For everybody else in the house the internet works fine on their devices, however, on my laptop and ipod it will often not allow me to connect for ages, but then finally connecting (without me changing anything)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently moved in a new apartment. At the building there is something like a centralized internet. There is a huge machine which is connected to every apartment of building via a cable modem(Netsys nh-300sp). Here is an image of system. And when I first came to apartment they gave me a username and password which I made login when i firstly opened a page on safari. When I plug in an ethernet cable to my macbook-air it connects and everything s good for a moment then it starts to kick me out randomly and continuously. When I look to Network Diagnostics: ISP is red, internet and network are yellow.I tried also using a manual DHPC address, but then ISP is green but Internet and server are red or yellow. I cant even reach to modems admin panel, maybe because of the system of building.

We are using a small office network with y computers connect the laptop being the third and I am connected via wireless connection. I can connect to our network printer and the other 3 computers without a problem but I cannot go ontothe internet. I have an ip address 10.0:0:9 which is within our LAN range and my subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. I cannot also setup outlook and if I ping sites like google .com I get the reply 'could not find host'
View 14 Replies View RelatedWe have a network of over 20 devices, all kinds (windows, android, mac enz...). Everything was going well until one of the mac-users tried to publish his website that contained a movie (at first the movie was 622 MB). If this user presses publish the internet is going away. The website won't publish, waiting doesn't work. While the internet isn't working I went to another pc in the network and started some ping experiments. I can ping any device in the LAN, outside the LAN something strange happens: let's say for 6 seconds it is ok, but then it fails for lets say 20sec, again 6 sec the ping returns ok (45ms), and goes down for a longer period. Eventually it is not coming back.The mac user himself cannot access the internet either. When the publishing is stopped, the internet is back in less than a second.
This problem is recent, and it isn't the first time this user published a video on his own website, on the same host with the same application (iWeb). I asked him to publish his site to a local folder and hand it over to me, I tried to publish it to the same host using my own FTP application (FileZilla), this worked without any problem (I am on the same network). This is what we tried:
- Compressing the video (it is now 26 MB, still not working), we have 2GB space from the host, no limits on filesize.
- Publishing the website without the video's, no problem
- I turned on logging (debugging level) in the modem/router, no entries at the moment things went wrong...
- I called the provider, they claim nothing is wrong at their systems.
So, can the modem be broken? I don't think so because I can use it with far more intensive tasks without going down.One thing is clear, it shouldn't be possible for one computer to block the internet for everybody, so changes in the configuration are needed (I think).
i am not sure if this question has been raised before. My company recently bought a Cisco 1941 router and we have been using a Lynksis router connecting to our ISP using WiMax all along. I have configured the new cisco1941 to the best of my knowledge but something strange is happening on my network. I can open www.gmail.com from any machine but i cant open anything else even www.google.com . What could be causign that ?

Every day for the past week my Internet access goes down. I have a netgear router connected to Comcast modem. I have to reset the modem then the router constantly and it gets irritating. I called comcast and they say reset them. But why should I have to constantly reset.... Sometimes I just ignore it and it comes back up later... what is going on??

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have installed my new E4200 and it works beautifully. I have several wirelss adapters and a few wired connections through powerline adapters. I also have a second VPN router attached to the 4200.I can see the wireless connected devices with the associated IP addresses. If I plug a laptop directly into the Cisco, I can of course see it.However, I can see none of the devices attatched to the powerline devices? I have a securty cam connected via the powerline and want to know the IP address. I checked with cisco technical support via chat and they said it is impossible. I have used 2 previous routers with the same configuration and can see all devices.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Belkin Wireless N1 router and it works great with my laptops and desktop computers.But! Whenever I connect up my iPad 2, mobile phone (Nexus S) or any other mobile phone, Apple TV or PS3 - the internet works and then after about 10-15 minutes (maybe more, maybe less) the internet cuts out and I can't connect on any device. The PS3 works great when hooked up through ethernet, but wirelessly the connection doesn't last very long at all. Both my parents and brother have an android based smartphone and when at home they'd like to use our WiFi instead of their mobile data - and when it comes to online gaming on the PS3, I don't want to have to trail an ethernet cable all the way to my PS3 set-up. I have full signal strength throughout the house so range isn't an issue - I've also tried connection up whilst next to the router and the connection still cuts out. To resolve this I have to pull the power cable and re-boot the router.
I have cable broadband and the modem still indicates that I have a connection, and when the internet is cut from the modem the router shows a message saying that "No internet connection can be found". The screen still indicates that it still has an internet connection but it just isn't broadcasting it...I've altered the broadcast channels but this hasn't done anything. I can connect up to my friends Belkin ADSL Wireless router with no problems and it doesn't cut out. He has his PS3 connected wirelessly too and it's all good...
can i get such settings with which i can connect my dongle with wifi router so that i can connect my tablets and mobile to use the internet of mobile...or is there ny cable available in market which connects the dongle directly to my mobile for using internet>?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just switched to a new internet provider (UnityMedia in Germany) and they provided me with a CISCO cable modem (EPC3208G) and a 'wireless N 150 Home Router DIR-600' (hardware Bx and firmware 2.13). I had to ring the service desk to complete set up. I was told to connect the LAN cable (from the modem) into LAN number 1 rather than 'internet' (in the router). I was also told to change the router IP address to 192.168.0.2. Thereafter the connection to the internet was established (they also asked me to make some other changes which I can no longer recall). However after the phone call with the D-link service desk I attempted to connect my other internet enabled devices (kindle, internet radio and smartphone) and apart from one other laptop nothing can connect to the internet.
View 5 Replies View RelatedCurrently my home network is being switched via TrendNet TEGs80G unmanaged gig switches. I have been using them for about a year now with no issues. As my home network becomes more advanced, I recently just added a Cisco ASA5505, I am thinking about swapping those unmanaged devices, 4 of them, to managed. I was looking at the Cisco SG300-10 for upstairs, and a 16 port variant for my main core. These devices do not support full Cisco IOS cli, but they are manageable with a rich feature set nonetheless. My question is, should I swap the unmanaged devices with the more expensive Cisco devices, or just keep what works and save the money until I really need to spend it. As previously stated, my home LAN works just fine as it is, however my WiFi, NTV550s, server and workstations are all on the same network. Probably not the most secure but it is what it is without VLAN support.

My computer is a desktop that's hard wired to a router and the modem. My son has a computer and an Xbox, both attached wirelessly to the router. Both of his computers are working mine is not. I keep getting a message saying "network is unidentified", but it won't let me pull up any networks. Its telling me there are no networks in my area. But I could connect to the router and other devices, and another computer on the same router could connect to the internet. I use OpenDNS and started getting weird messages about my IP address being used by another user. I changed back to the ISP's DNS but it did not cure. View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently went into my router and changed my security settings so that my router is WEP protected. I was having issues with somebody feeding off on my connection and causing problems with my Internet provider. I had changed it to be a secured network before but somehow it became unsecured. So, I set up an admin password and such so nobody else should be able to get into my outer . Anyway, after setting it up to with the WEP, now I cannot access the Internet from any other device except my main PC to which the router is connected.I usually get some sort of error stating that there is "limited on no connectivity" when I try to connect my laptop or Archos Home Tablet device. Yet, is reads that the signal strength is excellent and recognizes my network as existing.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to allow a block of 7 or 8 devices to access the internet all the time. Two other devices I would like to allow internet access during a set time range. Finally I would like to block internet access to all devices not in one of the above groups. I need to use MAC addressing to identify the allowed devices. I was able to do this with my old WRT-54G but the DIR-825 is giving me trouble.My main problem occurs when I try to block access to "Other Machines". When I do that all devices on my network are cut off the internet.
View 5 Replies View RelatedDlink Dir-657 keeps losing internet connection on wifi devices only . the connection remains to the router but no internet .if I disconnect the connection i am unable to reconnect to the router until i reboot it. My internet remains on my network cabled devices .I am running on an empty channel 3 , usually happens 20 to 60 minutes after the router is up . Dlink sent me a replacement refurbished one and this one is doing the same thing . I owned the original one for about 5 months with no problems at all ,no new electronics in the house and have not changed the placement of the router .

These all need access to the internet.Up until now, everything worked fine. The Motorola modem was connected in Slot 1 and my desktop, laptop and Xbox were all 3 connected into slots 2, 3 and 4.The other day, I accidentally pressed a switch in my home that switched off my modem. Anyway, once everything was reset, things changed.I can no longer be on the internet with all 3 devices at the same time. Either only the laptop can be connected, with the 2 other devices being offline, or just the desktop and not the laptop.Whenever I gain access to the internet via the desktop, it shows as Network 10 and if I try and repair the connection on the laptop, it says it is unable to renew the IP address. If I switch it up and I have access on my laptop but try and have access on the desktop, the network shows up as Unidentified.
Can devices that share a router have access to each others internet history? Can one device affect another device that also uses the router?

Now today after the power went out, devices cannot connect to the internet.My PC connected directly to the cable modem results in internet connectivity.My PC connected to the router allows router access through 192.168.1.1.My PC connected to the router can NOT access the internet or otherwise get out to the modem.WiFi devices in the house cannot connect to the internet, but can still access the router through 192.168.1.1.Swapping cables results in the same behavior, so the PC can connect to the modem with either cable, and the computer can connect to the router with either cable.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere is going to be 2 computer and a router each with there own static public ip address (ie 68.x.x.x range) The issue i am running in to is getting the netgear set up correctly, every time i disable the dhcp server on the netgear and set up all 3 devices with the static ips i lose internet connection. If i leave the set work set up as dhcp on the lan side and keep the wan static ip it all works fine.

All of a sudden my laptop, android phone and blu ray player (all wireless devices) can't communicate with my wired devices (marantz receiver and samsung tv). Everything still connects to the internet independently but i can't for instance play music from my wireless laptop to my wired marantz receiver. I had no trouble with this last week and didn't change anything (that I'm aware of) I did get Verizon to switch out my router but it didn't solve anything. My wife's computer also cannot connect to wired devices. Lastly, if I connect my laptop with via ethernet cable it sees wired devices fine. I tried shutting off windows firewall but didn't work. I have no other firewall/virus software installed. I can ping to all devices (wired and wireless) from my laptop.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy E3000 has been working fine with 1.0.04 build 6 FW. Recently some devices (kindle, iPad) can't connect to internet while connected to E3000 via WiFi network. Had a look my E3000 router IP is 192.168.0.1 but those problematic devices has IP 192.168.1.XXX allocated by DHCP not sure why. Currently I manually set up static IP 192.168.0.XXX for those devices.

Sometimes all wireless devices lose the connection to the internet, and the access to the router administration page (192.168.1.1) becomes impossible. In this case LEDs of power, internet and wireless are lighting without flashing. This problem usually occurs every 48 hour, and there was no way to make a reconnection except turning the router off by unplugging the power wire and plug it again…

My PC will connect just fine, but it is the only device on my network that the router will allow internet access. The router will allow other devices (DVR, laptop, nook) to connect to it, but won't allow those devices to connect to the internet. Each device will show the same error, - "connected to linksys - no internet". I've reset the router many times with no results.
