I am able to print from Windows computers that are connected to this router (via WiFi of course). My iPad 2.0 is able to connect to the internet via the router. However I am not able to print content from my iPad via the E4200 router (via Wifi using Cisco Connect software).

I clicked on setup and a window opened with the message "Unsupported operating system".At this point I don't plan to use the Wi-Fi for the computer, but I do need to connect the ethernet cable to the router, then to my computer.I will be using Wi-Fi for my iPad. In that case, I have no instructions on how to set up the router for my iPad. Will this Wi-Fi router work or will I need a router compatible with OS X version 10.8.2?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed a refurbished E2500 router. The reported speeds I got when hovering over the icon in the system tray ranged from 54 Mbps down to 1.0 Mbps. Also, it would drop, then reestablish, the connection several times per day.I contacted Tech Support via Live Chat, and got a woman who told me it was due to the fact that I'm using the router with an older system that has a wireless-G card (I'll be getting a new system soon).Of course, I thought that was ridiculous, so I called Linksys Tech Support and got a young man who had me reinstall the firmware upgrade (which I had already done when I installed the router). After that, it was good for about 24 hours, then the problems manifested again.I returned the router and ordered a replacement, also refrubished. Again, I upgraded the firmware upon installation. .

But when I tried to connect my Acer One netbook, the "Cisco Connect" loaded up to 25% & then I couldn't connect to the internet. I've contacted Tech Support & they suggested downloading the latest wireless adapter driver. I contacted Acer & they said it sounded like a security issue on my netbook. I was out of warranty so they'd have to charge $150 for tech support.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust replaced a long-serving WRT54GS with an E2500 to gain a single feature… DHCP reservations for a bunch of web cams around my home. So far, the owner/user-experience with the 2500 has not been as positive as it was for the 54 or any of it's predecessors here and at my business. They just worked when you set them up, and once set up, they stayed set up. Zero futzing around with details. Some issues I'm seeking more expert input on:
My Panasonic Viera DVD/blueray player can access the web. Worked fine on the 54… access "Network" and 50% of the time it would join the network then and the other 50% of the time, you had to try a second time which I presume was the time it took for the device to gain access to the network. With the 2500, you can't ever (so far) get on by selecting "Network"… you have to go into the sub menu and have it dwell in the Network menu where it appears to make an ongoing effort to get onto the network. About 30% of the time, you get on… the other 70% no joy.My HP wireless printer will join the network if you dive into its menu system and tell it to look for the network. However, sitting at any of the computers on the network, you can't "get the printer's attention"… it just doesn't join and the print fails. You go over and use the printer's menu manually to get it on and it stays on for a short time, but it soon quits and that's the ball game.My Google Nexus One phone is a slightly different experience… it goes off the network as soon as you shut the screen down but, it seems like it comes back when you turn it on. With the 54, it seemingly remained in touch with the network better… things came in over the net while it was in my pocket. So, works better than the other two but I don't see why it goes away when on the 54 router, it didn't seem to.
In case it matters, this system is set up with DHCP, WPA2/personal and MAC filtering as was the case on the router(s) it is replacing. UPnP has been disabled. On 1.0.03 of the firmware. There are 6 DHCP reservations which also receive port forwards. I have adjusted the Beacon Interval, Frag threshold and RTS threshold for both frequencies and the MTU, all in accordance with recommendations under the support area for this site. Since everything worked well for both the 54 and its predecessor, I have to believe it's the 2500 that's the problem.
I just bought an E2500 router, and am only getting a fraction of the speed I do by connecting without it. Both wireless and wired through the router I'm getting about 1 mbps, while without it I'm getting about 10 mbps.
I do live in an apartment, so I'd understand if there were some wireless interference going on, but would that explain away the wired issues too? I've also tried changing the channel (though only of the 2.4 GHz connection), and that's not working any.
I have a Linksys E2500 and I'm trying to connect it to my ISP provided router (Actiontec V1000H) because I wanted better range and consistent connectivity for my 6+ wireless devices. My problem is that, to make this work, I connected an Ethernet cable from the E2500's yellow internet port to one of my V1000H's LAN ports. This, however, did not give me access to the internet even though the network for my E2500 was available in the network list and selected as the default network. I then had to go the the advanced settings of the E2500, and changed the router IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.2. This granted me internet access. However, everyone i've talked to including coworkers and experts at dslreports said that, because of what I've done I've set up a double NAT with 2 potentially conflicting IP addresses, and down the road weird issues will arise because of it. They also suggested I connect the E2500 to a dedicated modem to avoid this problem. However, the dedicated modem I was sent was faulty and did not allow internet access even through the ethernet connection. So, until I get a new dedicated modem, I have to use the router/modem combo. What should I do? Should I set up the E2500 as just a wireless access point for my existing router/modem combo? What do I need to edit in the advanced settings?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhere I work, we have four computers connected on a network with a Telus combination router and modem (I should probably also mention that two of the computers are connected to a switch which is then connected to the Telus modem/router because that is how the previous tenants set it up) . Recently, my boss wanted to have two different wi-fis, one as a guest wireless and a password one for the employees so he bought a Cisco E2500. I set up the second router as a wireless access point, but eventually we started getting problems with IP conflicts which started messing with the work group connections.
How I'd go about setting up the E2500 properly so that there are no problems like I've been having (having to reset the modem/router constantly for the internet to work, computers being assigned different IP addresses and problems connecting to the server over the workgroup network).
I have the following equipment
E2500 wireless N router (2 of these)
WRT54g router (B/G)
WAP54g access point (B/G)
I am planning to set up a Wi-Fi network for a single story motel. It is C-shaped; about 300 feet along the longest side with "legs" of 120 and 70 feet.Until now I have only used that single WRT54g in the office for the entire property and it covers about half the property (left side.) My plan starts in the office (bottom left) with a WRT54g connected to the DSL modem as it always was. That would be connected to one of the E2500s in the middle so it can cover the most area. From there two others would shoot out to each corner (the other E2500 and the WAP54g). They will all be wired together with Cat 5e "riser cable". The routers will be placed in a wide open attic.
1. I have heard that N routers have a range of 150ft in every direction so that's why I'm putting one in the middle. Keep in mind that while the attic is open and wood constructed, the walls between rooms are concrete firewall and they haven't been wi-fi friendly.
2. Does starting with a B/G router at the modem mean the N routers will revert to B/G?
I want to install wireless router in my home. It is 200 Square metres. Usb port does not meter for me. I want to connect 2 laptop 3 mobile phone via wlan. Which will be better E2500 or E3200 to cover whole area? P.S my internet speed is 40mbps

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an existing home network with a D-link wireless router, IP 192.168.0.1. In the past, I set up another of the same model Dlink router as a WAP to extend my network by simply disabling DHCP and setting its IP to 192.168.0.100. Used the same SSID and passwords, worked flawlessly. Now, my WAP-router has failed and I purchased a LINKSYS E2500 to replace it in that function. I'm trying to configure it the same way but am having problems. The Linksys' IP is 192.168.1.1 by default. I hooked its LAN port to my laptop and accessed the setup page at 192.168.1.1. I changed the router IP to 192.168.0.200 and disabled DHCP. I saved settings, the router reset, and since, I am unable to re-connect to that router setup screen at either 192.168.0.200 OR the default 192.168.1.1. I reset the router to default and tried this multiple times but could never get back to the setup page (didn't even configure any wireless settings yet) after I made the IP change and disabled DHCP. With my previous router, this worked easily and flawlessly.
1. What am I doing wrong (ok, other than using Dlink components)?
2. Should these two different brand components work ok together llike this or is that a problem?
3. Why should unticking DHCP and/or changing the IP address as described make the device unreachable?
I have a cordless phone which broadcasts on 2.4ghz - when the phone is being used it cuts out the wifi. I thought that with the E2500 being a dual band - I wouldn't have this issue as I thought the router would switch to the 5 Ghz frequency if there was interference on the lower band. Maybe I am not understanding how the dual band works.

Everything is working great on my wired desktop and 3 wireless laptops except the printer will no longer work from any of the computers. I've checked the printer wireless settings and they are correct (ssid and password) and it says it's connected to the wlan. Each of the computers shows the printer is active and set to default BUT the port light on the back of the new router is not on. I have changed cables and still no light, the printer is set up for sharing and it did work a couple days ago but port light was on then.
I have not added anything that wasn't hooked up on my old router, I"m just trying to get what I had on the old router to work on the new one. Everytime I call support, they have me change something that messes up what a previous agent had me do. Now they want me to pay for a direct connection so they can upgrade my router firmware...they didn't even ask what version I already had which happen to be the same version that is available on [URL] so if I had agreed, I would have paid for nothing. I had already paid $29.99 for additional 14 day support on my old router only to find out I needed a new one.
I've been using Linksys routers for quite awhile but I'm just about ready to change brands. I would really like to give this E-2500 a chance.

The LAN address of the E2500 is 192.168.7.3 and the LAN address of the gateway router is 192.168.7.1. Clients on the E2500 wireless network have no problems getting to the Internet through the gateway router. Clients on the E2500 wireless network can reach the E2500 local management port at 192.168.7.3 on port 80. On the gateway router I am forwarding WAN port 8083 to LAN address 192.168.7.3 at port 80. But I cannot access the E2500 local management interface via the gateway router. The E2500 should see the request as from 192.168.3.1 due to NAT in the gateway router, right? I can reach any of my actual access points this way, just not a router being used as an access point. Security/design limitation of the router?

Internet service is Uverse.Given the wiring situation, I bought a netgear universal dual band range extender which connects wirelessly to the uverse router in another room. My home office equipment (computer, printer) are wired into the netgear. All of that works fine. The netgear is 192.168.1.66. The computer is 192.168.1.128. So, I wanted to add the E1550 into my network. I can see it as an attached device on the Netgear's admin page, but cisco connect and a direct ip http://192.168.1.68 does not resolve. I have the e1550 connected via a lan port on the netgear extender (there is no other option). I have gone from that lan port to the internet port on the e1550. I have done so with a staight Cat5 cable and with what I believe should be a cross-over. In both situations, I see the router via the netgear admin page but can not connect to it. I'd prefer not the hang my usb drive off of my computer because it if gets turned off or reboots due to a MS Windows auto update, it leaves the rest of the house with no shared media during that process.
