Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G2 Won't Allow Internet Access For Multiple Devices

Dec 25, 2011

My PC will connect just fine, but it is the only device on my network that the router will allow internet access. The router will allow other devices (DVR, laptop, nook) to connect to it, but won't allow those devices to connect to the internet. Each device will show the same error, - "connected to linksys - no internet". I've reset the router many times with no results.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G2 / No Internet Access

Oct 28, 2011

I have a WRT54G2 router and when I try to connect to the internet, both wired and wirelessly, my network icon gives me a "No Internet Access" yellow sign icon. I have successfully connected to the internet by directly connecting to the modem and I have connected to other wireless networks using this computer so I have pretty much narrowed the problem down to the router. I have already perform a firmware upgrade to the latest version and did a hard reset of the router and setting it back up, to no avail. One problem I ran into while I was setting up though was that I can't even set it up with the WiFi-protected setup so I had to set up the password and stuff manually, as I have always done successfully in the past. I've never had a problem with this router in the past and so I think this router may be due for a replacement. I have contacted support through live chat and all the options they're giving me is either pay $25 to talk to someone about this or go through troubleshoot section.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Cisco WRT54G2 Forgets Devices?

Oct 19, 2012

I upgraded to v1.0.0.4 because on v1.0.0.1 all of a sudden my router's internet connection to my wifi devices was 'becoming stale' and I would lose internet connectivity even though i was still connected to the router.  The only way to get my router to get the browser to load pages again was to go to Status and release then renew dhcp.

After upgrading, it does it less often.  The problem now is that when my devices detect the network, they are all forced to re-enter the password.  Well, all iOS devices.  My macbook air doesnt require me to re-enter the password but it does not automatically connect to the network even though it is set up to do so and does so with 3 other networks from offices and other houses.

In other words, my only problem is with my wrt54g2 at home.  My iOS devices must be told everytime to connect to that network (they wont connect automatically) and the password must be re-entered everytime.  This only happens with this router.  And my macbook air has to be told to reconnect to this network although it DOES save the password for it.

What could be the problem?  I already changed the patch cable from my modem to my router.  That didnt do much.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G2 V1.0 Devices Would Drop Repeatedly

Apr 5, 2012

I purchased this router a few months ago(wrt54g2 v1.0) when I moved into st louis missouri. My ISP is charter communications. I am using windows 7 64 bit.I had no problems with this router with wired connections, however my wireless devices would drop repeatedly. I updated the firmware to the latest linksys version, but still same issue. After much research online and trying everything I could through linksys, I found a page that someone with the same problem said it could be solved by upgrading to dd-wrt freeware firmware. After much trials and problems, I finally got it installed. However I did not like dd-wrt because it would not allow FTP access no matter what i tried, and would lead to dropouts of wired connetions even though it did fix the wireless.I then decided to revert back to the previous firmware - this is where i think i messed up..I downloaded tftp and a firmware called vxworkskiller, this was supposed to be able to break the dd-wrt firmware which it did, and removed it. I continued to follow the instructions provied to me and was able to then install the linksys firmware but I accidentally upgraded the firmware for the router WRT54GS with the firmware version 7.50.2. This is now dropping both wired and wireless connections VERY frequently. My roomate is not happy as we have to power cycle the modem, router and pc's every couple of hours and sometimes that doesn't even work.I am unable to flash firmware of any version or type anymore, every upgrade fails weither I use the linksys gui, or tftp or any previously working firmware. All fail.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54GS Multiple Devices Not Able To Detect

Jan 18, 2012

I have a Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS with SpeedBooster. When I turn on 3 devices on Wi-Fi ( for instance 2 Apple MAC Computers, 1 Windows PC, and a wi-fi printer ), in other words 3 to 4 devices, everything works fine.  BUT when I add another device later in the day ( lets say an iPad ), the iPad is not able to access the wi-fi connection.  I get a message saying that another device is already using the connection. If I reset the router, then the iPad will be able to get in along with 2 or 3 other devices.  If I try an extra device, I get the same problem. What can be causing this?  I was under the impression that the router can handle an unlimited amount of wi-fi devices.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 Multiple Devices Under One Device Workaround?

Dec 9, 2012

Once your devices start showing up in your device list make a DHCP reservation for each device. (after confirming that no other devices are listed under it).

If you have a device that has multiple MAC & ip addresses under it you MUST first determine what the devices are listed & power-down before you can delete the device. Also note that some wired devices will still show as connected so you must have to either power down the device by pulling Th power cord OR disconnect the ethernet cable.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G2 - Unable To Access It Via Webpage

Feb 28, 2013

I have a continuing problem with my WRT54G2 wireless router.  I set up my network, changing the password for the router, and I change the SSID, as well as the encryption password.  When I set it up, and after changing passwords etc.  I always log off, go back and log on, and it works fine.  Once I set up the network, over time, I'll notice a device will no longer connect via wireless.  When that happens, I try to log on to the router, and can not connect to the router using either Firefox or IE.  When I try, I get Internal Server Error, or just nothing.  I can ping the router, and if I run an IPCONFIG at this point, the default gateway does show 192.168.1.1.    Every time this starts to happen, I must do a hard reset of the router.  Once  I do this, I can connect, and log on using the default settings, and re-set everything.  This is a HUGE pain, as it takes a lot of time, and happens way too often.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G2 V1 - Access PPPoE Modem With Wired Ethernet?

Oct 13, 2011

I am using the WRT54G2 connected to a cable modem that requires a PPPoE login.  I followed the Service Providers instructions and cloned the modems MAC address to the WRT54G and setup the PPPoE user id and password.  I can then plug my PC into one of the Ethernet connections on the back of the WRT54G and everything works as expected.  First I connect to the WRT54G2 and then I open a PPPoE connection in my network settings and it logs into the service provider and everything works as expected.  But when I connect to the WRT5G2 wirelessly I connect to the AP fine.  When I open the same PPPoE connection to the service provider it fails, the message says I have the wrong userid or password or that the protocol is not supported.  Of course I know the userid and password is correct because it works when connected with Ethernet cable.  I have tried disabling the security on the wireless network but that did not seem to work. The modem is a HomePNA HCNA Voice Endpoint.I am at the latest firmware 1.0.04.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Suddenly Can't Get Internet Connection On WRT54G2

Aug 27, 2011

My computers will not connect through to the internet.  It's not the modem, because if I connect my desktop directly to the modem, it connects fine (which is how I'm typing this now), but if I plug in the router, my desktop and my laptop (wireless) will show they're connected to the network, but that there is no internet connection available.  Support won't troubleshoot because I've had my router 1 year and 10 days (which I think is a crock of **bleep**) and the "Guide Me" thing is just running me around in circles.  I'm so pissed off I'm about to throw the router through a window and buy another (*NON*-Linksys) router, rather than pay $30 for one time tech support (which, with my luck, the same thing would happen again in 3 months, and the same directions wouldn't work then).  I've done a factory reset, and set up the router from scratch, done a firmware upgrade, everything, but it still won't connect

Linksys Wireless Router :: Incredibly Slow Internet With WRT54G2?

May 13, 2012

I recently purchased one simply because we needed a wireless router with my roommate using a new laptop. Installation went by without a hitch but when it came to actually using the internet, it was so sluggish that it was impossible to use, on either computer. In fact, I had to disconnect the router and go directly from the modem to even make this post.

I've upgraded the firmware and I thought it was fixed because the internet seemed to be moving at a decent pace (loading pages, speed tests), but then it went back to moving incredibly slow if not timing out altogether. There was a problem with random disconnects but that was something that the firmware upgrade did seem to fix outright.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Verizon FIOS Internet / TV Setup With WRT54G2?

Nov 29, 2009

I'm trying to configure my Linksys WRT54G2 router as my primary router and have my Actiontec just used for the my FIOS TV (eg VOD, widgets, guide).  I've googled many HOWTO's on how to do this but I just cant get it working.  So setup up will look like this in th end:

(DHCP Server)
(Wireless)        (Only TV)
Internet >> WRT54G2 >>> Actiontec >>> PC/Laptops
|
FIOS TV -------------

how to set this up?  I understand that the STB devices configured on my Actiontec routers is actually my TV receiver and currently configured with the following IP addresses:

IP-STB1:Connection Type:    Coax
192.168.1.100
IP-STB2:Connection Type:    Coax
192.168.1.101
IP-STB3:Connection Type:    Coax
192.168.1.103

I have COAX Ethernet setup so everything is going through ethernet per Verizon phone tech.

Actiontec Firmware Version:  4.0.16.1.56.0.10.11.6
WRT54G2 = DDWRT firmware

I've tried the following HOWTO's to no avail.[URL]

My WRT54G2 v1 does not automatically connect to the internet on computer start-up. This happens to any computer that tries to get online from a cold start-up. The router must always be unplugged, then plugged back in, then it will have internet access (and will generally maintain it throughout the session and even if the computer is restarted, i.e. warm boot). I have downloaded the latest firmware uprade.
