New Setup Due To The Increase In Devices Of Internet
Jul 9, 2011
I have a new setup in my home due to the increase in devices needing internet access.I bought a 8 port netgear switch and have it connected to my router. My question is this, will the speed/performance of my internet be lower(via switch) compared to if I was just connected straight to the router,
what fields of IT increase internet availability. I have lived in South Korea for the last six months. I can't say how much better life is because there seems to be universal high-speed internet access, even at 24/7 fast food places like Dunkin' Donuts, McDonalds, etc.).
I am having trouble with my internet speed at my computer my provder says the speed is fine from their end 100mbps but when i check the speed at my end i am only getting 32mbps the other clue is when I am on a web page it constantky flickers. I have reset the router by turning off the power and then back on the other thing i have done is change the ethernet cable.
I currently have a dlink dir-655 in my basement. my computer on the second floor is connected via DWA-160. I Only have around 2-3 signal bars, and never get the 300mbs like described. i would like to know all the possibilities to extend my range (to have 5 bars) or get better connection speed. do you recommend an access point or an extender? Which models? also, if i have an dir-615, can i use it as an acesspoint/range extender for my computer on the 2nd floor? if so, how? I am looking for the cheapest alternative in order to have better signal and speed. The modem is stuck in the basement therefore I cannot move it.
what i type in run box to increase INTERNET speed i saw my net provider doing this just little bit time he just type in run box ping o (.......................)/ and some numbers like IP address and then black window opened and INTERNET speed increase tell me what i type in my run box to increase speed.
I run vista home premium through a Netgear DG834PN and use an iPad for surfing, emails etc wirelessly.I live in a 3 bed detached house and the router is running in the office upstairs probably 4 metres away max.The house is substantial being ex MOD.My Internet connection is not the best and at max I get around 1.4meg and often far less so I need to maximise my equipment. My speed dropped to less than 0.5meg this morning and it increased again after changing router channels from 11 to 1 but as my speeds fluctuate this could have been coincidental. although the speeds were very low for around 2 weeks running at less than 0.5meg it increased just prior to referral to Openreach so apparently BT would not accept as fault due to line being within parameters. Finally I was using a router supplied by them direct into the master socket and this was no better than my own, so are there any better routers I could purchase to maximise my speed and wireless connection?
I am trying to setup a hard drive through my network to be recognized on all my devices. Here is what I have:
router: Belkin n300 max share F7D7301 modem: RCA cable modem Internet provider: Teksavvy (through a Rogers line) Hard drive: WD Elements 2TB HD (formatted NTFS) Antivirus: AVG Free ps3 laptop (running xp) galaxy s3
The ps3 is wired into the router, the laptop and s3 are wireless. I have connected my hard drive to one of the USB drives on the router. I can see the HD and view any of its content (movies and music) on the laptop, but nothing else. My ps3 and s3 are connected to the internet, however I can't find the drive.
I have a Cisco-Linksys WRT310N V2 Wireless-N Gigabit Router and was wondering if there is a setting (which I could not find in the admin control panel) to increase the range to catch internet connection. My house is large, and one portion has a bad connection to it because the router is sitting upstairs on the other end. If there is no setting, is there a external add on I can get to increase the internet range?
LMS discoverd all my devices and updated the DCR. This devices are visible in DFM. For some of this devices i would like to change the threshold values. For some reason the devices are not visible in Monitor->Fault Settings->Seup->Threshold Settings (please see screenshot) Is there another approach to change the threshold values?
I have a ACS 4.2 under windows, I setuped it to authenticate routers by RADIUS and TACACS+ protocols. now I have some devices whitch know only LDAP protocol. How can setup ACS as a ldap server to authenticate those devices?>
We have a Cisco 887 router and a Cisco SG-200 switch. We'd like to setup trunking between these 2 devices for multiple VLANs on the switch to be made available on the router.
With previous routers, you could set the router up in the configuration 'router-on-a-stick' and VLANs worked like a charm but the 887 no longer support sub-interfaces.So how can you get trunking working between the 2 devices?
Is there a VTP configuration menu for the SG-200 which we can setup in order for it to talk 'VTP' with the 887 router??
I setup several devices in the Parental Controls to be blocked always. These devices are still able to connect to the router. I tried rebooting the router but the problem persists. I have two laptops and two iPod Touches that can connect regardless of the access restrictions.
In a site-to-site vpn environment, can I accomplish the setup using one asa5505 on one end and one 1811 router on the other end or do I need to have two asa 5505 or two 1811 routers? Another word, can I mix and match the devices and still accomplish a site-to-site vpn setup or do I have to have the same devices on both end?
My internet down my road went out a while ago for a week and it came back on fine but ever since the B.T. tech came over after to check the router it's been only allowing a couple of devices on at a time!I know it's not the devices because if I keep turning my router off and on it will work eventually but when reset then something else can't connect. Here is the details from a pc that i've got connected:Windows IP ConfigurationWireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection[CODE]
For everybody else in the house the internet works fine on their devices, however, on my laptop and ipod it will often not allow me to connect for ages, but then finally connecting (without me changing anything)
My laptop stopped connecting to the Internet eventhough our other laptop has no issue - tried resetting modem, router and bypassing router -- it shows my wireless network and says its connected as local only - tried TCP/IP reset and restarted but still same, when i did the winsock, ipv4, ipv6 command prompt i get an error on the ipv4 - resetting echo request failed? I also tried uninstalling my network adapters in safe mode and restarting but same issue still
I have installed my new E4200 and it works beautifully. I have several wirelss adapters and a few wired connections through powerline adapters. I also have a second VPN router attached to the 4200.I can see the wireless connected devices with the associated IP addresses. If I plug a laptop directly into the Cisco, I can of course see it.However, I can see none of the devices attatched to the powerline devices? I have a securty cam connected via the powerline and want to know the IP address. I checked with cisco technical support via chat and they said it is impossible. I have used 2 previous routers with the same configuration and can see all devices.
I have a Belkin Wireless N1 router and it works great with my laptops and desktop computers. But! Whenever I connect up my iPad 2, mobile phone (Nexus S) or any other mobile phone, Apple TV or PS3 - the internet works and then after about 10-15 minutes (maybe more, maybe less) the internet cuts out and I can't connect on any device. The PS3 works great when hooked up through ethernet, but wirelessly the connection doesn't last very long at all. Both my parents and brother have an android based smartphone and when at home they'd like to use our WiFi instead of their mobile data - and when it comes to online gaming on the PS3, I don't want to have to trail an ethernet cable all the way to my PS3 set-up. I have full signal strength throughout the house so range isn't an issue - I've also tried connection up whilst next to the router and the connection still cuts out. To resolve this I have to pull the power cable and re-boot the router.
I have cable broadband and the modem still indicates that I have a connection, and when the internet is cut from the modem the router shows a message saying that "No internet connection can be found". The screen still indicates that it still has an internet connection but it just isn't broadcasting it...I've altered the broadcast channels but this hasn't done anything. I can connect up to my friends Belkin ADSL Wireless router with no problems and it doesn't cut out. He has his PS3 connected wirelessly too and it's all good...
can i get such settings with which i can connect my dongle with wifi router so that i can connect my tablets and mobile to use the internet of mobile...or is there ny cable available in market which connects the dongle directly to my mobile for using internet>?
I have just switched to a new internet provider (UnityMedia in Germany) and they provided me with a CISCO cable modem (EPC3208G) and a 'wireless N 150 Home Router DIR-600' (hardware Bx and firmware 2.13). I had to ring the service desk to complete set up. I was told to connect the LAN cable (from the modem) into LAN number 1 rather than 'internet' (in the router). I was also told to change the router IP address to 192.168.0.2. Thereafter the connection to the internet was established (they also asked me to make some other changes which I can no longer recall). However after the phone call with the D-link service desk I attempted to connect my other internet enabled devices (kindle, internet radio and smartphone) and apart from one other laptop nothing can connect to the internet.
Currently my home network is being switched via TrendNet TEGs80G unmanaged gig switches. I have been using them for about a year now with no issues. As my home network becomes more advanced, I recently just added a Cisco ASA5505, I am thinking about swapping those unmanaged devices, 4 of them, to managed. I was looking at the Cisco SG300-10 for upstairs, and a 16 port variant for my main core. These devices do not support full Cisco IOS cli, but they are manageable with a rich feature set nonetheless. My question is, should I swap the unmanaged devices with the more expensive Cisco devices, or just keep what works and save the money until I really need to spend it. As previously stated, my home LAN works just fine as it is, however my WiFi, NTV550s, server and workstations are all on the same network. Probably not the most secure but it is what it is without VLAN support.
I recently shut my computer down overnight, something I never do. When I booted it up the next day I had no internet connection. My computer is a desktop that's hard wired to a router and the modem. My son has a computer and an Xbox, both attached wirelessly to the router. Both of his computers are working mine is not. I keep getting a message saying "network is unidentified", but it won't let me pull up any networks. Its telling me there are no networks in my area. I have tried recycling both the router and modem numerous times, I even tried restoring my system to a date from last wk.
All of a sudden my browser wouldn't connect to any websites. Tried f.fox, IE and Chrome. But I could connect to the router and other devices, and another computer on the same router could connect to the internet. I use OpenDNS and started getting weird messages about my IP address being used by another user. I changed back to the ISP's DNS but it did not cure. In the end I used system restore back a couple of days and now all is well
I recently went into my router and changed my security settings so that my router is WEP protected. I was having issues with somebody feeding off on my connection and causing problems with my Internet provider. I had changed it to be a secured network before but somehow it became unsecured. So, I set up an admin password and such so nobody else should be able to get into my outer . Anyway, after setting it up to with the WEP, now I cannot access the Internet from any other device except my main PC to which the router is connected.I usually get some sort of error stating that there is "limited on no connectivity" when I try to connect my laptop or Archos Home Tablet device. Yet, is reads that the signal strength is excellent and recognizes my network as existing.
I was just curious if there was a way to allow a computer and a ps3 to have unrestricted internet access while at the same time preventing other devices from connecting to the internet at a scheduled time (12 am to 8 am for example)?
I am trying to allow a block of 7 or 8 devices to access the internet all the time. Two other devices I would like to allow internet access during a set time range. Finally I would like to block internet access to all devices not in one of the above groups. I need to use MAC addressing to identify the allowed devices. I was able to do this with my old WRT-54G but the DIR-825 is giving me trouble. My main problem occurs when I try to block access to "Other Machines". When I do that all devices on my network are cut off the internet.
Dlink Dir-657 keeps losing internet connection on wifi devices only . the connection remains to the router but no internet .if I disconnect the connection i am unable to reconnect to the router until i reboot it. My internet remains on my network cabled devices .I am running on an empty channel 3 , usually happens 20 to 60 minutes after the router is up . Dlink sent me a replacement refurbished one and this one is doing the same thing . I owned the original one for about 5 months with no problems at all ,no new electronics in the house and have not changed the placement of the router .
1. Motorola SBV5220 Surfboard Cable Modem for internet 2. Rosewill 8 Port Switch RC-406X
And I have:
1. Dell Q6600 desktop running on Windows 7 2. Dell Latitude laptop running on Windows XP 3. Xbox 360
These all need access to the internet.Up until now, everything worked fine. The Motorola modem was connected in Slot 1 and my desktop, laptop and Xbox were all 3 connected into slots 2, 3 and 4.The other day, I accidentally pressed a switch in my home that switched off my modem. Anyway, once everything was reset, things changed.I can no longer be on the internet with all 3 devices at the same time. Either only the laptop can be connected, with the 2 other devices being offline, or just the desktop and not the laptop.Whenever I gain access to the internet via the desktop, it shows as Network 10 and if I try and repair the connection on the laptop, it says it is unable to renew the IP address. If I switch it up and I have access on my laptop but try and have access on the desktop, the network shows up as Unidentified.
