Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 And 50MB Internet Speed

Sep 6, 2011

I have an E2000 Wireless N Router setup to use WPA2/AES. I have Comcast cable internet service and I just upgraded to the 50Mbps speed. I have a Motorola Surfboard modem (DOCSIS 3.0).

If I connect my computer directly to the modem or to one of the ports on the E2000 I get great speeds sometimes up to 60Mbps but on average I am getting 45-48Mbps which is acceptable.

When I try to connect the same computer to the E2000 wirelessly my speed tests return a horrible 18-22Mbps. When I run these tests the computer is in the same room as the router. As I move throughout my house the speed tests are the same. My wireless connection speed to my laptop is good 144Mbps and 300Mbps depending on the band (2.4 or 5.0).

I have tried to use the 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz using different channels. I have also tried different "N Transmission Rate" settings. One of them (5 - 52Mpbs) does increase the speed to around 25-26Mpbs but that is all.

Strangely (or maybe not) the upload speeds are consistent on all of the tests at around 12Mpbs.

I am using Speedtest.net and Speakeasy for all of my tests.

Is there anyway I can get my wireless download speed up to around 40Mpbs? Or am I going to have to run cables through my house to the devices where I need these high speeds?

I also have upgraded to the latest firmware version.(1.0.04)

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 - How To Keep Speed At 300 M

Dec 7, 2011

I'm using E2000 currently and meet a wireless connection problem. The speed can up to 300M bps. When I confiured the E2000 to band auto (20-40mhz) and my wireless network card to work at also auto (20-40) mode, it always down to 144M speed when connection.

If I changed some settings in E2000's wireless configuration, in the status sheet I can see it works at 40MHZ. But after a while,(5-10 mins) it automaticly down to 20MHZ and my labtop connect only got a 144M speed.

how can I deal with that to make it always keep at 300M connection? Note the previous router I used to connect to my lattop can always keep that speed.

Unfortunately the smiled stiffened when I realised that the network speed did not meet the expected up to 300 Mbps for Wireless and x10 for a Giganet connection. What to do to improve the LAN speed to an acceptable level ?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Very Slow - Need High Upload Speed

Jul 11, 2012

I bought an E2000 router as a replacement for my WRT54G router, since my internet speeds had been upgraded. But this E2000 router has been giving me nothing but trouble.

Wired through both the router or modem, I get my topspeed of 110mbps. However, as soon as I switch over to the wireless N function, my speed drops to only 25mbps. As far as I know, wireless N should have a much faster speed than that. Even my old WRT54G had faster speeds than this new router has. Mind you, that the distance between my laptop and router is about 3 inches away. The further I go away from my router, the speed exponentialy drops (20 feet, and the speed even drops to below 10mbps). Even with different laptops that have completely different wireless cards. Now honestly, I have tried EVERYTHING to get the speed up. Both 2.4 and 5ghz, 20mhz only, 40 mhz only, different channels (currently the router is in channel 11, being the only router in that channel), setting the network to G-only. I tried changing the Beacon interval thing in numerous settings, I even tried changing the MUT. Firmware is completely up to date. I have also tried placing the router on a completely different place, to make sure there was absolutely no interference (tough that shouldn't be an issue if my laptop is only 3 inches away) I tried changing the security mode to something different than WPA2/AES.

Nothing worked, if anything, it made it worse in some cases. I have litteraly tried every option I could find online, except for trying a third party firmware like DDWRT, which worked excellently for my old WRT54G, though I read that speeds can't be improved on this E2000 with a third party firmware.

Is there anything else I can do, or should I assume that my router is defective?

When I'm in my bedroom, I get a very poor connection and my speed drops to about 0.25mbps. Abysmal, so I bought a WiFi range extender to get me a better signal. It works, and it allows me to get a speed of about 5-6 mbps, without dropped connections. Still slow, but at least it works. The weird thing is, wired through my router or modem, I get  about 9mbps upload speed. With this extender, I get the same 9mbps upload speed in my bedroom, though only 5-6 mbps download speed. You'd think that the upload speed would drop simultaneously with the download speed. How can my upload speed be higher (maxing out) than my download speed? I wonder if my transmitting antenna of my router isn't defective.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Max Wireless-n Speed 72 Mbps?

Sep 13, 2011

I just bought a refurbished E2000 wireless-n router with 1 Gb LAN ports (from Cisco online). This router is meant to replace my Netgear wireless-n router that only have 100 Mb LAN ports.I have 10 devices in my home network, 6 of them are using wireless (1 'g' and 5 'n') and 4 are interconnected with cat5e cables (trough the router). The devices have some different operating systems and their network adapters are from different brands. When I set up the Netgear router I didn't have to adjust anything for the wireless network to work fine. All wireless-n devices worked at 150 Mbps (sometimes going down shortly to 130 Mbps). The wireless-g device worked at 54 Mbps. For the last 2 days I've been trying to set up the E2000 to achieve a wireless-n speed higher then 72 Mpbs... without success.I tried all the suggestions that I found in the Cisco Knowledge Base.

- Upgrading the firmware to the latest version

- Trying different channels and channel widths

- Different wireless security methods and many others.

Also trying different settings on the different devices doesn't work.Changing the distance between router and devices as well as changing the location of the router don't affect the results.Switching on only 1 device at a time doesn't change anything either. It looks like the E2000 is set to not transmit on a higher speed than 72 Mbps, when it's actually supposed to achieve a wireless-n speed of up to 300 Mbps. I would be lucky if I get the half of it, but not if it's only one fourth.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Can't Access Internet Through E2000

Apr 21, 2013

I have a Linksys E2000.

It worked fine until one day, without any change at all, it simply stoped working. I mean, I can still connect through my wifi laptop connection (it shows connected to my router and says that I have an excelent signal). But, I can't reach the internet. But, If I unplug the internet cable, and plug it in my laptop, the connection works fine. A friend told me that this could be caused intentionally by the internet provider, that they would block my signal to avoid me using a wireless router, trying to force consumers to sign their own wireless service. Thus, by this friend advice, I've cloned my laptop's MAC address to the router. It didn't work either.

I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 - Slow Internet After Adding It

Jul 24, 2012

I recently bought a E2000 wireless router. After my internet was slow for a few days, I figured out that the router was slowing down my internet.

Here's what happens: When my PC is connected directly to the cable (I am connected to a university network, so no modem), everything is fine and a speed test (url...) shows the speed as 400 Mbps(200 Mbps upload) or more.Once I add the router and connect my PC through the router, the speed test result drops to less than 200 Mbps(100 Mbps for upload). I tried this several times, testing with the same server. At the same time, when I try to open pages, "Sending request"(Chrome) takes for ever! sometimes it stays at "Sending request" for 15 seconds. This happens even google.com, so it's not the Web server.

A hidden menu, or a different firmware?

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2000 Internet Access Is Not Affected When Printer Appears To Be Offline

Jun 10, 2011

I've got a Linksys E2000 router and a Brother MFC-7840W wireless printer and they don't seem to want to play nice together.  The set-up process was fine and I can usually print wireless without a problem, but every so often I'll try to print and my computer will say that the printer is offline.  Other computers on my network also show it as offline. The printer confirms it has an IP address, but even after power cycling it won't be picked up by my machines.  I've even tried a full reset of the printer and re-configured it, at which point it is able to successfully obtain an IP address, but it still shows as offline on my PCs.

The only solution I have found is to powercycle the router.  This always works.  Now that's not a terribly inconvenient workaround most of the time, so I've been doing that for a few months now.  It obviously implicates the router as the point of failure, but wireless internet access is not affected when the printer appears to be offline, so obviously some packets are getting through normally.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 Internet Speed Fluctuations?

Mar 4, 2012

I currently use a Linksys E3200 and mainly direct connect it to my laptop. My current ISP is with Insightbb to which I use their 20.0 (20 Mbps) service. For the past 6 or 7 months I've had little to no issues with my internet connection until about a week ago. While directly connected to the E3200 I used to get up to about 20/21 Mbps at a constant rate. Yet now I'm lucky to get up to 13/14 Mbps. Also, the speed will sometimes fluctuate; shooting to as low as 8 Mbps and shooting as high as15 Mbps. I can verify that my ISP is not the issue. I've directly connected my laptop to the modem with success and received a healthy speed of up to 23 Mbps with no fluctuations. The problem only occurs once I directly connect to the router. Attempting to connect wirelessly shows the same, if not worse, problems.

I've attempted numerous factory resets and used the 30:30:30 method to no avail. I've tried power cycling the modem, router and laptop. I've tried disconnecting the router for up to 10 minutes. I've upgraded the firmware to the most recent update. I've tried setting a static IP. I've tried imputing the MTU manually. I've tried setting a MAC address clone. I've tried turning on/off UPnP. I've tried release/renewing my IP address. I've tried flushing my DNS. All of which I power cycled the router after each and every attempt.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Slow Internet Speed With WRT160N?

Aug 7, 2008

I've recently purchased a WRT160N router, and I'm using it in conjunction with a WMP54G wireless PCI card. I've set the router up to my requirements, and can get a stable wireless connection.. but internet speed seems excessively slow. While I'm able to get up to around 4MB/s transferring files over the network, running speed tests, it consecutively shows my download speed to sit around 400KB/s, whereas I'm able to get a steady 1.1MB/s on another desktop that is wired. Disabling the LAN adapter on that computer, and connecting via wireless, brings down the speed that that computer is able to get to around 400KB/s as well. Hence, I don't think it's my wireless cards, but something to do with the router itself.I'm also experiencing lag spike issues in online games, which I can only attribute to the current wireless setup, because I've previously had no issues with it. All relevant ports are forwarded, so that is not an issue. After doing some Googling on the subject, someone had suggested running SpeedGuide's TCP Optimizer, and changing the RWIN - I ran it, and set it to the 'optimal' settings, and after a reboot the wireless seemed fine - I was getting just a tad under what I should (about 950KB/s).. but after a short while, it just went back to 400KB/s. After further investigation, it seems that Vista automatically changes that RWIN value to optimize network traffic.. but I never had this issue with my old wireless gear, so I can only assume that the way Vista is reacting is based on the way the router is interacting with it.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E3200 - Internet Speed Drops?

Jul 17, 2012

We recently purchased a Linksys E3200 router, because our old router didn't take advantage of our internet speed. The router works fine, though the internet speeds again isn't as much as expected.

With a wired connection, we only get 80 Mbit/s of our full 120 Mbit/s, according to Speedtest.net. The Cisco Connect built-in speed test is even worse; only 40 Mbit/s. When we directly plug the computer into the modem, we get the full 120 Mbit/s, which indicates that the modem does have the connection speed. The router just doesn't give it to the computers attached.

I don't know about my wireless speed, as my wireless card in the laptop clearly is the bottleneck (it can only connect at 65 Mbit/s). Atheros AR9285 ftw.

We tried different cables, the one included with the router gives the same speed.
