" port for that server's IP range? I would like to limit it to only being capable of sending 1Mbps worth of traffic over the head end at once.Everything in the documentation points towards priority queues, which as far as I can tell, isn't really what I want.Baring accomplishing this goal using rate limiting is there a better way to prevent our services from accidentally saturating this connection?i thimkong about somthing like that:
class ipv4 rate-limit-port-A1
match ip 10.136.0.0/16 any
exit
policy qos port-a1-ratelimit
class servers-to-be-slowed action rate-limit kbps 1000
exit
interface A1 service-policy port-a1-ratelimit inI'm not sure about this.
My company has a peer to peer network of 10 personal computers without a server. Operating systems from Windows XP to Vista. I've recently installed a Cisco RV120W Wireless-N VPN Firewall. It's configured in DHCP Server Mode with printers/copiers that have static IPs below the DHCP range.
I'm having a problem with certain stations being used for personal networking, shopping, etc. during business hours. Consequently I would like to limit internet access on these stations. However, some internet access is required because of online database software that's an integral part of our business. I've been reading in the Administration Guide about URL Blocking. Would it be possible to give static IPs to certain stations and then limit their internet access to 1 or 2 specific websites?
FYI, I've read about the Trusted Domains and Blocked Keywords but cannot quite understand how to parley this into the solution I need.
I wan to ask whether i can control and limit my internet speed on LAN or not cos nowadays i have internet shop, but i couldn't control download bandwidth of each customer who come to download. Sometimes, it's effected to other customer using internet too,

Whenever my sister uses her laptop it makes the routers ping really unstable. It usually lies between 200-1000 when she uses the laptop. When she turns it off the ping remains at 21. Our internet is 8mbps/0.7mbps. I have tried other laptops and had no problems, but her laptop and her general use makes it impossible to play an online game without lagg. She doesn't download anything, just plays some flash/java games, chats and webcam etc. I just can't understand why the ping becomes so unstable when she uses her laptop.What can I do to make the ping more stable? Any software I can install to limit how much ping she uses or something? Something I can buy to split the line between us or anything like that? Software that checks what she is doing that makes the ping unstable? She just had a few programs and chrome up and still ping was unstable. None of the other laptops in the house behaves this way nor any of the desktops. It also makes web pages load 5 times slower?

My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit.All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.

On board NIC: Intel 82579V Gigabit Network Controller (asus sabertooth x79 motherboard)I installed the drivers for it from intel's site.f I set link speed to auto (chooses 100mbps full duplex) or 100mbps full or half duplex, any HTTP downloads get slowed to a crawl (30kbps) (steam downloads remain at normal speeds). If I set it to 10mbps full duplex, download speeds jump to normal (500kbps for most HTTP sources)his happens on just this new computer (wired connection), any other computers on the network (wireless) work just fine

Is there a way of defining a specific bandwidth limit per IP address, or range?
Within the Internet Access Policy section of the browser based utility, is it possible to limit access for a specific device (PC) to LAN only (not allow any traffic to external internet)? I see that you can block internet access for a specific machine, however I didn't know if this was inclusive of LAN as well.If not, is there another way to achieve this via the E3000 or should I be looking for a solution on the specific PC itself?
View 4 Replies View RelatedNeed to limit the amount of bandwidth a specific VLAN can use on a 802.1q trunk port. Situation is that we have a pair of Catalyst 4506 switches which have 802.1q trunk ports into a Checkpoint Firewall, this in turn is connected to a managed WAN router (to which I can't apply a QoS policy).If the 4506 was routing the traffic it would be easy to setup a class-map to match the IP traffic and then QoS the traffic, but the VLAN in question is trunked directly into the firewall (no L3/IP presence on the 4506 next hop for all clients on this VLAN is the firewall).What I need to do is restrict any traffic from this specific VLAN to 10Mbps on the uplink to the Checkpoint Firewall so it cannot impact the onward WAN.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to allow a specific client to only associate at 6mbit/s -is this possible using the wlc controller 5508? Another option would be to limit a whole w lan ssid to 6mbit/s but i can't find a way to do that either.
Other w lan ssid's on the same access points/controller need full data rates, so i guess i can't use the RF-profiling for this.

Users ------ 3560 switch ------- 2801 router -------- T1 to NOC -------- 7204 router with channelized DS3
I use Netflow Analyzer for high bandwidth usage alerts and can see the user's IP right away when someone is clogging our T1s. My goal is to be able to temporarily limit the bandwidth of the user taking over the T1. Whatever is best switch config or on the router.
Soon after our router, modem been changed, all other computers are fine but my comuper become very very slow.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Main computer (which has a wired connection to router) internet is running so slow, i mean so slow that i cannot even do a speed test, it keeps failing, im continuously getting server timed out messages when browsing, and to watch a youtube video of 1 minute long it will take about 5 - 10 minutes to stream it before i can watch it. However despite the above the two laptops and ipad work great, i have a braodband speed of around 16megs. Now here is everything i have done so far. After calling my ISP to se if it was their fault, which it turned out not to be, they got me to change all the DNS and IP settings to manual, they gave me all the numbers to put in. Again that did not work so i used namebench to find the quickest DNS servers for me, that didnt work ethier so i just reverted all settings back to automatic as they were before.
