I am having trouble with my internet speed at my computer my provder says the speed is fine from their end 100mbps but when i check the speed at my end i am only getting 32mbps the other clue is when I am on a web page it constantky flickers. I have reset the router by turning off the power and then back on the other thing i have done is change the ethernet cable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI run vista home premium through a Netgear DG834PN and use an iPad for surfing, emails etc wirelessly.I live in a 3 bed detached house and the router is running in the office upstairs probably 4 metres away max.The house is substantial being ex MOD.My Internet connection is not the best and at max I get around 1.4meg and often far less so I need to maximise my equipment. My speed dropped to less than 0.5meg this morning and it increased again after changing router channels from 11 to 1 but as my speeds fluctuate this could have been coincidental. although the speeds were very low for around 2 weeks running at less than 0.5meg it increased just prior to referral to Openreach so apparently BT would not accept as fault due to line being within parameters.Finally I was using a router supplied by them direct into the master socket and this was no better than my own, so are there any better routers I could purchase to maximise my speed and wireless connection?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit.All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.

But me and my co-worker have little bit different mind about replications are running in same time. I thought there is no difference for total time between one by one and all running in same. But co-worker saying one by one is much quicker.

I have a small e6400 machine, 4 gb ram, Win 7 Pro 32, 1gigabit connection, hardwired to the router. This one is hooked up to the TV. I want to stream my movie/tv collection from my gamin PC, which is on the other side of the room to the TV. The gaming machine/server has 4 drives, with a dedicated 1tb drive for video storage. The machine connected to the TV has one 300 gb drive. Right now, I am getting 1.8 mbps transfer speeds. This is causing very choppy playback. I am using VLC for playback. I am using WPA2 for network security.
How can i increase my transfer speeds across the network? Is 1.8mbps as good as it gets?
I have a data card with max. speed of 3.1mbps but i get only abt 1/3rd of it so i was thinking to buy a longer data cable as i saw on some site that the speed increases.

Set this up last night and it went very easy with the excellent instructions. Transfer rate from computer A to computer B (wired) of a 1 gb file was 12 mb/s and that was from SATA 3 to SATA 3 discs. Using a gigabyte router those values were 55.5 mb/s. Even though this router is only 10/100 that speed is unacceptable. Is there a tip to increase that speed to an expected and reasonable value?Also, the router just quit for no apparent reason and needed a reboot. What are common causes that I might look into to see why this happened.
My Main computer (which has a wired connection to router) internet is running so slow, i mean so slow that i cannot even do a speed test, it keeps failing, im continuously getting server timed out messages when browsing, and to watch a youtube video of 1 minute long it will take about 5 - 10 minutes to stream it before i can watch it. However despite the above the two laptops and ipad work great, i have a braodband speed of around 16megs. Now here is everything i have done so far. After calling my ISP to se if it was their fault, which it turned out not to be, they got me to change all the DNS and IP settings to manual, they gave me all the numbers to put in. Again that did not work so i used namebench to find the quickest DNS servers for me, that didnt work ethier so i just reverted all settings back to automatic as they were before.

However I went on holiday for a few days, and so I turned all the plugs off at the wall(something I never do) and since I got home im getting speed of around 20-25mb. I called the engineer out but he wasnt able to do anything because when he connected it to his laptop, he was getting speeds of 47mb. He said he didnt know why i was getting such a slow speed through my desktop, just said it must have something to do with my computer.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen wired to the router I consistently get 10meg up and down, so the connection itself is fine. When I use wireless on my laptop, I get around 0.1meg down and 10meg up. The router is fine because I still get 10meg up and down testing on my iPhone, and the laptop is fine because I get 8meg up and down on my friend's wireless network. There must be something specific that's incompatible between my laptop and my router. I've already tried changing the channel, used inSSIDer to pick unoccupied channels (4+8) with no occupied channels either side. Using N-only mode, channel bonding, tried protected mode on and off, QoS on and off.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI had a power surge caused by the local electrical provider on February 3, 2011. Since then my computer power source was replaced and the computer works okay. Since the power surge my speed to uploading and downloading on the internet is inconsistent. Time Warner, my internet provider, said it was an internet problem and they replaced the modem, and have worked on their lines multiple times and now say it's a computer problem, not with their wiring. Yesterday I could not get an upload or download signal at all. This morning my download was 29.23 and upload 1.91. Some days it will take 4-5 yours to send an e-mail. I don't know what to do.
