I am having trouble with my internet speed at my computer my provder says the speed is fine from their end 100mbps but when i check the speed at my end i am only getting 32mbps the other clue is when I am on a web page it constantky flickers. I have reset the router by turning off the power and then back on the other thing i have done is change the ethernet cable.
I run vista home premium through a Netgear DG834PN and use an iPad for surfing, emails etc wirelessly.I live in a 3 bed detached house and the router is running in the office upstairs probably 4 metres away max.The house is substantial being ex MOD.My Internet connection is not the best and at max I get around 1.4meg and often far less so I need to maximise my equipment. My speed dropped to less than 0.5meg this morning and it increased again after changing router channels from 11 to 1 but as my speeds fluctuate this could have been coincidental. although the speeds were very low for around 2 weeks running at less than 0.5meg it increased just prior to referral to Openreach so apparently BT would not accept as fault due to line being within parameters. Finally I was using a router supplied by them direct into the master socket and this was no better than my own, so are there any better routers I could purchase to maximise my speed and wireless connection?
Are the users' download speeds depend on the hosting company's owner's internet speed? Let say if I was running my own server with my internet speed 1mb and LAN 100mbps, are my clients' download speeds restricted to maximum 1mb of any content from my server?
So 3 days from now im getting comcast cable....12 mbps download and 3mbps upload (something like that)I want to know if I can host servers in online games such as... modern warfare 2 and black ops...pretty much any popular first person shooter. I noticed that every game I play I am not host and I am lagging...my current connection is 2.5 MBPS download and 0.4 MBPS upload.
My company has 2 sites. Between them we have 100 MGB link. We do replication every day our data. Recently we had a issue on replication then we stopped about 20 replication. And now issue is fixed, we are started replication. Average replication is 75%, we need to reach it 100% ASAP. But me and my co-worker have little bit different mind about replications are running in same time. I thought there is no difference for total time between one by one and all running in same. But co-worker saying one by one is much quicker.
I uploaded an .avi media file, which filled 2.81GB and it took me 7 hours!I was like holy ***, how is it even possible for it to take so long time for an file that only fills 2.81GB?

I just got a new modem and was also hoping to boost the speed of my router without buying a new one. Are there any ways to increase the speed of the modem i already have?
I am having issues with transfer speed on my network. I have a D-Link DIR-655 wireless N router. Two PC's. My gaming PC is also a server of sorts. E6600, 4 gb of RAM, Wireless N PCI card, Win 7 Pro 64.
I have a small e6400 machine, 4 gb ram, Win 7 Pro 32, 1gigabit connection, hardwired to the router. This one is hooked up to the TV. I want to stream my movie/tv collection from my gamin PC, which is on the other side of the room to the TV. The gaming machine/server has 4 drives, with a dedicated 1tb drive for video storage. The machine connected to the TV has one 300 gb drive. Right now, I am getting 1.8 mbps transfer speeds. This is causing very choppy playback. I am using VLC for playback. I am using WPA2 for network security.
How can i increase my transfer speeds across the network? Is 1.8mbps as good as it gets?
I have a data card with max. speed of 3.1mbps but i get only abt 1/3rd of it so i was thinking to buy a longer data cable as i saw on some site that the speed increases.
Our client having one c3750 with ipbase license switch. They are connected server and end switches to that switch. Our customer want to increase the speed to accessing the server at that time I am told to use etherchannel.Customer happy about this and implement the etherchannel configuration. Now i need to configure etherchannel upto 4 physical link.server are connected on port no Ge1/0/10,they want to bind four phical link GE1/0/10-13.how to configure etherchannel in this switch?
Set this up last night and it went very easy with the excellent instructions. Transfer rate from computer A to computer B (wired) of a 1 gb file was 12 mb/s and that was from SATA 3 to SATA 3 discs. Using a gigabyte router those values were 55.5 mb/s. Even though this router is only 10/100 that speed is unacceptable. Is there a tip to increase that speed to an expected and reasonable value? Also, the router just quit for no apparent reason and needed a reboot. What are common causes that I might look into to see why this happened.
I have RADIUS servers configured to authenticate administrative users and authorize them at a low level. This is working well. I also have a local level-15 user in case all of my RADIUS servers time out and someone needs to change something. This also works well. The issue I'm having is that a low-level user can log on using the RADIUS severs, then issue the "login" command and enter the local level-15 user's credentials and then operate at level 15.
I do not want the local account to work at all, except in the case that all RADIUS servers are unavailable. What I've described above works around this. How to disable the "login" command or force it to try RADIUS servers first? This is for ASA 8.2
On my old 2511 access server, I could issue "clear line x" to close a session on an existing line.this doesn't seem to work on my new 2600XM with NM-16A access server (12.3(20)IOS), any command in newer IOS?
I am using Reliance Netconnect which gives me maximum speed of 100 kbps of surfing and 5-8 kbps of download speed.how I can increase surfing and download speed by using same data card.
Living in a student house in the UK, under Orange ISP in central Manchester. My 5 housemates are connected wirelessly to the same router, and are all receiving much faster download speeds (2 megabytes per second etc), and consistant connections than mine (which goes up to 2 megabytes per second, to under 1 kilobyte), yet they may be further away in the house etc.My wireless connection speed varies, changing every second between parameters 54.0mbps, to 1mbps, and ping on ventrillo VoIP software going between 16 and believe it or not, 16,000. I've tried changing the wireless channels, but still no luck, as for connections to game servers, my internet is so bad I can't tell if I've got to do port forwarding/triggering (something along those lines), or if it's just too awful to connect full stop. I'll get to a log in screen, some games like HoN, it will say connecting to server, and appear to time out, nothing happens. Guild wars 2 however logs in, however the second I appear in-game it freezes and lags out.I've contemplated getting a powerline adapter, however if everyone else is getting better wireless speeds and having no issues what-so-ever, it may be on my PC's end, and I'll have wasted £30. A 20M ethernet cable isn't practical either, as student houses have forced closure fire doors which would chew the cable to bits in days, and if a drunk housemate tripped over it on the stairs, they'd rip the back of my PC out...
what fields of IT increase internet availability. I have lived in South Korea for the last six months. I can't say how much better life is because there seems to be universal high-speed internet access, even at 24/7 fast food places like Dunkin' Donuts, McDonalds, etc.).
I have a new setup in my home due to the increase in devices needing internet access.I bought a 8 port netgear switch and have it connected to my router. My question is this, will the speed/performance of my internet be lower(via switch) compared to if I was just connected straight to the router,
I currently have a dlink dir-655 in my basement. my computer on the second floor is connected via DWA-160. I Only have around 2-3 signal bars, and never get the 300mbs like described. i would like to know all the possibilities to extend my range (to have 5 bars) or get better connection speed. do you recommend an access point or an extender? Which models? also, if i have an dir-615, can i use it as an acesspoint/range extender for my computer on the 2nd floor? if so, how? I am looking for the cheapest alternative in order to have better signal and speed. The modem is stuck in the basement therefore I cannot move it.
