View 1 RepliesI have been trying to enable the Smart WiFi account for my EA6500 router. I have gone online and established a Smart WiFi account but am unable to associate my EA6500 with the account. I downloaded the tool off the Linksys support site but received the following error message:Error code: 0x82BF010CError description: The connected gateway is not a router.Model name: EA6500Model description: unknownSerial number: unknownFirmware version: unknownOperating system: Windows 7 (64-bit) SP 1Software version: 2.0.12332.0Connection type (WAN): unknownIP address (LAN): 192.168.1.254IP address (WAN): unknownComputer IP address: 192.168.1.67? View 9 Replies View Relatedhave a problem with my EA6500 router. I can't connect to the internet, the connexion works fine. But, everytime i go on the smart wifi login page, i enter my login and password and then i'm asked to download the software for my EA6500 and to associate it with my account. The problem is that i just can't update it manually because i couldn't ever go on the tools page. Never. So i'm here with a great router but i can't configure it. I asked the support service several times but they always asked me to reset the router. Nothing changes.I 'm still unable to process after the login page, i have created a account successfully, i can login but everytime i just get stucked at " Associate your router with your account" page. My only options there is to click on OKAY or a link to download the firmware on Linksys support. I get the firmware but i can't install it because i can't go in the administrative page.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe smart wi-fi app Device List indicates Local Network = 0 (that's incorrect) and Guest Network = 0 (that's correct). When i click Connected Devices for My Network, i see a list of devices but everything indicates 'Offline' and that of course is incorrect. How can i upgrade this software? I recently installed EA6500 and due to being slow, it was recommended to set back to factory default. That process did no go well, so i hope it is not necessary again. This router is not any better then the wrt320N so i am disappointed.

I am new to the forum and Linksys products. i have always been a Netgear fan. What brings me to Linksys is the Smart WIFI parental controls. My children have iPod touch and Kindle Fire. I want to "manage" the content (Youtube, internet, etc..) on these devices. I want to be able to control when they have access to the WIFI and when they don't. Another words, I want to go the router web interface and find the device and turn OFF the connection without affecting the rest of the house.
I was looking at EA6500 router as a pontential new router. Would this router give me the control I need?
I connected my router to a new computer. The computer is connected to the Internet. My SmartPhone won't connect via the router.
I logged in to the router from my cell and entered the password. The cell says the following over and over without connecting: ScanningObtaining IP address from routerDisconnectedConnectingScanning ... over & overHow can I connect my Samsung GAlaxy SII Skyrocket to my WiFi router [WRT54GS]?
To preface this message I need to state that I am functionally illiterate when it comes to any kind of networking. I just replaced an old Linksys wireless-G router with a new Linksys EA6500 router. My needs are as follows: I am connecting 4 desktop computers (two personal and two business) via Ethernet cables. In addition there will be three smart phones, two DVD players and one game console connected wirelessly. In the future I will add a printer, hard drive and more wireless devices. After installing the hardware and running the setup disk all four computers wired with Ethernet cables worked fine (although they are not set up to communicate or share files with one another - they only need to access the internet. My problem is with the wireless connectivity. I cannot get any one of the wireless devices to work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince I have installed my new router, a Linksys EA6500, I have many problems to connect to my Exchange Server, which is located in my house, via Wifi. I tried to synchronize my Iphone and my Samsung tablet but it won't work. Most of the times I get the message that the Exchange server cannot be connected. When I turn off my Wifi en connect via my mobile provider I have no problems. When I am on a third party wifi I also can connect my server. Seems my own wifi causes lots of problems.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI ran the upgrade program this morning to upgrade my EA4500 to use the cloud based software. The router is back online and everything appears ok but the program is still running and the progress is sitting at 95%. It's been like this for the past 15 minutes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just updated my router (E4200v2) to the smart wi-fi firmware and it seems I can only properly access it in the "local" mode (by that I mean that I can edit some of the properties such as wifi settings). If I try to login through the cloud / smart wifi account i only get the empty screen, no options, no widgets, nothing (see the included picture).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that my E4200v2 Smart-Wifi cloud doesn't show all the devices that are connected to my router. To test, last night we turned on EVERYTHING....4 iPod Touches, 2 Xbox's, 1 Blu-ray player connected to Netflix, 1 Directly receiver, 4 laptops,1 desktop,1 iPhone, and made sure all of them were connected to the Wi-fi and actually streaming / downloading/playing something the Smart WiFi only recognized about half of them as being connected. I rebooted the router and it picked up a few more but never accounted for all the devices connected.
If you can't account for all the devices connected to your network, setting-up up reliable Parental Controls is almost impossible.Very disappointed and about ready to start looking for another brand of router. Sad, as I've been with Cisco/Linksys for over a decade and been very satisfied in the past.
Last Sunday, I put lots of music files into usb storage, a external harddrive linked to EA4500. which is WD element 3T.Last Wednesday, I re-organize file folders. And then yesterday(Friday), I found all my files were lost.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have configured my new EA2700 successfully, upgraded the firmware to Smart Wi-Fi, can access it locally and configure anything as expected.
However, when I log on with my (validated) Smart Wi-Fi account, I am always stuck at this page (see screenshot below):
- Logon to [URL] works fine
- The I am redirected to this page
- Now I can only click OK
- Logon again to [URL] --> start over again...
The firmware is the latest version 1.1.39.145204 and no other updates are found. I tried IE and Firefox --> same result.
I use the Smart Wi-Fi app on my iPad3 (IOS 6.1.3) to access my EA4500 remotely. When I want to add a port forwarding, it shows always 192.168 as start of the ip address related to the ports. But I have a 10.71 network installed and cannot change the 192.168 to 10.71. I suppose this is a bug.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just purchased the EA4500 router and went through the setup with no issues. The only problem is I cannot access the router either locally or through the Smart Wifi dashboard. Everytime I go to the page with "Access Router", enter the password and clikc the "Submit" button it does nothing...no incorrect password prompt or idle prompt...almost like the page is broken somehow. I've done all of the usual, restart router, restart PC, restart cable modem, etc. and always having the same result.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI purchased this Router about 2 weeks ago as a phased upgrade of our Home Network, primarily to enhance media streaming. It has the latest firmware preinstalled from the factory. Prior to the purchase and installation of the EA4500 Router I replaced my old Motorola SurfBoard SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with a Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. My old Linksys E2000 Router worked perfectly with the SB6141, with the exception that the E2000 wasn’t IPv6 enabled, but does have 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet (RJ-45) and Internet ports.
The EA4500 has been installed for about 10 days and seems to have improved local network speeds and I don’t seem to be having any Internet connectivity issues. However, there are some disturbing issues with the EA4500 and the AE3000 I purchased. There are 11 devices connected through the Router; a Dell Desktop (wireless with the AE3000), a Dell Desktop (Ethernet), a Dell Laptop (wireless), 2 Canon Printers (1 Ethernet and 1 Wireless), 2 Western Digital 1TB MyBookLive Network Drives (both Ethernet), a WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (wireless), an Apple TV media player (wireless), an iPad (wireless), and an Android Smartphone (wireless).
Issue 1 – The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi interface appears to be unreliable at times!!! I’ve read about this problem here on the Community involving the EA6500, so I don’t know if this is a Linksys Server issue, as suggested in a few responses, or a bug in the Router firmware, or defective hardware. However, when the interface locks up, it can’t be accessed from a wireless or wired connection. Usually, powering down the Router and then powering it back up and restart will allow it to function again. However, at times before the interface completely locks up it shows either just a white screen or the security screen will show no firewall features enabled. This is a little scary, so I’ll do a complete reset and setup; this is becoming a pain in the rear! Is there any hope for this being fixed, in this Router, not the next generation?
Issue 2 - All of my network devices show up in the Router’s Device List. Except for the Apple devices they also show up, when they are online, in Windows 7 Explorer under Network and when you click on Network they are correctly displayed as Computers, Media Devices, Network Infrastructure, or Storage. However, when you click on “Open Network and Sharing Center” and then click on “See Full Map”; it fails with the response “Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or there is an incompatible router on the network”; no device map is shown. When I follow the link for more information, the only thing that stands out is “A device on the network, such as a hub or switch, is not working properly or is not compatible with the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) protocol, which Windows uses to create the map. To fix this problem, disable the device, turn it off, or remove it from your network”. All of my network devices showed up on the Network Map with the old E2000. This issue is the same on all of my computers, either wired or wireless.
I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.
I am using a EA4500 and use Linksys Smart Wi-Fi to manage the device. In the household we have multiple Apple i devices. Somehow the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi combined two separte i devices (iPhone 5 and a 4th generation iTouch) to one user. The devices actually have different names, but the Smart Wi-Fi is combining them into one device. So I can't use Parental Controls on one of the devices.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my Wi-Fi router to an EA3500 and am controlling it using Smart Wi-Fi running on a wired Windows 7 machine. So far, I have been able to add devices to the network without issue and each of those connections works fine. All, except my TV, have been Windows 7 based machines. Smart Wi-Fi Device List has been able to "see" each device and I have been able to add them to that list as well.
I am attempting to add a Windows 8 desktop computer to the network which is using a external USB wireless adapter. That computer can see and connect to the network through the EA3500 and the connection seems to work fine. The only issue is that its adapter does not show up in the Device List.
1) Does the Device List do anything else besides showing a list of devices I chosen to add to my network?
2) How do I get my Windows 8 wireless adapter to show up in the Device List?
Is there any way to make networks hidden through the WiFi Smart software? I have a Cisco Linksys E4200V2. I have gone through everything to try figure out how to make my S.S.I.D. to not be broadcasted, but seems like the only way to make it hidden is to use the Origonal Firmware make it as hidden, then install the New Firmware and software. Seems like Cisco may have missed this option. I do know a lot of people would prefer their Networks hidden for a little security. I know it isn't much, cause if someone wants to get that info it's not hard to get it. But for people who don't know or don't want to waste all the time to find the Hidden Network name can be turned away, for going through that extra step.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just setup my new Cisco EA4500 and upgraded to latest firmware and signed up for my account.Local access to the router works fine and I see the Smart Wi-Fi admin/config interface However when I try to go to the following site: url...To access Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Tools, your router <em>requires</em> the <a href="url...Series Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Firmware</a> and you will need to associate your router with your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi account. On a computer or device connected to your router, open url... and follow the instructions. This requires that you enter the router password so have that ready.
However I see no way to perform the association step - my account exists and my router is configured.I am doing all this behind this router wi-fi network not remotely.
To connect my new "smart tv" with my wireless linsys WRT610N, smart tv ask to take off all protection such as firewall and antivirus. Doing so, I cannot connect my laptop with my router. Is there a solution to connect both at the same time?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAlthough EA6500 states support for WPA devices it appears that some B devices (like HP Wi-Fi printer PSC 2510) are not supported. The lack of support seems due to the lack of WPA with TKIP encryption, only the newer EAS encryption appears to be available.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just picked up a EA6500 wireless router today and I am a bit disappointed. I paid $199 for this router because I was hoping to take advantage of of fast N speeds and the advanced features it offers. When I first logged in to set up the router, I saw an amber exclamation point with a note that read "Updating Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Service". When I put my password in I was met with a "Unexpected Error" message. Also, the firmware updater doesn't work. Now on to the more bothersome issue. Wireless speed is poor. I replaced a WRT160NL router with this one. On my old router using WPA2-Personal (AES) I would see speeds of ~300 Mbps. On my EA6500, I see 120 Mbps. I have checked and double checked all wireless and security settings and don't see anything that looks wrong.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a smart phone that can use my wireless access to get to the internet, however the phone cannot connect. I have verified that I am using the correct password and it is finding the network just fine, it just can't connect. I have had this problem with my laptops as well, but with them I just copied the key to a USB key and used that to get them going. I don't have that ability with the smart phone.
how to best troubleshoot this issue and resolve it? I have also reset the router to allow anonymous internet access with no positive result there either.
I am interested in running the EA6500 without all the Cloud Connect software etc. Is this possible? Is there a basic way to set this up without that requirement?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought the EA6500 last week. Had to RMA it on Monday and got the new one today. The issue still persists. The power light is constantly blinking and my computer is unable to obtain an IP address from it. I contacted tech support and was unable to get the issue resolved so I had it exchanged believing it was defective. The new one does the same thing. When I connect my computer to it, the light on my Ethernet port stays a solid orange instead of green like it does for my usual router. The Cisco light is constantly blinking.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have it set up as Capri (2.4 GHz) and CapriHD (5 GHz). CapriHD was intended only for HD video traffic. My wife's iphone 4S can only use 2.4 GHz, and it suddenly quit connecting after 1-2 months of use. My iphone 5 can use either band and it can only connect on 5 GHz. This problem MIGHT correspond to the recent firmware upgrade? I was traveling a lot around that time so can't be sure that is a culprit.Really thought the problem was the hardware, so I replaced it with a new EA6500 and getting the same result.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot my new EA6500 on Friday. I can't connect to the internet with it.To start with, I have a cable modem that is connected directly to my desktop to verify I have a good internet connection. I do (can browse the web). Then, I disconnected the cable from my desktop and plugged it into the "internet" port on the EA6500. With a new cable, connected one end to the desktop and the other end to Port 1 on the router. Now I no longer have an internet connection.Went throught varioius sequences of rebooting the computer / router / cable modem with no change.
Then disconnected the cable that was pugged into "internet" on the router and plugged it back into the desktop -- internet service restored. So, I have a good connection to the web.
When I had the router in the config, I was able to go to IP 192.168.1.1 and see the routers setup screens, so the connection between the computer and the router was good.I also was able to try the wireless on the router by connecting my iPhone. Iphone connected to the router (joined the network), but couldn't get to the internet.
It's as if the internet connection withing the router is broken.I even did a reset of the router which didn't work. Using this new router via hard wires should work out of the box with no setup necessary.
I did also try running the install software to see if it made a difference. Setup detected no internet, but I selected to continue on without the internet connection. Software guided me to setting up my wireless network (choose SSID, etc) and that completed. Was able to connect with my iPhone to the newley found SSID, but still no internet.
I just bought an ea6500 to replace my old Billion router and up to now all I've had to do is plug my phone line directly into the "phone line in" port on the back of the billion router. But I see there is no "phone line in" port on the ea6500, I don't use a modem and have used the billion router by itself for the past 6 years, is there a way to connect my phone line directly to the ea6500 somehow? My research so far indicates you can't do it via an 'Ethernet / phone line adaptor' as they are incompatable anyway.
The install guide seems to expect a Modem is being used but in my case it hasn't been and I would think a router should perform the basic functions of a modem anyway ?
My concern is that if I really need to purchase a modem then won't this potentially 'throttle' the capabilities of the ea6500 which is the reason I've bought it in the first place ?
If I do need to purchase a modem to get my ea6500 working then what specs should I be looking for ??
This issue seems to happen about once every week or so. I get the router settings all configured and I'm able to access it from Cloud Connect and from the APP on my smartphone. After about a week, it's no longer accessible from cloudconnect, I can access it from my smartphone, but it shows that there are no devices connected (when they are actually connected). The screen for cloudconnect will come up after I sign in, but it just has the circling dots in the center of the screen saying "waiting" and it will do this until I close out explorer. The only way I've found to resolve this is to reset the router and set everything from scratch.
