my internet connection cuts in and out so my computer cant connect to the router and it wont show up. I am on a windows 7 toshiba laptop and i have comcast as my internet service provider.

It worked fine until one day, without any change at all, it simply stoped working. I mean, I can still connect through my wifi laptop connection (it shows connected to my router and says that I have an excelent signal). But, I can't reach the internet. But, If I unplug the internet cable, and plug it in my laptop, the connection works fine. A friend told me that this could be caused intentionally by the internet provider, that they would block my signal to avoid me using a wireless router, trying to force consumers to sign their own wireless service. Thus, by this friend advice, I've cloned my laptop's MAC address to the router. It didn't work either.
For some reason my new E2000 will not connect to our Charter TV Cable internet service. Another router works fine with same cabling. I have reset EVERYTHING numerous times and cross patched -- hard patched, wireless to where my finers are bleeding. My ISP is DHCP and requires no login. So my router is set to automatically connect. Could the router be defective?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an E2000 (2 yrs old) that is not connecting to the internet.It is a slave to a BEFSR81 which controls the DNS.I am able to connect to other computers on my home network, so I know the wirelss is working and the cables are all good. I know that I can plug my laptop into the port on the hard wire router that the wireless was plugged into and I can get internet. So the only thing I can think of is the inernet is being blocked at the E2000.

I have also tried to reset the router without any luck. I know it its not the modem that is causing the problem because I'm wired to it now.On the E2000 every light is blinking as it should be (hence the FAQ) so it indicates that there might be a problem with the connection between the router and the computer (tested on other computers too without success).

I can't use one of microsoft adaptors because something is wrong with my usb ports. Or if it is possible am I able to connect a WET54G? I'm not looking to play online just get connected wirelessly. View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a E2000 wireless router. After my internet was slow for a few days, I figured out that the router was slowing down my internet.
Here's what happens: When my PC is connected directly to the cable (I am connected to a university network, so no modem), everything is fine and a speed test (url...) shows the speed as 400 Mbps(200 Mbps upload) or more.Once I add the router and connect my PC through the router, the speed test result drops to less than 200 Mbps(100 Mbps for upload). I tried this several times, testing with the same server.At the same time, when I try to open pages, "Sending request"(Chrome) takes for ever! sometimes it stays at "Sending request" for 15 seconds. This happens even google.com, so it's not the Web server.
I have an E2000 Wireless N Router setup to use WPA2/AES. I have Comcast cable internet service and I just upgraded to the 50Mbps speed. I have a Motorola Surfboard modem (DOCSIS 3.0).
If I connect my computer directly to the modem or to one of the ports on the E2000 I get great speeds sometimes up to 60Mbps but on average I am getting 45-48Mbps which is acceptable.
When I try to connect the same computer to the E2000 wirelessly my speed tests return a horrible 18-22Mbps. When I run these tests the computer is in the same room as the router. As I move throughout my house the speed tests are the same. My wireless connection speed to my laptop is good 144Mbps and 300Mbps depending on the band (2.4 or 5.0).
I have tried to use the 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz using different channels. I have also tried different "N Transmission Rate" settings. One of them (5 - 52Mpbs) does increase the speed to around 25-26Mpbs but that is all.
Strangely (or maybe not) the upload speeds are consistent on all of the tests at around 12Mpbs.
I am using Speedtest.net and Speakeasy for all of my tests.
Is there anyway I can get my wireless download speed up to around 40Mpbs? Or am I going to have to run cables through my house to the devices where I need these high speeds?
I also have upgraded to the latest firmware version.(1.0.04)
Internet was working great a few days ago with my e2000 and comcast as my ISP. I've got a few devices connected through ethernet connections on the unit. We also connect to the e2000 wirelessly.Problems started yesterday with no internet. Last night I rebooted everything and still nothing works. Connected laptop to cable modem directly. Wasn't getting internet connectivity so I called Comcast. They reset my modem and everything started working fine. Now I can directly connect from cable modem to laptop and internet works fine. I try connecting the modem to the router and still no internet.

Once the time kick in, the E2000 will not route any internet access for any internal IP until the unit is power off and power on reboot.If that rule is disabled. then the E2000 will route all days and nights with no problem.Updated firmware to 1.0.0.4 already.I replaced the WRT45 because of the same problem a year ago. Now just about a year, this E2000 keeps blocking all traffic.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have in my possession three E2000 and I wanted to buy 3 more, but the model seems to not be on sale anymore so I bought his successor the E2500.In the E2000 I used the Internet Policy menu to block internet access of certain computer by entering their mac address.In the E2500, they seem to have removed this menu to replace it with a Parental Control menu, which offers far fewer options, basically you can only block a computer that is connected to the router, you can not block a pc by the ip or by his mac address.Is there a way to have a menu similar to Internet policy in the E2500? A hidden menu, or a different firmware?

I have spent approximately 8 hours troubleshooting the other 2 only to be told they're defective. So, I got a new one. Now, this one keeps cutting in and out. I want as my iPhone constantly switches from 3G to wifi on and over every minute. It really ticks me off! What can I do to fix this? This is a different issue than the original one (very slow) and 2nd (no signal). It's disappointing for a $90 router to do this. I also see the wireless icon on the router flash.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a Linksys E2000 router and a Brother MFC-7840W wireless printer and they don't seem to want to play nice together. The set-up process was fine and I can usually print wireless without a problem, but every so often I'll try to print and my computer will say that the printer is offline. Other computers on my network also show it as offline. The printer confirms it has an IP address, but even after power cycling it won't be picked up by my machines. I've even tried a full reset of the printer and re-configured it, at which point it is able to successfully obtain an IP address, but it still shows as offline on my PCs.
The only solution I have found is to powercycle the router. This always works. Now that's not a terribly inconvenient workaround most of the time, so I've been doing that for a few months now. It obviously implicates the router as the point of failure, but wireless internet access is not affected when the printer appears to be offline, so obviously some packets are getting through normally.

I just signed up for Charter's Ultra 100Mbps internet service. We confirmed it worked at that speed by connecting my Lenovo T520 laptop directly to the Motorola Cable modem. I acheived just over 102Mbps throughput down.Next, I plugged in the e4200 (v1) router to the modem, and the computer directly to that (wired), and the max performance I could see was right around 52Mbps. Wireless performance on wireless-n, 5Ghz, maxes out at around 42Mbps.I am concerned about the throughput dropping from 102Mbps to 52Mbps while directly WIRED to the router. That tells me that the router is definitely capping my throughput. I have turned off QOS, found the optimum MTU of 1468 (used the ping -f -l 1440 [url]...) to find the largest MTU that didn't spit out a fragmented message, and added 28 to that.
I am a bit baffled that this top of the line router which some have claimed to see >100Mbps performance over wireless alone, isn't able to achieve any higher than 52Mbps wired. I do have other devices plugged in, but none actively transferring. What could be capping the throughput? The router worked fine on 25Mbps service, but it seems unable to handle 100Mbps service.
I've got a problem with my new Linksys E1200 (v1) router. It cuts the bandwidth of my PPTP connection with ISP (which is 50 Mbps) down to about 12 Mpbs. My firmware is the latest one (v1.0.03 build 4). I've done some reading and found out that it's pretty common problem between Linksys E-Series routers and ISPs that use PPTP/L2TP.

Then checked it through the Valetplus router and the speed results are 8.5 Mbps. Both tests were wired in with same cable. Why this happens and if that is common with wifi routers?

I thought that with the E2500 being a dual band - I wouldn't have this issue as I thought the router would switch to the 5 Ghz frequency if there was interference on the lower band. Maybe I am not understanding how the dual band works.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy internet cut out last week and after calling my ISP I found out it was in fact my router that was causing the problem (regular connection to PPOE works fine). I've only had my E2000 about 2-3 months and have not had any problems with it. I've restarted the router, done a factory reset, upgraded the firmware, renewed the IP and still I cannot get any connectivity. I can access the router UI fine and I get a response from pinging it and also I have tried replacing the cables but that didn't fix the problem either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using E2000 currently and meet a wireless connection problem. The speed can up to 300M bps. When I confiured the E2000 to band auto (20-40mhz) and my wireless network card to work at also auto (20-40) mode, it always down to 144M speed when connection.
If I changed some settings in E2000's wireless configuration, in the status sheet I can see it works at 40MHZ. But after a while,(5-10 mins) it automaticly down to 20MHZ and my labtop connect only got a 144M speed.
how can I deal with that to make it always keep at 300M connection? Note the previous router I used to connect to my lattop can always keep that speed.
I have a Cisco E2000. When i connect to my cable modem directly, I get 30-35 MBps down and about 10 up. When I plug in to my E2000 it does that at first... but slowly over time, the speed degrades, usually down to about 5-6 down and 3-4 up. If I unplug the router, it typically restores full speed, but not for long (a few days maybe). Also, when I unplug the router, it is pretty hot.
