I got the new EA6500. For the last few days I've noticed there are multiple devices showing under one device with different IP addresses. In the beginning they show up individually with their own device names, then somehow combine. Each device is different ie. computer, phone, DirecTV box, etc. I did a hard reset, re-flash and still it keeps happening.
View 9 RepliesOnce your devices start showing up in your device list make a DHCP reservation for each device. (after confirming that no other devices are listed under it).
If you have a device that has multiple MAC & ip addresses under it you MUST first determine what the devices are listed & power-down before you can delete the device. Also note that some wired devices will still show as connected so you must have to either power down the device by pulling Th power cord OR disconnect the ethernet cable.
I have noticed from time to time I get many (15-20) "network devices" in the Device List with no MAC address. I notice this mainly when managing Parental Controls. I go and clean up the Device List and days later they reappear. Another interesting thing is that the computer I am writing this with (through the router) does not show up in the Device List and I have an IP address from the router. I have the latest firmware 1.1.28.146856. Does anyone else see this on their EA6500?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an EA6500 and have three AppleTV... all three generations.l I also have a DirecTV Genie and DirecTV HD-DVR that, together, provide whole-house viewing. When I first setup the EA6400 based network, all three AppleTVs were listed and my whole-house viewing worked. This past Saturday, however, that changed, when I couldn't see the programs recorded on the HD-DVR, from the Genie. My troubleshooting determined one of the AppleTVs had been assigned the same address as the HD-DVR upstairs and that the HD-DVR wasn't listed as being connected. Once I reset everything, the IPs resolved and the whole-house viewing was resolved, however, none of the AppleTVs are listed as connected, even though they are. I can check the connections by the AppleTV device and see that they do, indeed, have an IP address, and I can view material from the iTunes cloud or stored on another PC in the local network. I reset everything again, but to no avail. No AppleTV devies show as connected from Smart Wi-Fi. The AppeTVs are all wired to the LAN... not wireless.
So, the question is, is there a fix to get AppleTV devices to list? All of my devices and router have the lastest firmware. BTW, I had a WRT610N, which I'm now useing as an access point, didn't have this issue.
My EA6500 are not displaying all the connected network devices on in the GUI. How do i force this? Is it a bug? How can I make sure all my devices are showing in the GUI?
View 5 Replies View RelatedTo preface this message I need to state that I am functionally illiterate when it comes to any kind of networking. I just replaced an old Linksys wireless-G router with a new Linksys EA6500 router. My needs are as follows: I am connecting 4 desktop computers (two personal and two business) via Ethernet cables. In addition there will be three smart phones, two DVD players and one game console connected wirelessly. In the future I will add a printer, hard drive and more wireless devices. After installing the hardware and running the setup disk all four computers wired with Ethernet cables worked fine (although they are not set up to communicate or share files with one another - they only need to access the internet. My problem is with the wireless connectivity. I cannot get any one of the wireless devices to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have my EA6500 behind verizon fios router. I have 5 static IP addresses assigned to FIOS router, however the machines I want to connect to are behing EA6500. It's a dual NAT scenario:
Public IP - FIOS Router - 192.168.1.0/24 network - EA6500 - 192.168.2.0/24 network
What I would like to do is for each public IP address, I would like to forward traffic to a particular host on 192.168.2.0 network. I can easily configure FIOS router for static NAT and assign one internal IP (from 192.168.1.0 range) for each public IP. However, I don't see a way to assign multiple IPs from 192.168.1.0 network to EA6500 internet interface.
I don't want to use EA6500 as a bridge as it will pretty much reduce my EA6500 to a very expensive GigE switch.
Is this possible? Or should I replace it with something more useful like a business router? This is for my home so I would like to avoid buying an expensive business router.
Although EA6500 states support for WPA devices it appears that some B devices (like HP Wi-Fi printer PSC 2510) are not supported. The lack of support seems due to the lack of WPA with TKIP encryption, only the newer EAS encryption appears to be available.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe purchased an EA6500 to take the place of the router function of a Verizon Westell 7500. We bridged the Westell, installed and set up the EA6500 and everything seems fine.
What is strange is that some devices on the network (our server, user PC, a NAS that isn't part of the domain) while accessible if you navigate to them via \ do not appear in the Network window.
This of course is causing issues for some users who don't or won't map network drives.
At first I thought this may be an issue related to us having some of our network devices with static IP addresses so we switched them over to dynamic - no change in the network window.
we will have to return this router and get a different brand/model if it won't work in this fashion.
I just bought a Linksys EA6500 (AC 1750). Now after a week, seems to stop rresponding at times and I am get 5+ MAC Addresses from 1 IP address. I have only one NIC installed and it is configured to have a static IP.

Since a couple of weeks I have a linksys EA6500. When I go to the device list to see which devices are online the device list is not displayig the correct data. I see devices online that are offline and also devices are offline that are at the moment online. When I try to delete a device that is offline in the list I get error 2315. I have that error in the local and cloud interface. The list has a frozen state from a particular moment.
When I reboot the router then all devices in the list have status offline and the device list stays that way. Nothing gets online anymore or will be added. When I reset the router to factory default all keeps working without problems for approximately 24 hours and after that the problem occurs again. The list freezes again and you are not able to delete a device.
I searched the forums but no one has this problem. I only can find a post that describes my problem but for them a reset worked. In my case a factory reset works also but the problem keeps coming back.
I have the Linksys EA6500 with the latest firmware and have a question regarding the device list connection status.Currently, I am seeing devices in the list that have a connection status of live, but they are not even within my home network. What is the update/cycle time for the device list actually checking connection status of a device?In my situation, it has been 3 days (72 hours) since the two device showing as connected have not been connected to my home network/router. Noticed that this inaccurate connection status for these devices is also contributing to the Device Monitr app not showing correct device connection status info.
Would like to have real-time device connection status if possible. This device list is great way to know when device get connected or disconnected which let me know when my kids get home from school or using game console when should be doing homework.
I'm thinking of purchasing a Cisco Linksys EA6500. I need a router that can one monitor bandwidth used by device. Keep exceeding our ISP's network bandwidth allocation, need to identify the devices that are causing this high usage and be able to do so from the router. Does the EA6500's standard software support this, is their router software one can obtain for the unit that does this or is there another home router option that can perform this function?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have verizon fios business line with 5 static IP addresses and am configured for ethernet wan. I can use EA6500 as the router instead of using Verizon's own router, however I can't figure out how to assign all 5 static IP addresses on internet interface. I have already assigned first IP to internet interface but don't see a way to add more IPs either in internet interface or from NAT section where I can create static NAT.
Is this even possible with EA6500? If so, how?
The smart wi-fi app Device List indicates Local Network = 0 (that's incorrect) and Guest Network = 0 (that's correct). When i click Connected Devices for My Network, i see a list of devices but everything indicates 'Offline' and that of course is incorrect.How can i upgrade this software? I recently installed EA6500 and due to being slow, it was recommended to set back to factory default. That process did no go well, so i hope it is not necessary again. This router is not any better then the wrt320N so i am disappointed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS with SpeedBooster.When I turn on 3 devices on Wi-Fi ( for instance 2 Apple MAC Computers, 1 Windows PC, and a wi-fi printer ), in other words 3 to 4 devices, everything works fine. BUT when I add another device later in the day ( lets say an iPad ), the iPad is not able to access the wi-fi connection. I get a message saying that another device is already using the connection.If I reset the router, then the iPad will be able to get in along with 2 or 3 other devices. If I try an extra device, I get the same problem.What can be causing this? I was under the impression that the router can handle an unlimited amount of wi-fi devices.

The router will allow other devices (DVR, laptop, nook) to connect to it, but won't allow those devices to connect to the internet. Each device will show the same error, - "connected to linksys - no internet". I've reset the router many times with no results.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIssue with Linksys E3000 router (firmware 1.0.02). I'm experiencing issues with the following wireless connections:
-iPhone 4G (wife's)
-iPod Touch 2G
-PC with wireless connection (non Linksys brand adapter)
-Acer NetBook (non Linksys brand adapter)
The issue is the connection gets interrupted and dropped, but the devices and the router DHCP clients table show the connections are still present. By interruption, I mean no data traffic is being transmitted.My wife's iPhone 4G and my son's iPod Touch wifi both show they are connected to the home network, complete with wifi bars being displayed, and the checkmark is present next to the home network connection in the the device settings for both. When I check the E3000 DHCP clients table, both Apple devices are listed as holding a connection. Yet both devices display network errors when trying to use any app that connects to the internet. By restarting the wifi connection on each, the connection is restored to the point where traffic now transmits. My wife and son estimate it is after about 10 minutes that they encounter the interruptions.
On the PC and NetBook, the connections have to be terminated and reconnected. I have not timed these to see how long before the connection becomes problematic.Interestingly, my ASUS laptop and my iPhone 4G do not have the issue, nor does my work laptop (Dell).There are no timeout parameters in the router config. Closest thing to it is the Beacon Interval, but I don't know which way to adjust it (up or down) to manage the devices that are experiencing interruptions. I have not made any interval adjustments...at this time, everything is set to default settings.This E3000 replaced an aging WRT54 (hardware v2) router so that I could have an N router in the house.
I am using a EA4500 and use Linksys Smart Wi-Fi to manage the device. In the household we have multiple Apple i devices. Somehow the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi combined two separte i devices (iPhone 5 and a 4th generation iTouch) to one user.The devices actually have different names, but the Smart Wi-Fi is combining them into one device. So I can't use Parental Controls on one of the devices.

I also have a second VPN router attached to the 4200.I can see the wireless connected devices with the associated IP addresses. If I plug a laptop directly into the Cisco, I can of course see it.However, I can see none of the devices attatched to the powerline devices? I have a securty cam connected via the powerline and want to know the IP address. I checked with cisco technical support via chat and they said it is impossible. I have used 2 previous routers with the same configuration and can see all devices.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to connect my ps3, sky hd+ box and samsung smart tv. Upstairs is my wireless router and I have connected to this by using a power supply networking adaptor (duvelo). I have since purchased a cheap ethernet switch from ebay and plugged this into the power adaptor connection next to my ps3, sky hd+ and samsung smart tv downstairs. I thought by connecting these 3 devices to the switch (which is connected to the duvelo adaptor) I could have all 3 devices simultaneously connected online. However, I still can only have 1 ethernet cable in the switch at once and hence only connect 1 device at a time.

Is it possible to even get Gigabit dowload speeds via DSL or would I have to go cable to achieve something like that ?My main concern is I don't want to buy a modem that will slow down or 'throttle' the capabilities of the new router I've just purchased or have I got the wrong idea ?
