I have a cordless phone which broadcasts on 2.4ghz - when the phone is being used it cuts out the wifi. I thought that with the E2500 being a dual band - I wouldn't have this issue as I thought the router would switch to the 5 Ghz frequency if there was interference on the lower band. Maybe I am not understanding how the dual band works.
View 3 RepliesI'm having an issue with my work laptop. I'm just setting up a wireless connection for the first time. I bought the Linksys E1000. I have used this laptop at work and at hotels for a 54 MbPS connection. I set up the Linksys at home. It sees the network and will tell me that it is connection at 54 MbPS. Then it quickly goes down to 11 then 5.5 then 2. Eventually it runs so slow that I time out of the security portal at work because its so slow. Occasionally it even loses the network and has to find it again. I'm only about 20 feet away from where the router is located. I have hung up all cordless phones and turned off my cell phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have 2 land lines in our house and I have an Adsl system installed on one of them (lets say line2)The problem is when I connect the panasonic cordless phone to line1, after 15 to 30 mins the adsl malfunctions on line2!I have checked the line1 with another panasonic cordless phone (older model) and the problem doesn't persist.I have used adsl filter and it didn't work and I can't throw out our new phone and use the old one!

I am planning to set up a Wi-Fi network for a single story motel. It is C-shaped; about 300 feet along the longest side with "legs" of 120 and 70 feet.Until now I have only used that single WRT54g in the office for the entire property and it covers about half the property (left side.) My plan starts in the office (bottom left) with a WRT54g connected to the DSL modem as it always was. That would be connected to one of the E2500s in the middle so it can cover the most area. From there two others would shoot out to each corner (the other E2500 and the WAP54g). They will all be wired together with Cat 5e "riser cable". The routers will be placed in a wide open attic.
1. I have heard that N routers have a range of 150ft in every direction so that's why I'm putting one in the middle. Keep in mind that while the attic is open and wood constructed, the walls between rooms are concrete firewall and they haven't been wi-fi friendly.
2. Does starting with a B/G router at the modem mean the N routers will revert to B/G?
I have an E2500 running as a router/DHCP server. For reasons beyond the scope of this question, I am replacing the router and DHCP functions with a SonicWALL device. I would like to continue to use the E2500 as a wireless access point only, providing WiFi connection to the SonicWALL. How do I set up the E2500 for this purpose. I assume I switch off the DHCP server and NAT within the device. Is there a dedicated "access point" mode?

I have a Cisco e2500 dual band router.I have a cable modem pulling down 55mps.When I put it through my router I get 22mps wireless and 55mps wired. I want my wireless speed as fast as it can go!I have changed channels, I have gone with just wireless N I have done just Mixed. I contacted customer support and they won't talk to me since I am out of warranty (I just not got internet this fast).One small caveat - when I take the channel selection off auto and change to a preffered channel my one laptop drops connection a lot. We have two laptops and both get the same speed. (No I am not running speed tests with a bunch of other things running etc)

I've tried disconnecting router and restarting, plugging iPhone into iMac laptop, etc. (PC is hardwired into server and PC laptop, iMac laptop and former iPhone 3 all connected to wifi w/o difficulty.) Went to site of purchase (12/2011) of Lynksys E2500. They suggested might need to download a driver.how to locate and install updates to driver for E2500 to allow connection to iPhone 4S?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an existing home network with a D-link wireless router, IP 192.168.0.1. In the past, I set up another of the same model Dlink router as a WAP to extend my network by simply disabling DHCP and setting its IP to 192.168.0.100. Used the same SSID and passwords, worked flawlessly. Now, my WAP-router has failed and I purchased a LINKSYS E2500 to replace it in that function. I'm trying to configure it the same way but am having problems.The Linksys' IP is 192.168.1.1 by default. I hooked its LAN port to my laptop and accessed the setup page at 192.168.1.1. I changed the router IP to 192.168.0.200 and disabled DHCP. I saved settings, the router reset, and since, I am unable to re-connect to that router setup screen at either 192.168.0.200 OR the default 192.168.1.1. I reset the router to default and tried this multiple times but could never get back to the setup page (didn't even configure any wireless settings yet) after I made the IP change and disabled DHCP. With my previous router, this worked easily and flawlessly.
1. What am I doing wrong (ok, other than using Dlink components)?
2. Should these two different brand components work ok together llike this or is that a problem?
3. Why should unticking DHCP and/or changing the IP address as described make the device unreachable?
My WiFi is slow on my laptop and it keeps dropping my LG connect 4G phone.

I inserted the installation disc and started going through the process, but my hard drive on my MacBook so I couldn't finish setting up the router. I have borrowed someones PC laptop, but it doesn't have a CD drive. Is there any way I can set up the router on line or any other way? Will the set up work for Macs and PC's?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just upgraded my Linksys router from an older one to the E-2500 about a week ago. Everything is working great on my wired desktop and 3 wireless laptops except the printer will no longer work from any of the computers. I've checked the printer wireless settings and they are correct (ssid and password) and it says it's connected to the wlan. Each of the computers shows the printer is active and set to default BUT the port light on the back of the new router is not on. I have changed cables and still no light, the printer is set up for sharing and it did work a couple days ago but port light was on then.
I have not added anything that wasn't hooked up on my old router, I"m just trying to get what I had on the old router to work on the new one. Everytime I call support, they have me change something that messes up what a previous agent had me do. Now they want me to pay for a direct connection so they can upgrade my router firmware...they didn't even ask what version I already had which happen to be the same version that is available on [URL] so if I had agreed, I would have paid for nothing. I had already paid $29.99 for additional 14 day support on my old router only to find out I needed a new one.
I've been using Linksys routers for quite awhile but I'm just about ready to change brands. I would really like to give this E-2500 a chance.
I have a new e2500 router and want to use my old WRT54G2 to expand the range of the wireless to reach my detached garage. My house is wired with category 5e cabling, but not the garage, which is why i want to wireless to get expanded. I was hoping the the new e2500 would reach, but it doesn't. How I can do that?

I have a brand new Linksys E2500 router. I've got a router in room where my cable modem comes in. In center of house, I have another router, N Ultra Range PLUS, WRT160N.
My laptop, which I use in front room near that middle room router and my husband's desktop, also near that middle room have no problems. My desktop which is right next to the main router in back of house (where the cable modem is), has the weakest signal. I guess that's because the WRT160N is further away from it and has two walls to go through. But most of time signal was good - just not as good as the other two computers. And even when signal was Low, it never dropped connection.
Recently I got a new smart phone with WIFI. Anytime I have turned on the phone and used it, I often then have to refresh my wireless signal or reboot computer because it loses the connection. I read somewhere on internet that this may be because of the additional device but again, it doesn't effect the other two closer computers.
I am using an E2500 as an access point, which is working fine. I have an Ethernet cable on one of the LAN ports of the E2500 connected to a LAN port on my gateway router. The LAN address of the E2500 is 192.168.7.3 and the LAN address of the gateway router is 192.168.7.1. Clients on the E2500 wireless network have no problems getting to the Internet through the gateway router. Clients on the E2500 wireless network can reach the E2500 local management port at 192.168.7.3 on port 80. On the gateway router I am forwarding WAN port 8083 to LAN address 192.168.7.3 at port 80. But I cannot access the E2500 local management interface via the gateway router. The E2500 should see the request as from 192.168.3.1 due to NAT in the gateway router, right? I can reach any of my actual access points this way, just not a router being used as an access point. Security/design limitation of the router?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded from a WRTG 54 version 2 wireless router to the Linsksys E2500. The reason for the change is to send a stronger wireless signal strength further in my house. Setup was easy to my laptop and XBox 360 but my Samsung Internet TV is another story. I can get my tv to get the wireless signal but when I click on an app nothing but error messages. Often times it will say to check my dns settings but I am not that tech savvy and don't know what to do.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn my house we have ADSL2 Bigpond broadband internet and a Thomson TG782T modem/router and its been in my brother's room for a while and lately I've really been noticing the slow internet so I moved the modem/router to the kitchen as I figured it would give everyone an equal connection.The modem has a cable that goes to a DSL splitter and there is also a cable that goes from the phone to the splitter. On the other side of the splitter is a cable that goes to the wall socket. The cables that go from the phone and modem/router are short and the one from the splitter to the wall socket is quite long. The modem/router and the phone are right next to each other.I was playing COD on the Xbox and I noticed that at the time my Mum was on the phone I got the disconnect message. The connection kept settling but then a second later disconnecting and this happened frequently until she hung up the phone.

A few months ago I have started to see an issue where I lose connection to my internet on my laptop, and wifi on my phone at the same time. I have wifi calling on my phone and it disconnects also at the same time. All of a sudden, everything will stop working, then about 40 seconds later, it all works again. I lost the connection maybe every 30 to 60 mins. I rely on wifi calling for my primary phone, and I end up getting cut off when talking to people. BTW wifi calling is for all tmobile phones, but also normal wifi to surf the web on my laptop and phone drops too at the same time.

It worked for some times with an intermittent disconnection problem due to the iPhone locking. But even after unlocking the phone and reconnecting the Wi-Fi, Remote couldn't find my iTunes library again and my only workaround was to relaunch iTunes on the PC (which is Ethernet-wired to my router). Few days ago nothing worked!!! I could no more get Remote to find iTunes.
I could not find a solution even by rebooting the router or unplugging the PC's Ethernet cable. Last night I powered off the router and after 10s I powered it on again. And then it worked!I highly suspect a problem between my router and Bonjour which is as UPnP, an Apple protocol for discovering communicating devices. Discovery phase being usually done with broadcast frames, something goes wrong in the router with processing the broadcasts, or is it a Bonjour problem?Please note that even now that Remote can find iTunes, I still have my old intermittent disconnection problem.So is there any incompatibility between WRT-610N and Bonjour and what is the fix ?
I have a wrt160n v3. This is the 3rd one - both the first 2 were defective. I have spent approximately 8 hours troubleshooting the other 2 only to be told they're defective. So, I got a new one. Now, this one keeps cutting in and out. I want as my iPhone constantly switches from 3G to wifi on and over every minute. It really ticks me off! What can I do to fix this? This is a different issue than the original one (very slow) and 2nd (no signal). It's disappointing for a $90 router to do this. I also see the wireless icon on the router flash.

I just signed up for Charter's Ultra 100Mbps internet service. We confirmed it worked at that speed by connecting my Lenovo T520 laptop directly to the Motorola Cable modem. I acheived just over 102Mbps throughput down.Next, I plugged in the e4200 (v1) router to the modem, and the computer directly to that (wired), and the max performance I could see was right around 52Mbps. Wireless performance on wireless-n, 5Ghz, maxes out at around 42Mbps.I am concerned about the throughput dropping from 102Mbps to 52Mbps while directly WIRED to the router. That tells me that the router is definitely capping my throughput. I have turned off QOS, found the optimum MTU of 1468 (used the ping -f -l 1440 [url]...) to find the largest MTU that didn't spit out a fragmented message, and added 28 to that.
I am a bit baffled that this top of the line router which some have claimed to see >100Mbps performance over wireless alone, isn't able to achieve any higher than 52Mbps wired. I do have other devices plugged in, but none actively transferring. What could be capping the throughput? The router worked fine on 25Mbps service, but it seems unable to handle 100Mbps service.
I've got a problem with my new Linksys E1200 (v1) router. It cuts the bandwidth of my PPTP connection with ISP (which is 50 Mbps) down to about 12 Mpbs. My firmware is the latest one (v1.0.03 build 4). I've done some reading and found out that it's pretty common problem between Linksys E-Series routers and ISPs that use PPTP/L2TP.

Then checked it through the Valetplus router and the speed results are 8.5 Mbps. Both tests were wired in with same cable. Why this happens and if that is common with wifi routers?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have wrt610n that i have wd 1 tb drive hooked to usb port and when i try to copy large folder/files to it, i get the dreaded- cancel, try again skip and it locks up solid. i have treied all settings in these and other forums. i have tried two different brand size hard drives, i have tried wireless and wired and nothing. is there a fix for this. i have latest firmware on everything, i have everything set tweaked best as they can and not one things makes a differance. all i get from linksys is try this try that. is there a way to copy large files to hd first via the pc then hook back to the router to see the files?

I have about 20 devices which i'm allowing to access my router, so i keyed in the MAC addresses into the config page and save setting. But only 16 addresses are registered, the rest refused to register no matter how many times i key in, it just reset back to 00:00:00:00:00:00 after i click on save setting.
