Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 / Limit Bandwidth Speed Of Guest Accounts?

Jul 7, 2011

How can I limit bandwidth speed of guest accounts? Or are there free softwares available to do something like that? It's kinda like the hotspot softwares - where we can set hourly, daily, monthly allowances and see a report on their connectivity.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 With Extended Guest-WLAN

Jul 16, 2011

I tried to extend the Range of the Guest WLAN of the E2000 with several different Access Points vom TP-Link. (Last try: TL-WA901D) The Access Point recognises the WLAN and sometimes it has a connection for a short time. But then the whole WLAN is breaking down, sometimes the Router E200 hangs up, also with the LAN connections. The E200 is connected to a sky-DSL Router and works fine when no additional access point is connected. In the web-Interface of the E2000 I cant setup any specific Guest-WLAN settings.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Guest / User Authentication E2000?

Jul 7, 2011

E2000 has the guest account feature.  Not sure if all guests shares the same login credentials.  I would like to have guests account use seperate logins.  Is this feature available?  Another thing, I read the manual and it is indicated that only up to 10 maximum guest acccounts is allowed.  I am looking for more than 10 - kinda like a hotspot software.

I've been looking everywhere.  I've seen hotspot system, ddwrt, chillspot, etc.  But it's complicated as firmware needed to be flashed.

Linksys Wireless Router :: PSP Won't Connect To Main Or Guest - E2000

Dec 6, 2010

We have been unable to connect our PSPs to the new E2000, and after several hours we're ready to throw in the towel and go get a different router! The PSPs only see the "guest" connection when using the scan option, but cannot connect to it. Even after manually adding both the main and the guest info we are STILL unable to connect either of the PSPs We had an older router from your company which we had no issues connecting 6 desktops, a lappy, 2 psp, 2 ds, 2 xbox 360, and a Wii, as well as our smart phones. After this recent "upgrade" to the E2000 the PSPs CANNOT connect no matter what we do. It gives many different error messages.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Managing Bandwidth / Users On Home Network With E2000

Aug 13, 2012

I've got the E2000 at home for our private network.

We are three guys sharing a flat. We have personal laptops, work laptops, mobile phones, games consoles, tablets etc that connect to the internet.

Problem is that when someone downloads stuff, the speed is slow for the rest of us. So i was hoping i could set up something like three "channels" so each of us could have the same download speed, ie 1 mbs each regardless if others are using the network at the same time. And then maybe a guest network for all the mobiles and tablets etc. MAC filtering for access for our personal laptops should work.

We have a 20mbit cable network line.

Can i do all of this on the E2000 and how?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 - How To Keep Speed At 300 M

Dec 7, 2011

I'm using E2000 currently and meet a wireless connection problem. The speed can up to 300M bps. When I confiured the E2000 to band auto (20-40mhz) and my wireless network card to work at also auto (20-40) mode, it always down to 144M speed when connection.

If I changed some settings in E2000's wireless configuration, in the status sheet I can see it works at 40MHZ. But after a while,(5-10 mins) it automaticly down to 20MHZ and my labtop connect only got a 144M speed.

how can I deal with that to make it always keep at 300M connection? Note the previous router I used to connect to my lattop can always keep that speed.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 And 50MB Internet Speed

Sep 6, 2011

I have an E2000 Wireless N Router setup to use WPA2/AES. I have Comcast cable internet service and I just upgraded to the 50Mbps speed. I have a Motorola Surfboard modem (DOCSIS 3.0).

If I connect my computer directly to the modem or to one of the ports on the E2000 I get great speeds sometimes up to 60Mbps but on average I am getting 45-48Mbps which is acceptable.

When I try to connect the same computer to the E2000 wirelessly my speed tests return a horrible 18-22Mbps. When I run these tests the computer is in the same room as the router. As I move throughout my house the speed tests are the same. My wireless connection speed to my laptop is good 144Mbps and 300Mbps depending on the band (2.4 or 5.0).

I have tried to use the 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz using different channels. I have also tried different "N Transmission Rate" settings. One of them (5 - 52Mpbs) does increase the speed to around 25-26Mpbs but that is all.

Strangely (or maybe not) the upload speeds are consistent on all of the tests at around 12Mpbs.

I am using Speedtest.net and Speakeasy for all of my tests.

Is there anyway I can get my wireless download speed up to around 40Mpbs? Or am I going to have to run cables through my house to the devices where I need these high speeds?

I also have upgraded to the latest firmware version.(1.0.04)

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Very Slow - Need High Upload Speed

Jul 11, 2012

I bought an E2000 router as a replacement for my WRT54G router, since my internet speeds had been upgraded. But this E2000 router has been giving me nothing but trouble.

Wired through both the router or modem, I get my topspeed of 110mbps. However, as soon as I switch over to the wireless N function, my speed drops to only 25mbps. As far as I know, wireless N should have a much faster speed than that. Even my old WRT54G had faster speeds than this new router has. Mind you, that the distance between my laptop and router is about 3 inches away. The further I go away from my router, the speed exponentialy drops (20 feet, and the speed even drops to below 10mbps). Even with different laptops that have completely different wireless cards. Now honestly, I have tried EVERYTHING to get the speed up. Both 2.4 and 5ghz, 20mhz only, 40 mhz only, different channels (currently the router is in channel 11, being the only router in that channel), setting the network to G-only. I tried changing the Beacon interval thing in numerous settings, I even tried changing the MUT. Firmware is completely up to date. I have also tried placing the router on a completely different place, to make sure there was absolutely no interference (tough that shouldn't be an issue if my laptop is only 3 inches away) I tried changing the security mode to something different than WPA2/AES.

Nothing worked, if anything, it made it worse in some cases. I have litteraly tried every option I could find online, except for trying a third party firmware like DDWRT, which worked excellently for my old WRT54G, though I read that speeds can't be improved on this E2000 with a third party firmware.

Is there anything else I can do, or should I assume that my router is defective?

When I'm in my bedroom, I get a very poor connection and my speed drops to about 0.25mbps. Abysmal, so I bought a WiFi range extender to get me a better signal. It works, and it allows me to get a speed of about 5-6 mbps, without dropped connections. Still slow, but at least it works. The weird thing is, wired through my router or modem, I get  about 9mbps upload speed. With this extender, I get the same 9mbps upload speed in my bedroom, though only 5-6 mbps download speed. You'd think that the upload speed would drop simultaneously with the download speed. How can my upload speed be higher (maxing out) than my download speed? I wonder if my transmitting antenna of my router isn't defective.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Max Wireless-n Speed 72 Mbps?

Sep 13, 2011

I just bought a refurbished E2000 wireless-n router with 1 Gb LAN ports (from Cisco online). This router is meant to replace my Netgear wireless-n router that only have 100 Mb LAN ports.I have 10 devices in my home network, 6 of them are using wireless (1 'g' and 5 'n') and 4 are interconnected with cat5e cables (trough the router). The devices have some different operating systems and their network adapters are from different brands. When I set up the Netgear router I didn't have to adjust anything for the wireless network to work fine. All wireless-n devices worked at 150 Mbps (sometimes going down shortly to 130 Mbps). The wireless-g device worked at 54 Mbps. For the last 2 days I've been trying to set up the E2000 to achieve a wireless-n speed higher then 72 Mpbs... without success.I tried all the suggestions that I found in the Cisco Knowledge Base.

- Upgrading the firmware to the latest version

- Trying different channels and channel widths

- Different wireless security methods and many others.

Also trying different settings on the different devices doesn't work.Changing the distance between router and devices as well as changing the location of the router don't affect the results.Switching on only 1 device at a time doesn't change anything either. It looks like the E2000 is set to not transmit on a higher speed than 72 Mbps, when it's actually supposed to achieve a wireless-n speed of up to 300 Mbps. I would be lucky if I get the half of it, but not if it's only one fourth.

Linksys WRT54GL Router Losing Bandwidth / Speed / Disconnects

I have a Linksys WRT54GL v. 1.1 that has been dropping connection speed (starts at 54mb, then drops to 48mbs, 36mbs, 28mbs, down to 1mbs) then disconnects, then reconnects at 54 mbs. After a short while, it will drop the speed again until it disconnects and reconnects again. This is the third Linksys WRT54GL that has done this. The first one was 5 years old before it started doing this in February, the second was 3 months old, and now the replacement Linksys sent to me is doing this?

What is going on with my router? I am able to connect fine with the Cat5 cable, but wireless seems to be the problem. Even my phone(s) get disconnected from the wireless router. This problem just recently started and I don't know why, no settings had been changed on any of the routers until after the problem had already ocurred, then the Linksys phone tech support had me make multiple changes.
