Linksys Wireless Router :: Ea4500 - Device In Smart Wifi Is Listed With Two Multiple Apple

Jan 2, 2013

I am using a EA4500 and use Linksys Smart Wi-Fi to manage the device. In the household we have multiple Apple i devices. Somehow the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi combined two separte i devices (iPhone 5 and a 4th generation iTouch) to one user. The devices actually have different names, but the Smart Wi-Fi is combining them into one device. So I can't use Parental Controls on one of the devices.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200v2 Not All Devices Listed On Smart Wifi

Jan 8, 2013

I've noticed that my E4200v2 Smart-Wifi cloud doesn't show all the devices that are connected to my router. To test, last night we turned on EVERYTHING....4 iPod Touches, 2 Xbox's, 1 Blu-ray player connected to Netflix, 1 Directly receiver, 4 laptops,1 desktop,1 iPhone, and made sure all of them were connected to the Wi-fi and actually streaming / downloading/playing something the Smart WiFi only recognized about half of them as being connected. I rebooted the router and it picked up a few more but never accounted for all  the devices connected.

If you can't account for all the devices connected to your network, setting-up up reliable Parental Controls is almost impossible.Very disappointed and about ready to start looking for another brand of router. Sad, as I've been with Cisco/Linksys for over a decade and been very satisfied in the past.

I use the Smart Wi-Fi app on my iPad3 (IOS 6.1.3) to access my EA4500 remotely. When I want to add a port forwarding, it shows always 192.168 as start of the ip address related to the ports. But I have a 10.71 network installed and cannot change the 192.168 to 10.71. I suppose this is a bug.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Cannot Access Ea4500 Locally Or Through Smart Wifi Dashboard

Mar 30, 2013

I just purchased the EA4500 router and went through the setup with no issues.  The only problem is I cannot access the router either locally or through the Smart Wifi dashboard.  Everytime I go to the page with "Access Router", enter the password and clikc the "Submit" button it does nothing...no incorrect password prompt or idle prompt...almost like the page is broken somehow.  I've done all of the usual, restart router, restart PC, restart cable modem, etc. and always having the same result.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Ea4500 - Smart Wifi Interface And Windows Network Map?

Apr 17, 2013

I purchased this Router about 2 weeks ago as a phased upgrade of our Home Network, primarily to enhance media streaming. It has the latest firmware preinstalled from the factory. Prior to the purchase and installation of the EA4500 Router I replaced my old Motorola SurfBoard SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with a Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. My old Linksys E2000 Router worked perfectly with the SB6141, with the exception that the E2000 wasn’t IPv6 enabled, but does have 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet (RJ-45) and Internet ports.

The EA4500 has been installed for about 10 days and seems to have improved local network speeds and I don’t seem to be having any Internet connectivity issues. However, there are some disturbing issues with the EA4500 and the AE3000 I purchased. There are 11 devices connected through the Router; a Dell Desktop (wireless with the AE3000), a Dell Desktop (Ethernet), a Dell Laptop (wireless), 2 Canon Printers (1 Ethernet and 1 Wireless), 2 Western Digital 1TB MyBookLive Network Drives (both Ethernet), a WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (wireless), an Apple TV media player (wireless), an iPad (wireless), and an Android Smartphone (wireless).

Issue 1 – The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi interface appears to be unreliable at times!!! I’ve read about this problem here on the Community involving the EA6500, so I don’t know if this is a Linksys Server issue, as suggested in a few responses, or a bug in the Router firmware, or defective hardware. However, when the interface locks up, it can’t be accessed from a wireless or wired connection. Usually, powering down the Router and then powering it back up and restart will allow it to function again. However, at times before the interface completely locks up it shows either just a white screen or the security screen will show no firewall features enabled. This is a little scary, so I’ll do a complete reset and setup; this is becoming a pain in the rear! Is there any hope for this being fixed, in this Router, not the next generation?

Issue 2 - All of my network devices show up in the Router’s Device List. Except for the Apple devices they also show up, when they are online, in Windows 7 Explorer under Network and when you click on Network they are correctly displayed as Computers, Media Devices, Network Infrastructure, or Storage. However, when you click on “Open Network and Sharing Center” and then click on “See Full Map”; it fails with the response “Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or there is an incompatible router on the network”; no device map is shown. When I follow the link for more information, the only thing that stands out is “A device on the network, such as a hub or switch, is not working properly or is not compatible with the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) protocol, which Windows uses to create the map. To fix this problem, disable the device, turn it off, or remove it from your network”. All of my network devices showed up on the Network Map with the old E2000. This issue is the same on all of my computers, either wired or wireless.

I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Ea4500 - Upgraded Firmware / Need To Associate With Smart Wifi Account

Jan 2, 2013

I just setup my new Cisco EA4500 and upgraded to latest firmware and signed up for my account.Local access to the router works fine and I see the Smart Wi-Fi admin/config interface However when I try to go to the following site: url...To access Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Tools, your router <em>requires</em> the <a href="url...Series Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Firmware</a> and you will need to associate your router with your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi account. On a computer or device connected to your router, open url... and follow the instructions. This requires that you enter the router password so have that ready.

However I see no way to perform the association step - my account exists and my router is configured.I am doing all this behind this router wi-fi network not remotely.

When i click Connected Devices for My Network, i see a list of devices but everything indicates 'Offline' and that of course is incorrect. How can i upgrade this software? I recently installed EA6500 and due to being slow, it was recommended to set back to factory default. That process did no go well, so i hope it is not necessary again. This router is not any better then the wrt320N so i am disappointed.

Linksys Wireless Router :: Ea3500 Smart Wifi Device List Not Finding Windows

Feb 16, 2013

I recently upgraded my Wi-Fi router to an EA3500 and am controlling it using Smart Wi-Fi running on a wired Windows 7 machine. So far, I have been able to add devices to the network without issue and each of those connections works fine.  All, except my TV, have been Windows 7 based machines.  Smart Wi-Fi Device List has been able to "see" each device and I have been able to add them to that list as well.

I am attempting to add a Windows 8 desktop computer to the network which is using a external USB wireless adapter.  That computer can see and connect to the network through the EA3500 and the connection seems to work fine.  The only issue is that its adapter does not show up in the Device List.

1)  Does the Device List do anything else besides showing a list of devices I chosen to add to my network?

2) How do I get my Windows 8 wireless adapter to show up in the Device List?

Linksys Wireless Router :: Ea4500 - One Device Not Connecting To Wifi Network

Feb 3, 2013

I just purchased a Linksys EA 4500.I set up the wifi properly, with laptops, tablets, smartphones and printer. The wifi network worked fine for a couple of days. But now one of the laptop "refuses" to see the Linksys wifi network. The other devices are still connected and running regularly.

The notebook that does not connect anymore is an ACER 5740DG with an Atheros Network adapter and Windows 7 installed. This notebook is otherwise running fine.At the beginning it was connecting ok and we never had any problem at all with the previous router Belkin_N+_7991AC, that I changed just for speed.

Now the Linksys network is simply not visible to such notebook in the "Available Connections List" that I get clicking on the WiFi icon in the bottom right, while a number of other wifi networks (not mine) are clearly visible. Of course I restarted the notebook properly. For one time I got the visibility of the Linksys, I entered the password and then it was not possible to see the network anymore. No error message from Smart WiFi software.

Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT54G What Is Priority Of A Device That Is Not Listed At All

Dec 8, 2011

I recently have been reading into QOS and have been fiddling with it on my Linksys WRT54G router. But there are a few things that seem limiting (at least on this version) so I have some questions.I live in a house with three other roommates all sharing the same internet connection. We don't have a bandwidth limit, so I don't care how much they're downloading. When I want to watch Netflix when they're all on the internet however, either my movies will come up in low quality, or will be interrupted.Under the Device Priority I put in my MAC address and set my priority to high. My first question is, what is the priority of a device that is not listed at all? There's only room for two devices so I can't put all three of my roommates in. I would assume their priority would automatically be the lowest.

I wanted to set certain common ports to be at a high priority. So far I just have port 53 for DNS entered with the highest priority, while my computer is set to high. Would this mean any computer making a DNS request would have a higher priority than my computer making a non-DNS query? I would like DNS to be a higher priority than myself streaming video. Finally, are there are ports that streaming video commonly use? I know there are ports for Netflix but I was also thinking of other Flash/HTML5 videos I might come across. Or do they tend to just use port 80?

But, everytime i go on the smart wifi login page, i enter my login and password and then i'm asked to download the software for my EA6500 and to associate it with my account. The problem is that i just can't update it manually because i couldn't ever go on the tools page. Never. So i'm here with a great router but i can't configure it. I asked the support service several times but they always asked me to reset the router. Nothing changes.I 'm still unable to process after the login page, i have created a account successfully, i can login but everytime i just get stucked at " Associate your router with your account" page. My only options there is to click on OKAY or a link to download the firmware on Linksys support. I get the firmware but i can't install it because i can't go in the administrative page.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Not Showing Up In Device List?

Nov 27, 2012

I have an EA4500 and am using Cisco Connect Cloud software. Its working mostly fine except that I have one device on the network that will not show up in the device list. This is not an issue in itself and normally I would ignore (although it used to show up when I forst got the router) however..

The device is a WDTVLive media unit and required access to windows shares on a media server. Now the WDTVLive device is server an ip address by the router and is available from everywhere on my network but every couple of days it loses the capacity to search windows shares.

I know what you are thinking and I initially thought the same, this is an issue with the WDTVLive box. However one day I spent a few hours trying to resolve (Am an IT Consultant and know a little about networks) and found that I could not fix the issue. I then rebooted the router and it started working. I have since confirmed that every time it breaks I have to reboot the router.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 - Unknown Device On Network

Apr 9, 2012

I recently purchased a Linksys EA4500 Dual-Band N900 Router with Gigabit and USB. Everything set up great with no problems and after a day or 2 I managed to get all home devices connected (2 laptops, 2 printers, an iphone, 1 tv, 1 blu-ray, an old desktop, and a tablet). Everything was connected right and working and I installed the Linksys app on my iPhone which let me see what devices were connected and all that. Well, last night, an unknown device showed up as a connected device. It's labeled as: android_(insert string of characters) and has a MAC address. I've tried and tried to identify what this device is and I can't. Everything else on our network is still showing up independently of that device. I'm worried that someone using our connection and possibly putting our device security at risk. What can I do to A) try to identify what the device is and B) if it is an intruder, block it's access.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E4200v2 Make Networks Hidden Through Wifi Smart Software

Dec 27, 2012

Is there any way to make networks hidden through the WiFi Smart software? I have a Cisco Linksys E4200V2. I have gone through everything to try figure out how to make my S.S.I.D. to not be broadcasted, but seems like the only way to make it hidden is to use the Origonal Firmware make it as hidden, then install the New Firmware and software. Seems like Cisco may have missed this option. I do know a lot of people would prefer their Networks hidden for a little security. I know it isn't much, cause if someone wants to get that info it's not hard to get it. But for people who don't know or don't want to waste all the time to find the Hidden Network name can be turned away, for going through that extra step.

For some reason, in 'Device List', my Apple Mac Pro has the manufacturer 'Logitech' and the model 'Squeezebox Radio'. As for my Logitech Squeezebox Radio, it doesn't have a manufacturer nor a model. It appears that there is a mix up with these two devices. I have cross checked the IP addresses and MAC addresses displayed in Cisco Connect Cloud with those displayed on the devices and they match - so it's not a case of mixed up names. Linksys Wireless Router :: E3000 Losing Wi-Fi Connectivity On Multiple Device

Sep 7, 2010

Issue with Linksys E3000 router (firmware 1.0.02). I'm experiencing issues with the following wireless connections:

-iPhone 4G (wife's)
-iPod Touch 2G
-PC with wireless connection (non Linksys brand adapter)
-Acer NetBook (non Linksys brand adapter)

The issue is the connection gets interrupted and dropped, but the devices and the router DHCP clients table show the connections are still present. By interruption, I mean no data traffic is being transmitted. My wife's iPhone 4G and my son's iPod Touch wifi both show they are connected to the home network, complete with wifi bars being displayed, and the checkmark is present next to the home network connection in the the device settings for both. When I check the E3000 DHCP clients table, both Apple devices are listed as holding a connection. Yet both devices display network errors when trying to use any app that connects to the internet. By restarting the wifi connection on each, the connection is restored to the point where traffic now transmits. My wife and son estimate it is after about 10 minutes that they encounter the interruptions.

On the PC and NetBook, the connections have to be terminated and reconnected. I have not timed these to see how long before the connection becomes problematic.Interestingly, my ASUS laptop and my iPhone 4G do not have the issue, nor does my work laptop (Dell). There are no timeout parameters in the router config. Closest thing to it is the Beacon Interval, but I don't know which way to adjust it (up or down) to manage the devices that are experiencing interruptions. I have not made any interval adjustments...at this time, everything is set to default settings. This E3000 replaced an aging WRT54 (hardware v2) router so that I could have an N router in the house.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 Multiple Devices Under One Device Workaround?

Dec 9, 2012

Once your devices start showing up in your device list make a DHCP reservation for each device. (after confirming that no other devices are listed under it).

If you have a device that has multiple MAC & ip addresses under it you MUST first determine what the devices are listed & power-down before you can delete the device. Also note that some wired devices will still show as connected so you must have to either power down the device by pulling Th power cord OR disconnect the ethernet cable.
