I have a Linksys Wireless-N Home Router, WRT120N to be exact, and I have been having problems with my wireless. My wifi losses internet connection intermittently. This does not happen when I am connected directly to the router with a Ethernet cable. I have redone all the settings many times(like 6) and Im still having the same problem.

I'm having WIFI connection issues with a Sony Vaio VGN-FW140E Laptop. After a connection is established it will randomly stop working.The network adapter is a Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN using driver version 14.3.0.6,I have also tested the connection with a Cisco Valet AM10 WIFI USB adapter and received the same results.All other devices connected wirelessly are not experiencing any connection problems.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a D-LINK DIR-300 router with 4 LAN and WI-FI. It's acting very strange lately. It is connected to a UPS battery and the one LAN connection is in surge protection.Here are the symptoms:
-Every 2 days it just loses connection. I have to reboot it so to make the connection working. It's a little bit annoying after awhile.
- One day one of the LEDs started like fading away and came back up (the one that signals the LAN connection).
- When all the LEDs were properly working and the connection was good also, I moved the the power adapter cord a little bit at some part (I didn't plugged it out) and some of the LEDs gone (Internet connection LED and Wireless) but all the other LEDs were working. Of course there wasn't connection either.my OP is Ubuntu 12.04 and the connection DHCP is well configured.
I have a D-Link DIR-615 Hardware Version: E3 Firmware Version: 5.10 and I am using this as an access point with the DHCP disabled (secondary router) and my primary router is located down stairs and it is also a DIR-615 Hardware Version: B2 (192.168.0.1) and this issue didn�t develop until later over time and I have made absolutely no network configuration or ISP changes at all the internet has been working fine confirmed with Time Warner Cable and for more than six months and I out the DIR-615 Hardware Version: E3 Firmware Version: 5.10 router has been bringing down the entire network/internet access and I can confirm this router is causing the network/internet to go down and windows notification will say the network only has limited access and I am also unable to access the router page (192.168.0.2) state I have to remove it and restart it D-Link can take a look into this issue I believe this might be a bug and I confirmed on the website that this is the latest version.

It both said "No Internet Access" Then later IPv6 said "No Network Access" That's the problem i am having on my personal laptop computer. I really am furious that I lost internet connection around 12:15, 12:30, 12:50, 1:30, 2:15, 2:30, and 3:30 A.M. i suddenly lost internet right there. This happens frequently, varying from every few minutes to every few hours. If I re-connect the adapter, though, a connection instantly comes back. There's no sign that it's lost connection, the taskbar still displays Internet access and a 5 bars, and the blue light on the adapting keeps flashing; but I just can't connect to the iternet at all.

So I’ve configured my Linksys WRT120N router in the living room, unplugged the ethernet cable from my laptop, plugged the wireless antenna in the kitchen, and everything was working fine with the wireless network. After about one month I was not able anymore to enter my network with the security key, there was actually no prompt for the security key, just a message “Cannot connect to the network”. I then had to reconfigure the router, going to the router IP address (I used the default settings, a blank for username, and “admin” as a password, as per instructions), use another network name, security key and password, and was able to start again a wireless network with the wireless antenna as before. This problem represented other 3 times (in the last 3 months), and was working fine, but now I cannot reconfigure the router anymore, since the IP address doesn’t accept BLANK/ADMIN anymore, and if I go ahead and reconfigure the router a message says I have to use the default settings in the IP address…

I always check my status on 192.168.1.1 when this happen to see if i'm getting 0's ISP but it does not say that.I also tried ipconfig/release and renew I also tried right click wireless icon and click "repair"Power cycle always worked for me in the past but today to my dissappointment it did not.after power cycling I check my status on 192.168.1.1 and now it indicates 0's.

Sometimes all wireless devices lose the connection to the internet, and the access to the router administration page (192.168.1.1) becomes impossible. In this case LEDs of power, internet and wireless are lighting without flashing. This problem usually occurs every 48 hour, and there was no way to make a reconnection except turning the router off by unplugging the power wire and plug it again…
I hope find a solution for this problem here

My wireless router will work for 6- 8hrs then drop the internet connection. I have to cycle the modem and router several times to restore the connection. I am also using a Netgear Access Point.

Recently been taking my Laptop installed with Win7 Pro to a Friends and was sharing his Wireless connection from Belkin ADSL2+ wireless router and notice that every now and again the wireless connection would drop out and the only way to regain a connection to the reset the router. My friends network has two laptops on it connected wirelessly with Windows XP home edition SP3, and a Desktop PC with XP also on connected to router Via Ethernet, also a Windows Home Server and XBOX 360 also connected by Ethernet, My friend since updated his laptop to Windows 7 Home Premium and is using the Wireless connection which now finds intermittent loss of connection which can only be restored by Resetting the Router. why a Router should lose connection just by connecting a Win7 laptop wirelessly or is there more to it than that.

View 1 Replies View RelatedReciently I bought a WRT120N Router to get a better internet connection and to have more capacity to connect different wireless devices, because the modem from my internet provider company is extremely restrictive.
I use an iMac, a Notebook with Windows 7 and a Netbook with Ubuntu 11.04, besides different devices (iPhone, iPod, PS3, Kindle). Although when I configured the router I connected every devices simultaneasly, with better signal quality than before, after using it for a couple of days I found that it disconnects itself, I can't access internet, and my only solution it's to switch it off and on.
My internet connection seems to drop offline randomely while surfing the net. It basically results in yahoo or google freezing for 20-60 seconds before unfreezing and running flawlessly again. I seen a previous post that requested the individual hit start, run, cmd, and enter tracert google.com.

The old 615 has been working very well for some years now, but the last couple of days we have had to turn it off and on again to get internet. It has happened 3 times in the last 24 hours. The globe light on the router remains green, and the notification icon on windows 7 doesn't show any problems yet we cant connect to the web. I've been looking on the forum and trying to understand some of the solutions and checklists already posted, but they don't make a whole load of sense to me unfortunately.
The firmware on the router is 2.27. The only change I have made to the system is that my wife's lan card seems to have died a death last week, and her computer is now connected by wireless. My computer is now the only one connected to the router by a lan cable.
There is something I don't understand. Under setup / network there is a dhcp reservations section. Pretty much every device seems to have a reserved IP address, and some of the devices that are reserved we no longer own. My son does gaming and wants a constant IP address, and my computer might need a permanent IP (don't know - just guessing here). Should all the other computers be allowed to sort themselves an IP every time they log on? Most of the devices have expires never, and some of the devices have the blue link that I can click for revoke and reserve with a time by them.
Am I barking up the wrong tree here and this lot has nothing to do with the dropping connection? What do the revoke / reserve and times mean? What happens when the lease runs out? Will the connection drop on that computer and it will have to try and connect itself again, or does it start a new lease every time it logs on to the router?
E4200 Version 2.0.37.131047 disconnects my wireless clients intermittently. I am seeing it mostly on the 5Ghz band but that is where most of my clients are connected. I have all the setting in advanced tweaked per cisco best practice. It just seems to reset every so often. Wired connection is not disconnected.

View 14 Replies View RelatedFor eight months we have not had any problems with our new WRVS4400N (V2.0.2.1) connected to a Verizon/Westell 6500 to provide DSL internet for our network with DHCP on our server... No changes have been made to the router or modem since initial setup; but, then it started -- Our internet connection would drop intermittently. Sometimes every 5 or 10 minutes - sometimes every hour. Verizon has tested the lines which came up ok, then they sent a tech who changed the wire pair coming into the building for the DSL line and retested the lines which again came up ok, then they provided us with a new modem (now a Verizon/Westell 7500). After all that, the DSL still connects then disconnects intermittently. I am now wondering if the issue lies with the WRVS4400N.

If I am watching a video, it doesn't matter which site, the video will stop and start from the beginning or the video will just stop altogether and I have to refresh the page. Another problem that happens while browsing, it will take about a minute for a page to load. The computer I am using is wired right into the router.
The rest of the family's computers the apple tv and the roku are wireless. I have been hearing complaints from them and have witnessed the laggyness. While streaming videos on the roku or apple tv, the video will stop and say video is not available or no connection. This is what I get from ipconfig/all

I have a WAG160N v2 and a UK Online broadbad account, windows xp. The connection intermittmently drops out, approx 15-30 times per day. I have spoken to my ISP and had the line checked (no packet loss issue), checked the settings on the router against my ISP and also updated the router firmware all with no improvement.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been having issues with my e2500 router. I've found my connection dropping occasionally both with a wired connection and wirelessly on other computer. My desktop is connected directly to the router via ethernet and I've been keeping an eye on my network preference pane. Every 10 minutes or so the connection will be lost and computer says the cable is unplugged. It then resolves after 2 minutes.
I'm running OSX 10.8, firmware 1.0.07. Done a factory reset, power cycles etc. Configured with Cisco connect and manually multiple times. I've swapped out ethernet cables just to be sure it wasn't a cable issue.
Internet is fine when I've got the computer hooked up directly to the modem. No connection issues.
Have a ZyXEL 600 wireless router - it has worked without issues for years.However yesterday evening my wireless router suddenly stopped broadcasting a signal. 2 different PC's and a wifi dongle attached to our TV were suddenly all unable to find my network.The WLAN light on the router was still lit up. I connected my Acer Aspire 5742Z laptop to the router via an ethernet cable and it worked fine. I connected to the router and it said there were no errors.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI've got a new PC which is now about 4-5 weeks old. It worked great in the first 2-3 weeks, but then the network connection started to be unstable. That means that the connection is lost regularly (in intervals between 15 seconds an several minutes). After it is lost there's an immediate reconnection attempt, which usually is successful. So the connection downtime is mostly inbetween 2-10 seconds. Now that does bother me pretty badly. Especially in online games this leads to many disconnects or lagspikes of up to 10 seconds.
The connection losses always come paired with DPC latency spikes.I switched the LAN cable just to be sure. I updated all drivers (including BIOS). I deactivated all eligible components in the device manager one by one. The only thing I found out: If I disable the network adapter, the latency spikes are gone. But that doesn't work because the connection is gone too. For that network adapter I tried different drivers, various versions from Shuttle and also the latest original driver by Realtek.
My Linksys Router WRT54G has recently (yesterday) started dropping the internet after being online for a few hours.The current setup has been in place for several years. I started with the Broadband provider and they verified that the signal and cable modem is working properly. My own tests back this up. At first I simply reset the router. Unplugged it for 30 seconds and plugged it back in. Internet is back. Then I tried resetting the cable modem and the router. This works as well but the problem presists. Resetting the router alone has the same affect.So, something with the router is causing it to drop the internet. The network does not drop however. I can still use my network drive and the computers indicate a network with no internet connection.

I could be sitting beside the router or across the room with the same results. i have even tried connecting a cord from the laptop to the router, but it makes no difference. If it makes any difference we have a PS3 that is connected via wire to the modem and it works just fine, never loses connection. We have used both at the same time since we got it and it was fine up until a few weeks ago.I have tried reseting it and unplugging everything and rebooting the computer and that had no effect.
