Jan 11, 2011I am having trouble with my internet speed at my computer my provder says the speed is fine from their end 100mbps but when i check the speed at my end i am only getting 32mbps the other clue is when I am on a web page it constantky flickers. I have reset the router by turning off the power and then back on the other thing i have done is change the ethernet cable.

Feb 9, 2011I run vista home premium through a Netgear DG834PN and use an iPad for surfing, emails etc wirelessly.I live in a 3 bed detached house and the router is running in the office upstairs probably 4 metres away max.The house is substantial being ex MOD.My Internet connection is not the best and at max I get around 1.4meg and often far less so I need to maximise my equipment. My speed dropped to less than 0.5meg this morning and it increased again after changing router channels from 11 to 1 but as my speeds fluctuate this could have been coincidental. although the speeds were very low for around 2 weeks running at less than 0.5meg it increased just prior to referral to Openreach so apparently BT would not accept as fault due to line being within parameters.Finally I was using a router supplied by them direct into the master socket and this was no better than my own, so are there any better routers I could purchase to maximise my speed and wireless connection?

So, now I want to use BOTH internet connections simultaneously. However, both connections will still be separate and not combined:If I had to transfer big files, then I could do this on network A.Now, I want to use network B for other "normal" internet use so that the transfer of files in network A gets the maximum speed since there is no interference with anything else.I have to let the computer know somehow that there are two connections used simultaneously. I also have to setup what programs use what connection. E.g., IE uses network a and Firefox uses network b, program "x" also uses network b, etc.I would use two network card/USB Wifi Adapers so that each network card/wifi adapter can connect to one network.how do you realize that without setting a Virtual Machine up?

Aug 10, 2012I am using linksys cisco wag120n adsl2 modem router.When I start the router the internet speed seems great but after some time the speed drops miserably. When I again restart the router the speed seems great for few mins but again drops after sometime.It happens in both LAN and wireless mode.The firmware version of the router is 1.00.16
I was going through the problems posted by some other user but observed that cisco people are not heraing to them.Seems made a mistake by associating with cisco product.This is the worst router I have ever used.The wireless also gets disconnected abruptly.Next time I'll avoid cisco.Cisco is all about stone age products and zero customer care.

Jul 29, 2011I am having issues with transfer speed on my network. I have a D-Link DIR-655 wireless N router. Two PC's. My gaming PC is also a server of sorts. E6600, 4 gb of RAM, Wireless N PCI card, Win 7 Pro 64.
I have a small e6400 machine, 4 gb ram, Win 7 Pro 32, 1gigabit connection, hardwired to the router. This one is hooked up to the TV. I want to stream my movie/tv collection from my gamin PC, which is on the other side of the room to the TV. The gaming machine/server has 4 drives, with a dedicated 1tb drive for video storage. The machine connected to the TV has one 300 gb drive. Right now, I am getting 1.8 mbps transfer speeds. This is causing very choppy playback. I am using VLC for playback. I am using WPA2 for network security.
How can i increase my transfer speeds across the network? Is 1.8mbps as good as it gets?

Set this up last night and it went very easy with the excellent instructions. Transfer rate from computer A to computer B (wired) of a 1 gb file was 12 mb/s and that was from SATA 3 to SATA 3 discs. Using a gigabyte router those values were 55.5 mb/s. Even though this router is only 10/100 that speed is unacceptable. Is there a tip to increase that speed to an expected and reasonable value?Also, the router just quit for no apparent reason and needed a reboot. What are common causes that I might look into to see why this happened.

Aug 13, 2011My kid is heading off to college with a Toshiba Satellite E-205 laptop and a Kodak ESP Office 2150 printer. She would like to use the wireless printer option on the Kodak, which requires a wireless router. I have a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router that I can send with her.
I know her university has a very robust wireless system for Internet access, so she is going to want to use their wireless access.
So, the DIR-655 sole use will be to allow access to the printer. It will not be accessing the Internet or be cabled into the university's network.
Is it possible to operate TWO wireless connections at the same time so she can hit her university wireless and the DIR-655 so she can print wirelessly?
how do I configure the laptop and the DIR-655 to allow this kind of access?

Apr 19, 2012Any input on this: We had a DMZ server that customers used to get to their information. This sever was the front end to get to the host that holds the customer information. The server was in a DMZ, the path from Server to host was: through DMZ switch, through firewall to 6509 switch to the host. We never had a problem with this, the server application was old but worked great.
We have since moved to having someone host the front end. The front end connects via Internet to their third party router, to the same DMZ switch through same firewall, to same 6509 to host. The third party router is configured with VPN tunnel to remote end. Connection comes through Internet to their router and is Na Ted then goes to DMZ, to host.
Internet---E1 (Router NAT) E0 ---ASA---6509---Host
We have had nothing but trouble with this connection. Customers are complaining because the connections time out so much. We see a lot of tcp resets on the host to the Router NAT ip address (which is the DMZ side interface). The resets usually show "Invalid Query Header Length". The current connection is capped at 1Mbps, with average response times of 50ms (spikes to 200).
They keep telling us that something is wrong with the host, but I have to believe the latency is causing us problems. I can see that bandwidth seems to be enough as I do not see the interfaces utilizing that much, averages about 300K. I was wondering could the IOS NAT be contributing to the problem as well?

Nov 25, 2012Two days ago I booted my laptop and found that I'm not able to connect to the internet via LAN. It didn't detect a connection, even though my cable was plugged in. It was able to detect the wifi networks from my neighbors, but that's not an option, i need the LAN. I changed absolutely nothing,nno updates, downloads, ... It just came out of nowhere.I already eliminated a cable problem, the laptop from my roommate was able to connect without a problem.When I plug the cable in mine, the lights on the port flicker, making me believe that it's not a problem with my port either.it's definitely a computer problem, but I'm not sure if it's my computer or my network adapter that's being a PITA.When I go to the Device Manager, the network adapter (broadcom 802.11g) is fine, no red x or yellow exclamation point. i have already tried turning it on and off, and uninstalling and then rebooting, no avail.
