Belkin Basic USB Wireless Adapter / Very Slow Download Speed - Upload Speed Is Fine

Jan 11, 2011

Recently my desktop has experienced very slow download speeds (~0.11 Mbps), however the upload speed appears to be in line (~2.0Mbps). These numbers are taken from Comcast's speed test (my ISP). It is obviously a problem with my PC because everything else on the network (PS3, Laptop) have great signals with no problems. I just recently reverted the Desktop back to its factory state, and everything was working fine for a couple of months. The desktop in question uses Vista 32-bit and the Belkin Basic USB Wireless Adapter.

I just want to limit the wifi speeds to about 70% because recently someone moved in that does a lot of downloads and makes my games go from 40 ping to 300+ and also my phone is through the internet, which becomes unusable.

just some simple setting to set the max wifi data to 13megabits/s down 1mbit up or something.

Cisco Firewall :: Limit Speed On Port Or VLAN ASA 5505

Aug 7, 2012

We need to have one connection with less internet bandwidth assigned to it than all other other connections. Basically it is a separate conection from all others, incoming just from one switch port and separate VLAN.I know this can be done on the switch by limiting the bandwidth allocated to a port,

however, is it possible to have the speed limited down, just before it goes to the internet, ie, on the ASA, rather than doing it on the switch? The firewall is an ASA 5505.

Download Speed Drops After A Few Minutes Of Resetting Network Adapter?

Aug 2, 2012

I am having an issue with my network connection. I have tested the connection itself and it's not a problem on my ISP's end or the connection itself, but seems to be caused by hardware/software errors originating from the computer. It almost appears as if the connection is being capped or the like, because the signal is very strong when I connect to the internet at first, then after a few moments drops (consistently every time I try reconnecting) to an unacceptably low signal level.

Limit How Much Internet / Ping A Computer Can Take

Jul 6, 2012

Whenever my sister uses her laptop it makes the routers ping really unstable. It usually lies between 200-1000 when she uses the laptop. When she turns it off the ping remains at 21. Our internet is 8mbps/0.7mbps. I have tried other laptops and had no problems, but her laptop and her general use makes it impossible to play an online game without lagg. She doesn't download anything, just plays some flash/java games, chats and webcam etc. I just can't understand why the ping becomes so unstable when she uses her laptop. What can I do to make the ping more stable? Any software I can install to limit how much ping she uses or something? Something I can buy to split the line between us or anything like that? Software that checks what she is doing that makes the ping unstable? She just had a few programs and chrome up and still ping was unstable. None of the other laptops in the house behaves this way nor any of the desktops. It also makes web pages load 5 times slower?
