View 9 RepliesI just moved into a new place and the cable company supplied me with a Motorola sbg6580 gateway and I have a netgear wnr3500l router with dd-wrt. because of location I have computers plugged into both devices (htpc and game consoles in the gateway, desktops in the netgear). how would i configure the gateway and router so everything sits on a single network AND the netgear with dd-wrt handling all the heavy lifting (port forwarding mostly)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a Nook Color as a gift (nice huh?) I just bought my iPad2 in Jan. So now I've got Comcast cable with a Netgear N600 router and:
1 desktop Win XP sp3 plugged into router
1 desktop Win 7 usb wireless
1 HP laptop w/ Vista
2 Dell old laptops Win XP not used much
Sony PS3 not on much
iPad2 always on
Nook Color
AND a Roku always on
I think that's all. So I'm guessing all this will slow down my whole connection? My iPad is the fastest. My Nook is extremely slow. Maybe it's the B&N website? When I go to shop and even when I registered it, it says connection having trouble. I finally had to setup my account at BN with my desktop. The Nook wouldn't stay connected.
I have a wireless G router and all of my devices that connect to it right now all have wireless adapters. I have several devices in a media closet (about 3 or 4 - Blu ray, DVR, ect) that only have wired ports. Since all these devices are right next to each other, I don't need to buy a wireless adapter for each one because that's just pointless. is there a way to have all 4 of these wired devices connect to a central device, which in turn this device connects to my wireless network? I know there is a way I just haven't been able to figure it out.And then, with this new device, is there some special way it has to be configured?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a D-LINK DIR-300 router with 4 LAN and WI-FI. It's acting very strange lately. It is connected to a UPS battery and the one LAN connection is in surge protection.Here are the symptoms:
-Every 2 days it just loses connection. I have to reboot it so to make the connection working. It's a little bit annoying after awhile.
- One day one of the LEDs started like fading away and came back up (the one that signals the LAN connection).
- When all the LEDs were properly working and the connection was good also, I moved the the power adapter cord a little bit at some part (I didn't plugged it out) and some of the LEDs gone (Internet connection LED and Wireless) but all the other LEDs were working. Of course there wasn't connection either.my OP is Ubuntu 12.04 and the connection DHCP is well configured.
As of last night my router has been producing slow connectivity when multiple users are connected to it, but it's perfectly fine when only one user is connected. I am on a laptop myself, but we also have a second laptop and a desktop where the modem and router are set up. I have upgraded the firmware so that is up to date. We have Comcast Fiber Optics so my internet speed is normally quite fast even when all of my computers are connected.
I am using DHCP Configuration. My Channel Width is set to 20 MHz and I am using Channel 11. The Security Mode is set to WPA Personal. I had it on WPA2 Personal but I read that changing to WPA Personal might work and so far it doesn't seem to have done anything. I set the Beacon Interval to 50, Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, and RTS Threshold to 2304. Everything else is set to the default factory configuration.
Just today I received a notice that said "Windows has detected an IP Address Conflict", but ever since I reinstalled the Firmware it hasn't come back. I've rebooted both my laptop and the desktop to confirm it hasn't come back as well. I've tried everything that I could think of including reconfiguring my router and restarting my modem as well.
I am having trouble with my wireless internet at home, i am using a dell inspirion with windows 7, and an ipad, my router is a Netgear DGN2000, what happens is that the connection is intermittent on all the devices when using the wireless connection but no problem when using a direct connection.

I'm having WIFI connection issues with a Sony Vaio VGN-FW140E Laptop. After a connection is established it will randomly stop working.The network adapter is a Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN using driver version 14.3.0.6,I have also tested the connection with a Cisco Valet AM10 WIFI USB adapter and received the same results.All other devices connected wirelessly are not experiencing any connection problems.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a new PC which is now about 4-5 weeks old. It worked great in the first 2-3 weeks, but then the network connection started to be unstable. That means that the connection is lost regularly (in intervals between 15 seconds an several minutes). After it is lost there's an immediate reconnection attempt, which usually is successful. So the connection downtime is mostly inbetween 2-10 seconds. Now that does bother me pretty badly. Especially in online games this leads to many disconnects or lagspikes of up to 10 seconds.
The connection losses always come paired with DPC latency spikes.I switched the LAN cable just to be sure. I updated all drivers (including BIOS). I deactivated all eligible components in the device manager one by one. The only thing I found out: If I disable the network adapter, the latency spikes are gone. But that doesn't work because the connection is gone too. For that network adapter I tried different drivers, various versions from Shuttle and also the latest original driver by Realtek.
I have a D-Link DIR-615 Hardware Version: E3 Firmware Version: 5.10 and I am using this as an access point with the DHCP disabled (secondary router) and my primary router is located down stairs and it is also a DIR-615 Hardware Version: B2 (192.168.0.1) and this issue didn�t develop until later over time and I have made absolutely no network configuration or ISP changes at all the internet has been working fine confirmed with Time Warner Cable and for more than six months and I out the DIR-615 Hardware Version: E3 Firmware Version: 5.10 router has been bringing down the entire network/internet access and I can confirm this router is causing the network/internet to go down and windows notification will say the network only has limited access and I am also unable to access the router page (192.168.0.2) state I have to remove it and restart it D-Link can take a look into this issue I believe this might be a bug and I confirmed on the website that this is the latest version.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have had this wireless router for 3.5-4 months, and it has been working fine up until now.It either runs VERY slow and losses connection often or will not connect at all. I could be sitting beside the router or across the room with the same results. i have even tried connecting a cord from the laptop to the router, but it makes no difference. If it makes any difference we have a PS3 that is connected via wire to the modem and it works just fine, never loses connection. We have used both at the same time since we got it and it was fine up until a few weeks ago.I have tried reseting it and unplugging everything and rebooting the computer and that had no effect. I also tried reinstalling the router on the computer using the setup disk and resetting everything but that did not do anything either. I have an Acer Aspire laptop MTS ~ DSL Modem?

This happens frequently, varying from every few minutes to every few hours. If I re-connect the adapter, though, a connection instantly comes back. There's no sign that it's lost connection, the taskbar still displays Internet access and a 5 bars, and the blue light on the adapting keeps flashing; but I just can't connect to the iternet at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to connect my ps3, sky hd+ box and samsung smart tv. Upstairs is my wireless router and I have connected to this by using a power supply networking adaptor (duvelo). I have since purchased a cheap ethernet switch from ebay and plugged this into the power adaptor connection next to my ps3, sky hd+ and samsung smart tv downstairs. I thought by connecting these 3 devices to the switch (which is connected to the duvelo adaptor) I could have all 3 devices simultaneously connected online. However, I still can only have 1 ethernet cable in the switch at once and hence only connect 1 device at a time.

In the beginning they show up individually with their own device names, then somehow combine. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS with SpeedBooster.When I turn on 3 devices on Wi-Fi ( for instance 2 Apple MAC Computers, 1 Windows PC, and a wi-fi printer ), in other words 3 to 4 devices, everything works fine. BUT when I add another device later in the day ( lets say an iPad ), the iPad is not able to access the wi-fi connection. I get a message saying that another device is already using the connection.If I reset the router, then the iPad will be able to get in along with 2 or 3 other devices. If I try an extra device, I get the same problem.What can be causing this? I was under the impression that the router can handle an unlimited amount of wi-fi devices.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wireless router [Linksys WRT54G] has recently been dropping the connection simultaneously between two desktops. I have one desktop plugged into the router with an enthernet cord, but the other is running a wireless card. I recently got a Windows notice stating that there is an IP address conflict between my two computers. I check my IP addresses using my ipaddress.com and both computers are sharing the same IP address. I also checked the connection with my smartphone and when I am connected to the internet through my wireless; it gives me the same IP address as well. So, every device I'm using through my router is giving the same IP address at my ip address.com. I'm assuming this may be what is occasionally knocking my router offline, causing me to have to reset, but it will knock both computers offline within a few minutes of resetting.
I believe that all 3 devices should have different IP addresses when connecting to the internet, so is this a setting I need to adjust in the router, and if so where do I go, or can I try to assign one of my desktop computers a new IP address? I have no idea why my smartphone would be using the same IP address when connected through the router either. I'm going to guess that the problem is with a setting within my router.
What's happened is that after transferring my old PC's data onto my new one, and putting that one in place of my old one, therefore hooking up my modem to it, my wireless devices have been having trouble connecting to the router. Everything's hooked up fine, and it was working perfectly before, but now my devices such as my laptop and Droid Pro can SEE the router (As in connect to it and say that they are getting excellent signal strength), but when I try to open my browser, it asks as if I'm not connected to anything at all. The PC that's wired to the modem through the router works fine, however.
View 14 Replies View RelatedThe original network had a Zylex router, Netgear Switch. There was 2 pc's, one XP and Win 7. There is also 3 tills connected too.There is VPN network connected too. This emits a wireless signal to connect to a scanning gun and is also used to administrate the entire network. I was told by the Administrator of that network that it shouldn't interfere with the wifi network.The job I was requested to do was to install 3 new wall plates as the Win 7 pc was using a Belkin wireless adapter. There was 2 put inside the office where the XP and Win7 pc's are located. The 3rd was just outside the office.Now all the ethernet connections work 100%. The wifi is another story though. It will show up in the connect too, when you try connect it will disappear/no response from AP/connect then disappear, these are random too. No order to when each is error is displayed. Even when I put in another router the exact same issues happen.I have tried to connect to both routers wifi when it wasn't plugged into the switch. Just the router's turned on with no cables plugged in separately of course, no joy same issue with both.

The router will allow other devices (DVR, laptop, nook) to connect to it, but won't allow those devices to connect to the internet. View 1 Replies View RelatedOnce your devices start showing up in your device list make a DHCP reservation for each device. (after confirming that no other devices are listed under it).
If you have a device that has multiple MAC & ip addresses under it you MUST first determine what the devices are listed & power-down before you can delete the device. Also note that some wired devices will still show as connected so you must have to either power down the device by pulling Th power cord OR disconnect the ethernet cable.

Cisco's interface looks poor; there is no way to see the connected devices.Many of the devices I have have a 5 Ghz radio and some don't so i need to see at what speeds they are connecting at.Or does Cisco not provide this utility? I am surprised that a high-end product from Cisco does not have this function.
