I just moved into a new place and the cable company supplied me with a Motorola sbg6580 gateway and I have a netgear wnr3500l router with dd-wrt. because of location I have computers plugged into both devices (htpc and game consoles in the gateway, desktops in the netgear). how would i configure the gateway and router so everything sits on a single network AND the netgear with dd-wrt handling all the heavy lifting (port forwarding mostly)

I want to connect my ps3, sky hd+ box and samsung smart tv. Upstairs is my wireless router and I have connected to this by using a power supply networking adaptor (duvelo). I have since purchased a cheap ethernet switch from ebay and plugged this into the power adaptor connection next to my ps3, sky hd+ and samsung smart tv downstairs. I thought by connecting these 3 devices to the switch (which is connected to the duvelo adaptor) I could have all 3 devices simultaneously connected online. However, I still can only have 1 ethernet cable in the switch at once and hence only connect 1 device at a time.

I just bought the E3200 and have it all set up and have been able to successfully print from the USB port. I want to know if you can use a USB hub to connect multiple devices to the router. I found a couple of similar questions on the forum, but they're all back in 2011 before the 1.4 update to Cisco Connect.

I got the new EA6500. For the last few days I've noticed there are multiple devices showing under one device with different IP addresses. In the beginning they show up individually with their own device names, then somehow combine. Each device is different ie. computer, phone, DirecTV box, etc. I did a hard reset, re-flash and still it keeps happening.

I have a Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS with SpeedBooster. When I turn on 3 devices on Wi-Fi ( for instance 2 Apple MAC Computers, 1 Windows PC, and a wi-fi printer ), in other words 3 to 4 devices, everything works fine. BUT when I add another device later in the day ( lets say an iPad ), the iPad is not able to access the wi-fi connection. I get a message saying that another device is already using the connection. If I reset the router, then the iPad will be able to get in along with 2 or 3 other devices. If I try an extra device, I get the same problem. What can be causing this? I was under the impression that the router can handle an unlimited amount of wi-fi devices.

The original network had a Zylex router, Netgear Switch. There was 2 pc's, one XP and Win 7. There is also 3 tills connected too. There is VPN network connected too. This emits a wireless signal to connect to a scanning gun and is also used to administrate the entire network. I was told by the Administrator of that network that it shouldn't interfere with the wifi network. The job I was requested to do was to install 3 new wall plates as the Win 7 pc was using a Belkin wireless adapter. There was 2 put inside the office where the XP and Win7 pc's are located. The 3rd was just outside the office. Now all the ethernet connections work 100%. The wifi is another story though. It will show up in the connect too, when you try connect it will disappear/no response from AP/connect then disappear, these are random too. No order to when each is error is displayed. Even when I put in another router the exact same issues happen.I have tried to connect to both routers wifi when it wasn't plugged into the switch. Just the router's turned on with no cables plugged in separately of course, no joy same issue with both.

My PC will connect just fine, but it is the only device on my network that the router will allow internet access. The router will allow other devices (DVR, laptop, nook) to connect to it, but won't allow those devices to connect to the internet. Each device will show the same error, - "connected to linksys - no internet". I've reset the router many times with no results.

Once your devices start showing up in your device list make a DHCP reservation for each device. (after confirming that no other devices are listed under it).
If you have a device that has multiple MAC & ip addresses under it you MUST first determine what the devices are listed & power-down before you can delete the device. Also note that some wired devices will still show as connected so you must have to either power down the device by pulling Th power cord OR disconnect the ethernet cable.

I am in a manufacturing test scenario and need to connect multiple devices with the same IP address (identical hardware all with the same fixed IP) to one Windows 7 desktop for the purposes of testing.I have a 3Com SuperStack II Switch 1100 that I am using as my switch. This switch supports VLAN and I have set up a number of VLANs, 1 for each device, with the host machine residing in all of the VLANs. I need to connect to these devices via SSH, preferably all simultaneously.'m thinking this will work except I have no idea how to differentiate ssh traffic to/from any 1 of the VLANs to the host.

I would like to connect a variety of wireless devices in my house to my work VPN while allowing other devices in the house access to my home network as normal.I was hoping to find a wireless ADSL router that allows me to associate a LAN port to a VPN connection, then connect a wireless access point to that port. I could then run two wireless networks in my house, one that would connect to my work VPN and the other that would not.

I just got a Nook Color as a gift (nice huh?) I just bought my iPad2 in Jan. So now I've got Comcast cable with a Netgear N600 router and:
1 desktop Win XP sp3 plugged into router
1 desktop Win 7 usb wireless
1 HP laptop w/ Vista
2 Dell old laptops Win XP not used much
Sony PS3 not on much
iPad2 always on
Nook Color
AND a Roku always on
I think that's all. So I'm guessing all this will slow down my whole connection? My iPad is the fastest. My Nook is extremely slow. Maybe it's the B&N website? When I go to shop and even when I registered it, it says connection having trouble. I finally had to setup my account at BN with my desktop. The Nook wouldn't stay connected.

I work from home and host quite a few machines within my home network which are all accessible internally, however I have a requirement to be able to access multiple services externally.I have standard home broadband with a SKY ADSL Router Modem and have the ability to set a DMZ, however i can only put 1 IP address as the DMZ destination. This means that from externaly, I can only access a single machine, obviously I can RDP from there but I need other services, for example SSH to another machine. Anything that I can buy which I can set as my DMZ, but can have rules which will redirect me once in the internal network to different services?

I have a wireless G router and all of my devices that connect to it right now all have wireless adapters. I have several devices in a media closet (about 3 or 4 - Blu ray, DVR, ect) that only have wired ports. Since all these devices are right next to each other, I don't need to buy a wireless adapter for each one because that's just pointless. is there a way to have all 4 of these wired devices connect to a central device, which in turn this device connects to my wireless network? I know there is a way I just haven't been able to figure it out.And then, with this new device, is there some special way it has to be configured?

We have got a pair of N5K and 4 N2k. So far, we have configured VPC Keepalive (2x10G) & VPN Peer (1x1G) between N5K. Also we have configured one N2K with Dual Hommed VPC with both N5K.Now I am having some difficulties with desining/configuring EIGRP with Upstream routers/L3 65xxVSS switch.
Here are the queries.
1) Do I have to create another 1GE link between these 2 N5K to enable routing in between.
2) For these 2xN5K should I enable Eigrp on physical Interface or should I create VLAN & VRF to enable routing in between.
3) For N5K to Upstream L3 device should I have to configure EIGRP on physical Interface or should I create VLAN & VRF to proceed. We have 2 uplink each to connect to 2 DC and we are not planning to aggregate 2 links (VPC or L3 Ether Channel) for each site.

We have a Cisco 887 router and a Cisco SG-200 switch. We'd like to setup trunking between these 2 devices for multiple VLANs on the switch to be made available on the router.
With previous routers, you could set the router up in the configuration 'router-on-a-stick' and VLANs worked like a charm but the 887 no longer support sub-interfaces.So how can you get trunking working between the 2 devices?
Is there a VTP configuration menu for the SG-200 which we can setup in order for it to talk 'VTP' with the 887 router??

On my laptop, I get horrendously low speeds on our modem, but on my iPhone under the same WiFi, I get very fast speeds. On my Laptop, pages render very slowly, YouTube won't load etc. I also can't do online gaming or anything. What's causing this? I've tried the ol' 'turning it off and on again' trick for every thing but it doesn't work. I tried connecting it to the modem and it went slower!

I have a Comcast Motorola Surfboard rental modem. It works fine, great speeds etc etc. It has no router or bridge support.
I use this modem to connect to the web on my ps3 and PC. What I have been doing is simply unplugging the ethernet cord from one device, and putting it in the other device to switch. But of course things can't be simple...
Every time I switch devices, the modem tries to reconnect and does a cycle where every time it only reaches the "Send" light. So I have to power cycle my modem and wait about a half hour before my connection resumes...
I read something about PPPoE, but Comcast doesn't even use it so that won't work.

I am having 5 IP addresses assigned to me. I have one commercial/business modem/gateway/router. If I want to have the advantage of separate lines (go with this for now) how else can the gateway do it other than simply passing the IP directly through, no router function, basically a modem/switch, everything else not there.

My ISP assigns IP's through a standard motorola cable modem via DHCP server. I can pay extra for a persistent IP which uses the MAC of my switch and assigns an IP. Is there a way to get multiple public IP address's from the modem using a switch? For example. Can I plug the modem into the switch and then plug a computer server into the switch and get an IP assigned to that servers MAC address and then also have another server attached to another port on the switch and get a different public IP for that servers MAC address?

I have installed my new E4200 and it works beautifully. I have several wirelss adapters and a few wired connections through powerline adapters. I also have a second VPN router attached to the 4200.I can see the wireless connected devices with the associated IP addresses. If I plug a laptop directly into the Cisco, I can of course see it.However, I can see none of the devices attatched to the powerline devices? I have a securty cam connected via the powerline and want to know the IP address. I checked with cisco technical support via chat and they said it is impossible. I have used 2 previous routers with the same configuration and can see all devices.

I have a Packetfront DRG700 broadband modem (fiberoptic), which also has a wireless DHCP server built-in. In addition I have a D-Link DIR-615 router which is connected by cable to the modem. I want both units to be wireless access points for the same local network.
I've tried disabling the DHCP server on the D-Link and naming both units with the same SSID and passphrase, but that didn't work because whenever I'm wirelessly connected to the D-Link, I get an IP address from my broadband provider and not from the DHCP server on my modem; i.e. I'm no longer connected to my local network.
I'm told by my provider that the reason is because the DHCP server on the DRG700 only works wireless, while the LAN ports are given IPs from outside the house. (I would use one of these ports for my broadband TV decoder.)

The way it is set up is we have a Verizon DSL Modem that comes in then I have a router with it that splits the signal to 4 other routers that each split the signal 2 to 3 more times. I want to attach my Home Media Network Hard Drive Cloud edition to the 1st router (attached to the modem) and then share the data off that hard drive with everyone connected to the sub routers.
